Fantasy Battle of the Ages

[Mekuto]

Kaiser saw the sudden surge of malicious energies well up into the streets, the tranquil stream became marred with violent shades of red and black. Dispelling his second sight Kaiser threw one of rope darts into the roof of the bell tower and then, kicing off the bell for a boost, leaped towards the ground. The bell sent out a thunderous peal of sound, calling Soldier to arms and signaling to citizens to seek sanctuary within the he walls of the temple, Kaiser knew it would also attract the fell beings of the scourge.

As he fell he spun in the air and sent two more darts flying behind him to the left and right of the church. The cords the darts were attached to began to extend magically growing to suit Kaiser's purpose. As he neared the ground the cord connected to the tower slowed just enough for a safe landing. Rolling as he hit the ground Kaiser drew his Longsword as he stood sweeping the legs of a skeleton and then striking it's head from its falling body. "To the temple, get to the temple!" Kaiser roared out loudly as he parried an incoming blow before countering with a lunge that slipped between two vertebrae, twisting the blade, the skeleton's torso fell to the ground Kaiser kicked the skull from its head and sent it flying right into another skeletal being sending it crashing backwards.

Finding himself free for a moment Kaiser drew on his magic and channeled it through his cords and blade. Standing before the temple he dropped to a knee and rested the tip on his sword on the ground, a surge of magical power erupted from Kaiser and and transfered to his weapons. On the the surface that the blades were touching a sigil appeared glowing in a faint green light. The three sigils on the ground began to seep out light along the ground, like water filling a mold, forming a circle around the temple. As this completed Kaiser twisted the blade and sent out a second pulse of magic through the cords and into the sigils, a three-sided pyramid of pale green light began to encase the temple.

Having completed his warding spell Kaiser rose to his feet, feeling a bit winded from the exertion, tugging on the cords his rope darts magically retracted and came to him. He would protect the barrier and the temple as best he could, he glanced back and saw the people faces looking fearfully at the oncoming scrounge and at the temple doors an old monk with a wooden cudgel along with a few stout souls stood ready to fight. "Stay back, take care of any that get past me!" Kaiser shouted as he turned away and charged at the nearest skeleton

Scourge Attack
The Bone Monstrosity, mid attack, heard the ringing of the bell and saw Kaiser with a few stout citizens and turned it's attention to them instead. It leaped into the air and landed infront of Kaiser. The other skeletons that Kaiser was fighting ran away in fear of the Monstrosity, the Monstrosity swiftly used all four arms to pound the location Kaiser was at. Regardless of if the attack missed or not, the Monstrosity roared and called Bonemen to begin channeling magic to take down the ward protecting the citizens.

Tomomi​

Just when she thought it was over, Tomomi saw the bone monstrosity grow out of the bone lord's remains go for Grov with massive punches. "Grov!" She ran towards the monstrosity, but just as quickly as it had come it jumped away. When she tried to slow herself down and look to where the monstrosity had leaped, she crumpled over with a cry of agony. Kicking the spine repeatedly with her full adrenaline-driven might had injured her right leg, almost to the point of breaking the bone. She took a few heavy breaths before calling out, hoping that Sana was near enough to hear her. "Sana, if you can I could use a heal!"

Grov was battered but not broken as the monster pounded on his body with powerful strike after strike then leapt away to attack the newly arrived fighter. Seeing his chance as the thing roared he channeled all the mana he had into one punch, as he charged the thing and right as he threw his punch he shouted "OVERLOAD!" His punch increased dramaticly in power but cracks could now be seen running the length of his arm.

Sana Guineth​

The display of power was something to behold indeed, the two significantly different fighters must have worked together for some time, their actions complimenting one another quite well, at least to Sana. After the area seemed clear, she began to emerge from her hiding with some shame on her face, walking slowly toward them, eyes moving around them to check for any obvious signs of damage. "Are you both alright!? Sorry that I could no he..." She began to call out in worry, especially after seeing the small girl in combat, it was definitely not something Sana was used to.

Then the scrambled bones began to move, the sight of it knocking Sana back on her behind. As the monstrosity formed, the girl could only push herself back with her hands, scooting across the ground, face stunned at the sight of it as the creature began to ruthlessly pummel the golem. Sana snapped back to reality though as the bell sounded, "reinforcements?" She thought to herself, hoping the rest of the guards, and hopefully knights, had been alerted of what seemed to become almost hourly attacks. What she found however was another brave soul, preparing themselves to guard the temple, they were truly coming out of the woodwork this day, thankfully.

The sound had alerted the fiend, as Sana watched it leap away, her relief turned to horror. Tomomi's voice took her focus once more however, the poor child having cried in agony, before calling out to her. With as much haste as she could, the girl moved toward the Halfling, kneeling down to inspect the injury. Taking the girl's leg Sana began to squeeze different points of it, feeling the bone and any reaction to it. It wasn't broken, that was a relief, perhaps she would not need to use her magic after all.

Tomomi was clearly not intending to leave Grov and the other hero alone to fight the monstrosity however, and for good reason Sana realised as she looked toward the ensuing battle. "I can't... I..." She began to mutter, eyes drifting to those within the barrier, mind drifting to all that could be inside. "The process is... unusual... and though it will not be instantly repaired, you may still be able to walk on it." Sana stated in a low tone, looking between the small girl and the temple, before pulling a strange knife from the inside of her robe. "You'll need to relax Tomomi, and look away..." She continued with a saddened expression, using such powers on a small girl, it disgusted her to even think to do it, yet what choice did they have?

All it took was a small prick on the leg in question, red liquid slowly escaping until Sana placed her hand upon the cut. Pushing Tomomi's blood through circulation, Sana attempted to enrich it. At the same time, a protective layer hardened over the strain, it would give some protection, but not enough for great use beyond carrying the girl's light weight before it would shatter. As Sana lifted her hand away, a tiny scab was all that remained, her saddened face looking upon Tomomi's.
"Fresh, sweet..."
Sana placed her hand to her head, attempting to block the thought. "Don't go kicking that thing now." She warned, her pitch slightly changing as she did so. Finally her eyes moved to the scene before them, she only hoped they could stop the creature before it got inside the temple.

Tomomi​

Feeling the pain lessen a bit, and receiving the typical healer's advice, Tomomi stood back up. She didn't look away like Sana asked, but she didn't care that Sana used blood magic - that said nothing about the person herself. "Thanks, Ms. Sana." Without replying to the typical healer advice, mostly because a truthful answer would be 'no', Tomomi ran towards the monstrosity. She found herself blocked by the skeletons that had fled from the monstrosity, though, and was forced to confront them with the sheathed short sword and occasional punches and kicks. "Stupid grunts!"

"Well... shit," Kaiser said to himself as he saw the great skeletal horror come crashing down before him. Kaiser threw one of his darts to the right almost on instinct, tugging on the cord as behemoth reared up to strike. The cord went taught, and began pulling Kaiser away Kaiser held his ground resisting the pull for as long as possible. As the beast lashed out he let the cord yank him away, as it did he looped the magic tether around it's extending arm.

As he was being pulled away the concussive wave from the Skeleton Monstrosity's tremendous blow struck him, throwing off his landing. The hit the ground hard and skidded on the ground, recovering quickly he wrapped the cord in his hand and smirked. While the rope seemed simple it was heavily enchanted, very hard to break and if the Monstrosity tried to yank Kaiser around the line would extend render in the attempt useless. Kaiser put his hand on the dart and steadily pushed it into the solid stone, at first it resisted but then a pale green light appeared where the dart and stone met. Once the dart was fully inside the stone he his hand on top of it and sent a pulse of magic downward, a light green sigil appeared on the ground anchoring the dart with a powerful spell.

Detecting the sudden build up in power among the Monstrosity's thralls, Kaiser anticipated an assualt on his barrier. "Don't let them overwhelm the barrier," he shouted as he flung two more rope darts, knocking the heads off of two of the skeletal fiends.

Scourge Attack
The Monstrosity jumped back a bit and get down on all fours and used two of the arms to gather the bones of it's fallen bonemen. It spread the bones out in front of it and pushed them forward in a spread bone wave. The undead just seemed to stop assaulting the barrier, they were endless it seemed like. When one would another one would pop up and replace it, the Monstrosity leapt into the air again and came slamming down on Kaiser's position, hitting the ground with all four fists.

Seeing the barrier was under attack by minions Grov looked over to the little one and yelled "Help the swordman out I'll try to keep them away from the barrier!" He ran towards the cathedral mowing down any bone man that got in his way with his massive wight. As he got to the edge he began chanting the incantation for one of his strongest spells. Bone men hammered at him chipping away at his body as he chanted and started to draw an astronomical amount of mana into his core. Each word boomed with power. "Elements of sky and light, We ask you to join us in this fight, Twine with earth and stone, To protect this holy throne, Build a wall, Strong and tall, Break and shatter, Crush and Scatter, Enemies of this place, Those with but skeletal face, Ancient Elemental Barrier I cast, form and protect us fast." As the last word left his mouth a surge of energy left him knocking down or blowing away the undead around him, then there was rumbling as a wall 15 feet tall and at least 8 thick and covered in white gylphs arose around the other barrier. "It'll on last 15 minutes so end it fast!" he said as the fatigue caught up to him causing him to stumble and fall on his backside."

"Oh no..." Sana thought to herself as the Halfling ran off, ignoring her advice, hopefully it would be enough The undead were relentless, it seemed as if nothing would halt their advance, each time one fell the monstrosity leading them using the fallen to power its own attacks. Sana had still been crouching, watching seemed to be all she could do, yet it was clear now that the victims of the scourge had set their focus on the barrier.

Stumbling up, the girl moved toward the buildings nearby, assisting those in need. It seemed the guards were busy doing the same, though this was a job she could perform, and those at the temple needed all the help they could get. "They're assaulting the temple! Don't let them traverse the barrier!" She called out to any available, some of the armed men listening, moving to help those defending the temple. Though as she looked over, a massive wall of stone now stood covering the building, she only hoped that was a good sign.

As the Monstrosity leapt at him Kaiser dashed forward sliding beneath before pushing himself of the ground and breaking in to a full sprint. His rope darts retracting back to him. Activating his second sight he quickly found what he had been looking for, a powerful current of natural mana within the earth. Moving towards it as quickly as he could he began to weave his own mana into a spell, as we reached it he slammed his hands on the ground causing a large sigil to appear. The spell tapped the raw power of the earth and brought it welling to the surface, in this state it could only be sensed or seen be those in tune with the earth or magic in general. Kaiser channeled the energy towards the fallen golem, the powers the earth would aid in replenishing it's own reserves. After this he began to channel and hone the energy into his blade.

A few hours later...
After what seems like hours of fighting, the monstrosity just wouldn't die. With the spirit of our chosen nearly gone from a daunting fight and overall longer then it should have been, Maja himself descended from his Altar;

"LOSE NOT THE SPIRIT, THE BATTLE HAS JUST BEGUN. I SENSE WITHIN YOU ALL, GREAT SPIRIT. UNTAPPED. RECEIVE MY BLESSING, FIGHT BEYOND THE BREAKING POINT OF NORMAL HUMANS." His voice thundered through the sky.

With Spirit renewed, our Chosen had received the Blessing of Spirit and in a fight no less. Despite this, the Bonemen spawned by the Monstrosity still assaulted the barrier and the Monstrosity itself still fought with all the rage and fury as it started with. It wound up it's four fists and began moving forward toward Kaiser, swinging all four fists wildly in a wide cone in front of it as it moved forward.

Refreshed by both the spirit and the sword mans magic Grov pushed both hands into the ground and shouted "Hey Monster remember this." As he ripped a chunk of earth twice his size out of the groud, his injured arm cracking and pieces of it falling off but it stayed mostly intact. "How about I remind you!" He he channeled mana into his legs and said "Overload!" He rocketed forward towards the creature and with all his might slammed the massive chunk of eath down on it. His legs and right arm badly damaged he stumbled back but stayed upright as he pointed to the rock and cast a spell. "Eathen embrace!" The rock both on top and bellow the creature seemed to compress together until the rock was one third the size and melded with the ground. Grov then fell to his knees and sighed. "Hope that did it cause I'm out of mana."

Trial complete​

As Grov's attack landed, it knocked the monstrosity over and as the monstrosity got up, dark tendrils began to surround and grab the monstrosity. They began to pull the Bone Monstrosity down into the ground and the monstrosity trying with all it's might to not be pulled up but the tendrils prevailed and the monster disappeared into the ground, in defeat.

Maja flew overhead and landed near the group, as he looked down, his voice echoed through the city, "YOU HAVE ENDURED MUCH AND HAVE PASSED THE FIRST TRIAL. RATHER THEN FIND MY ALTAR YOU STAYED BACK TO DEFEND THE CITIZENS OF MAJABONG."

Maja used his healing powers to restore the city, "YOU SHOW GREAT PROMISE FOR THE TRIALS AHEAD. GO NOW, WITH MY BLESSING, COMPLETE THE FIVE REMAINING TRIALS AND REMOVE THIS WORLD OF IT'S SCOURGE. I WARN YOU NOW, AS YOU COMPLETE THE TRIALS, SHATOTH WILL BEGIN TO SEE YOU AS A THREAT AND SEND HIS STRONGER UNDEAD AT YOU. THE BONELORD YOU JUST DEFEATED WAS JUST THE BEGININNG."

Maja lowered his head and a swirling light swirled around the group as their mana and spirit were fully restored once more, "YOU MUST HURRY, THE WORLD SPIRIT.. SHE IS IN PAIN. AS YOU GO FORWARD, REMEMBER THAT A STRONG SPIRIT IS NOTHING WITHOUT A STRONG HEART." The Bones of the remaining Bonemen were disintegrated and the injured guardsmen were restored.

Connor Knightwalker​

Huddled in a corner of the temple, Connor sat among the crowd of worrying faces with a rather neutral look as the monstrosity made a loud attack on the barrier for the millionth time. He was retracing the steps of how he got here - the sudden scourge attack while he was searching for the altar, then getting pulled by a priest to the safe zone before he had time to register the fact that the undead had apparently learned burrowing. Since he was already pulled in and there seemed to be a lot of strong people out there, he didn't especially feel the need to go out.

However, that changed pretty quickly when some random titan decided to buff his spirit and proceeded to refer to him as 'Untapped'. With a dark aura, he stood up, walking out of the temple unhindered by the priests and healers that wisely kept their distance. With a mutter of "«Connect»", Grov's wall meant nothing to Connor as he simply made a portal on either side.

Coming out to the other side, Connor lost his dark aura as the portal behind him closed and he came to terms with the scene he was not prepared for when he strutted out the temple doors. With a tight, neutral face, he looked over the scene and thought the following:

GOD FUCKING DAMN IT WHY THE FUCK I JUST WANTED TO KILL THE FUCKING BONE BITCH AND PROVE MYSELF TO THE GODDAMN BIG ASS BIRD BUT NOOOO SOME HUGE ASS GOLEM HAD TO STEAL MY KILL AND GOD FUCKING DAMN IT THERE AREN'T EVEN GRUNTS FOR ME TO BRUTALLY MASSACRE BECAUSE SOME GODDAMN SHRIMP TORE THEM TO SHREDS AND THE GODDAMN BIG ASS BIRD CLEANED UP THEIR BONES. AND THEY'RE APPARENTLY MY COMPANIONS NOW IN THIS JOURNEY. GREAT. FUCKING GREAT.

WHO THE FUCK'S A SHATOTH?

After a deep breath, Connor calmed himself and walked towards the person that had put up the barrier, who seemed to be a fellow chosen based off his performance in the fight. "Hey, you were great fighting that large monster. I was especially impressed by your quick decision making." While he didn't really think that Kaiser had done anything spectacular, and hadn't seen enough of the fight to even have a chance to form such an opinion, Connor needed to talk to someone to push away the dark thoughts in his head. Plus, it would help if the person was part of the group he had found himself suddenly part of.

Kaiser watched as the Monstrosity was pulled below, he sighed deeply and slowly moved his hand in a sweeping gesture. The sigils faded and the mystic cords retracted back to him. Kaiser was about to disperse the energies he had gathered, but his attention was diverted by a sudden string of profanity.

Turning to see a man approaching when, his second sight saw the intense dark aura that wove it's way about the newcomer. Kaiser that he decided that he would hold onto the natural energy he had gathered, and began folding it with his own energy. "Fighting it in the city, I was worried about causing collateral damage, I'm glad we were able to avoid that," he paused as he looked around, "mostly."

"I'm going," Kaiser said as he turned to the others his eyes still glistening with his magical second sight, "I see can her dying." Kaiser could feel the infusion of natural energy and the Blessing of Maja, it wasn't just a new depth of power but reaching and molding that power felt as easy as breathing. He sheathed his blade and turned from the temple that had been his home, he would take nothing he was not already carrying there was nothing behind him only the quest before him.

Sana Guineth - Majabong Temple​

Another injured soldier, if she didn't act now he would not make it, but she had already used her powers so freely... "Ungh." She groaned as she clotted the blood to close the damage left by a thrusted blade, doing her best to avert her eyes, the thoughts in her head becoming too much. Gazing toward the battle, the monstrosity still standing, she began to doubt the possibility of them taking it down. "They are strong... But perhaps they could use a little... Push." She looked toward the now hardened wound she had been working on, though he was not fully healed, perhaps he could be of further use...

A small smile formed on her face at the notion, looking back over toward the spell-sword, and even the small Tomomi, such strength and stamina which were surely tiring. Sana stood, not even responding to those near her, moving toward the scene of the battle with almost no hesitation. About half way in however, she stopped, a voice thundering from above, renewing her spirit, and clearing her mind in the process. Sana paused, falling to her knees in disbelief of the boon.

She still had work to do, yet at the sight of Grov's magic, she could hardly do much but watch in amazement. As the tendrils moved to pull the creature down, Sana rose, eyes darting around to spot where it was coming from, surely a powerful mage to say the least. Her question was soon answered however, as Maja himself landed near them, the sight of him driving the girl back to one knee, an attempt to show respect to the titan. "This was just the beginning?" She questioned herself, it was clear that she had received his blessing, but if she had deserved it was a question still to be answered. Maja's power was astonishing, as if the city itself had been healed. Her questions did not matter, if the world spirit was in pain, and she had been chosen, she would do everything in her power to complete these trials.

Finally she moved toward the others, it was clear some of them had received the blessing. Her eyes moved toward the one she had not met prior, with another who was nowhere to be found during the battle. Perhaps the other had been cowering away, then again, could she say much better of herself? The titan did not seem the type to give his blessing without reason after all. As she moved over, she moved to lightly place a hand on the shoulder of the man who had made the barrier. He was steadfast, that was for sure. "If not for you, many would have." She stated, her voice light. "If not for all of you." She continued, looking back toward Grov and Tomomi, the way they fought without falter to protect those within the temple. Bringing her arms down, she clenched her right wrist with her left. "Surely together we will all complete these trials with haste." Sana finished, looking down, before back toward them, though she did not doubt their abilities, she knew little of their character.

Chapter 2: Cazrameck's Trial​

Maja looked down upon the group, "IF YOU HAVE QUESTION MY CHILDREN, I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER THEM. THOUGH I WILL ANSWER THE FIRST QUESTION YOU MAY HAVE. THE LOCATION OF YOUR NEXT TRIAL IS WHERE WATER CANNOT SURVIVE, WHERE THE WORLD WAS WOUNDED." Before Maja would answer any questions, he addressed Kaiser, "KAISER, IS IT? DAMAGE IS TO BE EXPECTED, AS WITH ANY WAR OR BATTLE. IT IS UNAVOIDABLE, YOU CAN ONLY PREPARE FOR IT."

Calum Revus
As if from nowhere our friendly neighborhood Calum appeared, "Well well, if it isn't the Great Titan of Spirit, Maja." He bowed gracefully before him then turning to the group, "Forgive me, I was unable to participate. I had to... retrieve something from... my home." He smiled, "However, If I recall I told one of you..." he scanned for Sana, "Ah.. her, I cannot participate in the trial, unfortunately, my duty lies with protecting Majabong from the scourge, I apologize. Who knows... maybe we'll meet again. In the meantime, if you don't mind Maja, I will provide you with the exact location for the Trial of Strength. The Meteor of the World. It's just a short jog west of here." He said, saving the group the time of figuring out the riddle Maja laid out. "This is where we part ways, unfortunately, after the Trial of Strength, you will have to figure out the riddles that the Titans give you to find the locations of the other trials." Calum then departed the group back into the Knight's HQ.
