Fantasy Whisper Wood (A fantasy adventure rp)

Lucas laughed "Man Smoker, you're such a help!" He chuckled and sighed, he started to realize the grim mood around the town. Lets just find a spot to sleep..." Lucas sighed and started to walk off to find a spot to sleep.
Eyes seemed to look out from a tree to the funeral. "Oh, what a sad day!" a voice laughed quietly, he looked around, kneeling on a tree branch covered by leaves. "I wasn't the one that kill the Prince... Oh well." He strange man laughed quietly and help up his gauntlet. He pushed a button and claws came out of it. "I'll get my chance to Slice right through some flesh. Like a hot knife through butter!" The man continued to laugh quietly. He sheathed his retractable claws and stood up from the branch. "I'll tell you, that will be a fun day!!!" He told himself with a evil smile. He jumped from the tree and shifted into a Vulture, flying away into the darkness.
"All right..." He began to follow Lucas and fell into step with him. "So...what is a Shifter exactly? I mean, I've seen one actually shift, but, how does that work?" He said curiously.

Scarlett was busy sketching away in the garden. As the sky grew darker someone had come around and lit all the lanterns so she was still quite content to keep drawing. She didn't mind being alone as long as she had a pencil and paper and besides, the peace and quiet was comforting.

She looked up at the sound of footsteps coming closer and waited to see who came around the corner but no one did. "Is anyone there?" she called out but there was no answer. Scarlett chalked it up to her imagination but a small part of her couldn't help but feel like she was being watched. She kept trying to tell herself that she was perfectly safe in the gardens but there was a little nagging voice telling her otherwise. She decided to head inside the palace once her drawing was complete.

Dysis manages to find her way back to the palace. Entering and walking down a hallway, she soon starting to wonder what would happen to the humans. Yeah they could stay, but after the rest of the shifter society sees how they could easily overpower them. What would keep them alive for the night let alone the rest of their lives? Lost in thought, she accidentally runs into Scarlett.

Scarlett looked up from her sketch when she heard another sound, this time there was actually someone there. "Hey Dysis," she smiled, "What are you doing in the gardens?" She didn't know Dysis well enough to know if she liked this kind of place but it seemed out of character for her. "It's really late, can't sleep?" she asked. Scarlett was a little tired but she wasn't ready for bed. She had been here in the garden sketching for hours, creating memories to tuck away and keep forever. She looked back to her paper and continued drawing the beautiful scene in front of her, capturing the glowing light of the lanterns with only her pencil.

In the dim lighting, Dysis replied "Just kinda lost at the moment." Slight fatigue was quite present as she spoke, that as if one was looking hard enough they could see that something was troubling her.

After waiting until the flames had died almost completely, Azure began her walk back to the forge. She walked slowly, keeping her eyes on the stars, arms crossed across her chest. It was chilly now that the sun had set, rising a line of goosebumps long her shoulders. The shifter could now feel sadness falling over her, making her frown as she re-entered the forge. It was warm enough in there, but her chills wouldnt go away. She still had quite a bit of work to do, but it was all light stuff with no hammering, so first she went up to her apartment above and changed out of her usual garb. She slipped on a light red dress, comfortable but something she could still do light work in. Returning to the forge, Azure sat down on the steps that lead to the office, propping her elbows on her knees and watching the hot embers thoughtfully.

Cerulean made sure everything was laid out, and was finished just before people started arriving. With a heavy sigh, he retreated to the kitchen, and began cleaning up after all the cooking that was done.

Lucas looked at him funny, he's never been asked this question before, so he though it was strange. "Well, I don't know, it just happens... Like a command thing... But I can't do it if my energy is low, so I don't change form often." He tried to give the best explanation possible that he could muster. He was never good at explaining things as a kid and this was no exception.

Looking at Dysis, Scarlett could see she wasn't in her usual mood. "Is everything alright?" she questioned knowing that they didn't really have anyone other than each other at the moment. She stopped sketching and put her pencil down in case it was something important. The glow of the candles in the lanterns was flickering a little and the cricket sounds around them had grown quiet.

When the last of the flames died down just to embers the young Queen said one last sad goodbye to the Prince and decided to head back to the palace for the feast. Now any talk of her son would be happy instead of mournful. It was late into the night but the feast would probably last until morning.

She took the long way back enjoying the peacefulness of the night, her guards followed a bit behind but watched their Queen closely. When she finally arrived the dining hall was full of people laughing, eating, and dancing, it was a full on celebration of Prince Everestt's life. Cerulean had outdone him self with the food, everything looked absolutely delicious. Emberly smiled at those who came to speak with her and she ate a strawberry tart or two but it was rather lonely at her head table now that the Prince wasn't there to share it. She would have to assign the empty seats to those closet to her in the future.

Her thoughts drifted to Kalora and Michaelis and she wondered if they had found anything of importance. She knew at least Kalora would join her if she finished her work in time, she couldn't say for sure what the Elven Prince would do but she wouldn't be surprised if he went to get drunk in a tavern. Emberly scowled at the thought. He should at least be helpful to Kalora with his knowledge of his brother and his possible attack. He hadn't really done anything to Emberly, well besides break into her palace, but maybe it was because they were complete opposites. As Queen she had to put her people first, Michaelis didn't have to do that because it was unlikely that he would ever be King. He had a lot less weight on his shoulders and maybe she was a little jealous of that, but she would die before admitting that to him.

Emberly dismissed her thoughts of Michaelis and went back to focusing on the party before her. It was nice to see most of her people smiling and having a good time. Some of the palace staff were talking of all the pranks her son had pulled on them, they were all laughing. It was nice to know that in her son's short life he had touched many.

In the eerie silence, Dysis gave a slightly embarrassed chuckle and glanced downward. "Well..." With a sigh, Dysis continued "what's going to happen to the humans? I mean, once the public knows how weak we are what's going to keep us alive for the night let alone the rest of our lives? And with the threat of war...we might be the first additions to the casualties...." She fell silent, concern now clearly plastered upon her face.

"Well," Scarlett said thinking it over, "I don't think anything is going to happen to us. Everyone already knows we aren't strong or fast or anything like that and the Shifters seem nice to me." She thought back to when Damian had protected her, "I don't think anyone here wants to hurt us and as long as we stay here we are under the Queen's protection, she told her guards to treat us as guests." Scarlett smiled at Dysis, "You're probably worrying for nothing."

"To be honest, I really like it here and I'm not sure if I even want to go back if there was a way... What about you?"

(I'm at work so I can't replay again until later tonight)

"Oh...is every shifter an animal of some sort?" Jacob asked as he looked around for the stables. This place was actually pretty big...

Lucas nodded as he found an empty hay stack, the dropped on his back onto the hay stack and let out a big yawn. "Indeed, there are multiple types of animals. There are animals that take to the skies, Which you're looking at one here, There are some that walk on land, and some that just swim." Lucas yawned and rolled over. "That's really about it to be honest with you"

Jacob plopped back on a stack of hay. "That must mean that your some type of bird, Birdboy..." he yawned and curled up into fetal position. A horse that was snacking near by trotted over and sniffed his hair. Jacob reached up and patted its nose, then lightly pushing it towards Lucas as he turned and began to sleep.

Nodding at what Scarlett had to say, Dysis replied "I guess you might be right...yet there's always a chance..." She knew Scarlett was trying to lighten the mood a bit, and it kinda worked but not much. Slowly sitting next to the other girl, Dysis continued "Go back? Well...honestly I don't know. I mean, we won't get to finish school. Hell we won't ever have a normal life...I bet our parents are worried sick." Glancing to Scarlett she remembered that her parents were loaded and finished "well, mine anyway..."

"My Dad is probably worried but I don't know about my mother, we don't really get along very well," Scarlett told her. Dysis was right, even though Scarlett had enough credits to graduate, she'd never get to go to university if they stayed here and she already had a scholarship for that. "To be honest I think I like life here better, I know my parents have a lot of money but my mom doesn't really understand who I am. She expects me to go to law school and become a lawyer just like her, but I would much rather study art. Here I can be an artist and it's good enough."

Sure it was nice to have the latest fashion, the coolest cars and more money than she'd ever need but none of that really mattered to Scarlett. People just never seemed to realize that all they ever saw was Scarlett the cheerleader, Scarlett the popular girl, and Scarlett the rich kid. Here was different though, here she was Scarlett the artist and that was all she had ever wanted to be.

"What about you Dysis? Is there anything you're running from? Or is your life back home everything you want it to be?" She really wasn't sure if the girl would answer the question, she seemed like such a private person but Scarlett was determined to prove herself a good friend and listen to anything Dysis wanted to share with her.

Novah yawned. It was late and she had been reading Everestt's journal for a while now. She closed the book and hid it on a shelf behind some potions. Needing some fresh night air she slipped out of the small hut and walked out into the empty street. The stars were beautiful and bright perfect for a nice walk alone.

Holding up her claw Dysis replied "This...I was the cause of this...and my brother's death..." Keeping her eyes focused upon the ground, Dysis had to bite her tongue to keep from getting emotional. Taking a breath she continued "My family blames me for his death though I couldn't have done any-" she clears her throat just as it begins to crack "thing. My own home was hell on earth. The night you brought me to the party, I had left with no intent to return..." Now realizing how much she had shared, Dysis was emotionless once more. Well, she appeared to be anyway. Looking to Scarlett she finished "Look...I'm not searching for pity of any kind..."

Scarlett was a bit surprised Dysis had opened up so much it was out of character for her. "No of course not, I don't pity you. We all have our own demons," she said with a sigh. No wonder she always seemed defensive, it was definitely her survival tactic. Scarlett looked at Dysis putting her hand on her shoulder, "Maybe this is the universe's way of giving us a fresh start? You know like telling us we've been fighting for our lives long enough and now it's time to wipe the slate clean and start over. No one knows us here, they don't know our lives back home. We can be anyone we want to be here." To Scarlett it sounded wonderful, exactly what she wanted. She could only hope Dysis saw it that way too.

Nodding slowly, Dysis sighed. "I guess you might be right..." Yawning, she stood and stretched. "Well i think it's about time to hit the hay..." Walking a bit she stopped and said over her shoulder "Oh and uh...thanks..." Before continuing to her room for the night

(Character update)

Cerulean worked tirelessly to ensure the feast went well. He even had cooked extra of certain dishes on request, although it was a major pain to do so. Mostly, he was cleaning the kitchen and washing dishes, humming softly to himself.

Azure used a small dish of hot coals to heat a tiny piece of tin, then used forceps to shape it carefully. It was slowly taking the shape of a stalking tiger the size of a large coin. She didnt really think about what she was doing, just kept working. It was helping her sort out her thoughts, making this tiny tiger.

Yes, of course, because a bard would have plenty of other things to do at a time like this. Notwithstanding his obvious skepticism toward her statement, Kael nodded slowly as he tore his narrowed orbs from her and fixed them on the book in his hands. To be honest, he couldn't have cared less, the only reason he diverted her attention was to avoid any sort of awkwardness that may have came with one-on-one meetings. Let's not forget that these two had a history, and one that neither of them really wanted to view in retrospect. Not at the moment anyway. Quickly filing the pages with his thumb, Kael chuckled quietly when she explained the actual contents of the book. Was he expecting something of that degree? No. Adventure and epic battles maybe, but nothing so crude. "I suppose that saying could be used both literally and figuratively. Violent, huh?"

Setting the book back into its place at the top of the basket, he slid off of his spot on the desk and veered himself over to the open chair on the other end. They had very limited time, so sitting down for tea and a chat would have to wait for a time less fraught.
"Now, about the Dragon Kingdom," He began as he crossed his leg over and rest his right foot on his left knee, leaning back against the head of the chair. "What exactly did you find out? Because from what I can tell, they haven't exactly been the talk of the realm for a while. Last anyone's heard of them, they were announcing a new king...one who probably hadn't made it far with his campaign it would seem."

Eyes peered out of a tree in frustration. "Blast it all, looks like I won't be getting paid for who ever took my kill..." Tapping his foot in frustration, he started to complain some more. "Thank to the scumbag, I'll be going hungry tonight. Looks like my mood changes quickly when I'm starving for a kill..." Placing his hand on his chin, he wondered something. Maybe if he kills someone higher up in the palace, he'll be able to get some type of reward. He has a smirk of evil and started to laugh "Yes, that might work... But, I wonder who should be that higher up..." He laughed to himself. However, he quickly muted himself has he heard someone coming down the street. He didn't know the person name but recognized what she was wearing, she obviously worked for the palace. He smiled and extended his claws, ready to strike. But, he though of something, if he were to befriend this person, then maybe she would show introduce him to the Queen. Realizing this, he knew he would get a good amount of money if he did this, along with bragging rights to any other assassin. He then jumped down from the tree and walked up to the lady. "Oi! Lady, you work for the palace correct? I need some help, I'm actually lost here, been with out a map for a long while, I'm starving and tired..." He started to make up a pitiful lie that the lady would buy into... "Mind if I get your name?" He asked the lady.

(Its Novah who's he asking for guys :P )

@Lithia

Novah was enjoying her walk, trying to clear her mind and not think of the terrible events of the day. She was so focused on not focusing on anything that she didn't see or hear anything until some guy walked right up to her. The strange man startled Novah, "Yes I work for the palace from time to time," she said nervously looking around the dark empty streets. Something about him seemed a little off but he was nice enough so she dismissed he untrusting nature. "My name is Novah and I'm an apprentice healer. What's your name?" she asked him. "I might have some snacks back in the healer's hut if you're that hungry?" she offered the stranger. She knew she should be careful of mysterious men walking in the dark but the poor guy said he was starving and she just wanted to help if she could.

"Novah, eh? What a pretty name." Dominic smiled, not at Novah's name but for the fact he was right. He knew she worked for the palace in some way. Continuing to smile, he replied to her question, placing his thumb on his chest, he answered. "The name is Dominic, Dominic Ricardo." Dominic looked at Novah, continuing to smile. "Yes, I would enjoy some snacks and a place to rest my tired head. He hated it, he truly hated being nice to this person, it made him sick. But, if it helped him to achieve his goals, he would gladly do it. "Now, if you'd be so kind if you could show me the way" He smiled

Novah smiled and blushed at his comment. "Thank you. It's nice to meet you Dominic." She yawned, "It's just back this way, follow me," she told him turning around and heading back the way she had come. "The Mistress Healer was there napping when I left but she probably went home by now. There's a bed there that we use when healing someone but it hasn't been used in a while. You can use it if you want." The village was really busy lately but it was a good thing, Novah thought that making new friends would probably help her get over losing the Prince. "So what brings you to Whisper? On an adventure?" she asked laughing a little. It wasn't a long walk back but talking would be better than complete silence.

Dominic paused for a moment, he didn't think about anyone asking him what he was doing. Well, I... Uh... Yeah, an adventure! Sorry for the pause, I'm extremely tired." He told Novah as he make a fake, rather convincing yawn. "But, that's good and all I'll get a place to sleep. Like I've stated, I'm lost, I honestly didn't know this place was called Whisper." He looked around the town, noticing it was all quiet, he looked up to the stars, noticing the glow... He wasn't too fond of that either, but, it was something he could tolerate looking at. "I'd guess if they wanted me to know about this place, they wouldn't have WHISPERED!!!!" He laughed as he made a cringe worthy pun.
