Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

Roan groaned as he kept having to turn around and shoot the large furry beast, "Damn it... Come on!"

"Geez, this water is even cooler, what gives?" Vera whined. She couldn't handle the cold as well as the others for some reason.

Eventually, through no small amount of antagonizing the mammoth until it looked like it was about to die from the damage anyway, it collapsed on the edge of the safe area in sight of the cliff where the wall was forming.

"Let's just," Anna was shivering now too, "Let's just get to Roan." She started swimming and the raptors hobbled to land as quick as their masters could keep up with.

"Yea, come on," Vera agreed, racing in Roan's direction. Meanwhile, Roan worked on taming the beast and keeping it down.

Back on land, the girls were soaked but would hopefully dry out before hypothermia set in, and were able to race back to Roan as the mammoth started eating berries. They hadn't expected to be taming an herbivore, so there were a few moments of panicked ripping berries off of bushes to keep the behemoth fed. It seemed like it would take forever to tame like the spino had, the mammoth, which the header said "Wild Male Mammoth", wasn't getting hungry as quickly as the trio would like.

Fortunately, healing from near fatal damage required food, and once that started it was much better.

Roan sighed in relief as the beast began to eat, "Thank God. I was really hoping it wouldn't take forever."

Vera shivered, watching Roan work, "Dibs on riding it, it looks warm."

"What's God?" Anna had heard that term thrown around in the group, and thrown it around herself, but never stopped to consider what it meant until she was huddling with an unconscious mammoth for warmth.

"I... dont know," Roan answered as he focused on the mammoth, "Its just something that we've been saying."

"How?" He asked, "I mean I agree, but how?"

"Its not like we have someone we.can go to that knows these things." Vera muttered.

"I don't know?", Anna shrugged, "I just know we need to be able to understand what we're saying." She looked at the mammoth's taming bar, it looked like it would be a couple hours before the bar was full.

"For now, lets build a fire before you and I freeze," Vera said softly. Roan nodded, "You two keep an eye on this thing. I'll make the fire."

Before they had the chance to argue, Roan got to work getting the stuff together to make their fire.

Anna huddled into the mammoth's fur while Roan build the fire, "Let's not play chicken again<' she decided, "When there's ocean in the path."

Vera nodded, "At least not in the icy area."

It didn't take long before Roan had a fire going, "Here, huddle by the fire."

"Thank you," Anna smiled at Roan and scooted closer to the fire and the man that apparently radiated enough heat to not be effected by the cold temperature in the area. "Do you think Jack's doing okay?"

"I hope so," Roan answered. Vera got close to the fire and tried soaking up a much of the heat as she could.

Back up at the main camp, Jack sneezed and screwed up a wall placement. "Dammit."

"He's probably fine."

After a while, the mammoth's taming bar reached full, and the thing got up and shook off the dirt and sand and crud that had stuck to its side in the mud. A clump landed straight on the campfire and put it out. "Oh that's just great!", Anna complained.

"Good news, we can head back to the warmer part of the island." Roan commented.

Anna nodded and climbed onto Occisor, "Let's just go." The mammoth was very slow, so getting back took longer. By the time they got back, Jack had already finished the wall between their cliff and the forest, and was starting to lay down foundations to get homes going.

Vera was the one who climbed the large furry beast, keeping warm as they made their way home. Once they get the the camp, Vera sighed.

"We're back," Roan called out.

"Nice," Jack nodded, not turning around until he heard the mammoth trumpet. "What is that?"

"It's a mammoth," Anna made straight for the cookfire, "We got it for wood."

"It plowed right through the trees," Roan added.

Vera grumbled and got off the mammoth, making her way inside to a nice warm blanket. Roan chuckled, "She didn't like the cold."

"Well, that's good," Jack noted, "I was starting to run low." He gestured to the wall, "What do you think? I think it's solid."

"We're cold and wet, shut up!" Anna complained, "And you two stay out of our hut! We've gotta dry out clothes." She ducked into the hut to join Vera in trying to get warm in an enclosed space, and dry her belongings.

Roan chuckled, watching them leave, "Lets test that mammoth out."
