Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

Anna raised an eyebrow, "Would walk straight off a steep cliff for no reason?" Without something solid, ish, for dinos to stand on, a roofless trap was relying exclusively on dinos being consistently stupid enough to do just that, which they hadn't seen any indication of.

"Hey, we have two idiots that did that to escape raptors, I'm just saying," Vera replied.

"Hey!" Roan called defensively.

"Exactly, they were escaping something," Anna partially came to Roan's defense, "It wasn't entirely a retarded move. But you're assuming that that's going to happen each day." She looked at where the fight was happening, "We could even use thatch for the collapsing ceiling, cheap enough to be replaced daily, and leave berries piled in the middle for bait."

"Your idea," Vera shrugged. Roan thought for a moment, "Seems like there's more carnivores here. Maybe meat instead of berries?"

Anna pointed at the argies, "If we leave meat, the birds'll get it before anything else does. If we use berries, it'll attract the herbivores, and they'll attract carnivores." The bait attracts better bait, as it were.

Roan nodded, taking in the thought process, "Good point. How big should we make it?"

Anna looked at some of the carnivores running around. "Big." She spread her arms, "Very big, have you seen how big stegos are?"

"Thats gonna be a bit of resources," Roan nodded, "Start now or later?"

Anna looked at where the fight was still going on, "Let's work on getting the doedi and argies today, we'll set the trap when we've got the time and Jack's built houses." That way they weren't taking resources from ongoing projects. She stood and stretched her neck as far as she could to look around, "I can see a doedi over there," she pointed to a curled up snow white doedicurus with black markings and spikes being clawed at by a few raptors.

"Lets go then," Roan said, ready to deal with the raptors. Vera nodded, readying her crossbow, "Anna? Lead the way?"

"Ready as I'll ever be," Anna nodded, "Let's send the raptors in, let them keep the wild ones busy, we'll shoot from here and run over once it's safe," she whistled for the raptors' attention and pointed in the direction of the wild pack, "Go!" From this distance the raptors couldn't see the wildpack, but once they got close and were attacked, they were quite eager to fight. "Don't hit our dinos," Anna warned as she took aim.

"Easier said than done," Roan replied. The raptors were all running circles around each other.

"I didn't say it would be easy," Anna shrugged, "Just try." At least the circle was consistent, since they hadn't put any points into making the raptors faster, so if they timed their shots right they could reliably hit something besides their raptors.

After a few moments, the wild raptors were all down. It took a lot less arrows than they thought it might.

Anna nodded and lowered her crossbow when the last raptor went down and their raptors came running back to their masters once they'd eaten the corpses. "Let's go."

The doedicurus was still curled in its shell, healing from what the raptors had done to it. That made it extremely difficult to tranq, but it was immobile and there were three hunters, so it did lose consciousness eventually. "Herbivores like mejoberries, right?", Anna looked around at the bushes, "I'll get some, who's got narcotics?"

"I got the Narcotics," Roan said as he knelt beside the creature, "Get some other berries too for it to eat."

"I can't control what comes out of the bush," Anna reminded Roan as she went around tearing bushes apart for berries. Once she had a good amount in her inventory, she came back to put the berries in the doedi's so it could eat.

"One of us needs to sit here and babysit," Anna said, "The others need to go make birds angry." She looked around to see if there were any argies nearby.

"Who stays then? Are we taking them down to just pissing them off?" Vera asked.

Anna facepalmed, "Vera, how much of the planning today have you been paying attention to?" Vera was the one that first announced she wanted a bird, in order to drop it to tame it, they had to piss it off so it would focus on them. That was how it worked for everything that wasn't a passive tame.

"I'm just asking, " she said with a shrug. Roan sighed, "Stay with the dedicated. Ill go with Anna."

Anna nodded, "Occisor, stay here." She pointed at the ground near the Doedi, "If it attacks, eat it." She raised her crossbow and checked her arrow count, "I hope these birds aren't hard to knock out."

"They don't seem to turn easy. Honestly, we could use that to our advantage, " Roan suggested.
