Realistic or Modern Zombie Apocalypse

Hauling the unconscious woman in the bed of the truck he climbed in himself after the one who'd helped him went back to the drivers seat. One by one they filed into the vehicle, one of the zeds got too close and again Austin was forced to kick it in the face. Falling backwards it stumbled, "Drive!" He called towards the others who we're inside the truck, then slid towards the back window of the vehicle all the while grabbing the woman's head and upper body to pull her closer and onto his legs for support so as to make sure that she didn't get thrown about and get injured in the process when the vehicle inevitably sped off.

Jennifer gave the truck gas, and sped off into an open field behind the buildings they were just in. She needed to get them as far as possible from that herd as fast as she could. She checked the rear view and side view mirrors as she sped off, seeing the undead become silhouettes in the distance. But they weren't far enough away from them at this point to say they're in the clear. She eventually found her way unto a road, which was rather deserted. No vehicles, no undead, none of anything. Upon this, she slowed down.

"Everyone good? Is she still unconscious," Jennifer asked, her speed slowing, calling out of her window.

During all of this, it never occurred to Jennifer that it's possible that maybe this girl could've been bitten, or scratched.

"How are her vitals? Is there a pulse, she asked the two in the back, continuing to coast down the road at a speed of around 10 MPH.

"Is it possible that she was bitten, or scratched," questioned Jennifer, rather dismally.

She hated to ask this, but they had to be certain nothing happened to her. The last thing they need is for her to be bitten, and even turn on them while she's back there. She put the truck in park and hopped out, knowing that they were far enough away from the herd to be safe for awhile.

"Look, we've got to be careful," starts Jennifer, walking towards the bed. "We don't know if she was. And I hate to say it, but we should check her and make sure. We don't know why she passed out. It could be nothing. But we have to make sure she isn't. Does it look like she was bitten anywhere?"

The end of adrenaline in running through Jennifer's body brought the pain of her wound she suffered earlier in the day back. She clutched her wound, breathing in sharply as the pain returned. And also in the midst of this all, she had forgotten about her lack of medication, lifesaving medication.

And also in the midst of all of this, she had somewhat grown to like everyone. Mica seemed to trust her. Jennifer feels like she trusts her. And she did volunteer to give her the medication earlier. This made Jennifer able to live a bit longer, because if she didn't get to take it then, she would have started to die. Jennifer really respects and appreciates what she did for her there. The man, while a hard-ass and maybe not the most "people person," per-se, he did go out of his way to help her and Mica, when everything went to shit earlier. She does respect him, and thinks maybe he isn't as bad as he may seem at first. He clearly does care and have a conscious, which she feels he'll deny. The girl who passed out she also really really respects. She jumped into action to save all of their asses from dying. She clearly cared about everyone. Jennifer respects that a lot. And then there is mystery girl with a katana that pretty much kicked all of the undead's asses. She clearly is skillful, and can be a great asset if they were all to become a small group. She had given a terrible first impression. But she did come save all of their asses, and was a big help. Her entrance may have been questionable, but she did turn out to be good after all. Jennifer is still a bit weary of her, but she isn't as perturbed by her. She still needs to know her first, but she's going to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Echo searched the unconscious girl, looking for wounds and such. She looked at Jennifer, "no bites just the usual scars bruises and such, but I'm no medical expert, so don't trust me for my words." Echo said calmly. She jumped out of the truck, "I only aimed a gun at all of you because you don't know who you can trust." She lifted up the sleeved of her black jacket, showing an old bullet wound. She put her jacket back over her arm. "Gang member grew insane, tried to eat and kill us." She strained keeping the pain out of her voice. "Anyway... I should go, thanks for saving my ass." She said and turned to walk off.

Tori could hear voices around her as she started to come too, Well not really voices more like sounds she couldn't really make out what they were saying or if they were words. Her forehead crinkled into a furrow and her face started to frown. Her head felt like she had stuck it in a sink full of water or something everything around her felt dulled. She wiggled her fingers at first trying to remember what it was that had actually happened and when they twitched she was kinda happy. At least she hadn't fell of a building or something. She let out a soft groaned and started to open her eyes the sounds starting to rush to her now..and she felt prodding fingers. "Eugh i'm not dead" she managed to mutter and brought her hand up to her face. It was around that time it came to her like a flash, Gas station, rooftop, truck and it was also then that Tori realized she wasn't just laying on something cold but something warm too and she sat up quickly. In fact she sat up so fast she made herself a little dizzy. "damn this feels worse than a hangover and without all the fun" she complained.

The blonde glanced behind her seeing just who it was she was laying on before hand and sighed, well she was never going to live this down if she decided he was sticking around was she..she glanced at the others and grimaced i am the girl who faints. She didn't know if that was more disappointing or annoying. When the world stopped doing it's little dance and decided to be still Tori opened her eyes fully and looked at everyone and then where they were. A smile came onto her face..hey they had actually made it out..all of us she thought happily. She felt a little proud of that, it wasn't bad for a plan pulled out of their asses last minute. "Ah yeah soo, umm sorry for passing out on you all at probably the worst possible minute..and ya know thanks for not making me dead meat..literally." Tori shrugged a little awkwardly at that. She wasn't great with thank you's or apologies.

Jennifer waited as the katana-wielding girl searched the unconscious one. She was hoping for the best, and upon hearing nothing bad, she let out a sign of relief and smiled slightly. She was happy about how this turned out.

DarknessSpirit said:
"I only aimed a gun at all of you because you don't know who you can trust."
"I understand," started Jennifer, "but I was under the impression that you were going to shoot us for a second. I nearly shot you. I get your point, but I hope you get mine. But being how you helped us, I don't think I'm as upset about it now. We're all survivors. Just be careful. You never know what someone is going to do once you pull a gun on them. It may get you-or both you and they person you pulled it on-killed, when you're really on the same side. But... I do get your point of view."

Then the strange girl said she was going to leave.

Leave? What was the point of helping us, then? Jennifer thought to herself.

"You're just going to leave now," asked Jennifer, confused. "Then why did you save us? What was the point? I don't get your decision to leave."

Jennifer was truly puzzled by this. Why would she leave after that? The discussion was interrupted by the sudden awakening of our truck-passing out savior. Jennifer smiled. She was happy to see the girl alive. She had, after all, saved their asses. And big time.

"Welcome back, sleepy head," Jennifer joked. "You saved our asses, and we're really thankfully for it. Even if we kept you from being dead meat, you saved us. And we did save you. So I guess we're even," she said cracking a smile. "I would thank all of you for what you did for Aidan and I, but I'm afraid I don't know any of your names." She looked at everyone. "I'm Jennifer. It's nice to finally say that properly after all of this."

Miyuki thinks for a second trying to come up with a place too meet up at, "Lets see.........how about ........on top of the casino down Main Street?" She asks, she didn't know too many places that weren't infected or full of infected but roof tops are safe. However there was the problem of Skylynn and the baby, "I don't think Skylynn would be able to climb the stairs though.

@Mercer

Once the truck had lurched onto the road and it had become less hectic Austin had already pressed fingers to the woman's neck to check the pulse by the time the girl driving had asked. Waiting a few seconds he let out a sigh of relief, the katana wielder looked her over and he came to the conclusion... "She just passed out, she'll be fine." He called out loudly enough for those in the cab to hear. Though he took notice of the sharp breath the driver took in and rolled his eyes, Great. When the newest addition decided to give excuses for pointing the weapon and showing the scar he wasn't too surprised, there was a reason he hadn't shot her the moment he saw the woman headed his way.

Jumping from the truck even at a slow speed the man shrugged his shoulders, good, she got it, now he just hoped these others decided to do the same. Splitting off was better, look what had happened in just a few minutes of meeting each other...they'd almost all been torn to shreds when he'd gone this whole week with no incident...until today. There was movement below and Austin realized the unconscious woman was coming to, "Sleeping beauty awakens." With a snort he re-positioned himself away from her as she sat up. "Thanks for coming to help, then passing out and almost getting us killed again." He told her with a smug smile.

The introductions started and the man figured it was the least he owed them for working together, "Austin, that's my name." Looking at Jennifer through the back windows, "You wanna stop the truck and let me have a look at that?" It was worded as a question but the tone of his voice made it more of an order. Austin had spotted the patchy red spot on her shirt when they'd been in the building but that wasn't the time to give it a second thought. However now that they we're out in the open and just a bit more safe it made sense to bring it up. This wasn't his staying, making a group like it'd been suggested. But for the moment he was with these people and one was a fainter while the other had a wound with what he guessed to be no first aid knowledge and a shoddy dressing on it. So he was going to do what he told himself he was done doing, Austin was going to help. Then he was going back to the cross country tour, and getting out of Ohio as quickly as possible because it was full of crazies.

Echo looked at Jennifer, "Yeah, I see your point, I apologize to all of you." She said apologetically. Although she was starting to wish she left the guy to die. Echo sighed "I... I don't know why I'm leaving... I guess the problem of food would be it." She lied, she knew why, if she started to care about the group, they would die someday, and it would hurt again. "Morning" she said with a smirk at the fainting girl.

"Shut it you, i'll sleeping beauty you" Tori commented and shot him a sideways before she decided to just flick him in the side of the face for the second part of that comment and a smug smirk came onto her own face and she crossed her arms over her chest which pulled at her shoulder. "ouch" she complained to herself and poked at the bruise that was already forming. She decided then and there that shotguns definitely weren't for her and that was final. "I'm Tori" she piped in. The way they were going round introducing themselves she felt like she should be sanding up in a circle and admitting to having some kind of addiction. She almost laughed at that.

The blonde looked over at Jennifer and smiled slightly with a nod "yeah i think that makes us even" she agreed. "Well Austin from here on in you shall be grumpy..that tis your name" she decided before twisting around and going onto her knees so she could peer at the people actually int he truck. Out of habit over the last few weeks she checked to make sure her taser was in her pocket and let out a relived breath when it was. She liked these people and they seemed pretty friendly so far..but still it made her feel a little better having that comfort. "wait..your hurt?" She inquired hearing Austin telling Jennifer to stop and she frowned. "We should if you are." she agreed with grumpy and glanced over her shoulders catching the tail end of the other girl showing her scar. H,m she would have to hear that story in full she decided but she looked at the girl confused "Hey..come one Echo? wasn't it at least stay until we get somewhere there could be supplies..we cant just leave you out here like this" she glanced around to where they were at and honestly there didn't seem lie much about.

@Crono @Jennifer Shotain @DarknessSpirit

Jennifer stopped the car, and put it in park. She hopped out and joined the others in the back of the truck, leaning her arms on the sides.

"It's nice to finally know your name," said Jennifer to Austin, "and yours, Tori. And also yours, Echo." Echo? Interesting name, she thought. She turned back to Austin.

"If you have some sort of medical training, go ahead and look at it. Or, if you want to make sure it isn't a bite or scratch, be my guest," she said, lifting her shirt up and taking her makeshift bandage off.

"Since I know you're going to ask me how I got this, I'll explain. I'm not sure of you heard me yell it earlier when you were all on the roof, but earlier today, I got into a huge firefight. Or more like 10 against one. I was out on the porch of a house I was holding up in, and this guy ran towards me, saying he was hurt and when he got to me, he pulled a gun out. Luckily, my reflexes were faster, and I knocked him down, shot him, and then was shot at my two snipers across the street. Next thing I know, I have men rushing down the street towards the house, I go in, kill several trying to get in, kill the snipers, and ran into the attic. I moved somewhere and the floor broke, and I fell to the floor below. And I had a piece of wood in me. So, that's how I got it. If you're asking how I ended up with you guys, that's more to it. But I'll save that for later. Anyway, go ahead. Take a look at it," she said, exposing the wound that she stitched herself.

Jennifer thought they heard her say her story earlier in the day. Oh well, explaining it again isn't too much of an issue. Jennifer was still surprised Echo was leaving. And confused, for the most part. But she kept quiet for now, as she let the others speak, especially Tori.

@Crono @Lola Shimmer @Mica @DarknessSpirit

Echo looked at the wound carefully. "Ouch." She murmured but loudly enough so they could all hear her. "HEY GRUMPY YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MEDICAL ATTENTION!?" She yelled over her shoulder. She liked his name, grumpy.

Holliday resisted the urge to face palm himself. Then he said somewhat sarcastically, "Yes lets head towards the center of town where there are even more zombies. Or how about we could think outside of the box, or rather outside of the city." Holliday raised his hand and pointed out in the distance towards a large mill by the river on the outskirts of town. "There is a smaller population density over there so we will less likely encounter any undesirables. They used it for logging once upon a time. Its gated off and should be largely untouched. I'd even bet they might have a bed or two if we searched hard enough. The river behind it also means that we would only have to guard one side as well."

Holliday thought back to the road he had been on. "Before I came to town I camped at this by this one pond about 15 miles outside of town. It had decent facilities and we could easily camp there if you want to take that option in the future. Anyway as far as getting to the point I think I found a way we should be able to get to by car. How does that sound?"

Aidan awkwardly sat by the unconscious woman. Once she woke up someone really should ask if this is a normal occurrence for if this happens in the middle of a fight again then they will be in trouble. It had been a while since she actually took in a ride in a car. It probably would be a lot faster to move around if she learned to hot-wire one herself. Those around her did a check up on how the knocked out woman was doing. She wasn't all too concerned for bites though. People took a moment to turn and she was pretty sure no one had been bitten before they had to escape the horde.

Echo gave her excuse as to why she aimed at them. Aidan hardly listened. Echo pointed a gun at her while she had been very much occupied with trying to keep everyone alive. It was a low move and it would take a moment before she would be able to fully trust the girl. She also didn't have too much pity left for people. If one has survived this long, chances were you had a story. It simply was the way things were. She was thankful that the woman started coming to. Aidan was in the mood for some blatant good news. She also had to be thankful that everyone was introducing themselves. Had Jennifer not stated what her name was already, she would have followed suit but simply reintroducing herself would just be awkward. Instead she would simply listen to them messing with Austin.

"If Austin is grumpy then Tori would be sleepy," Aidan commented quietly. She should speak up at some point but she isn't sure how integrated she wanted to be with the group. For now she was perfectly happy just listening in.

When Jennifer showed the somewhat fresh wound, Aidan couldn't help but flinch. She couldn't imagine running around with that would be all that comfortable. Hopefully she had a chance to disinfect it at some point. She observed Austin as he offered to take a look at it.

"Did you have any medical training from before," it would be incredibly fortunate of them if he happened to have been a doctor or nurse before all this.

@Crono @Jennifer Shotain @Lola Shimmer @DarknessSpirit

"That sounds good." Miyuki said, a little bit steamed that he had an attitude to her. She got into town about a day ago so how would she know where everything is. "Ok, once the baby is born are you doing to leave and meet us there?" She asks as she wanted to get the whole plan out so she has an idea of what was going to play out and if they come to a problem she can think of a back up.

Outwardly Austin showed no reaction other than light annoyance to the nickname. Internally he thought of a few a not so fun nicknames for Tori but decided to keep those to himself. "Sleepy" He mimicked after Aidan had said it, "Sounds about right." Then came the asking of medical training and Austin groaned internally, now he'd done it, they'd find out he had medical training. That made him more useful, and they'd want him to stick around even more. Austin slipped out of the bed of the truck letting his feet hit the ground, "Was Firefighter before all this." He half mumbled while focused as he crouched down and turned his head to look at the wound on Jennifer's side.

His face clearly looking displeased, "And you don't get to do that unless you have EMT training..." Austin looked from the wound up at Jennifer's face his voice going to a more normal volume, "You said it was a piece of wood? Today?" He knew the answers but he asked again to be clear before looking back at the wound. Plenty of things could go wrong if any pieces we're left inside, or if anything managed to enter her bloodstream. It wasn't exactly unusual in his line of work to have a civilian or co-worker get an injury similar to this what with houses collapsing and such.

Austin stood up and scratched at the back of his head, these people we're a serious hassle. But some seemed decent, they hadn't shot him, and infection was a hell of a way to go. A sigh escaped his lips, "You should probably let me poke around a little bit to make sure nothing got left behind when you pulled it out. Did you at-least clean it with alcohol or something? It needs to be dressed and honestly it could do with some better stitches. And I wouldn't suggest it all if I didn't think it was necessary."

"Sleepy and Grumpy? I like this. Next, we'll have the complete seven dwarfs... well, if there were seven of us," says Jennifer, liking the lightness of the talk. Some humor and sarcasm makes her feel better. She tries to show it herself, even if it's rather dull and stupid.

Upon hearing that Austin knew some medical training, this made Jennifer feel a bit better. While she has been to doctors the past two years before everything happened, she wasn't the most medical savvy. And with this wound, especially being it was wood, is bad. Who knows what could've been on that wood, if anything. She probably has splinters all in her from it. But she had no time to worry about that until now. With the undead stalking the house she was in before she could escape, she needed to patch it up as quickly as she could.

"I didn't have much disinfectant with me. I used what I could, but I fear it wasn't enough. I didn't have the time to sit there and thoroughly clean it. There was a herd-about a hundred or so-coming my way. I just had to try and stitch it and get out. Thank god you know something medical. Take any look you need at it, and please, if you can, get anything out I missed," she said, rather scared to feel the pain again.

Jennifer knew this will hurt like hell of he doesn't check it out. But, she might be dead without the proper medical care. She needs to let him go take out anything she missed, and make sure that it is properly taken care of.

@Crono @Lola Shimmer @Mica @DarknessSpirit

Echo was almost amused, she rather liked this mood other then everything else. At least 2/4 people seemed to have liked her in this little group. She listened intently on the conversation, "I'll be Dopey." She said with a sarcastic tone and a smirk.

Austin had almost wished she'd said no, then he could have left. But he'd offered and now she was asking him to take a look so he was going to. "Well I can't do it in a moving vehicle and I'd rather not get caught in the open, I'm not going to do a quick five minute look and be done with it. It has to be thorough or I'll miss something, and it's not going to be fun for you either. Me poking around in there and all, so I'd suggest we find somewhere relatively safe for the time being." Admittedly he didn't like the thought of letting the wound sit longer, but she'd already sprinted and ran and had her blood flowing enough that a little longer shouldn't hurt.

Out of sheer habit and instinct he craned his head head to look all around them to make sure nothing was wandering too close. Austin didn't trust that there wasn't someone constantly looking around out of the four of them, their talking being a distraction to all.

"Yeah, I figure it won't be fun...," Jennifer said, thinking about the pain. "Well if there's a place we can find to check it out, let's go there. I'm sure that this isn't a safe place out in the open. Plus, it's a vehicle. And as you mentioned, it had to be thorough."

She really wasn't looking forward to this. But she had no choice. It's either leave this and it gets bad and she dies from it, or she gets it looked at and properly taken care of. Jennifer thought this was oddly nice of the man who seemed to hate everyone. Austin isn't very much a people's person. But, he does do what is necessary. And he seems to care for others; enough to help. Maybe the kindness of some of these people is rubbing off on him. But, who knows. Now, they need to focus on the wound.

"So...," she started after a long pause, "We should probably try and find some place to have you look at this."

@Crono @DarknessSpirit @Mica @Lola Shimmer

"Sleepy huh?" Tori asked and she let out a small amused laugh at that. Eh she could take a dig as well as give them. If she was honest she was just glad none of these people had got offended at her sense of humor yet, "Well if we are to be the seven dwarfs at some stage then who gets to be the princess?" She asked amused. After that she simply settled into a content quiet and observed the people around her. Echo seemed nice, A bit stand offish but she had a feeling that was more self preservation than anything else. Same with Austin though she had a feeling there was something a bit further with that too hmm..She mused to herself at she took int he others. Aiden she hadn't had a loot of interaction with but she seemed pretty cool too, Quieter than the rest of them so far and well Jennifer just seemed nice Like one of those people you meet and just kinda get on with,

Tori pulled herself back to reality when she heard them talking about medical experience and such and about finding somewhere to stop "I am just gonna put it out there now I'm next to useless when it comes to first aide but heck i could build you a computer blind" she joked. As if those skills were gonna be much use to her now but she did think finding somewhere to stop would be smart. "Stopping would be smart..it would give us a chance to search for supplies to cause i don't know about you guys but i have zilch." She shrugged

@Crono @Mica @Jennifer Shotain @DarknessSpirit

As soon as Tori said she was low on supplies, Jennifer immediately remembered ow low on immunosuppressants are. She was almost done with hers for the day. After today, she has five more days worth of the medication left. She needs to get that medication.

"Um, guys... I still have to go out and search for immunosuppressants. I have about five day's worth after today. I literally can't live without them. Whatever happens to us, if we form a group or not, I need to go out and get that medication. I'm dead without it. So after we get this wound fixed up, or tomorrow, I have to go out and search nearby pharmacies for them. I don't expect any of you to come with me. I don't ask you either. But I need you all to know that I'm going to have to leave soon."

This somewhat hurt Jennifer. The people were starting to grow on her. Though she didn't want to say it, she wanted someone to come help her search for it. And she wants to come back to these people. She hasn't been with anyone since the world went to shit. And being around people was nice, people who seem to care enough to help each other survive. But she needs that medication. Without it, she's dead. And she doesn't want to die. Not yet.

Echo bit her lips, looking down at the tattles all over her arms. She was starting to grow on them, she kind of liked them... That's bad. She can't though, they'll die and pain comes back, a flicker of hurt went across her eyes before looking up at Jennifer. "I'll come." She said calmly.
Skylynn nodded her head and gave one last hard push, her body covered in sweat. She groaned loudly and lied down on the pillows, obviously exhausted. She closed her eyes for a few moments before she opened the again, hoping to catch a glimpse of her baby.
(@Shimakage Thunder )
As Skylynn gave a final push, a newborn infant came into the arms of Tiffany. Even though they lived in a cruel world, the gift of life was indeed a very beautiful thing. After cutting the infant's umbelical cord, the infant started crying as the Tiffany cleaned him up. It was a little boy! She then wrapped the little boy up before handing the bundle of joy over to his Mother. "Congratulations. It's a boy." Tiffany smiled before helping Skylynn relax as she got to hold her new bundle of joy.

Skylynn felt tears of joy prick at the corners of her eyes as she heard her baby cry for the first time. When he was handed to her she grinned widely and cuddled him close to her chest, completely ignoring how exhausted she felt. All that mattered now was this little baby, who she had yet to name. Her and Arik had never thought of names, they figured that they still had time, but time was not what they had.

She kissed the top of her baby's head, trying to calm him down and she winced as she tried to sit up as she began to feel very sore between her legs. "What should we name you little guy?" She quietly asked, kissing the top of his head and smiled when he calmed down at the sound of her voice.

"I think I like the sound of Josh Anthony Grey. Anthony was your fathers middle name little guy." She said softly. The grin on her face wouldn't seem to go away and she couldn't read her gaze away from her little boy. Even in all of this, he managed to bring some light back into the world. At least in her eyes he did.

While perhaps she was supposed to be disgusted by the idea of surgery, in reality Aidan was rather intrigued. She never actually planned on being a doctor, her high school gpa left her with little chance of getting into the medical field, but she was curious. Of course it would be rude to ask if she could watch. She went back to listening to the seven dwarfs talk from Tori and Echo. After taking a moment to think, she thought about saying she would be bashful but she didn't want to draw attention to herself.

At the mention of supplies, Aidan was reminded of everything that she had needed. She needed shotgun shells, possibly some birdshot so she could hunt for small meals everywhere. She also needed water and an emergency food supply, something that wouldn't spoil for a while. That would take some searching and she didn't think that she would find this all in a single location.

"Meh, I guess I should go too. I'm low on supplies as well," she looked to Tori and Austin, "If you guys need anything I wouldn't mind fetching it for you."

She owed the two of them for helping save her ass so she almost hoped they would pitch in a request. Aidan didn't particularly like feeling in debt to anyone. Besides, if they happen to find a good place to set up camp then at least one person should stay to hold the fort or make said fort more comfortable. All that they needed was a place to hunker down in. Aidan lived here for the majority of her life and should have been able to think of some place but at the very moment she was drawing a blank. The middle of the city, along with the suburbia that she lived in would have been crawling with walkers and gangs. Perhaps they could keep going to the outskirts though and see if there is someplace safe there.

"Though before we go searching for supplies we should try heading a little farther away from the city," she wished that google maps had still been a thing," We'll probably bump into a barn or something that is a little safer out there."
