Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

Jack was lost for words. What do you say in that situation? "Come here," he put his arms around Vera and held her close, "It's okay," he stroked her hair, wiping tears away, "It's not your fault, it's okay." What else could he do? He'd never experienced this before.

"Nice," Anna smiled and led Roan up the ladder to the top of the wall, to Beaky, "Alright, get in the saddle, spread your knees until your legs sink in here and here," she pointed to the seam at the edge of the saddle, "it's not as good as a harness, but it's not bad like we thought."

Vera buried her face into Jack's chest, sniffling a bit as she did, "Its not fair.."

Roan did as Anna suggested and found that this was pretty comfortable. He nodded, "Thats nice. You know, the saddles weren't made for those birds, maybe thats part of why we struggled with them."

Jack grimaced, it wasn't fair, she was right. "I'm sorry." He was sorry that he'd gotten her pregnant, that they'd gotten their hopes up, only for it to be dashed by two gigas and one terrified man. And he was angry. If that man hadn't brough those gigas to their front door, Vera and his baby might still be growing, not dead. If those gigas didn't exist, they'd still have their home, and everything they worked hard for. If not for those gigas and other humans, they would still be safe, happy, and Vera wouldn't cry. He clenched his teeth, he wanted to kill those monsters. He was going to kill those monsters.

"Come one," Jack separated from Vera to climb the ladder up to the rooms on the top of the structure, "Let's just settle down, and we'll see what we can do."

"Maybe," Anna agreed, "But I still think we should figure out harnesses either way, I want to be able to use my hands for weapons and stuff while I'm flying."

Vera nodded, following Jack, "this place was pretty much untouched when I found it."

"Agreed," He said, "Maybe we could tame one of those big ugly beasts using fliers."

"THat's good," Jack gave a weak smile as he checked rooms until he found one with a bed, "Come lay down." He stepped aside to let her in, pulling a chair, "I know you're hurting." He resisted the instinct to say 'but we can make another', he felt that would not be appropriate. And it probably wouldn't help Vera's emotions.

Anna shuddered, "I don't think I want one of those."

"Will you lay with me?" She asked. She liked having him there. Being in his arms. Thats all she wanted.

"You saw how lethal those were. If we had one, no one could touch us," Roan said, "Nothing. Especially if we leveled them up."

"Of course," Jack smiled, "I'll always lay with you." Especially if he thought it would make her feel better.

"Yeah, but..." Anna looked at the tower, "Do you think the other two are going to let us keep it even if we did tame it?"

Vera gave a small smile and patted the bed. She decided it would be better if she just laid on top of him. She was too small to crush him anyway.

"Maybe if we convinced them that it would protect us," Roan shrugged, "I cant imagine that thing would go down easy."

Jack smiled and laid down on the bed so Vera could climb on top. "You are so warm," he smiled as he put his arm around her.

"Maybe," Anna shrugged, "I just know we've gotta get a new doedicurus and a new mammoth." Then she paused, "OH! When i respawned, I went to a small island in the southeast," she opened her map to show the trail she'd taken, "Nothing but herbivores. If we could get there, we'd never have to worry about predators we didn't bring with us." There were megalodons and rays in the water, but as long as they stayed out of the main ocean it was perfect. "It's got metal, wood, and stone."

Vera hummed softly, smiling, "I missed sleeping with you."

"Thats amazing," Roan said, "I wonder what other things this place is hiding."

"Hmm," Jack hummed, "I missed waking up with you." It had only been two days, but it felt like longer with all the stress.

"We can find out if we can get more flyers," Anna offered, "We could do more general exploration from the air."

"Me too," She said, closing her eyes. Now all she wanted was to sleep in his arms.

"Good point," He agreed, "It wouldn't take long for that."

Jack smiled and got comfortable, he'd be there for a while, just enjoying being with Vera again.

Anna smiled and looked down at the fort, "We gotta upgrade the walls to stone, though," she shook her head, "Wood's too fragile if those gigas can just walk right through it." She looked around the dinos. Roan and Vera had tamed a handful of raptors, she a pteranodon, and... "What's that cat Jack got?"

"No idea, but it can scale trees," Roan answered, "We actually only just found him before we came back here. I dont know what it is but it took out a carno pretty easy."

"Huh," Anna looked at the thing and then back at Roan, "Never thought Jack would tame something that could fight!"

Roan chuckled, "I know, its pretty cool though. I mean, it tore right through that big ugly rex wannabe."

"Nice," Anna smiled, "I kinda want one of those now." She shook her head and looked to Roan, "If we can get another flyer, or if the rafts still float," she smiled, "I can take you to that Island I've been talking about, it's not very big but there's no predators on land. Everything dangerous is in the water."

Roan nodded, "We will need flyers either way. We should strive for it regardless."

Anna smiled, "Well, we're gonna need to head back up north for argies, anyway," she shrugged and went to the catwalk that led up to the living area of the tower. "We've gotta figure out living arrangements in the fort," she giggled. When they'd built the fort, everyone was by themelves, but now they were couples.

"I'm thinking the spare rooms can just be more storage." He chuckled, "Or tear down the walls between them to make bigger rooms."

Bigger rooms would be nice... "Well," Anna smiled as she poked around the rooms. "We can always just..." She shrugged, "Go somewhere else?" She really wanted to set up shop on that herbivore island, where there were no gigas or rexes. She opened a door and saw in side Jack and Vera cuddling in their sleep, and closed the door, "Found Jack and Vera," she giggled.

Roan chuckled, "I mean, we would probably want to take that up with the others first. But I think we need to stay put for the time being. Take time to recover."

Roan nodded, gesturing to a different room, "I'm other there, the one next to mine is open."

"Good," Anna looked through the bits in her inventory to make another bed, moving to the one Roan pointed out, "We didn't get to enjoy it last time," she said as she put the bed down next to Roan's and scooted it so the two matteresses were tightly close together.
