By time her English class had ended, the girl was nearly completely asleep. Despite the teachers strange methods, and scary demeanor, she was a bore. But, she did have physical education to look forward to, what ever it was. Following the directions of one of the people with the masks, she found her way rather easily.

Staying at the back of the group of kids that had formed there, she stood quietly, a bit confused as to what this would even be used for, and what education could be taught for the physical type.

Cam emerged from the workshop, a slight smudge of machine grease smeared on her forehead and her fingernails stained dark from the oil she couldn't scrub off. She rubbed her hands together, a huge grin on her face. Cam had succeeded in making a small wizzing contraption somehow after some time of fitting parts together and troubleshooting, and she was over-joyed. The tiny machine still had some kinks, but she was hoping to make it fly by the end of the week at most to complete their assignment. Currently it did nothing more that twirl the blade for about a minute and rise stubbornly a couple inched off of the ground. It was pocketed carefully in corner of her leather bag.

Bast trotted next to her as Cam swung the bag around her shoulder to dig through it and find her magic journal. Once pulling out the book she replaced the bag back to her hip and leafed to the page of her daily scheduale. Cam raised an eyebrow, "Physical Education? In a school as large as this?" she mumbled to herself, there must be over a mile's walk through her whole scheduale in a day, she exagerated to herself. None the less she was curious and followed some of her classmates who were on their way there as well.

Upon entering the stadium, she was at awe, it was quite large and impressive. Cam noticed a member of the staff, that had been present at the faculty table during lunch, was dressed in gym instructors clothing, which looked slightly odd, since he had been dress more formally earlier.

the teacher tilted up his cap and smiled, he looked honestly a bit wierd, he had red eyes, purple hair, a big scar near his left eye, and he had a big smile on.

"welcome kids, i'm Mr Greene, i'll be you're P.E teacher, now i know you are nearvous, a P.E class in a magic school could be anything out of the ordinary, but i want to keep it fun and relaxing, dodgeball, karate, races, high-jump, all of that"

he looked over the gathering, examining the class

"i know some of you don;t become fitter in the same way others do, for example slimes don't get fitter through activit, instead you gain better control of yourself, from being able to make yourself hard enough to break walls, to being liquit enough for things to pass right through you..."

james looked a bit nearvous, he would have to compete with so many others... and he did NOT want to run track against that centaur near the front...

Mr Greened cleared his throut "for our first day we will be playing a game i like to call "ribbon catch" the blue team is given blue ribbons, the red team is given red ribbons, each side has to tuck a ribbon into the back of their pants like a tail, and the other team has to snatch it, which ever team emerges with the most ribbons wins, the rules are simple, no magic, slimes MUST have the ribbon exposed and you are not allowed to hold another team member down, or use any kind of attack against them, just snatch and go... any questions?"

Nellie turned her feet inwards, listening to the man but suddenly wishing this was one class she didn't have to take. The aspect of strengthening herself physically, was utterly unappealing. And from what she'd read in human books, it was what made men gain muscles of the large variety, females too, and that made her even more set against not doing it. But, the aspect of collecting a colour? She really didn't know.

soon, the students began splitting up in to 2 teams, James took the blue side, it seemed the girls and boys were mostly taking different teams, most of the girls took the red team, most of the boys took the blue team, of course some blues were girls and some reds were boys too.

"alright, now everyone take a ribbon"

Mr Greened held out his hands, each one had a bunch of red anf blue ribbons, each ribbon was about a foot and a half long, the boys took theirs an tucked them in to their pants, the girls did likewise, although some of the girls kept more of the ribbon exposed, thinking they were cute, like a tail.

"okay kids, inside there is a big red circle and a big blue circle, everyone go in and stand in their circle"

the doors to the stadium opened, the stadium was massive, big enough to have 2 games of cricket happening at the same time easily.

at one end of the huge stadium was a blue circle, at the other end, a red circle

"everyone go..."

after all the students got in their circles, mr Greene began to laugh

"oh and i forgot to tell you, soon the floor will rise up and you will all be contesting in an ever-changing maze"

as he finished this, the floor around each of the circles rose up 3 meters, leaving 3 exits to each circle, going into the maze passages for them all to hunt in...

As people started going to different sides, Nellie noticed a lot of the females going to the red side. Frowning deeply, she looked at the blue side, with it's majority of boys. Biting her lip, she sighed, before pulling herself over to the side of red. As the teacher directed them to their circles, she blinked a few times. What was a maze, and why did it not sound friendly?

As the floors rose up, she blinked a few times, watching team mates scatter. Standing there, she bit her lip nervously, adjusting her glasses. Fumbling with the ribbon still in her hand, she ended up finding a hole in her sleeve and poking it through so it would stay on her arm. Slowly, she started off into the maze, a fear starting to fill inside of her and as a wall shifted directly in front of her face, she nearly fainted. Pushing herself off to running deeper into the maze, she started to freak out, the walls seemingly closing in on her, the sense of being helplessly lost consumed her and by the time she hit a dead end, she was almost balling her eyes out.

James ran through the maze, he saw a group of boys and girls struggling, he was about to join the fray, when the hallway in front of him closed, the maze was still changing, but when that hallway closed, another opened, and this next one was empty.

high above them all, Mr Greene watched them, he saw Nellie balling her eyes out "hmm... chaustrophobic..." he was about to go down and get her out of there, when he saw James heading in her direction.

James ran at full speed, he saw some girls waiting around a corner for some boys to pass by, so as he sprinted past them, he snatched their ribbons, all 5 of them, and kept running, the walls changing again, blocking the girls off from pursuit.

soon though, he could hear something... sobbing... crying...

he looked around, soon fiding the direction it was coming from, going around the corner he saw Nellie, curled up int he corner, crying...

he saw her ribbon ut didn't pay it any mind, he walked up to her

"are... are you okay?" he asked, genuinely concerned.

Hearing the sound of footsteps, and then a voice, Nellie sniffled looking up. Tears streaming down from her eyes in thick streams, cheeks flushed red, breathing uneven and mixed with the occasional squeak of an inhale, the girl couldn't seem to stop, or even answer. Shaking her head, she buried it back down in her knees again, shivering every minute or so.

James seemed to forget all about the fun and games of the others in the maze, slowly, he walked towards Nellie, kneeling down next to her, he dropped the ribbons on the ground.

"please don't cry..." he said softly, using the back of his hand to wipe some of the tears from her eyes "are you scared of small places?" after saying this he put a hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her.

Looking at him again, Nellie drew in another harsh breath. Nodding slowly, she rubbed at her eye with the palm of her hand, trying to stop crying. At his second sounding, she bit her lip before nodding once again. "Iga-......" She shook her head for a moment. "..badly..."

James thought for a minuite... trying to come up with soem way to make her feel better, then he had it, shared experiences, something for her to relate to!

"i used to be scared of small places too... once when i was 8 i accidentally locked myself in the basement, mom found me 5 hours later, i was crying my eyes out and i never went in the basement ever again... i know how you feel but.... look up, there is no roof on this maze, its actually really open!"

he smiled to her comfortingly.

Cammie took a red ribbon and tucked it into her waist band, "Hey,Bast, I look like you now!" she said cheerfully, looking around her for her familiar, "Oh where, oh where has my kitty cat gone," Cam mumbled to herself as she spun in a circle trying to spot her. Cam shrugged, Bast would show up one time or another, she was sure of it. Cam sprinted off into the maze, her footsteps as light and stealthy as a cat, Bast taught her to run in such a way more on the balls of her feet than her heels so reduce the clacking sound on the ground. She came across two boys on the blue team, she came up on them fast, sliding between them and twisting as she grabbed both of their ribbons. She looked over her shoulder and stuck her tongue out at them, giggling. She looked back infront of her just in time to turn a quick corner. Several minutes into the game she had lost her original red ribbon but gained back a blue and a red, from a blue team kid who had managed to take up a red ribbon, in it's place. Snagging another as she ran past a shapeshifter, Cam then had four blue in her hand and a red back on her belt. Cam slowed and listened, she couldn't hear anyone around her so she stopped and rested, trying to get her breath back.

It turned out the class had to do with mixing liquids, or sometimes powders and ‘elements’ together to create something new. Although it wasn’t a magic class, except for the odd few, Minka found the class to rather be like magic. She hardly understood it until Movila came to explain what powders and elements were.

Eventually, the class winded down to an end, and she saw that she had something called physical education next. She knew that education usually meant learning new things, but the physical part through her off. Did that mean they would actually be doing some sort of activity in this next class?

It turned out that Minka was unfortunately right, as the teacher explained to them what would be happening in the class. She took this time to observe the other people, spotting both Nellie and James in the big crowd of students they had in the room. Although the room seemed big enough to fit the whole school, its huge space almost making her feel like she was outside.

Today they would apparently be playing something called ribbon catch, and were required to grab these strings from the ground and stuff them into their pants. The rest of the students did it without any hesitation and Minka was somewhat confused, grabbing a red one and putting it half way down her shorts as well. Then following the rest of the group towards their circle, the game had started with the floors rising up in front of them.

That was all it took, it seemed, as people ran off in different directions in the hallways that now existed only for the walls to sink and reform again in a different place. Frowning at the anomaly, she continued forward slowly and entered the passage way only for the wall to sink down in front of her. Skipping over it, she continued through the maze rather humdrum, waiting for walls to move for her, rather than moving with the walls.

It was a decent conversation with Marco, but Val was still left in the dust as he once again disappeared as a kid came into view. They hurried past her on their way to class and she took the time to dwell over the conversation they just had. Before going to her office she would need to make a trip to the headmaster’s room, and she headed off that way. It looked like this year she would be watching over a lot of students

First of all finding the fallen angel, whom she would after her meeting with the head master and then to look after all those who both excelled and didn’t try. Valentina was used to hiding in the shadows for others, but by these standards she would have to watch the entire school. At his pressure for her to come and visit she had just giggled slightly, but she knew that this new position would put her under stress.

She knocked rather softly on the headmaster’s door.

Nellie nodded her head, sniffling once more as her tears seemed to stop coming as hard as the were. "I know...but...." She extended out a shaky hand and leaned forward ever so slightly and touched the other wall of the maze. "...up won't help if I can't get there...." She gave a weak smile that died quickly as the wall next to her shifted, eliciting a scream as the girl suddenly clung to the thing nearest to her. James.

James was taken by supprise as she clung to him, but he didn't push her away, in fact after a few seconds he held her as well

"its okay... its all right"

James was sick of this, this maze terrifying Nellie, the teacher not letting her out...

he let go of her.

"hang on i'll get you out..." he said, frowning a bit.

he pulled out his wand and gripped it tight, Mr Greene noticed and suddenly his eyes were fixed on him

"if this maze is too small, then i'lll just maker it bigger... bombarda maxima!"

a light shot out from James's wand, connexting with the wall and causing a huge BOOM! which shook the entire stadium, and sent chunks of the wall he oblitterated high into the air, sending small pieces of it raining down harmlessly on everyone else.. on the other side of the wall was an obviously supprised Minka

high above, Mr Greened chuckled "he didn't want to wait, so he just made it bigger himself.... like father like son"

the headmaster raised his head "come in" he called out, waving his hand, as he did so, the dozen or so locks on his door came un-done.

"ah Valentina, come in come in! want some tea? i have discovered this delicious elven blend..."

without waiting for an answer, the old man stood up and walked over to his tea set and began mixing the herbs together

"so, what brings you around? don't get me wrong, business or not, i'm quite happy to have a spry young lady come visit an old fart like me" he said, chuckling.

As Minka continued walking through, she was a little weary on seeing no people and kept touching her ribbon to make sure it was there. A while ago, she discovered that some walls did not go down, no matter how long as you waited. They were probably the outskirts of the maze, as freeing yourself from the maze would be much easier than staying in it. The path she had been taking was rather long and winding, and as she continued walking all of a sudden a huge boom rang out. The top of the wall next to her exploded out in the same second, the same way that the large sound had echoed from. Panicking, her wings stretched out above her as the rubble that was about to fall on her rolled off, some of it making an ascent into the sky.

Looking back at the wall, she wondered who was on the other side to create such a huge blast when her wings twitched. They were smaller than any regular angels, due to her fall from heaven; yet she knew that she was still able to fly with them. Remembering back to the teacher’s explanation, she had heard nothing about not being able to use your species to your advantage. With that thought in mind, she backed up to the other wall, ran, and jumped, her small wings flapping as they lifted her over the half-wall that still stood. Minka was surprised at the scene she saw, James and Nellie in a hold with Nellie crying her eyes out while holding James.

“What happened!?” she noted, touching down on the ground in front of them.

Soon enough the head master had let her in, and Val had to wait for the many locks to unclick before actually entering. The headmaster seemed delighted to see her, and she closed the door behind her, making sure to lock all the locks before answering. “Tea would be nice, thank you…” she noted, turning her back to the door now that it was safely secured. As the headmaster guided his way to the tea set, she sat down in the seat across from his, hearing the inevitable question.

The joke attached made her smile slightly, but her trip was indeed all business and she folded her hands lightly in her lap.

“I have talked to the real headmaster…” she started, watching as the tea was placed in front of her and grabbing the cup and saucer.

“…and I assume this room’s secure per usual?” she cut herself off before she had even begun, taking a sip of her tea as he answered. It tasted a little funny, but she got used to it very quickly and found she even liked it.

“He says to move the core key to the chamber beneath ‘Charlie’” she noted, waiting a moment to see if he had any questions.

the headmaster nodded "the room is secure of course Val, the only sounds that can escape are when i call someone in, like just before with you, or when telling them to go away, in fact i reinforced the barriers here this morning... sometimes it really does help to be a paranoid old man" he said, chuckling heartily.

"yes i've heard of the investigation of potential thieves, i will have the key moved as son as possible, i'll have my most trusted Ordinators move it"

he took a sip of tea, and he raised an eyebrow "is it just me.... or is there a hint of.... dirt? in here.... those darn elves..." but he still drank it, he liked the minty element in the taste of it.

"so tell me Val, will you be keeping this old man company for a bit longer, or do you have other duties to attend to?"

As James blasted the wall Nellie blinked a few times. Why did he just do that? And as Minka flew over what remained of the wall, she blinked a few more times, before shoving herself off of James. Shaking her head, she frowned deeply, before staring at the wall that swapped itself out rather quickly, the broken one going into hiding.

James was panting, using so much power at once was like getting winded with a well placed punch "...d-did it!"

as Nellie pushed off him, he couldnt help but smile "you were clinging to me like a monkey on a branch just a few seconds ago..." as he finished he smiled, then he fell to his knees

"i-i'm okay, just... give me a second..."

when Minka touched down he looked up and smiled again

"sh... she didn't like small spaces, so i made it bigger"

Cam was moving cautiously for she heard a couple of kids talking, when she suddenly froze in her tracks as the explosion range through the air from the opposite direction. Her palms tingled as the walls around her almost jumped to protect her. However, realizing there was no threat as dust fell from the air, the walls remained stationary in their places. Cammie took the next few turns, curiously following the noise rather than continuing the task at hand.

She came upon the small group, a regular looking boy and girl and a girl with small wings. The boy was doubled over on the ground, Cam heard the last of what he said, "So you made the wall go 'ka-boom'?" she mumbled curiously. Cam looked overhead and saw the teacher overlooking them as he was amused. Cam got confused, weren't they not suppose to use magic?

James looked up at the new arrival and he smiled, even though he caused masssive damage to the maze and was now on the ground panting, he was clearly proud of himself.

"yeah.. i made it... *pant* boom!.. heh"

Slowly, James got to his feet, looking at the other students who were coming, some guys with fistfuls of red ribbons, some girls with fistfus of blue ribbons, almost everyone had lost their ribbon.

Mr Greene touched down, smirking

"Well, well, well Mr Highland, quite a show of power to end the class in one great move... tell me, why did you destroy almost a fifth of the maze?"

james was gonna answer, but he glanced to Nellie and decided he didn't want to embarrass her by telling everyone her fear

"I... I... I had my reasons..."

"like?..."

again he looked to Nellie and he got up on his toes and whispered to Mr Greene

"Nellie is chaustrophobic... i didn't wanna see her cry"

he went back down to his feet as Mr Greene sighed.

"alright... Mr Highland, for willful damage to school property, i'm giving you a week of detention!"

James's jaw dropped, his first day and he already got a week of detention!

Watching James as the teacher appeared, along with other students, Nellie fumbled a little with the edge of her shirt. As the teacher declared James having detention, something she had read about and understood rather well, she piped up. "Please, Sir. If I may, may I take it for him...after all, it was my fault he used it, and the blame, rightfully should be placed on me." Bowing her head, she held her breath, waiting for his response.

the teacher's response was immediate

"you can have detention with him then, problem solved!"

he looked at his watch, ad the maze began to sink down into the floor

"i believe school will be ending for the day soon... Mr Highland and Miss Suloughkim, make your way to the library, the librarians there will give you something to do, anyone is free to join them... class dismissed!"

It turned out the funny taste was dirt, and Val put her cup and saucer down in front of her, smacking her lips ever so slightly. “Unfortunately, I do have other business…but first, can you tell me of any students that end up visiting you more than twice?” she requests, she would rely the message to all the teachers and eventually she would come up with a list of troublemakers. Then she would also have to keep an eye on the honor students, with a sig she stood up.

“Sometimes, that man…” she noted, not really as reluctant as she seemed,

Then, with a wave, Valentina left the room and headed for her own office.

(Derp derp)

As James explained what had just happened, Minka looked at the space that they were now in and watched as another girl appeared. A big and fuzzy cat followed her and she blinked at the weird occurrence of it, hearing her question James. The boy seemed a little out of breath in his explanation, but he managed to get to his feet while the other students slowly started appearing. The teacher made his way down and asked why he had done it, and as easily as he told herself and the girl with the weird cat, it came a little bit of secretive when he told the teacher.

Eventually the teacher succumbed to giving both Nellie and James a detention, and she wondered what type of punishment that entailed but only silently.

just before Val got to her office, she heard a "boom...boom! BOOM!" approaching, that could only mean one thing.. it was the groundskeeper.

the groundskeeper was at the assembly/orientation, he stood about 15 teet tall and was usualy carrying around a giant shovel or rake, today it was a shovel.

"Miss Val" he opened with "look, some students were messing around with my tools, the lost balance and the rake went through your office's window, i've already assigned the students detention and i have had those students sweep up most of the broken glass, but i felt you should be given a heads-up, i think i can get a replacement window in a few days.... sorry"

the groundskeeper is a kind and gentle man, but with his size and care free nature with the students, accidents always tend to happen.
