Across the Tracks, Right?

Jamie looked at him curiously, sitting down on the edge of his bed and watching him look through his closet. It didn't make sense. His words didn't compute in her mind, coming across as a blur of noise until she could think about them. She pushed her hair to the side, the shaved part showing again.

"You want to... what?" she asked uncertainly. "You can't be serious. You cannot seriously want me to take you to my side of the fence." she shook her head. "Because you stopped me from going home, remember? Now you want me to take you back with me? What are you expecting me to do there? Show you around? Introduce you to my family as my new owner?"

Quin looked dissapointed. "No I wasn't I mean....not like that." He grumbled, sitting down. "I was planning on hiding your mark, pretending I not a mage and just...getting a tour?" He wasn't sure how to phrase it. "I want to know what your side is like....I guess." He shifted.

"How could I not be curious? I just want to learn a few things, about over there...about the stories...about you, Jamie. I want to know where you're coming from. Come on please? I won't cast spells, I won't case trouble, and I'll listen to you for a change. Maybe. Sometimes. It depends. Most the time though."

Jamie rested her forehead against Quin's shoulder, inhaling and exhaling slowly. She didn't know why she was so frustrated by his request, and she didn't want to be frustrated. Her arms slipped around his waist, and she continued to breathe slowly, calming herself down. She stayed there for a long while, holding Quin close, her head on his shoulder.

"Okay." she whispered hesitantly. "I'll take you. But we can't go anywhere near my father. Deal?" she lifted her head to look up at him, her lips close to his cheek. If he turned his head, his lips would graze hers.

Quin leaned back, crossing his legs and holding onto his feet. Smilinhg as she wraped her arms around him. "Really? Okay, no where near your father. I promise, cross my heart let's go!" He moved his hand over and patted her head. Like an excited kid trying to reassure someone but it wasn't working. When he turned he realised their lips were close....very close.

He kissed her by impulse and turned his body whike releasing his feet. Moving to hug her back. He moved back and smiled. "I'll be careful, you just need to tell me how to fit it right?" He asked, licking his lips in thought.

Jamie relaxed as he kissed her, letting him pull her closer as he hugged her. She stood up slowly, walking over to his closet and looking through it. She picked out a pair of jeans, some sneakers, and a black t-shirt. "Put these on... And uh, maybe give me back my other clothes. I look suspicious like this. It might blend in here, but not across the fence."

She threw his clothes onto the bed beside him. "How do you know I won't just run away when we get there? Call for help and disappear?" she asked, biting her lip and looking him up and down.

Quin nodded and grabbed them. Taking off his current shirt and putting the black one on. Then putting on a jacket over it. Her clothes were luckily clean and in his bottem drawer so he dug around and found them. Handing them over before looked up with a slight smile. She was lettin him do this, she didn't know how excited he was did she? However....the last part made him uncomfortable as doubt swirled up in his chest.

He looked back to her before smiling. "You...wouldn't do that." She wouldn't right? He didn't want her to think he didn't trust her. However he understood how likely that possiblilty was. He shifted before going quiet, finding some other clothes that he thought would work. Not saying much after. He wasn't sure if he should be angry with himself....or with her idea. Would she do that? He'd have to trust she wouldn't.

Jamie picked up her clothes and walked into the bathroom, changing back into them. When she walked out of the bathroom again, she had her shoulders held further back, and a smile on her face. She felt like herself again. She frowned as she realised how tense Quin looked, tracing her finger over the mark on her wrist.

"I won't run." she told him quietly. "I promise. No running away. I wouldn't mess up things between you and your father by doing that. It'd be stupid of me." she smiled, her fingers grazing her lips as she remembered their kiss. "Besides," she grinned playfully. "I like kissing you."

Quin had finished packing lightly when she came back. Putting everything in his backpack before looking back when she came out. He had fully changed as well, and the result was slightly uncomfortable. He didn't wear jeans often. He had been worrying suddenly, however Jamie reassuring him did help.

He smiled lightly, a more relieved smiled then quirky before laughing. "Don't tempt me please." He requested, moving lightly towards her. "Let's go then. This is the usual time for me to check the walls. Its normal for me to wink out for a couple days on weekends anyways. Its a long border you know."

Jamie smiled as he moved closer, pressing herself against the doorframe a little, her back arching. She pushed herself off the doorframe quickly, then pulled her black hoodie over her red shirt, knowing that she needed to blend in until they got to the border. She followed Quin out of the house, remaining silent as they walked towards the border. It scared her, to think that she could get caught on her side. The humiliation of someone seeing her mark, especially her father or her friends, would kill her.

She ducked through a hole in the border with Quin, removing the hoodie and leaving it at the border as she walked into the city. Buildings looked much the same as the other side, but they were covered in graffiti - beautiful graffiti that coloured the city, rather than destroyed it. "So, this is my side..." she told him. "It doesn't really look that different."

Quin smiled, following after her casually and slipping into his usual lazy walk that he did while a patrolling. Hesitating for a second before moving through the hole. There was a feeling of excitment, and the color on the other side plauged his eyes. It smelled a little different. Just a bit. It made his heart pound and adrenalline rush through his veins.

He smiled giddily before grabbing Jamie's wrist and snapping his fingers quietly. The mark faded before sinking into her skin. He could see it still, it was like magic had printed her veins. However after he stopped trying it was gone. He'd have to focus to see the soft traces of the mark. It didn't change that it was there, and that she belonged to him though. "Its cool. Show me around, come on!"

Jamie laughed a little, taking his hand and jogging through the streets, winding through some alley ways and stopping in front of an apartment building. She kept hold of his hand, quickly running up the fire escape stairs on the outside of the building, and sliding open a window to an apartment, slipping into the window.

It was, of course, her apartment. It had walls lined with bookshelves, crowded full of books of all sorts of genres and topics. Her kitchen was clean, and her bedroom door was closed. She smiled, inhaling the familiar scent. It smelled like leather, because of the couch sitting there. "I live here. Or, used to..."

Quin looked around the whole time. Taking in how different this side was. How exciting! He huffed before jumping on the couch and releasing a sigh. "So nkce, it smells so sharp..." I mumbled, rolling over before sighing, his bag falling open and a few things falling out. Quin blinked before frowning....and picked up Jamie's cell phone from the mess.

"So um, I brought this. I thought...I mean its a communication device right? Are people worrying about you? Er..." he huffed feeling kind of...jealous that people would. Before tucking the cellphone underneath him suddenly and refusing to budge. "On second thought. Fight me for it."

Jamie jumped at the sight of her cell phone. "You... you brought it?" she asked, perking up immediately. She was about to take it from him when he put it underneath him. She groaned, hesitating. Closing the space between them would surely make her nervous, and her heart race. She knew it would likely lead to more kissing.

She smiled and moved towards him, trying to pull it out from underneath him, resisting the urge to sit on top of him.

Quin huffed and flattened himself on the couch, sinking into its sharp smell. "You'll have to try harder..." he mumbled, still being a bit pouty about it. It was stupid and usually he never felt...upset over something like this. Howv,ever...jealous? Jealous?! Why would he feel, she had really sent him in for a loop.

He completely cut her off from his belly by sort of flipping to his side, clutching the phone to his chest before looking back to her with a teasing smirk of being pleased with himself. "I thought you'd be faster at this..." he taunted, grinning cheekily at her lack of progress.

Jamie raised an eyebrow, laughing and leaping onto him, straddling his waist and pushing him down flat, her smile widening as she began to try to pry the phone from his hands. She forgot how vulnerable her position was, about the sexual tension between them, laughing as they fought for the phone, enjoying the play.

"Aw, come on." she laughed. "If you give me the phone, I'll get off of you..." she promised, grinning down at him.
(tapatalk keeps saying you've replied, but the site has nothing....)

(Eh really? I didn't respond because I passed out @_@))

Quin huffed at her suddenly moving on top of him before trying to escape. "I didn't know you were into that." He mumbled, tugging the phone back before it flew out of his hand and scattered on the floor. "Ack!"

He attempted to move out from under her before grabbing her around the waist instead and pulling her to him. "Not letting you escape! I'll get it back somehow so uh...he was at a loss as to what to do."

Jamie was about to leap for her phone when his hands moved to her waist. She froze for a moment, aware of every point of her body that his hands were touching. She bit her lip anxiously, her heart racing and her mind a blur. "I..." She tried to speak but couldn't seem to find words.

A second later she leaned down to kiss him, her hands tangling in his hair and her heart still racing as she pressed against him. She felt herself kissing harder, her body pressing harder, and after a few minutes, pulled away and slipped off his lap. "I... Uh... Sorry..."

Shim was surprised when she leaned forward. His mind set still focused on the phone before she suddenly kissed him again. Was she a monster? But he had kissed back so he was equally guilty, his heart had hammered dangerously in his chest and rattled him up like usual. Her hands running through his haor felt like fire. It took him a minute to remember how to breath.

When she pulled back Quin laughed softly. "Its fine. I can't say I didn't like it." He mumbled, forgetting about the phone as he leaned back on the couch and breathed in slowly. She had pulled back too soon, but to say that made him feel awkward.

Jamie sat down on the floor by the couch, her head right near Quin's chest. "Sorry. For pulling away so fast. I just, uh, I don't know how much experience you have of making out in couches, but that level of intensity often ends in clothes being removed and I wasn't sure you wanted that..."

She leaned her head back so it touched his chest, meeting his eyes. "So, uh, this is my apartment. It's nothing fancy, but it's mine until they decide I'm gone for good and sell it..."

"Don't apologise for something like that but uh...I wasn't going to...strip you or anything weird." He mumbled, looking confused. You could see that he was a bit more sheltered then most to a point that it was slightly ridiculous. Then again, he never watched any movies and only read books on leadership.

"Nice place! You're here for now right? They won't take it away. Right? Do you have to check in or something? So, show me the machines! Your magic! I want to see that."

Jamie laughed, "it's not so much that...stripping... Is a..." She blushed, not used to having to explain this to someone. She shook her head, hiding her bright red cheeks and laughing quietly. "Kissing doesn't always just stay as kissing, if you know what I mean..." She mumbled, looking up at him with just her eyes visible.

Grateful for the topic change, she stood up. "Our day to day lives aren't exactly full of machines. At least, mine isn't. The rich people have machines that do everything for them. Cook, clean, wipe their bottoms after they go to the toilet... But this part of town isn't exactly fancy." She shrugged. "I'm guessing you want to see some of the fancy part?"

Quin stared at her before his eyes widened and he glanced away. Oh. Ohhhh. Was that where that was supposed to go? Is that what she wanted? He was confused now and decided that if something like that happened again...er, he would...ask? No no no no....that was... he didn't have to think about that now. He was the master. Why would he ask?

He thought of his father and cringed.

He gladly took on her next statement, mentally patting himself on the back for bringing up something else for them to talk about without meaning to. "Fancy part? I was happy just seeing the graffitti. We used to make murals with magic you know. I would in school. I would show you but I don't know if they can sense magic here..." he mumbled before laughing.

"Back to the fancy thing, I really do want to see the mechanical things! Like robots and what you use to build....I heard you use machines to help you go up and down floors too. I mean...er...we have magic ones but its not the same..."

Jamie smiled, "I'll show you. Just, uh, give me a minute." she walked into the bedroom and closed the door, slipping on a pair of jeans and a leather jacket, along with some boots, before walking out again. Her bedroom was, put bluntly, a mess. Clothes were strewn everywhere, and books sat in piles against the walls. She closed the door, hoping that Quin wouldn't get curious about the contents.

"Come on, then." she smiled at him, walking out the front door rather than taking the fire escape. She pushed the button on the elevator and waited until the door opened, leading Quin inside. "So, it isn't magic," she pointed up to the glass ceiling that revealed all of the mechanics behind it. "It's pretty cool, though." she took his hand as the door opened again, leading him out of the building and down some side streets.

The further they walked, the cleaner the city got. "Alright, now, we can't be seen here, so... we have to just watch from here. Got it?" she leaned against the side of an alley way. Just on the other side of the road was the hub of all the city business. Robotic messengers buzzed around the ground, and tubes on the outside of the huge glass building carried messages through them. People rushed back and forth wearing fancy suits, and if a surface wasn't made of glass, it was made of bright steel without a scratch, or it was white. The sight was blinding.

"This is where my father works." Jamie whispered.

Quin tried not to be too involved in the elevator since she might laugh at him. It was hard to think that this was normal to them. It made him uncomfortable really. How could they adjust to something like this? Then again they possibly thought the same of magic.

The further and further they got away from the apartment though was when Quin was really getting excited. His eyes attemoting to stick to everything he saw. He could only barely heed her warnings as he wandered with his head attempting to wrap around the mechanics of this world.

It was when they got right infront of the building that her father worked was when his eyes widened. He was a little confused though. He looked around as if trying to find something important. However he really wasn't sure where it was, leavingna puzzled expression on his face. "Hey Jamie, let's leave..." he mumbled, looking around the area in a concerned way.
