Wait, wait. LOL. You get starting gold if you forgo the starting equipment package In the class. So, you choice is to take the equipment package or instead go to the equipment section fo the Player’s Handbook, roll gold, and custom buy your equipment.

Do we still get the equipment from the Background we chose?

Yep I know, I just thought we had to take starting equipment (from class and stuff) :p not all the dms I had did starting gold. Any chance I can switch to starting gold? It's what I usually prefer just to custom some things up.

That's fine, now I have the option of going with a melee rogue. I was attempting a swashbuckler melee rogue on another rp on this site before that sadly ended early due the virus mess, so making another wouldn't be that tough.

I can always heal as a cleric so long as it doesn't go against my idea.

It’s not quite the same, but you do have a Paladin for some limited healing.
