"Well you dont have to worry about that... Kinda unfair on you." He said the ox before looking up at Aguita. "Huh, you understand what its saying? Facinating, all i understand is "grrrr". I hope thats not a swear for oxes."

 

[Mae Renea]

Auita chuckled, "You have an animal long enough then you understand each other. I know he hates running and he is rather lazy." She chuckled. The ox gave her a look.

"I guess you cant blame him with the weight he is carrying."He said as he continued to carry firewood before realising how what he said could be interpreted."I mean his not yours."

 

[Mae Renea]

Aquita narrowed her eyes for a moment before he fixed himself. "Ah." She said leading her animal to the camp. "Lay down, buddy." The ox flopped on his side.

"Well, i thought that might have been obvious. How anyone would think of you as anything else then slender is beyond me" He said casually starting the fire properly and sat down by it. He took a map from his pack and studied it. "There is a village about half a day from her we can restock then it would be at least another weeks worth of walking to the capital."

Era walked over to look at the map. "We could go through these caves," she said pointing to a cave mount. "It'll cut six days off our journey." She offered. She then stood straight.

"I remember old man Chan telling stories about these caves. Quite spooky stuff, i though i would leave it out." He replied clearly a little spooked by the caves. "However if you girls are up for it, lets hope nobody has collapsed it."

 

[Mae Renea]

Era chuckled, "I'm an Earth Bender, we don't need to worry if its collapsed." She sat beside him as Aquita pulled out a pot to make dinner in. 'Those the love caves?" Aquita asked. "I don't think so."

"Are they?"He said looking back at the map curiously. " I thought it was something else but it might be from what i heard. I guess we find out if we go. Not sure whether i want to or n..."


There was the sound of chatter from one of the paths ahead and soon the saw a group of refugees coming. The were a family with two kids and an older gentleman and looked tired and worn like the been in trouble. Yao waved them over curious about if there was something there band would be concerned about. The walked over to them and the father stepped forward.


"Hey, what are you kids are doing her?"He asked conversational.


"Same as you i suppose we are refugees."


The father nodded."Can we sit with you and rest a little bit."


Jao nodded though looked at the other girl for their approval.

Both girls nodded, Aquita added more into the pot and Era strained her ears to see if she could hear any trouble. "Are you okay?" She kicked her foot to form a spot for the adults to sit. "Sorry, I'm Era. This is Aquita," Aquita waved, "You met Yao."

"A pleasure. I am Ming-me, my husband is Huan. We are fine thankfully. " The mother spoke up as everyone sat down before calling for her children to do the same and easing them.


"We run after our village attacked, we traveled a couple of days through contested territory to the earth kingdom only to attacked by bandits. Earth army deserters.""The father continued after his wife before one of his boys spoke up before he continued.


"Then red man saved us! He was amazing!" One boy said earning Jao curiosity.


"Settle down, Chan." The mother said.


"One of life ironies. The roughed us up pretty bad and were going to... Do worse when a fire bender leaped out of the trees and rescued us."

 

[Mae Renea]

Era blinked, looking at Yao. "A good firebender?" Her grandfather always said don't judge by nation, even an Earthbender can be fragile, but this seemed to be unheard of. "At least your okay."

"He beat the bandit and disappeared, not before handing as some coins. So seemed like it." The father said shrugging." Good lesson for the kids though, the nation doesn't make the mask."


"I know I might seem a stupid question but are you sure?" Yao asked.


"Well, I didn't sit down and asked him his life story and he was masked with this really creepy mask but the firebending was real enough. "


"He has a friendly gentlemanly manner even with the bandits." Ming Mei spoke up. "He seemed to be from noble background from his clothing."

 

[Mae Renea]

Era nodded, "My grandfather taught me even an Earthbender can be fragile, so, why couldn't there be a good Firebender?" She asked looking to be Yao. "No matter, we'll still have to be on alert. If he is noble someone will be looking for him.


Aquita listened to the stories, "He isn't far from here than." She said looking to the tired adults. "You must've not ran far with children."

"Or maybe some sort of propaganda for the fire nation.." Yao could help but point it out."We just talked up about why the would do. Heroic fire nation guy came to the rescue of refugee from evil earth soldiers? Its a possibility that is all am saying."

 

[Mae Renea]

Era looked to him, "Maybe but let these people know they are safe, okay?" She smiled and Aquita gave the guests bowl of stew.

"Never said we shouldnt, just setting a warning." He said before looking back at the family." Eat up we have plenty."

 

[Mae Renea]

Era looked to the family and gave a soft smile before getting her own bowl. She looked up at Yao, not sure what to say. He was the hopeful one not her.

He kept quite as he girls chatted with the family, just eating his stew. He didnt feel like talking, the conversation of firebenders reminding him about the village being attacked and the separation from his family.

 

[Mae Renea]

Era stood, it was getting late. They could camp with them. She lifted a few more tents, "Here, you can stay here for the night." She put her bowl down. "I'm tired," she sighed.

"Thank you kids. Very good of you. "Huan said with a smile as he got his family settled into the tents.


"No problem, we refugee stick together. "Yao said before standing up and walking up to Era. "You need help with anything? Otherwise i will take first watch."

 

[Mae Renea]

Era looked to Yao and shook her head. "No, I can take first watch." This was bothering her more than she expected. She leaned again Yao but only for a second before she stood straight. "I'm losing hope for our brothers."

"If you are sure." he said simply before hearing about there brothers. He opened his mouth to say something positive for them but nothing came out, he could say something because he believed the same. He hugged her." "We... We dont know anything yet... It is still possible that they are alive."

 

[Mae Renea]

Era nodded, hugging him back. "Go ahead and rest, I'll wake you in a few hours."

"Ok, don't feel like you have to say longer if you feel tired." He said lessen his grip around Era but was reluctant to let he go and the urge to kiss her again. He thought better of it letting go feeling a little better."Good night.. " He said beginning to crawl in one of the tents.
