Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"That might work," Roan commented, "Theyre both flyers. So maybe we can just alter it a bit to fit the birds."

"Well, i got good news and bad news," Jack said, looking at his engrams again. "Good news is, we'll be able to make it soon. Bad news is, It's out of our engram range."

"So we've gotta improvise," Anna nodded, "Okay, that shouldn't be too hard."

"Or we can wait a night," Jack offered, "If we get engrams tomorrow, we can unlock it, and we'll be able to turn out something consistent we can modify." He looked down at the smithy as it dinged, "OH! I made a saddle for Manny." He grabbed the saddle and jogged over to the mammoth to equip the saddle onto the beast. What popped on was a large saddle, with reins, and a platform on the back with a massive drum mounted in front of it.

"What's the drum for?", Anna asked.

"I don't know."

"Thats kind of cool, honestly," Vera said, "I dont know what its for, but that drum is awesome."

Roan chuckled, "OK, so we wait until tomorrow to get the saddle. I wonder what else we will unlock. "

"Hmm," Jack climbed up to the saddle and around to the drum, "This has to do something, or it wouldn't be part of the saddle," he assumed that was true, anyway. No other saddle so far had weird attachments. "I'm gonna try something." He pulled out a piece of wood and hit the drum. It was loud, and everyone's implants blinked, giving a pale flash. They could see their staminal bars rising faster than before, and a little symbol said they were immune to fear for the duration.

"Well, that's cool," Anna noted, she hadn't really been paying attention but it was hard to ignore the implant. "Hey, Jack, Roan's been having trouble naming his bird!"

"Immune to fear?" Roan muttered, "The hell does that mean?"

Before he could take a moment to think about it he heard Anna speak, "No, I wanna name him!"

Presumably, fear was a status effect, like how when Lil' Chicken attacked Jack and Vera were stunned. Jack and Anna both laughed at Roan's reaction. "What's wrong? You scared I'm gonna name him 'Birdy'?", Jack joked.

"I CALLED IT!", Anna whooped.

"You're not naming my bird!" Roan said defensively and went over to his bird, who now had a golden name tag reading 'Birdy', "SON OF A-"

Well now Jack was rolling around on the saddle laughing. Karma came to bite the giant in the ass when he rolled right off of the platform and landed on his back on the ground. It wasn't a high fall, but it hurt like hell. "OW! Shit!"

"Gravity works," Anna said between fits of laughter. This would never not be funny.

Roan glared over at Jack, "Man, he could have had a cool name and now he's called Birdy... BIRDY!"

Vera giggled, "Its kind of funny."

"You can probably change his name, he's had it five minutes," Anna shook her head, "Until you come up with it, though, he's Birdy."

"Still!" Roan whined, staring at his bird, "Could have been like... Ra... or something."

"Ra?" Vera asked, "What?"

"Egyptian sun god," Roan answered before getting a look of confusion, "What? How do I know thst ans what does thst even mean?"

"There's that word again!" Jack pointed, "What does 'god' mean?"

"Apparently it's important," Anna shrugged, "We know what the sun is, what's 'Egyptian'?" Maybe if they could figure out the words around it, they could figure out the word!

"No idea, but I think... its a place," Roan answered, following a gut feeling.

"Maybe its a creature of sorts." Vera suggested.

"A place of the sun, something important..." Jack scratched the side of his face in thought, "What like supply drops on the beach?"

"It does seem like a god would do something helpful," Anna nodded, "Maybe a god is just a concept to explain something we don't know?" She gestured up at the sun. "I mean apparently Ra is a 'Sun God', maybe the sun is Ra, or just a way to explain the sun. I mean, do you know why it moves and it's hot? I don't."

"Good point," Vera commented, "So are you naming your bird Ra then?"

Roan was quiet for a moment, "Yes. His name is Ra."

With the decision made, the bird's name tag now read, "Ra."

"I don't think your bird's a god," Anna nudged.

"I don't think yours is an ember," Jack commented. Around that tame Rocky came waddling back, slowed down by the weight of the stone on her back. "Well, she trains quick," Jack noted. "Speaking of," he ran over to the preserving bin to get Meatloaf a treat, she'd been well-behaved today.

"And I dont think the Doedi is a Rock," Roan added. At the smell of the meat, Meatloaf came running, as always, mouth open, tongue out.

"Good girl," Jack smiled and tossed the meat for the moschops to snap up. "If Rocky keeps going around gathering stone like this, I'll be able to put the foundations down tomorrow morning." He already had an idea for what house he'd build himself, "Do you guys have anything special you want?"

Meatloaf nudged Jack's leg happily as a form of thanks before laying down nearby. Roan chuckled, "I just want somewhere warm to lay."

Jack rolled his eyes at Roan's response, "One-by-one flat roof, got it," he smirked, "Seriously, though."

"I'll take something small, maybe a little wood cabin?", Anna asked, "I'm probably gonna spend a lot of time in it."

"Tiny wood cabin, what about you, Vera?"

"I think a tiny wood cabin sounds nice," Vera nodded, agreeing with Anna, "That or a stone one."

Jack blinked. "You serious? You know I'll build whatever you want, you don't have to worry about that."

"Yeah, it's fine," Anna nodded, "Small house means more space for dinos." Jack's eyelid twitched, he threw up his hands and walked away.

"I think we broke him."

"Besides, we don't want use resources that could go toward other things," Vera added.
