There comes a day when extraordinary things happen to the most ordinary person.

A day when that person might obtain new powers and abilities and go on an epic adventure to find the things and people they will soon hold dear. And to find and build a family they will fight for.

This is a story of that sort.

Dragons were killed off thousands of years ago by four great sorcerers; the land of Anevia was rid of their wrath.

What the guilds of the land didn’t know is that there was a group hidden away called the Tamers. Though the dragons in the land are few, there are still dragons.

They live, and the Tamers not only tame for protecting the land, but also so they can prove that the beasts are not at all what they are said to be.

This story starts in the large town of Anexial, home to the Phoenix Guild. And the home of a young girl, who had lived an ordinary life.

When the day comes that the Phoenix Guild’s sacred, jeweled egg that they’ve had for generations cracks, she takes it upon herself to take it and fix it in hopes of joining the guild as a reward, only for it to hatch into a dragon, one of the most feared creatures to ever exist.

Suddenly accused of being an evil witch that doomed them all by recreating a dragon, she takes it and runs away into an unknown world of adventure and magic she never knew possible, and it all began when a lost dragon was born.

Kemelia ran. She ran until she was out of breath, and still ran. She needed to get away, as far away as she could from her town! She briefly thought about dropping her bag to maybe go faster, but immediately decided not to since it was the only things she had. And also the fact that her pursuers could track her using a tracking spell. Eventually she slowed to a walk, before finally collapsing by a tree, completely covered in sweat and out of breath. She removed her bag from her back and undid the knot. Various items lay in the leather bag, food, money, but the one thing that had taken up the most space, and caused the most weight, was half a crystal purple and white egg, and a dragon curled inside the shell. It's bright amber-yellow eyes looked up at her like a baby would to its mother. Kemelia smiled. Despite the danger this little thing has put her in, she couldn't help admire the beautiful amethyst and white scales covering the tiny creature.

Then she frowned. She's in danger, and here she is smiling at the very thing that could get her killed! "What am I supposed to do with you?" She moaned.

And then she heard a fallen branch snap.

Adelia had been out hunting when she had heard running footsteps. Using her intuition, she had hidden behind the nearest tree. She contemplated climbing up it and discovering what was going on when she realised there were more following it. That cemented her decision, and she quickly scaled the tree. Jumping branch to branch, she kept up with the pursuers and realised they were chasing someone - a female. Nuh uh, not on my watch. She thought to herself, quickly thinking up a plan.

Upon hearing the girl stop moving, Adelia knew it was time for action. She listened intently, focusing on different sounds. She then latched onto the sound waves that the girl's panicked breathing and running footsteps had caused. Got it. Adelia had her desired frequencies, and set about putting her plan into motion. She quietly leaped from tree to tree in a direction leading away from the girl, mimicking the sounds from before. There had been no snowfall or rainfall to allow footprints to be left, which gave her an advantage. She amplified the sound waves she was creating, giving the impression of them being close, and then set them to be getting more distant.

Adelia smiled to herself, quietly returning to where she remembered the girl being. Climbing down from the tree, Adelia fell the last few feet and landed on a branch, snapping it. "Ouch." She groaned, picking herself up and dusting herself off. Looking at the girl before her, Adelia offered out her hand. "I'm Adelia Quinnby, and I think I just saved you from those brutes."

A moment later Kemelia shut her pack, hearing a muffled whine from the creature inside. She tried to stand up off the ground, only for her to realize that her legs were numb and drained of strength. All she could do was wait to be taken away. But then the voice of that same person spoke something she didn't expect. She looked up at a young girl with her hand held out and a smile. "You...you just saved me?" Kemelia asked. Then slowly realized that her pursers were no longer chasing her. "You just saved me?! Why-" She was going to ask why, but didn't bother. If this person, who said her name was Adelia, didn't know she was now an outlaw, Kemelia would have to explain it and that would surely get her in trouble, as she can't run nor fight. She tied her pack slowly, hoping the dragon inside wouldn't make a noise later. "Um, thanks. My name's Kemelia."

"Here, let me help you up." Adelia crouched down to lift the girl to her feet. She figured that the girl was an outlaw now, considering she was chased by what appeared to be some kind of law enforcement of the town. Perhaps honesty was the best route to go with her. Not at that moment though, the truth could wait. By this point, those who had pursued her would have realised that they had been tricked. They'd be on their way back in the direction that the 2 girls were. "We need to go, they'll be on their way back." She looked around for a shortcut to her home. They had to get out of there and fast. Adelia had found her path, and was ready to carry the girl there if necessary.

Kemelia couldn't believe it. Actually she could. Adelia probably doesn't know she's an outlaw, with a dragon. This dragon, even as a baby, could kill everything in sight. Or at least that's what she read.

And even if she did know, Kemelia couldn't move her throbbing legs enough to even take leisurely steps! There was no chance of running. She shook her head. She couldn't let an unsuspecting person get harmed because of her. "You should just go. I can't move. And if they find out you're the one that helped me, you'll get in trouble too!"

"I'll be in trouble if they find out who I am regardless." Adelia grinned, crouching down as though to pick her up. "Looks like I'm carrying you. Here, pass me the bag and I'll put it on. I'll be careful, I promise." She spoke as though she knew what was hidden in the bag. She didn't, but Adelia was careful with everything. Despite her instinct of self preservation, and everything she was taught as a tamer, Adelia still put other people first. She couldn't allow the girl to be caught. Who knows what they'll do to her. She thought to herself, solidifying her plan of taking the girl with her whether she liked it or not.

Take her bag?! No! She'd surely find out what Kemelia was hiding! She opened her mouth to say so, but instead she sighed. She saved her from guards. She probably knows sort of what she's getting into. And even if Kemelia did aurgue, Adelia would too. And they'd still both be caught. In defeat, she handed her bag to Adelia, sneaking in a whisper to stay silent to the dragon, and accepted her offer of being carried.

"It's pretty heavy, what do you have in here?" Adelia laughed lightly, putting the bag on before picking up the girl and holding her in her arms. She took off at a run, taking care to mute the sound waves given off by her footsteps. This way they'd never track their location. It dawned on her that the girl would be baffled by the lack of sound coming from her running, and decided she should probably explain. I should also explain who I am... But that can wait till we get home. That was it. She would tell the girl, once they were both safe. "There's no sound from my footsteps because... Well, I can control different frequencies of sound. So, to stop us from being caught I muted the frequencies given off from my footsteps." Adelia felt a sense of pride in being so useful in helping this girl to escape. She hadn't stopped to think about why this girl was an outlaw, and so was set on finding out later.

Kemelia continued to look back behind them in case more guards came looking. But there was none. She felt relieved, but only for a moment. Silence her footsteps?! Is that a type of magic? Probably. Most magic isn't always released to the public, and those who know about those magics are part of a guild or they know that sorcerer. She decided not to ask questions right this moment. She was too stunned to say anything anyway and just focused on not falling.

Adelia could see the confusion written on Kemelia's face. She could also see the questions whizzing through her mind. "I'll explain soon. We're nearly there." Adelia pointed over the ridge, showing the small makeshift house that stood there. Slowing herself from running, she continued to carry the girl the remaining distance. Adelia opened the door with one hand, nudging it open with her foot. Once inside, she set the girl down on a small couch.

"I know, I know... It's not much." Adelia spoke, removing the bag from her back and passing it to the girl. She then walked over to the kitchen area and began looking in the cupboards. "Would you like anything to eat or drink? We'll get your legs looked at when everyone returns."

"Uh...maybe some water?" Kemelia replied. It sounded more like a question, but she was just looking around at her new surroundings. It was simple and cute. She smiled a little and opened her bag a little while Adelia was in the other room. The dragon seemed to listen and stayed silent.

"Um, when everyone returns?" She asked, closing the bag.

"Well, they won't come back to this house, this is my own. But they'll return to our usual meeting and training spot." Adelia informed her, taking a cup down from one of the cupboards and filling it with water. She then walked back into the other room, sitting on a chair and passing it to her. "I'm a Tamer, you see." Se smiled towards Kemelia, folding her legs onto her chair. "My elder knows some healing magic, I'm not sure how powerful he is, but he'll be able to help you. They return this afternoon from their hunt." Adelia felt useful, having rescued a helpless person from those ruddy guild members and law enforcement. "I'm sure you have many questions, so fire away." She grinned.

Tamer. Adelia said that as if Kemelia was supposed to know what that was. She drank the water she was handed before asking. "What on earth in a 'Tamer'?"

She was more calmed by now, which is good. If shge panicked, things might go wrong. Like what happened earlier that day.

"I tame dragons." Adelia shrugged, as though it was no big deal. She knew otherwise. Being a tamer was dangerous. If anyone reported seeing one of them training a dragon, they were doomed. Taming was a dangerous lifestyle, but to her it was worth it. She wouldn't change it for the world. "Dragons are so sweet really. You just gotta know how to talk to them and approach them."

Kemelia didn't know how to respond to that. Taming dragons. "But I thought dragons were extinct!" She said. She hugged her bag a little tighter. "That's crazy! Dragons were vicious! They only killed before the sorcerers banished them from this world!"

"They killed because we tried to kill them. Believe me, they're sweethearts." Adelia was a little hurt that people, even young people like herself, could be so blinded. She waited for more questions from Kemelia, knowing that she likely had multiple running through her mind "As for what I did with the muffling thing earlier, I have this power called Sonokinesis. What that means is I can mess around with different sound frequencies and recreate them."

"So that's how you saved me..."

She looked down at her bag, thinking, when another question came to mind. "I'm ban outlaw. Why'd you save me?"

"I'm not exactly in their good books either, being who I am." Adelia shrugged once more, a smile back on her face. "Besides, we can teach you to be a tamer. If you want, that is." She got up again, walking over to the cupboard to grab a small cake. She was hungry, especially after running while carrying someone. She wasn't about to do that again any time soon.

"T-Teach me how to be a T-Tamer?!" Kemelia asked, almost shouted. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. She could buy the whole Tamer thing and the fact it wasn't in any books. What would the people say when the government hid something like that? But teaching her how to be one? That's insane! She's only human! "No way! I'm already in because of a stupid dragon!" As she spoke, she ended squeezing harder on her bag and a little whine escaped from the creature inside.

She froze. She let it make a sound. She stayed silent, hoping Adelia wouldn't notice.

Adelia's ears perked up to the whining coming from the bag. She didn't mention it, but she knew. "You're in trouble because of a dragon? How so? Where's the dragon?" All of a sudden, Adelia had many questions of her own. She had to find the dragon before they found a sorcerer to slay it. She couldn't let that happen, especially not with the other tamer's out, probably taming some new dragon.

"Ummmm...." Kemelia said. She didn't want to answer this. "D-Did I say dragon? N-No.....I-I said.....wagon?" "That so dumb." She thought and internally cringed. She kept a forced smile and held her bag to her stomach. "I-I just got in trouble with the guards is all. No dragon!" This is getting worse. She needed to stop talking. Or leave. Yeah, she needed to leave.

"Anyway, thanks for the water. I should really get going now." She tried to stand up off the couch, but her legs felt like led. She stumbled before falling back onto the couch, the dragon in her bag let out another whine.

"I know you have one with you, it's okay. You don't need to pretend. I help dragons, remember." Adelia looked at Kemelia, curious as to why the girl would lie. Without properly knowing how to tame a dragon, the girl would struggle. Unless... No, she wouldn't... Would she? Adelia didn't want to believe that there was a chance Kemelia would leave the dragon or take it to a sorcerer. "Don't try and move, you'll hurt yourself. The fellow tamers will be back shortly. I'll take you to them when they return." She was waiting for the signal, which came in the form of a strong gust of wind. Only then would Adelia head over to where they met. "Can I see it? The dragon that is."

Kemelia played the the straps nervously as she thought. She didn't really know what to do with the dragon if she kept it anyway. She'd get killed turning it in, and if sh just straight up abandoned it it's probably row up to cause chaos. So she sighed and gave in, handing the bag over to Adelia. Maybe once she rested she could leave the dragon here. If they really tamed dragons, then nothing bad will happen to innocent people. "Yeah, sounds like a better plan."

Adelia opened the bag straps slowly.  Smiling at the newly hatched dragon, she carefully lifted it out. "Aww! He's adorable!" She set the dragon down on the table. "Any other questions for me before we head out?" The wind had picked up, sending a flurry of leaves through the house. A couple of leaves littered the floor, and she made a note to clear them later. The elders would be waiting, and she had to show them the dragon.

Kemelia watched the leaves as they settled on the floor. Obviously there was no way out of this. She was coming with no matter what. "Will I be in trouble?" She asked.
