Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

Anna frowned, "But it's doesn't look that bad." Jack raised an eyebrow.

"You wanna see?"

"Yeah!" One attempt at a ride later and Anna was joining Roan at the "That's a lot of Nope!" table when it came to mammoth riding.

Seeing Anna sharing his reaction gave Roan a nice laugh, "Told you."

Anna hobbled back to the benches while Jack nudged Manny through the frame of the new gate structure. It looked like it would work. Jack's implant buzzed, "New structure Unlocked: Wooden Double-Dinosaur Gate Frame, Wooden Double-Dinosaur Gate." Jack raised an eyebrow, "I didn't know we could make our own engrams!"

Roan looked to Anna, "That thing needs a warning label."

He then looked over at Jack, "Did you say you made your own engram?"

'Yeah," Jack held up his crafting menu, "I thought I just gonna have to build that again, but apparently it's close enough to to an existing structure." It did seem to basically just be a scaled up version of the double-doorframe. "Recipe's expensive, though." Jack made a face.

"Does that need a warning label?", Anna asked.

"Probably not," Jack shrugged, "But I need to rebuild the area around the gate if we're gonna be using these."

Roan shocked his head, "I was talking about Manny. Manny needs a warning label..."

"I meant the- Never mind," Anna rolled her eyes, "I'm gonna go feed Vera." She took a plate and went to go give Vera food.

"Hey, when we get a saddle for him, he's gonna be amazing, though," Jack grinned. He liked herbivores much more than carnivores.

"Right on," Jack smirked, "I'll put the gate up in the morning, and start working on walling off sections of the beach down below for us."

"Thanks," Jack took the plate, and parked it, "So, mammoths get wood and thatch, moscops fiber and berries, predators meat," he looked around, "If we can get something for flint, stone, thatch, and metal, we'll pretty much never have to worry about resources again."

Jack nodded, "Probably, the tail club looks kinda like a pickaxe, anyway." he shrugged, "Taming one's gonna be a bitch, though." He opened his engrams but couldn't find a saddle, and cringed at the thought of trying to ride it, "But using it's gonna be hell!"

"Might have to wait on that one," Roan nodded, "One wrong move and... thats gonna hurt."

Jack shuddered, "We've can get flint, I'm not worried about that, and we can always hop on the parasaurs and bring Manny for carry weight if we need metal, but everything else we can wait on." He looked in his engrams again, "At the very least if we can get a proper saddle on Manny, I'll be able to do more with him." He looked at Meatloaf waddling around, mildly annoying the raptors as the oblivious lizard tried to eat a bush growing in the center of the huddle. "Dinosaurs are weird."

"She's cute. Kind of dumb." Roan laughed as he followed Jack's line of sight, "Kind of like a dog... what a dog?"

"Hmm," Jack frowned, "I think it's like a..." He picked up a stick and drew something in the dirt. it looked kinda similar to the sabercats, but with a slightly different build and a diferent head shape, with a different tail. "I think that's what dogs are."

Roan nodded, "Maybe. There's a lot of fluffy things in the colder region.:

Jack shrugged, "I guess we'll find out." Once the houses were built he'd probably join the group on their taming and hunting runs. Jack set the stick down and yawned, "It's getting late."

Nodding, Jack put his plate away and moved Manny to a better sleeping area, before heading in for bed.

When morning came, everyon'es implants buzzed, eager to announce levels up.

Vera woke to the sound of her implant and sat up, "Ooh! Look at that."

She thought for a moment before putting both of her points into her fortitude, "that'll keep me warm, right?"

"Hmm?", Anna yawned as she sat up, looking at her implant, "Oh." She put a point into Stamina, figuring she'd probably be doing more running in the near future. She got up and stretched, "Jack claimed the mammoth," she announced to the other woman, "He named it 'Manny'."

Over in the men's tent, Jack woke up to his implant buzzing and palmed his face as he woke. He frowned at what he felt, his face had been feeling bristly for the last few days but now the bristles were turning into actual facial hair. Most of the group's hair was growing out, actually. "Roan," he flicked a piece of flint across the room to wake Roan up while he looked at his implant, putting all three points into Melee Damage before he got up to move around.
