Fandom A Game Called Life (Accepting)

The night's air proved chilling, especially with the winds picking up as distance was made. The air whipped at her with every bound the creature made, her hands barely sheltered by the spine-like scales which she clung to. Luckily, upon the middle it's back the scales proved smoother than the rest, so at least the ride wasn't completely unforgiving. But still, this cold air only proved to make her eyelids feel heavier, the truth of time actually sinking in within this steady tempo of movement. Before rest could find it's way, the beast slowed, somewhat forcing Ashelynn to regain awareness. More so, it slowed even further when the other creature could be heard at it's side. Out here she was at a disadvantage, so it could very well be that Alex spotted a source of potential hazard. However, what greeted her was the topic of speculation. She expected the topic of blindness to come up eventually, seeing as it was a subject of burden in practically any situation.

"I am." She responded lightly, seeing no reason to delve into excuses. After all, it was not as if she was attempting to lead Alex to believe otherwise. Nor was there a reason for her to feel regret or guilt over some handicap, as it would do nothing to change her situation. However, her senses quickly clung to the idle weight upon her hip, checking for it's continued presence whilst her arms were still being used to maintain stature upon the creature. The imagery of the red haired girl glaring at her flashed throughout her mind for a short moment. Besides, there was further potential within this world, if there was an ability that allowed someone to appear with such clarity before the blind, then there was something further she could do. "Though you should not inconvenience yourself with such knowledge." Her words held no strain, almost as if the topic held little interest.

"We should perhaps find an encampment before too long. Whether or not we have to remove a few inhabitants before doing so. " She introduced the topic that proved a more immediate need. Blind or not, it was simply recklessness to move too far within the night. "If we chance upon a creature camp, it would be advisable to seek shelter within it. Unless of course, you happen to be experienced in crafts and camping."

"I'm going to go back to the den, take as much time as you need before you rejoin us if you need to," Orlando stated. He himself was finished talking and musing about Kala's situation, so he decided to go talk to Joshua and Roku about what to do next. Upon walking over to the Den, he noticed Joshua and Kala conversing with each other about something. Orlando decided that he would ask to join instead of butting in. He walked over to the two of them and spoke, "is there room for a third and possibly 4th member for conversation?"

Alexander hums in response, eyes still forward. No matter what Ashelynn said this information would influence his decisions. He couldn't leave her alone now, not until he found a way for her to function like she did before. This was a vast world after all, and magic could do a great many things. Plus, it wasn't like she was a bad companion. Though he may be one. That brought a bout of bitter chuckles from him as a feeling of unknown nostalgia fell upon him. Suddenly snapping out of it as he processed the rest of what Ashelynn was saying he took a moment to respond. "I... I'm pretty sure I know how to set up a camp. I'd go hunt for us too, but I... Don't think this area has anything that I'd be able to track and kill fast enough." Taking a look around, he noted an area that seemed perfect for a camp spot. A fairly open clearing, rocks to make a pit, wood. It would work quite well if he was honest. Urging his mount forward, he took a closer look at the clearing as he entered. There didn't seem to be any signs of animals living here, nor any signs that they were in any monster's territory. Stepping off of his mount, he watched it walk off to the shade of a tree and curl up, simply laying there curious. Shaking his head he turned to Ashelynn once again. "I think I found us a good place to spend the night. We'll have to go without food til morning unless you have something on you to eat. If you don't, I'll try and find you some berries or nuts to sate your hunger till sunrise, at which point I'll hunt you something. Now, don't be alarmed with what I'm about to do." Stepping forward he reached up and gradually lifted her off of her mount, taking great care of keeping her away from the protrustions, and gently placed her on the ground. Stepping back he addressed her, "I'm sorry if I've invaded your personal space or if I stepped out of line with that. I just wanted to ensure you were able to get off your mount safely. Feel free to find a spot you'd like to sleep, and if you need any help at all just tell me. And I mean it, I don't care how trivial it may seem, if you need help, just say something." With that said, he began to walk around the clearing, gathering rocks and twigs in his arms to make a fire for the night, though always keeping Ashelynn within his line of sight.

Gleamfang's Den

Deren lay on the ground at the entrance of Gleamfang's Den, panting wildly. He hoped to fall unconscious soon, he didn't know if he was hyperventilating. There was a monotonous throbbing ache that had weaved it's way throughout his entire body, it was inescapable. He wanted to relax, his eyes resembled those of a wolf in danger, alert. He just continued panting as he felt oxygen poisoning slowly take him, a light smile appeared at the edge of his lip.

Roku had been deeply involved in conversation with the two Heroes whom had had chosen to save the majority of them. She seemed back to her original self as she spoke to them though she contributed little to any conversation that involved their past. As the minutes ticked by a cold chill filled the Den and another portal this time of dark purple energy opened up and through it walked in another batch of Adventuerers alongside another Heroine.

The Heroine did not stay long as she glanced at Roku and the other two Heroes for a brief moment. The Heroine noticed the Adventuerer whom appeared to be struggling with catching his breath. Without speaking a word, magical incantations floated around Her body and with a flick of her her wrist, the top of the cave simply vanished revealing the starry nights sky and giving more air to those assembled.

The armored clad Male raised a tankard to her as she opened up another portal and disappeared again. "It seems like we've got about thirty people so far, hopefully there's more survivors..." The armored male spoke in a depressed sounding voice.

Roku lightly held onto his shoulder,
"Don't be so sad Ghost, I'm certain that others will survive they are stronger than you guys believe." Roku said this with a broad grin and turned away to locate her other friends as the two males, Ghost and Sun Zhao proceeded to look over the Adventuerers to ensure that they were all properly okay.

Roku moved beside Orlando, Kala and Joshua smiling warmly at them.
"I hope I can still be with you guys, I don't want to lose you three as my party friends too." Roku said this with a small amount of fear lingering in her voice, as she knew that she hadn't interacted with the three much recently.

Roku tensed her hands together before smiling at them,
"So I figured something out if you guys want to know what I discovered," Roku said while playing with her hands clearly a bit nervous in revealing the information she discovered. Her lone eye began to scan the room and followed where Sun Zhao and Ghost were carefully to ensure the conversation wouldn't be overheard if she did tell them.

@Gilgog

For a long time, Kala seemed to stay where Orlando and her had spoken, her eyes just searching the infinite cosmos as if it had the answers to everything. After a little bit longer, Kala returned to the cave. Her mind was in a whirl with what was t happen and how things might be now. Of course Kala never minded being the one who was dealt heavy punishment, she figured she might as she didn't think anyone else killed anybody back within the city; if they did then surely they'd all share the punishment. Out of her friends, she was likely the only one who killed, but she put that out of her mind as she approached the little group before Roku spoke. "Oh? What is it Roku?" She asked the girl. Ever since after the fight with Rok..the girl had been very..distant; Kala hoped that she'd at least explain this, or tell them something.

@Gilgog

Orlando turned to speak to Roku, "Yes, I believe it would be in our best interest to group up as we've worked together before in killing Gleamfang. We already have Kala and Joshua in the party together." When Roku had mentioned something about what she had discovered Orlando was clearly interested. "Well Roku, what did you discover?"

Deren's metronomic breathing gradually slowed down, to his great dismay. He watched as the cave above him swelled as it dissipated, now seemingly a tenderly lit night sky, with nebulae and stars alike. He grimaced slightly with his ache, and the discomforting feeling in his organs. The air now seemed less stale, it felt fresh, as if from the surface of this land, not in a cave. Deren gave a hushed groan, before speaking, with regular intervals in the middle of words to breath. "Hi....i'..m" He panted some more "Der....en" He then relaxed again, continuing to try and lower his breathing rate. His hands were no longer grasping the ground, his entire body was now lifeless. He shifted his right arm to his side, comforting himself of the paranoia that he might have lost his precious rapier. His armament wasn't particularly special, however, it was enough to stab someone, or something; Deren had yet to build up enough estate to afford a both ornate and effective rapier, he had to have his priorities straight.

The beast pulled, a change in direction somewhat off balancing Ashelynn's frame until corrections were made. She would simply have to assume that Alex found a suitable place. Within moments she could heard a moment of silence, before a lighter pair of feet met the ground and begun it's approach. The concept of food brought a light growl to her stomach, one that she would blatantly ignore. By this point she was used to going without food for days, but that was perhaps due to her energy consumption being set to a minimal whilst within the library. But, it was the second concept that proved slow to reach her. With another's touch upon her, her glare was near instant, refusing to release the individual until her feet met the ground.

Ashelynn stood her ground, looking off into the nothingness as Alex's steps carried him away. It would appear as though the adventurer took no mind to heed her words. She expected minor acts of transgression, however none as instantaneous nor unbecoming. Though, she could see little value in scorning another for simply acting upon kindness. Perhaps it should have been expected for him to neglect her role within this life. Without word of response, she immediately sat upon the ground, taking a moment to fixate her cloak into a comfortable position before laying upon the ground, tucking into a ball within the over-sized cloth. It might not have been entirely practical, but it at least partially sheltered her from the lower temperature that she would otherwise be exposed to.

"Must be nice having a guard dog." The voice rang, though quite muffled, bringing a light vibration to Ashelynn's hip. Reaching for the source, she grasped the shell that was received alongside the whistle. Holding it before her, still within the confines of the cloak, she attempted to examine it with touch alone. The voice was one she could recognize easily, but how it was being generated was questionable. "So, where are you going?" The voice inquired, bringing Ashelynn to actually attempt to look outside of her cloak with blind eyes. However, only nothingness greeted her. Seeing as they noted Alex continued accompaniment, she would have to assume the female was following them, but remaining completely out of sight. Her hesitation was minor, seeing as this individual would probably be able to find them no matter the methods they used. And so, she spoke on a level that was comparable to silence, desiring to avoid further alterations with the fellow adventurer. "Southwest.. " The air proved quiet beyond this, whether or not her voice was heard by the girl was questionable. However, no further inquiries were made, so perhaps that is all that was needed.

@Exanis

Alexander took his time in gathering the sticks and stones, assuming that Ashelynn was not quite in the mood with dealing with him at the moment. However, his need to fill the silence eventually won out and he began to hum a little tune to himself. Unwillingly his mind began to wander again. What was he to do now? Truth be told, he did want to explore, and this was a chance to do as such. Sure, he had his ambition of uniting the adventurers, but that was for the good of all. If he was to be brutally honest with himself, he just wanted to see the world. He had qualms with a world at war. It simply meant that he had more people to fight. Setting up the pit near Ashelynn, he placed the sticks down and, with a quick incantation under his breath, started the fire. Stepping back, he continued around the clearing, lost in thought, his body simply moving on auto pilot. As his mind drifted from one thing to another he had somehow managed to forage some berries from a bush that was hidden within the shade of some trees. It wasn't much, but it was something to satisfy hunger for the moment. Finally snapping out of his haze, he noticed that he was standing in front of the curled up form of Ashelynn. Crouching down, he held out the berries towards her. "Here. I found some berries."

Laying somewhere deep inside the cavern laid Renig who seemed to be muttering something. "What always runs, never walks, often murmurs, never talks, and has a bed....Oh and also it has a bed but it never sleeps and has a mouth but never eats." ("How are we suppose to know that?") Renig scratches his head as he stares up at the sky up ahead of a large crack. "Well it wouldn't be a good riddle if you don't think." ("Is it a dead rabbit? I'm right aren't I of course I am.") ("Not even close you idiot, you call yourself a conscious?") Renig continues to listen to the few voices in his head argue when suddenly he picks something up with his ears. He slowly gets up and pats off the dirt and such on his suit. He stands for a few minutes and hears a faint sound coming within the cavern closer to the entrance area. He pulls out his gloves and puts them on, testing them as he snaps his fingers. He begins to walk and slowly hears the voices a bit clearer. ("I'm telling you its not a mattress, why the hell would it be a mattress?!") ("Because......I said") Renig lifts his top hat and knocks the top of his head indicating them to keep it down. He spots several people and decides to just sit back and listen. The only thing that could be seen clearly of renig was his mask with a large smile on its face.

Roku hesitantly played with her hands nervously, she took a deep breath before speaking in a quiet tone. "So you remember the speaker right? The guy who was leading the hooded people at that village?" Roku looked at each of them waiting for them to recall the person. "Well, I discovered that the Speaker isn't one of the heroes of old, even though there was thirteen hero's and thirteen hooded people, the speaker isn't one at least according to Sun Zhao." Roku said this with a faint smile but, remained speaking as quiet as possible. "I also learned that we are likely being used as puppets for someone though its not just us but, the speaker and the heroes too. Someone or something is pulling the strings of the tapestry of the world we are residing in." Roku finished her explanation and looked at her party members with a faint smile hoping that they understood everything.

@Clockwork Syringe @revior @xEmoBunnehx

"I find that interesting because yesterday after we battled with our respective heroes, myself, Kala, and Joshua all came to that conclusion afterwords," Orlando explained. "It would make sense that there is an unseen puppeteer that is pushing a conflict to a head in the future." He also had a mental train of thought going while he spoke. ~Perhaps if the hooded man was not one of the heroes then…~ It dawned on Orlando like the morning sun would as it would break the night. ~Kala might share my thoughts, but I've already spoken to her about this enough, I think I better leave her alone for now, she's been though enough.~ He then spoke again to Roku, "However, this new development about the puppeteer also worries me, if the hooded figures and the puppeteer are not on the same side, what is going on? Is there some sort of, I don't know a cosmic or higher entity that wants us to fight?"

@Gilgog @general ostruppen

((by the way, not sure if Im reading this correctly or not, but I can guess where you're taking the inspiration from for this development. Not going to say though.))

Kala nodded in agreements with Orlando. "We did indeed." She said directly avoiding mentioning anything about the possibility of Cain running such a thing. Though even just thinking about him..and the fact he could be here made her shiver and gain more of an alertness as well as unknowingly cover up the giant scar. Please.. whatever is out there.. Don't let Cain be the one messing with us. Please. If he is..give me some sign or something. She wished, becoming more uncomfortable as she thought more about this idea. Could he really be the one is the robes? And what about the others? Are they from her past too? No..that can't be possible. Not at all. They didn't look the same. Their robes were only black.. the ones in Kala's past had blood red embroidered patters of runes on them so surely if it was Cain..he'd want to be exact..right?

@Gilgog @general ostruppen

"So? Who is this 'Speaker' and where is he?"

Joshua had taken his time to digest the information given by the eye-patched girl. And as he crunches down each word, grinding them on his teeth, he find irritation in the fact that the flippant looking Sun Zhao didn't tell more than he could have. Did he not know any more, or is he simply being cryptic? What are the purposes of this manipulation by the Pupetteer, and what are the Heroes' standing on all of this? Do they agree, or do they oppose? Is keeping the Adventurers here a gesture of kindness, or something much more? Too many questions, far too many. But one man may have the answer, and seeing that isn't one of the Heroes of old, he may be easier to be made to talk than the rest.

"Did this Sun Zhao of yours say anything about it, or is he one of those guys who like to be cryptic?"

Irritation are shown in his tone and sternness on his expression, Joshua's usual aloofness is nowhere to be found. Attacked by Denizens, hiding out in a cave with people that may or may not be their enemies, being brought into this world without memories, he has had quite enough of all these shenanigans.

Deren grumbled lightly, he'd just been ignored. He normally liked company, but here and now, not so much. With a lot of effort Deren managed to get himself into a sitting position in the cavern, supporting himself with his arms on the floor. Remaining silent, he listened to what these people had to say about the heroes, and... 'the speaker', he'd no idea who that was. Soon, Deren noticed a mask, a white mask with black features facing their direction, he looked at it and frowned. His curiosity got him off of his feet. With his left hand on his cold smooth rapier hilt, he treaded towards the mask, constantly alert. Once a few meters away, he opened his mouth "hello?"

Taking a nap after realizing that none of them were paying attention. Renig slowly dozed off and had a simple dark dream of nothing. Only except the voices who still argue about the damn riddle he made up, yet it was otherwise peaceful. Suddenly he felt a presence slowly closing onto him and he slowly opened his eyes to see someone approaching him. He looks a the young man and puts out a hand and shoo's him away, "Go away your not interrupting my nap." ("who the hell is this kid?")("Who cares we aren't done with our mattress discussion!"). Renig then closes his eyes and suddenly starts to snore really freakin loudly.

Roku nodded her head slightly but quickly let out a small sigh, "He said that the person was someone I knew really well but, I barely remember all of the heroes myself. So I have no idea what He means." Roku turned away from them and looked up at the night sky. Her eyes glossing over with a grey sheen. A few moments later another portal opened containing a procession of Adventuerers. The Heroine whom had previously appeared did so again with her arms folded. The den area now contained close to one hundred Adventuerers as some returned of their own ability.

Roku shook her head looking around as the Heroine mage pushed her hands upward expanding the area of the Den area. She then raised her hands upwards as the stones melded to form a small stage.

The Heroine stepped onto the stage and ripped open another portal just as a black robed person stepped out of it. The person scanned the area in silence as the Heroes began to get people to focus upon the speaker. The Heroine stood beside him quietly as did Sun Zhao and Ghost.
"Welcome Survivors, I am pleased that you still live. However staying within the highlands is no longer a possibility for you. As such in my overwhelming kindness I am offering you refuge in the area known as the deathgrin mountains."

He said that in a loud voice drawing attention to all whom assembled. Roku seemed focused upon the voice of the speaker, her eyes closed as she attempted to figure out if she had ever heard him before. "You are free to go there or not however, it should be mentioned that word has spread of your actions far and wide and that many will be distrustful of You." Roku began to shiver slightly as she felt a cold chill come upon the Den area. "Also a word of warning. Many have died this evening however, those you believe are dead will still be alive, just not as whole as you may remember them." The Heroine then opened up another portal and the speaker stepped through it, he was quickly followed by the three heroes and the portal shut behind them as the stage reset it self back to normal.

Roku looked around at everyone assembled as conversations quickly arose between many of the Adventuerers clearly forming groups for travel. Roku bit her lip hard thinking about the final words the speaker had said before turning to her friends.
"Where should we go? I trust you guys more than I do them at this point so I'm willing to follow you guys where ever we may end up."

@Gilgog

"If we were to think realistically, we can't just hide in the mountains and hope this all blows over without our involvement," Orlando began. "That being said, I would like to head north where we have more anonymity and word does not spread as fast; at least that's how I feel. We could theoretically also improve our own image in the eyes of the denizens. What we as a whole did not reflect well on the adventurers, but maybe we as a group could fix the image." Orlando's hand rested on the bottom of his katana hilt, "However, lets hear what everyone else has to say before we figure out what we do next."

@Gilgog @general ostruppen

Kala listened to what was said before crossing her arms and adding in her input. "The mountains actually don't all that bad. We have Rok there, who surely would allow us to stay there for a bit; however, we don't exactly know where he is located." She let out a soft sigh. "As for traveling else where..well I'd like to think that word doesn't travel fast, but it actualities it does and sometimes lies get in with the mix. I say we either train with Rok the best we can, or try and earn what we can as temporary mercenaries, maybe even hide who are as we go along. Just to get word and fight the rumors." Kala suggested. Neither was really the best solution.. but it;s all she could come up with on the fly. Now her, herself, she'd been a mercenary before. The labor was hard, and not always virtuous but it was an option nonetheless.

@Gilgog

"I see..."

In the end, there were hardly any answer, but since the eye-patched girl said that she knew him well, then perhaps in time, she'll remember. The question is, whether if it'll be too late when that happens.

More Adventurers eventually arrived at the Den, either by portal or by their own strength. And once a good number have gathered, stones began rising up to for some sort of stage. Joshua thought that it was far too elaborate at a time like this. Is there really a need for a stage? Joshua did not like where this is going.

From a portal made by the Heroine, a cloaked man showed up. One could probably not tell who he is by appearance, but this is all far too familiar for Joshua to not know.

"I was hoping I'd never have to see him again."

The cloaked man, the Speaker, spoke pretentious and patronizing words just as before, something that irritates Joshua back then, but now more so than ever.

"Overwhelming kindness my foot."

As a rule of thumb, any man who claims they have overwhelming kindness is mostly certain to have none, not to mention Joshua himself have experienced what this kindness meant. If it weren't for the heroes standing around him, Joshua would probably be tempted to put an arrow in between his eyes.

Irritated as he already is, the mention of the dead only pushed him further. The information, for once so generously and so clearly provided aside, Joshua is reminded of the lost of the temple. Now, even one death would be absolute, preceded by probably torture anyway. They'll have to take that back eventually, or they'll lose their one real advantage as Adventurers. But with the numbers they have now, is that possible? Not to mention that there is no way to increase their numbers, there are probably no more Adventurer's to recruit, and the Denizens would never help them as it is. But they can't just stay around and do nothing either.

Joshua listens to both Orlando and Kala, their answers contrast each other's. The eyepatched girl say she'll follow them wherever they choose to go, but at this rate, this seems like it will go nowhere. Joshua had the deciding vote it seems.

"Kala, Rok may seem like a nice guy now, but what do we really know about him? And remember, we had to fight him before, it was good that we survived and all, but he kill a good number of us as well. If we weren't as strong as we were, he would probably have killed us all. And Boss, I understand that you want to improve our reputation, and I too think that may be our best chance when it comes to the future, but there is only so much a small group can do and information can easily be twisted. And when it comes down to protecting ourselves, I think both Kala and even myself might do some pretty horrible things along the way. No offence by the way, Kala. But there is one thing I completely agree with you, Boss. Truth to be told, I don't like these people, considering what had happened last time, I would like to get as far away from them as possible..."

Joshua stopped for a moment and took a breath.

"But I say we head for the mountains. I'm sick and tired of being lead about by my nose without knowing what's going on. I want answers and I doubt we'll getting it by running away. I know that I won't necessary get the answers by going, but I like to think that it's better than running about blindly. What about you guys, do you fell the same?"

The last question wasn't just to his own party, but to all Adventurers who can hear him.

Having said what he had wanted to say, Joshua lose some strength in his shoulders, his face pops a smile like the foolish boy he is.

"Anyway, it's not like we can't leave ever again if we went there, and in the worst case scenario, we caould just run like hell. There's about a hundred of us, there's no way they could catch us all."

But even as he says so, like all decisions involving a heck of a risk, Joshua had doubt in his mind. He took a look at the faces of his companions before calming it down and places them at the back of his head... for now.

"Yeah I see now that perhaps your idea may have some merit when I think about it Kala. After all, Rok may have a grasp on what's going on, and even if he has minimal knowledge, we may be able to train with him. And Joshua, we can run if we need to, but if thats the case I guess we can hold off on going to the north a bit more. For now, lets go to the mountains and ask Rok what is going on.

@Gilgog

The groups of Adventuerers were mixed on how to proceed, some left as soon as possible while others remained to plot out a plan. More of them however needed to rest after being startled awake by the nights events. Upon the following morning Roku stood beside her friends whom had also rested. She took a quick glance at their two new companions, a masked swordsman and another Adventuerer. She pointed towards a south eastern direction, "It's in that direction," Roku nodded her head as of confirming this to herself. She turned to look at her friends and smiled warmly. "It's a big place the mountains and I don't know where Rok may be at, I hope we'll find him though." with this stated she turned and blew her whistle summoning her mount Icey the Ice Wolf and sat upon it's back before waiting for the others to do the same.

(Sorry for kind of using all your characters and making them rest and join up with the group I figured it would be simpler to accomplish if it was all glossed over >~< I apologize still though)

((First time using my whistle but I was thinking a Lion for my mount. Sorry if I haven't fleshed out the idea, school is REALLY eating into my free time.))

Orlando nodded and noticed the two other adventurers, both wielding swords and one with a mask as if he was hiding something. ~Don't we all have something to hide,~ Orlando noted to himself. He saw that Roku had summoned a frost wolf with the whistle Sun had probably given her and the whistle looked remarkably similar to his own. Deciding to entrust fate with the correct choice, he blew his whistle. What was summoned afterwords was a lion with a small mane and decently sized teeth. When Orlando approached it, it bowed its' head as if to signify that it understood that Orlando was the summoner in this case. He petted the lion on its' forehead and climbed on it's back and waited for everyone else to proceed.
