Fandom A Game Called Life (Accepting)

(I was going to revise it a bit, but with the busy day my time was cut short, and now I am tired. Good night everyone!

As well, meet my favorite little addition to the ranks.)

The sliding of a book, it's cover meeting the shelf as it slid into place, a light knock silencing the lasting sound as it met it's place resting upon the back of the case. Ashelynn's past number of hours have been spent idly doing this, returning all books to their cases. How would one that was blind know which book she was even holding? The parting gift from Serena was proving most beneficial, as lettering was becoming vastly present within the nothingness that was her vision. Within such a place, overflowing with written knowledge it was as if sight was gradually returning in an altered form within her vicinity. As such, she was capable of accomplishing such minor feats. With the keeper of these books gone, it was up to those who remained to take care of such a structure, a mindset that Ashelynn gladly accepted.

Last night she took shelter in that room, just like before. However, she could not recall ever falling asleep, as most of her time within there was dedicated to reading that which was left behind for her. Serena's gift proved to thoroughly absorb Ashelynn, bringing her to read it over so many times, that perhaps she even dreamed of reading it. After all, beyond the ability it bestowed, this was the journal of a unique Denizen, one that seemingly cared for her upon arrival. Perhaps the idea of Ashelynn caring due to personal reasoning was foreign, however, lingering thoughts proved to force her into this oddity.

"So Ash, what would you like to do today?" The voice repeated within her mind, refusing to release this unknown data that previously brought a pain which matched her death in intensity. Around the time of it's initial intrusion, there were additional screams within the town, so it could be said that she was not alone with these pains at least. "I should have known! Alright, what should we read today then?" It was relentless with these assaults, so much that Ashe would at times attempt to cover her ears on route to storing the books. They were little more than frivolous assaults, but her minds refusal to liberate her from these reoccurring thoughts proved more problematic. Each time these attacks repeated, it was like they grew in intensity, ripping at something within her. "Ahk!" At least this sound of discomfort brought an equal amount of relief, as she could not help but enjoy the colorful retort. "Always the hard ones.... I suppose it can't be helped, can it?" Why was it that this voice haunted her.

It was within this hour that absolute silence met the town, a dark aura taking place so thick that even Ashelynn could take note. Aparches proved to enter a time of unrest, though in silence, she could tell commotion was rising. "Hey there, 'see none, hear all'." The voice rang clear behind her, it's abruptness easily startling her frame, partially due to the fact that her mind was weakened due to the siege upon it. However, all came to a halt as she caught on to the owner of the voice. "I was wondering where you were holding up." Sun made his approach, forcefully grabbing her arm to force her hand outwards, lightly placing a pair of items within her grasp before releasing the limb. "Might want to go ahead and blow that little whistle, and cling on for dear life. Because I don't really see you making it out of here otherwise."

"Sun!" Her voice finally erupted, though perhaps to late. His presence already faded from the library, and she was once more left alone. She was caught in the confusion, and rendered incapable of addressing the individual she desired, the taste of this defeat was sour. If it were not for these haunting messages she would be on par and ready. However, at least he brought a mild warning that this was not a situation that she could linger around for. With items in hand, she retracted once more to her cloak, sheltering her arms from further manipulation by another. Within moments she could hear the murmurs of a mass, as well a few shouts from Denizens as they called back and forth. From her perspective, it would sound as if the town was being emptied of Adventurers. With Sun's show of warning, perhaps by sheer aggression .

The clicking of tongue resounded throughout the library. An individual making their presence known upon the edges of the balcony from the second floor. "He's such an idiot," the female carried a tone of both, annoyance and sympathy, within her words. "A bastard if nothing else, really." Without a sound hinting towards movement, the voice cut the air directly beside Ashelynn, perhaps even facing the doors just like her. Not even a distortion, a mild tinge of fear actually came to her spine. For the thought of an individual bearing a comparable speed to that of Sun, but also hold such aggression within her voice. "And despite that 'playful' nature of his, he is just your typical sadist." Her words carried a weight of warning, but for some reason it felt as if they were equally unjustified, as if they were merely her interpretation. Perhaps this was due to Ashelynn's admiration upon the figure known as Sun, but she held no will to counter this speaker.

The female in question was shorter than Ashelynn herself, perhaps even younger but only by a few years. At least she knew that this individual did not come to cause harm, well, at least not to her. "I assume you two are well acquainted." She spoke confidently, refusing the presence of this individual to fluster her further. "Though I must inquire on your presence here, seeing as you waited for Sun's clear departure before announcing yourself." However, in response, a contemptuous burst of air escaped the girl's lips. As if wanting to laugh at just how annoying it would be to answer, or perhaps the thought of answering itself was too tedious to bother. Seeking to avoid confrontation, Ashelynn withdrew herself further, listening to the slow steps the individual took around her. Another audible click rang from the inspectors tongue

"Ashelynn," The mention of name forced her arms to tuck together, as this unexpected development took yet another drastic turn. A moment of silence passed, the nothingness remaining unchanged within her eyes. However, after it's passing the girl only grew in aggravation, an audible stomp ringing within Ashe's ears as the female's foot met the ground. It was obvious that even their strengths were on a different ground. "You damnable tool, don't make me do all the work!" The female's state of tone became almost feral, proving that this individual was one of temperamental nature. However, it was what came thereafter that brought this situation to complete disarray. A solid clap could be heard, the individual now before her grasping her hands in haste. For thee who are gifted, I doth pertain, a raiment of translucence! Transcribe!"

An ironically blinding light filled her vision, a light that could only be seen by Ashelynn. A golden ring appeared before her hazed eyes as it slowly enveloped the individual before her. A visible hand was extended towards her, perhaps in a way that demanded her to take it. With hesitance, the ring enveloped more, a ruby glare was made known. Not before long the entirety of the girl stood before her. Crimson hair draping upon slender shoulders, highlighting the red-ish orange hue that was her eyes, creating a fiery contrast much like her apparent personality. Despite her nasty glare, Ashelynn actually felt warmth within this sight. Though all else remained nothingness, she could see this individual with utmost clarity. "Now take my hand, a-" Her voice was cut short by that of another, a male that Ashelynn could recognize. But, before anything could be done, the female instantly disappeared from her vision. With mild longing, she reached out towards the nothingness, feeling nothing.

For the next few moments, Ashelynn remained silent, attempting to organize her thoughts. In conclusion, she could only relate this individual to Serena, and Sun. Serena, because no other should have known about the gift, and Sun due to her previous statements. And with this thought met, she finally chose to call out to the individual who made his presence known. "Alex?" She questioned, wondering if what she heard was true. "I am indeed still within the Library." She called out in response, as if her questioning the name was not enough notification. "Though I regret to inform you, escape is something of an impossibility for me. More so, if the Denizens are seeking to slaughter the Adventurers like lambs, then you should have made your own escape." It was true, this individual did peculiar things that proved somewhat illogical. However, if this was the path he chose, she would not hesitate in using his assistance. "But, seeing as you are here. Do you have any plans on how to get us both out?"

@Exanis

After hunting with the boys (Joshua and Orlando), Kala had finally gotten a grip on her mind a wrangled it back into a semi better place. At least for the moment it was. Fighting along side the boys had effectively taken her mind off whatever that image was, though once they were done and they'd all said their goodbyes, Kala had took this freedom and escaped deep into the marketplace. There she spent her time buying very little. At most she bought a few health potions and bandages. That was really all she needed. Most would think she was crazy for not buying more weapons or armor instead of her wearing simple clothing as she was. Kala didn't care though.

From the market, Kala made her way to some back ally street where no one was and ditched her shoes as well as her jacket, at least for the moment. As quickly as she could, and ignoring the sight of her very pale arms and legs as well as her legs being oddly scared up with different sizes of lacerations, each giving her a bad feeling, more than she already had; she began to wrap her legs up in the bandages she bought. Quickly she wrapped up both legs tightly with the bandages and tight them off. The look was quite nice, especially with her tomboy-ish appearance. In a way, he legs looked like mummy wrappings, but she didn't care. All she cared about was the fact that no one could see the scars now, not even her. Just as she was about to put on her boots, she looked up to see thousands of torches lighting up everywhere.
"What the.." She began before her raven black hair got pulled from behind.

"Look here. I got myself a real nice adventure here." A deep voice came from behind her, it very clearly a male. "Let me go." She threatened lowly. This was his only warning before she'd kill him. In response a knife was lifted to her throat. "Now now. I wouldn't go trying to threaten me. I clearly have the upper hand." He said, but Kala only smirked. "You sure about that?" She asked, but before he could ever answer, her elbow swung back and into his abdomen causing the guy to lose concentration as well as grunt and loosen his grip on her hair allowing her to slip free, the blade nicking her neck lightly but not enough to be any way fatal. "You-!" Was all he got out before Anguish was drawn and she easily skewering him. "Fool." She said before pulling out Anguish and turning around.

Kala then heard the sounds of fighting and she could only guess it was the citizens fighting the and ventures.
"This is bad.." She mumbled and for a brief moment she wondered how to escape. The city was a death trap, and she may have only been in an outer district but just like that man, they'd find her too. With a quick look around, she tried to find an escape that wasn't already littered with the light of torches. Nothing seemed free..she'd have to try and climb the gates or jump over them. With another look around she found a some-what decently tall building that was only a bout a 3 foot distance from the gates. "There." She said and ran toward it, doing her best to avoid the light.

Being with no shoes on, Kala was much more quiet and with what little clothing she had on (board shorts and a tank top. Both black) she was much more nimble. She ran through the darkness like an assassin looking for prey, only she was the prey and the predators were everywhere. Kala's heart was racing as she made it to the stone building and tried to climb it without being seen. With her luck she made it half way up before a group below her noticed her.
"Shit." She muttered as the people were told to get her. She began to climb faster and faster, the people who'd been told to get her were surely catching up as all they had to do was run up stairs and beat her to the roof.

Several seconds passed before Kala managed to make it to the roof before the group did. She'd thank whatever later right now she had to figure out how to leap the fence and not break her legs. A few more seconds passed before Kala remember the whistle. Without any hesitation she blew into the whistle, the sound bounding off buildings and drawing more attention.
"Come on!" She willed whatever mount came from the whistle. More moments passed and the backdoor behind her burst open and her mount appeared. It's red eyes looking at her, waiting over the gate. She didn't care anymore about whether to not she liked the drake, all she cared about was hopping the fence before the group behind her tried to kill her.

The group drew near, but Kala didn't draw Anguish as she backed up slightly then ran forward as fast as she could. As the edge of the building approached, the group behind her were yelling commands and running after her on the flat rooftop. before Kala reached the edge, she jumped. The men behind her tried to grab her before doing so, but to no avail did that work. In the next few aching seconds, Kala was propelling forward, nearly hitting the gate before dropping down and onto the back of the drake. The minute she landed, she didn't look back she just lightly kicked the sides of the drake and it took off toward Gleamfang's Den. As if it knew that was the place to go.

"That...was close."

"I would say thank god that you're here, but that would still be bad. I was hoping you managed to get out beforehand." He sighs and runs a hand through his hair, glancing around as if to confirm that no one would pop out of the shadows unexpectedly. "I don't have much of a plan really. I couldn't just leave you behind after all." He stops again and seems to contemplate something. "So, this may sound a bit stupid, and it really is but it's the only idea that comes to mind at the moment. How oppose would you be to hopping on my back and I'd sprint us out of town. I've pretty much figured where all the mobs should be based on where they've been before. Once out, we can use the whistles that we got to get to GleamFang's den." He stops and ponders some more. "Granted many things could go wrong but I honestly have no other options in mind. Your thoughts?"

As he waited for her response, he took a moment to walk through the library, looking for where Ashelynn could be. Finding her, he took another moment to look her over, noting that something was off with her eyes. They seemed vacant, as if they weren't looking at anything, but through them. He supposed she was simply lost in thought though. He knew he got like that many times when he was left alone with his thoughts, and honestly what better place for solitude than a library.

After running for quite a while, Orlando reached Gleamfang's Den without much trouble other than stopping to rest once before heading over. As the den came into view, he could see Joshua, Roku, and what looked to be Sun sipping on some ale, all crowded around the entrance. No doubt they were waiting for all the other possible survivors of the Aparches mob. Frankly, Orlando felt semi well as he had managed to escape without taking any denizen lives, however, the issue of the unseen puppeteer was still on his mind. Who or what would want to remove the adventurers from the equation so badly? Orlando decided to make conversation with Joshua and Roku while he hopefully waited for Kala to make her way here; he bad a burning question that he needed answered by her.

@revior @Lana Valentine @xEmoBunnehx

Kala had been riding he mount for quite a while, her mind in whirls about what was going on back in the city. Why were they rioting? Would the city still stand? She didn't know. All she knew what that from tonight, her kill count was one so far. Not that killing really bothered her..it was ust the fact that her Mark was visible and every single scar she had as well. Within a few more minutes she had arrived at GleamFang's Den, her eyes scanning over the people already there. Roku, Sun, Joshua and Orlando had made it so far, that easing her mind slightly. As her mount slowed down and entered the mouth if the cave, she dismounted and sighed deeply. "Its a mess out there.." She mumbled softly as she tried he best to cover up the huge white scar on her wrist. For some reason Kala didn't like people seeing her tattoos or scars..though if there was any lighting within the cave all of them would be visible.

@Lana Valentine @revior @Clockwork Syringe

As Orlando was about to speak to the rest of the group, he noticed Kala approaching and the burning question he had earlier surfaced from the depths of his mind. Deciding to answer said question, Orlando walked over to meet Kala as she arrived at the mouth of the den. "Good to see you've made it safely to the Den," Orlando began, "I was wondering if we might discuss something privately?"

@xEmoBunnehx

Kala turned to look at Orlando as her drake curled up and closed it's eyes like it was going to rest, as it deserved so after running so far. "Uhm..sure?" She said to him, very unsure as to what he wanted to discuss with her. Had she does something wrong? Did he disapprove how she handled situations? She wasn't sure, but her mind had come up with several suggestions as to what exactly it might be.

@Clockwork Syringe

"Great, I promise that this will be brief," Orlando replied. He then led Kala over to a small group of trees within looking distance of the Den. "Now this is the question I have to ask," Orlando began. "You remember when we were discussing the vision I had earlier today correct? I didn't want to say anything until it was just the two of us, but I noticed a scar on your wrist back then. It would have been rude of me to ask so bluntly then, but I am curious, what caused the scar?"

@xEmoBunnehx

As Kala followed him, her heart picked up the pace. Worry over coming her until the got away from the entire group and it was only the two them. The he asked the one question she'd been hoping to avoid. Her scar. "Y-you mean this one?" She asked and very shyly removed her hand from the long scar on her wrist. Kala's composure wasn't normally lost this easily, but the fresh memory of that vision rang in her head, only making fear ring though her. Inwardly she thanked the sky for turning to night so that her face wasn't as easily illuminated. Her current expression was worry and fear mixed in her eyes, and her teeth lightly biting down on her bottom lip. She wasn't so sure she wanted to proudly admit that at some point she might have been a cultist. Or maybe something else. She wasn't exactly sure. All she knew was that a man named Cain caused that scar and for some reason she loved it. As for the Mark..well she had no idea what it mean for how it got there. If he asked about that she could easily say she had no idea. That one she was ignorant to. As well as the multitude of lacerations all over her body.

@Clockwork Syringe

"Yes, that scar on your wrist," Orlando replied. He had noticed that she had hesitated in removing it for a second if she was trying to hide something. "It's a rather large scar, I was wondering who or what caused that?" It's possible it may have been from an animal, but," Orlando moved in closer, "i've never seen an animal nearby that could cause such a mark. It is possible that you may or may not remember it much like how I don't remember the shadowy figures in my vision?"

@xEmoBunnehx

Kala glanced up at Orlando then down at the scar. "It..was certainly not an animal.." She said softly. For a long moment after saying that Kala debated heavily whether or not to actually tell him who actually did it and why. Would he hate me? Probably. The guy is a hero type.. I'm certainly no where near a hero. What would he say? How would he react? Thousands of questions racked her brain, making her bite onto her lower lip so much harder that it actually drew blood. Her mouth tasted like copper, as she continued to look at the scar. Kala's shaking from early returned as she still said nothing. Unsure of what he'd think after something like that was revealed. So far Kala only had three friends in this world..and losing one over some kind of..vision of her being a masochist.. well that just didn't sit right with her. Kala's stomach turned with anxiety as more of her composure was dropped. She never even noticed him get closer to her.

@Clockwork Syringe

"Not an animal, then who would have done such a thing?" Orlando questioned. "But I have to say, If whoever it was fought you and you survived, I'd have to say, You fought him off. I'd hate to see the other guy," he chuckled. Suddenly he noticed that Kala began to shake and quiver as if something she said triggered the action. "Hey, are you all right?"

@xEmoBunnehx

Kala nodded slightly. "Y-yeah.." She said, her voice carrying off at the end as she decided to look away from the scar and up at Orlando. The first person she'd ever talked to in the world. The first person she ever considered a friend. That's when it hit her. She knew..even if it was blind, she could trust him ad maybe..just maybe..he'd understand. "H-hey..you remember those figures we saw in the other town..and I called them cultists..?" She started. "W-well..looking at them..I felt something..familiar. I was never sure that's what they were, and I'm still not but regardless that's not..r-really where I wanted to go with this.." She stopped, her shaking had worsened. Kala tried to swallow the the lump in her throat as she tried to prepare herself for what she was going to say next.

"T-This scar..I-I willingly..accepted.."

@Clockwork Syringe

"T-This scar..I-I willingly..accepted.."

With that line, it all became clear to Orlando. Kala's apprehensiveness to the cultists, her split battle personality, why she wanted to keep this a secret and why she stayed mostly silent during the discussion about the cultists. All of these facts became suddenly illuminated, but that was Kala's past self, not her current. Orlando then spoke to Kala, "Kala, whatever you did before you lost consciousness and ended up in our current situation when you rejuvenated at the Temple, that was the past you. There was a reason we all forgot our pasts, we just don't know it yet. Do not let the past weigh you down, use that as motivation to move forward."

@xEmoBunnehx

Kala let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, then shook her head at him. "My past is written all over my body. There's no telling what else is on me Orlando. I don't even know what what it all could be!" She exclaimed as she reached up and ran a shaking hand through her hair. "Look at me. I've got this Mark." She gestured from her chest all the way down her arm, "And I could wager that at least eighty percent of my body is scars from who knows what! I'm a mutilated freak who ran with god knows what! Time can only tell when my past might catch up to me. When I might see..him again." She ranted, worry and several other emotions coursing though her body at just the thought of seeing that white haired, golden eyed man again. Cain. Who was he? Why did she join him? Why! Kala wanted answers, and more than anything..she wanted to know who Cain was and why at even the thought of him was she..affected in ways she'd never know before. "A-and that's not even the worse of it. I kill..like it's absolutely nothing. I feel no remorse. In fact..it gives me this..this rush like I've never felt before. Eventually this rush gets so bad I..I just lose control. Surely you've noticed this. You're not ignorant. How long is it before this..this other person turns on you and Joshua? You are strong Orlando..and Joshua is too.. But if I hurt either of you because I became some..killing machine..I'd never forgive myself." A sadness washed over Kala, as she looked up at Orlando, like maybe he could answer her questions..or maybe like he might simply understand her.

@Clockwork Syringe

Roku had been deep within a private conversation with Sun Zhao, the two spoke in whispers to one another and occasionally shared a short fit of genuine laughter. Their attention shifted after a short while as Roku glanced at Joshua, "I know them, these supposed heroes of legend and they somehow know me." She explained in a quiet voice.

Roku's attention shifted just as a bright blue portal opened within the large den area they were within. A male clad in entirely jet black armor, stepped out of the portal followed by ten other adventuerers. The male bowed towards Sun Zhao and then Roku whom responded with a light wave and a bow as well. The adventuerers went into a section of the Den area and began to talk amogst themselves as the armored male spoke in a monotone and nearly dead sounding voice, "These are some of the survivors it seems most of the outsiders are not surviving this eve."

Roku nodded her head as Sun Zhao refilled his tankard somehow, he raised the cup upward and said, "May they enjoy the date That awaits them, for they shall be missed." Roku raised her own cup up and drank the contents down alongside Sun Zhao. The three quietly gathered together near a corner of the large den room that once housed the legendary Gleamfang. They spoke in hushed tones to one another and the three shared a drink with one another as they seemingly awaited the apperance of more people before they delved into any explanations.

"Kala…" Orlando began, "You are a damn good fighter and I have no doubt that you can keep it under control. Even if your other counterpart has a battle hungry persona, we will cross that bridge when we get there. I cannot speak for Joshua, but should we encounter whoever you are referring to, I will definitely help you remove his influence. You cannot change the past Kala, but the future is not yet written. I am almost certain that there are others who have gone through a predicament similar to yours and come out on top."

Kala looks away from him and up at the moon. "If one day..I can't control it..I expect you to do what needs to be done." Her voice had gained a hard tone to it as she spoke, but she seemed very sure of what she was implying to him. "Also. There's no reason to tell Joshua. Only you need to know..for now at least." She said. The sorrow she felt was..overpowering. Like she'd lost someone dear to her, but she hadn't. Kala had only hoped for answers, and surely enough she'd find them out eventually. Cain. Whoever you are to me..I'm gonna find you..and I swear...you will tell me everything I demand of you. I may not be able to change the past, but I will remember it..somehow. Someway.She swore to herself. Her outward look changing from sadness to determination. Kala could conquer this other persona. She had to.

@Clockwork Syringe

Her voice sought no quick escape, as in silence, she weighed the chances of escape with such a burden. Alex was proving to be a peculiar one, lingering within a town that even heroes warned against. Growing in volume, she could tell the boy was getting closer to her position within the library. With each step he was only proving more foolish, willingly partaking in an exaggerated scheme that forced an inconvenience upon him. Not that it was her place to force another's path to alter beyond their own intent. When his presence was made within her vicinity, Ashelynn's thoughts were already forfeit.

With stale eyes cast downward, she reached for the boy's position. Waiting for her hand to graze the boy, steadily coming to grab for his shoulders, she began to pivot herself as if to prevent unnecessary collision during movement around Alex.
"Show sturdier faith within the paths you choose adventurer, else-wise trust will not build in your behalf. " With quickness she jumped upon the boys back, forcing her frail arms to rest upon his shoulders before lightly wrapping them below his neck. However, her grip only tightened, head coming to rest upon one of the shoulders whilst she lifted her feet from the ground to further brace her position. "I only have one alteration to your plan. Upon leaving Aparches, I wish to head Southwest." The thought was built upon last minute desire. Within the open road she would hold no sense of direction. More so, on the roads they were more likely to frequent Denizens. As such, it was perhaps even safer to run off in such a random direction that held nothing of value. With ocean waves running alongside her, she would at least have some bearings. "Too much trouble?" She asked lightly, attempting to control her voice due to the closeness of his ears.

(Take us out, Alex!)

Alexander noticed her peculiar method of getting to him, and something of an inkling of why planted itself in his mind. Ignoring it for the moment, he wrapped his arms underneath her legs to stabilize her, and began a slow trek out of the library. As they reach the door he finally answered. "Southwest eh? I think I remember something about an ocean in that direction." He smiles wistfully to himself. "Y'know, before all this happened, I had planned on just checking out the nearby ruins, and then leaving to travel. My first stop was going to be the ocean, just cause how vast it is. When everything started, I thought my chance to see it was gone. But I guess I'll be able to see it after all. So to answer your question, no, it's no trouble at all." With his piece said, he exited the library into the town. Gazing around to see if any of the mobs had decided to take a path that differed from what he had projected them to take in his mind, he was pleasantly surprised to find that they were following the routes he thought they would take. Without another moments hesitation Alexander took off in a sprint, going towards the southwestern part of town for easier travel once out. Thankfully, he managed to avoid all the mobs even with his change in plans in which direction to go, and eventually he got them out of town and into the shade of a few trees. Gently letting Ashelynn onto her feet once more, he took a quick breath to refill his lungs after that brief stint of sprinting across town, then he turned to Ashelynn. "Well, we're out. You said you wanted to head southwest, so I suppose we better get going before anyone catches wind about us." He then pulled out the whistle that he had gotten earlier in the day. While he knew what it did, he honestly didn't know what would come for him, given him just lazing about in town all day. With a quick blow and once dull puff of smoke later, he stood staring blankly at what seemed to be an undead, decaying shark with legs. What's more is that it seemed to be affectionate towards him, something that he was sure others would find mildly terrifying given it's appearance. Absentmindedly patting it's head, he turned to Ashe, his expression unchanging from the deadpan stare it seems to be stuck in. "So what'd you get from your whistle?

Gleamfang's Den

Deren stumbled as fast as he could through the dense brush, his heart pounding at concerning rates. He helplessly batted protruding crooked branches in his path, only to receive a vengeful slash in return. Each mound of roots in his way slowed him down significantly, keeping him under the tormenting gentle green light for longer. His face was riddled with sweat, alongside being a pink red, a testimony to his grueling exercise, however, any excuses in speed would have led to his demise, he wasn't going to stroll for his life now, was he? He burst through the forest as if it were a large curtain at a theater, knowing that this was where he had heard the voices. He had arrived at the entrance of Gleamfang's Den. Deren's shaking form quickly collapsed, twisting onto his back as he struck the ground. He stared up at the sky with wide eyes, his lungs rising and falling like a restless ocean. His fingers groped at the ground, due to his insecurity, these were adventurers, right? He wondered how lucky he was to have not fallen on a rock at this particularly rocky entrance, also why he hadn't even considered that he may have fallen on a rock. At least he'd had one stroke of luck at this period on time, this period where he was being hunted. Being a metaphorical deer was definitely not fun.

"Agreed, but for both of our sakes, I will pray that it will never come to that." Orlando started, "this needs to be kept between the two of us for now, nobody else needs to know." Orlando turned and looked her directly in the face with the passion of determination blazing in his eyes. "When the time comes, I will stand by your side to help you face whoever it is that caused you this pain." Kala had been through so much in the past and this was the least Orlando could do. It also made him think of his own mysterious past, and why he currently had no memories of what caused him to gain the eyepatch as well as his avoidance to remove it. "I think it's time we headed back to the den."

Released from his back, and standing upon her own feet once more, she maintained balance. She could not help but draw her eyes towards the direction of Alex, once more his words projected the idea of coming along with her. Surely he understood there was little merit in following her whims. However, a vocalized complaint would not be made, seeing that he would be useful. It was merely strange that an individual would willingly partake in an inconvenience that held no direction in building upon a path.

The sharpness of a whistle bit her ears, the suddenness of it forcing her hands to cover them sloppily. The following sounds were more forgiving, allowing her to find a mild peace. Surely the whistle had summoned a creature for him, however she could not pin what it could be from sound alone. In fact, the thought of analysis based upon sound seemingly absorbed her. So much, that Alex's question mildly caught her off guard. Within a moment she withdrew the whistle from her robe, forcefully shutting her eyes as if in attempt to brace herself for the obnoxious sound. The effect proved to be lesser than that of Alex's whistle, but that was probably only due to the fact that she was the one generating this sound. However, unlike Alex's, there was no sudden presence of a creature. "Such an insufferable device, both in volume and it's unpredictable nature. "

Voices from within the town could be heard, the audibility of the whistles perhaps causing a mild stir in the closer patrols. Aside from them, she could also hear that hurried steps of a creature making it's approach. The idea of staring into nothingness when an unknown beast was quickly approaching was mildly disconcerting. More so, when one had to question in what matter had the whistle called upon it. However, with it's slowing pace, a calmness could be restored. Though, it was short lived when the massive frame pushed against her own. She was forced to grab onto the hardened scales to keep from falling over as the beast pressed against her. What proved disturbing, was the fact the she could feel it's breathe upon her legs. Which meant this things head roughly matched her torso in size. Forcing the affection away with minor resistance, Ashelynn walked the edges of the beast. Taking a step further when she felt the near bladed protrusion of scales reaching out to her. Was it reptilian in nature? Perhaps what she summoned was something of a giant lizard, however the head's mass was probably too bulky to peacefully assume. "Further investigation will be held later" She spoke to Alex, guiding herself to a location where the sharper scales were not present before climbing onto the creature with prolonged difficulty. "Let us depart Alex, you take the lead. We will ride until we reach the water's edge."

Alexander could only blink as what he would describe as a giant, spiked cat came into view. He had to admit, it did look interesting to say the least. Glancing back at his shark companion, he wondered which he would prefer more. He quickly came to the conclusion that he was, in fact, quite content with having his current companion be what it is. He was snapped out of his thoughts as Ashelynn began to walk towards the creature, seeming to take care of the spikes, yet something threw him off. Further investigation? While he was sure that this kind of creature wasn't common in any matter of the word, he could quite clearly see it's feline origin. His concern only grew further as he for once paid closer attention to Ashelynn and how she interacted with the surroundings. A chilling dread seemed to fill his body, but he knew that, at the moment, they had to get out of here. Climbing onto his shark, he looked at the beast that Ashelynn was riding and gave it a look that implied it should follow him. He sincerely hoped that it understood his attempt to communicate. With that done, he gently urged his mount into a run, glancing over his shoulder to see if Ashelynn was behind him, and thankfully, she seemed to be. Gazing back forward, he let his mind drift as they slowly got farther and farther from Aparches.

Something seemed to be wrong with Ashelynn. He didn't want to believe it, but the facts were piling up with each second around her. The difficulty in which she interacted with everything around her. Her words and actions. The little things that he simply ignored before were not glaring him in the face. Yet, he didn't know how to bring it up. He was unsure if she would ever bring it up either, so that left him at a difficult crossroads. He knew from her personality she wouldn't be too offended with a blunt question, and he supposed it would be the best way to simply get it over with. Glancing back once again, he figured that they had rode far enough that they could slow down slightly, enough to hold a conversation without the wind and sounds of travel muffling their words. Gently patting his steed, it seemed to get the idea and slowed down gradually. Ashelynn's mount too seemed to understand and followed suit after bringing itself alongside Alexander. Taking a breath, he got what would be the start of an interesting conversation over with.

"Ashelynn are you blind?"

Kala nodded. "Agreed. Joshua had probably talked Roku's head off by now." She joked lightly, trying her best to lighten the mood though it likely didn't work too well. She looked away from the stars and directly into his eyes. "Thank you Orlando. For your kindness.." For the first time in what felt like forever, Kala gave him a real smile. It was small..and not very much, but still it was a smile nonetheless. For some reason..smiling felt..odd to her. Like it wasn't something Kala did a lot, making her felt slightly awkward on the inside but she did her best to push it away.

((Sorry..I'm like.. really low muse and this was the best I had x.x))
