Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

Roan looked down at the small creature, "Go play."

He sighed, making his way to her, "Anna?"

Being denied by Roan, the pegomastax instead jumped on the table to bother Jack and Vera. Lil' Chicken eyed the thing warily, if it had gotten that response what was it doing?

Anna was perched in the rafters when Roan came in, at the highest point she could find and looking around with her crossbow at every nook and cranny in the hut to shoot that little freak if it came in again. An arrow appeared in the doorway when she heard it open before she realized it was Roan. "It was on my chest!", she almost screeched.

"I'm sorry. I didnt think it would get back in," He said, jumping at the arrow by his head,"Come down, its outside."

He offered a hand to her, "It won't hurt you, I promise. Come here."

Anna grumbled and eyed the window, but did come down. "You need a box for that thing," she grumbled as she took his hand.

"So, they spent the storm together," Jack smiled at Vera.

Roan helped Anna down, pulling her into a hug, "I know I know. Jack is gonna work on a shelter for the animals. Hopefully is will stay in there."

"I noticed," Vera giggled, "I went to check on her earlier and didn't find her in her house, so I checked Roan's. Also they have the mate boost now."

"It better," Anna sighed and separated, stomach rumbling, "Is there anything to eat?"

"Neat," Jack smiled, "So now we're all just getting settled." Settled was good, that meant secure. "What did you make for lunch?" He hoped inventing the sundial didn't take up all her time, Vera's cooking was amazing.

"Dunno, we can find out though, " He answered.

"I found a recipe in one of the storage boxes. I made meatloaf ," Vera said excitedly, "And not the moschops."

At the mention of 'meatloaf', Meatloaf looked up and waddled over to demand attention. "You woke the beast," Jack joked, scratching the moschops head as Roan and Anna came over, "Where is it?" He looked at Anna and raised an eyebrow, "You need some stimulant?" Anna shook her head.

"What's this?", she pointed at the table covered in paper.

"Once everyone's eaten, we're going to figure out a plan for what we're going to turn the camp into," Jack explained.

Vera began putting the food she had made onto plates for everyone, "Good morning, Anna."

Roan looked at Anna, "Jack and Vera are gonna have a baby..."

"What?", Anna blinked and looked at Jack and Vera. "You're going to what?"

"We, uh," Jack scratched the back of his head, "Vera has a gestation bar."

"What did you two do?!"

"We mated," Vera giggled, "I dont know what part of it was 'mating' but I woke up with this bar."

"We can barely take care of ourselves and our dinos, how are we gonna take care of a baby?", Anna demanded. Baby dinos were easy to care for, just feed them and keep them from being eaten. Baby humans, on the other hand, she got the feeling that they would be so much more troublesome to keep alive.

"That's the thing," Jack tapped the paper-covered table, "We've got at least a few months to prepare. And after that storm, we've got a pretty clear view of what else whe need." He sketched out the cliff, beach, an surrounded woodland on the paper, using his map for reference. "What we need to do, is figure out what we're gonna turn this place into." He looked at Roan and Anna's heads, "If you two are mates now, are you moving in together?"

Roan looked at Anna. He didnt want to say yes if she didn't want that, "If you want to..."

Anna considered for a moment and looked away, "As long as I decide when we have a baby."

"Alright," Jack wrote that down on a piece of scrap note, "So that's two houses and a workshop." He looked at the map on the table and sketched out a couple areas, "If we claim more land inland, we'll have more space to build dino shelters, and if we build our houses in this shape," he sketched a diamond on the cliff, "We'll be able to build covered walkways between buildings we use a lot."

"I still want to build off the cliff," Anna shook her head, "So we can use the ground for stuff like crops."

"Building off the ground might not be good for babies," Vera said, shaking her head at the idea. Roan nodded, "She has a point."

"No, I mean like-" Anna sighed and sketched out what she meant, "Like a workshop, almost, so I have space to experiment with stuff without bothering anybody." She drew a little platform off the cliff. "And we're already living off a cliff, all I'm doing is extending it."

"Well if that's what you want, we can make it happen," Jack shrugged, "So Anna wants her own workspace off the cliff. Yesterday Vera and I were working on plumbing," he sketched some lines to represent pipes leading from the ocean to a reservoir in the center of the diamond for the houses, "If we put a big kitchen there, we can run our water from the ocean to there, and then run pipes under the walkways to the individual structures as needed."

"Which would also mean we could clean ourselves," Vera added, "We also made soap, though, we didn't really get to test it out.."

"Hehe," Jack looked away.

In the distance they could hear a scream and loud roars of something coming down the mountain towards them.

"The hell?" Roan said as he looked up where the screams came from. All he could see were trees eing toppled rather quickly, "Uh... guys?"

Soon the ground started shaking, and they could hear a man screaming "HELP ME!"

"Get the spino," Jack ran to get Manny, "That's a person, we gotta help him." Coming down the mountain, chasing one very unfortunate man, were two gigas. The man spotted the smoke from the group's fires and came running to seek aid from fellow humans.

"We're not alone?!" Vera yelped, rushing to let all of their dinos loose. Their best chance would be to let the animals sort things out.

Roan ran to climb onto the spino, following Jack to fight, "Thats not a rex!"

"I know!", Jack yelled as Manny opened the gate a crack to let the man in. He was scrawny, not even wearing cloth. Almost as soon as he was in, the gigas slammed into the gate, shoving Manny back and it shut. They couldn't jump over a four-tall wall, so it looked like for a moment they were safe. "It's okay, they can't get through the-" And then a massive section of the wall had a critical existence failure and was destroyed, making a giant hole for the gigas to just walk in and attack. "SHIT!"

Immediately the group's tames leapt to attack and defend their new home. And almost as quickly, the group started getting death messages. The animal's name, followed by what species it was, and an announcement that a giga killed it, flashed across their vision. The parasaurs, the raptors, wolves, the birds lasted a bit longer because they flew. And then even the spino and Manny fell, leaving the humans without mounts and mostly defenseless.

"RUN!" Roan yelled, grabbing Anna's hand and making a break for the cliff. If those things could take out every last dinosaur, they stood no chance against the two. Vera followed after Roan and Anna, pulling Jack with her, "What are those things?!"

Running, running, "I don't know!", Jack shouted, "But we gotta go!", the gigas seemed to have gotten stuck trying to get to the humans on their row of houses, and turned their attention to biting through it. Even Jack's stone foundations were bitten through, beds destroyed before the gigas caught up on the beach. Dinoless and not armed for this, the gigas quickly caught up, biting one at a time.

"Your tribemate Jack, level 40, was killed by Giga!", flashed across their eyes as one took Jack, then the same message for Vera, Roan, and Anna in turn. These things had powerful bites, and they quickly killed and ate the humans.

Each of them saw black for a moment, and then a point of light illuminationg in the shape of their respawn medallions and then they woke up again, just like when they first appeared on the beaches. But they were in different areas, and very separate from each other.

Roan found himself on the edge of a river just on the edge of the snow biome to the northwest of the volcano. Vera found herself on the edge of a lake far away to the southwest. Jack woke on a beach on the eastern edge of the redwoods, and Anna woke up floundering in the ocean to the southeast. All of them naked save for the same undergarments that were on them when they first spawned on the beaches, with no equipment save their implants, and their medallions all having a cooldown for several days.

Roan looked around. He didnt quite recognize the area, but he knew that he couldn't be far from where he died, "If I can get back... maybe I can get supplies..."

Vera on the otherhand, had no idea where she was. She was confused and lose, "Where am i..."
