Across the Tracks, Right?

"I just need to get some rest, my mana is just low...its like...health bar but not." He complained, staring up to her before closing his eyes and letting her rub his shoulders. "I need tk be ready for tomorrow since that favor I wantes to ask..." he paused and glanced up to Jamie. "I'm not sure if you'll like it."

Asking Jamie to take him to her side of the wall was dangerous, especially after a council meeting where he might change his opinion. He didn't want to suddenly switch on her. "I'll be there in a minute. I promise..."

Jamie nodded, moving her hands to rub the sides of his head gently, her thumbs tracing circles on his temple. "Do you want me to go be humble and contrite and stuff with your father while you rest? I can keep my temper under control." she assured him, leaning down to kiss his forehead, then his nose, and then his lips once more. "Or I can sit here and do this, I guess." she shrugged, laughing quietly.

"I'm not sure what will hapoen kf you go on your own." He whispered, letting her do what she was doing. Not minding her at all and actually enjoying the attention. As well as her gentle actions. He closed his eyes slowly, before taking a slow breath.

"Are you succor you'll be okay. How sure? Positive? I can still come. I'm just a little.sick is all."

Jamie laughed quietly, "I'll be fine." she assured him, gently moving his head from her lap and onto the pillow. "Stay put. I'll be back." she kissed him one more time before leaving the room, closing the door gently and heading downstairs. Quin's father raised his voice not long later, but Jamie's voice remained unheard.

She came back fifteen minutes later, letting out a short sigh. "It's okay. I'm okay." she said quietly.

Quin had waited for a while, listening as his father yelled before closing his eyes and falling asleep where she had left him. His face a slight red from his fever. Ironically, he was feverish about the results. He couldn't figure out why he couldnt find Jamie in his dream.

When Jamie came back he had moved to his bed and was facing away from her asleep, only barely hearing her voice as it rustled him out of his dream. He opened his eyes quietly and turned over carefully, "What happened....?"

Jamie approached the bed and lay down, resting her head on Quin's stomach. "I answered some questions... told him what I knew about the power grid on my side of the city, explained what my job was in taking parcels between sides of the city, and then listened to him yell at me for a little before apologising and being told that I could go."

She peered up at Quin, shrugging. "Are you okay? You look... you don't look too good..."

Quin smiled. "I'm glad you didn't come back mute." He wispered, playing with Jamie's hair since it was in his reach. Carefully untangling what he could. He only barely heard the next question.

"I'm just a tiny bit sick." He stated. "But you won't get sick from it. Its a mana thing....." he said, hoping that maxe her relieved.

Jamie nodded, making small, happy sound as he played with her hair. She wasn't used to gentle physical contact, and it was nice to feel his fingers entangled in her hair. Her eyes slipped closed and she smiled. "I'm not worried about getting sick. I'm okay. I'm worried about you. Do you need to stop using magic for a bit?" she tilted her head to the side to look up at Quin, her eyes meeting his.

His words from earlier were bouncing around her mind - could he fall in love with her? What did he think he could do if he did? What would change? What would he do with her? She didn't know what to think and so she tried to not think about it.

Quin nodded. "Yeah, I need to take a magic break for a bit. I've used too much within two days..." He mumbled, closing his eyes and sighing. "I can't believe how much energy goes into all of...this. What would you call it? Living this style of life? Getting angry...it's been along time. Remember when I said that there are two different types of magic users? Ones who's mana just depletes and those who go out of control when they're tired? I'm the second one. So my mana just....goes."

He smiled slightly. I wish things were as easy as can be. You know they say stuff like...'like magic!' and act all amazed when something gets done quickly? Real magic isn't like that. Life wasn't made for miracles."

Jamie listened to him speak, trying to wrap her head around the ideas he was giving her about magic. She had always assumed that magic just... worked... but he was showing her that every action had a reaction, even with magic. She shifted again, moving so she was laying close beside Quin, one of her arms wrapped gently around him, her face close to his. "I'm sorry you've had to use it so much." she whispered, her forehead resting against his.

He blinked at her sudden closeness. Before shaking his head. "Don't apologize." He mumbled, touching her face gently before dragging her closer to him and sighing. "I'll get better if I don't move, if I just sleep probably." He mumbled, wanting that to be the case and wanting it to happen. He didn't want to take any medicine for something like this since it was pathetic. Though he was running a headache that was the level of an earthquake, though the whole time he tried to keep a straight face. "It's not your fault okay?" He repeated.

Jamie nodded, feeling herself pressed up close against Quin's body. She shifted for a moment, pulling the blanket over the both of them and planting one more small kiss on his lips. "I know it's not my fault. Well, it sort of is... but... I won't blame myself. I promise. You told me not to speak badly of myself, so I wont." she whispered. "Goodnight."

She stayed beside him all night, her body close to his and her legs intertwined with his. She needed comfort, and she found it as she slept. Her body and mind both relished the actual bed, and the fact that there was someone close beside her. She woke up slowly in the morning, groaning quietly and peering at Quin.

Quin only woke up to the shifting next to him. He stretched and turned over, only hugging the person like a pillow before realizing who is was. He stopped, before hugging Jamie anyway and closing his eyes again. Taking a long breath to suck in her scent. "Good morning." He whispered quietly, before kissing her forehead and tucking his head between her neck and chest. "Good night." He mumbled again. Deciding that that worked just fine.

He didn't move for a bit before her moved closer to her and huffed. "I have to get up don't I?' He asked, frowning deeply.

Jamie laughed as he fell asleep again, her arms wrapping around him tighter and closing her eyes as she let herself drift into that place between asleep and awake, happy being there and content to stay there. She looked at him when he woke up again, smiling. "I have no right to tell you what to do, so... well, you can do whatever it is that you want." she smiled.

((Ah snap I thought I replied!))

He really just wanted to stay there and pretend he was sick a little longer, but the haziness from the night before had lessened and Quin had probably overcome the brunt of his fever. "I have to join father at the council meeting." He rumbled, closing his eyes in disappointment before shaking his head. This was what he wanted, he couldn't complain. Over the night he had probably snapped right back into his lazy attitude.

After a few more mites, Quin finally completely removed himself from his bed. Dragging his feet loathsomely to the closet, grabbing appropriate and nice clothes and moving to the bathroom to take a shower and shave afterwards. He was prepared, most likely, for todays venture. however Quin had realized that his father might say something to him about the night before. Which he didn't remember well. He'd just have to hope that his father didn't gag him after a while....

Jamie looked at him from her place on the bed, still slowly waking up. She had slept surprisingly well, considering the strange circumstances she found herself in. Looking at Quin, she imagined the possibility of them falling in love, and she had to admit that she wasn't all together opposed to the idea. She watched him walk into the bathroom, running a hand through her hair and peeking at the mark on her wrist before laying back down to enjoy a few more minutes rest while Quin showered.

When he came out of the shower, she smiled at him. "Hey," she said, hugging a pillow to herself. "Do you want me to do anything while you're out today? I'll keep my mouth shut and not cause trouble. Just, uh, give me something to keep me occupied, please?"
(sorry that took so long - brain full.)

Quin sighed, stretching in his official clothes and frowning. This would be painful. Well, the suit would be. He had to brush his hair in a neatish way, and make sure everything was all alligned.

He wasn't sure what she could do... "Today you could help everyone else around the hoise right? .....I mean you can't fix the window, and you cleaned this place up well enough....they'd have plenty of things for you to do. Promise."

"Got it." Jamie told him, quietly admiring the way he looked in a suit. She stood up and stretched, pushing her hair to the side so the shaved part was visible. She leaned against the wall and smiled a little, "Can I shower first? Is it okay if I use your shower or do I need to go outside and get hosed down?" she smirked, clearly being sarcastic.

She was nervous about him leaving her for the day, but knowing that his father would also be gone was a source of comfort to her.

(I keep passing out))

Quin nodded. "Sure, but uh, I don't think we usually hose down servants...." He at least didn't, which made him a little confused. Did they do that? He was starting to feel a bit lostt. He shook his head. "Use the dry towel, uhm and there's a comb you can use. I don't own a brush for obvious reasons." He didn't have long locks.

He took a breath, turning to the door and looking back. "I'm going to meet father. I'll see you later....." he had forgotten about her coffee! He decided not to mention it as he slipped out the door and gently shut it.

Jamie laughed as his baffled words, watching him leave before walking into the bathroom to shower. She let the hot water wash away her stress and anxiety, enjoying being by herself properly and relishing the fact that in these few moments, she had freedom to do and be what she wanted.

Quin's father waited for him at the bottom of the stairs. The council meeting was to take place in the meeting room of the house - he had had it put in simply so that all powerful conversations took place in his household. "Good morning, son. I trust you slept well. The girl and I spoke last night. She seems clueless as to the current circumstances on her side of the city. It makes me think she barely knows her father at all."
(Everything okay?)

So much exhaustion.....°^°))

"Well then, what do you know about her father?" He was quite simply curious as to what his father knew. It was a mystery. He was about to see something rare too. Would his questions be answered then? He wasn't sure.

He was relieved however, that she only knew old news, and that she didn't blow up at his father. Or Quin would have had a very mute serva....friend. would he consider her a friend? Then a crush? He realised this wasn't the time for such things. "Shall you lead then father?"

"I know enough of him to know that he isn't trustworthy." Quin's father told him firmly. "The details are not yours to know. For all I know, son, you'll find yourself attracted to the girl and tell her everything that I tell you. But, I certainly hope that you have better sense than to indulge such naive fantasies." he laughed and walked into the meeting room with Quin behind him.

The meeting wasn't exciting - it was mostly administration and easy decisions. The council went along with whatever their leader suggested, except for occasional questions to clarify a detail, but they always agreed in the end. The meeting lasted all morning and into early afternoon, and when the room had emptied, Quin's father smiled at his son. "And that, my boy, is part of the day to day responsibility involved in this position."

Jamie walked into the room with another servant a few moments later, clearing up the mugs from the meeting. Quin's father looked at her, his eyes watching the way she walked - she had her shoulders slightly hunched over and her eyes directed downwards, the same way she looked when Quin had been chastising her. As the servant and Jamie left the room, Quin's father chuckled. "Good work, son. She's acting like a proper servant now."
(Do you have finals at school or something?)

((I have an online chem final and need to finish online history, and I also keep getting distracted @_@ summers only in a couple weeks though!))

Quin nodded, mulling over the idea that Jamie's father might be more dangerous then he thought. It made him slightly uncomfortable however seeing that his father didn't rrust him as much because of Jamie. Though it hurt even more because he was right. He was so right that it made him cringe. "Yes father, I understand your vantage point."

When they went through the meeting, Quin was slightly dissapointed. There wasn't anything for him to really cling to, to take interest in and ponder about excessively. Therefore he was feeling understimulated and bored. However he sat up tall through the h,whole thing. Wanting to reflect positively on his father's image.

When they finally finished, he was more half coherent then anything. He sighed and leaned on the wall before jolting up again when his father addressed him. He didn't really like what his father said, howevr he was also relieved that this meant that he wouldn't be at odds with Jamie later....

"Thank you father I appreciate your feedback." He attempted, still possiibly sounding a tad bit tired. "I have to get changed now and finish my rounds so if...you'll excuse me."

Quin realised that what he was planningto do was far more exciting than the meeting.

"You are excused." His father told him, leaving the meeting room and walking up the stairs to his study. He seemed happy, pleased that his son was beginning to show promise regarding leadership instead of wandering to and fro around the city with little to no aim. This new vigour he displayed was promising.

Jamie saw Quin walking back to his room and finished cleaning the window she was cleaning as he passed, excusing herself and rushing back to Quin's room. She looked at him curiously. "What happened? Was there anything interesting? What was the favour you wanted?" she took a breath. "Uh, sorry. I'll calm down."

((Alright! School is officiallyover andican pour .y heart into these.I apologise for the wait my dear.))

Quin had to suck up the fact that he was wavering with his father. There were just....too many things he had to know. Too many things he wasn't sure of because of Jamie. He didn't dislike that though. He didn't hate the new ideas that Jamie stirred up in his mind. He smiled softly and closed the door to his room before looking up.

"Hey Jamie, nothing happened much how are you?" He started casually, pulling out a bag and putting it on his bed before frowning to her. "Do any of these clothes look casual?" He motioned to his closet and grinned. "I wanted to talk about...something stupid." He held his breath before lookingJamie over. "I um...I want to go to your side. What do you think?"
