Fantasy Whisper Wood (A fantasy adventure rp)

Lucas looked at him strangely and looked around. "Alright I guess." Lucas said as he placed his hands on the back of his head and started to walk. "Don't understand why your so worried, there just people who are confused." Lucas said as he continued to walk. "So, know any private spots?" Lucas asked curiously while smiling. He acted like nothing phased him... But inside his mind he was going nuts. He feels like he is the one to blame for what happened. If he was more focused that night then maybe the Prince could of been safe.

Novah sat in complete silence as Kalora spoke of her past. It was heart breaking to here of how she had lost her first love. No one should have to watch their true love die like that. It was a terrible sacrifice to make, to die to protect someone but Novah bet given the chance Rowan would do it again to save Kalora. Her and Everestt had just begun to explore their love and she had hoped that it would turn into something as beautiful and strong as what Kalora and Rowan had. Some things were just not meant to be. When the story was finished Novah hugged Kalora again, "I'm really sorry that you had to go through that." She wiped the tears off her cheeks, "I feel less alone, and it feels comforting to know that someone understands the kind of pain that I feel."

Emberly sighed, she might as well go to her room and relax for a bit before tonight's funeral. When she turned down the hallway her room was on she saw the palace chef holding a tray. "Did you bring that up for me Cerulean?" Emberly asked him smiling slightly. The guards opened the door for the two to go in. "You can put the tray on the table there," she told him pointing to a small table. Her room felt a little unnerving after her earlier dream, relaxing tea would be perfect. "Thank you for personally bringing tea to me, you did not have to go to all that trouble though it is very kind," she could only manage a grim smile so she hoped that he would know she really did appreciate it.

Jacob shook his head as he took out a cigarette and lit it. "No, I've only been here for about two hours..." Jacob said as he smoked a bit of his cigarette, letting out the smoke through his nose. He sighed in content, closing his eyes in relish. This...has to stop... Jacob thought as he looked down at his cigarette. He shook his head and put the cigarette in his mouth with a small smile. His posture and voice had relaxed almost immidiatley, effectively calming him down. "Look, maybe there's a spot in that forest on the outskirts of the market. I know there's a stream down there, so maybe we can head to it and talk there." He suggested as he took another drag.

Cerulean turned at the sound of Emberly's voice. "Ah, yes my Queen." He said sofltly, bowing to her carefully. He followed her in and set the tray down on the table softly, watching her out of the corner of his eyes in concern "It is no trouble, Your Highness. Forgive me if it is out of line, but I wanted to be sure you were alright. And I wanted to offer the most sincere condolences, from myself and the rest of the kitchen staff." His blue green eyes met hers meekly, returning her grim smile. The shifter could see her pain, but it wasnt his position to try to comfort her outside of offering food and drink. "If you need anything else, at all, my Queen, do not hesitate to send for me." Cerulean added, dropping his eyes respectfully and bowing as he prepared to leave her.

Lucas sighed in annoyance. "But I don't wanna head to the forest..." He said in an pouting tone... "To be honest with you... I'm really tired... I haven't got a wink of sleep today..." Lucas said yawning, feeling the tiredness catch up with him. "Maybe there is a place to sleep in the market or in the castle...Because, I'm sleepy..." Lucas said yawning

(It's fine, that will happen on occasions)

(okay one more post for the night)

"You can stay if you wish," she said to him, in no hurry to be left alone to her thoughts and grief. It was sweet of him to check up on her like that. She sat down in a soft armchair and gestured for him to sit as well. She was also afraid she might fall asleep and see something in her dreams again. "Thank you for your condolences." Emberly poured some tea into a cup and sipped it slowly, the warm liquid felt calming. It was perfect, exactly how she liked to have it. "Have you thought up any new recipes lately?" she asked not sure if he would want to speak about his work. He was an amazing chef and she and the palace were lucky to have him. Emberly loved trying new foods and she especially loved sweets so she was always curious if there was anything new to try. Talking about food would be better than dwelling on the day's tragic events. Besides she could not yet tell her people that the Prince was murdered, not until they knew who did it and why, there was no point in cause unnecessary panic.

Cerulean hesitated at the door, looking up and trying to read her face. Did she truly wish him to stay? He didnt think she would offer unless she meant it. The shifter sat in the chair she indicated, watching her casually but attentively. He paid close attention as she sipped the tea, feeling a little relief when she appeared to like it. When she asked about new recipes, he raised an eyebrow, but he didnt question her. "Its been very busy, its hard to find time to experiment. But Ive been working on a new pastry. Im trying to include the scent and flavor of roses in it, but its proving very difficult to extract and add just the right amount, and to find the right flavors to balance it. I think you will like it, once I get it right." Cerulean explained quietly, aware that he was probably babbling, but also aware she probably just needed a distraction.

"It's alright," Kalora spoke with a soft smile as she returned the hug. "The pain dulled as years passed, but memories of him will always be on my mind. I hope that it will be the same for you, that his memories will live on within your mind and soul." She wiped the remaining tears of Novah's face and smiled again. "I just wanted to let you know you're not alone, that there's others who understand your pain. So, you know, if you feel like there's something you want to talk about, you'll know where to find the right people. Now come, let's bring you back to the healers hut, shall we?" Kalora stood up again and reached out a hand towards Novah. "And I should get to my study. There's a lot of work to be done."

Novah smiled at Kalora, "Thank you again for sharing your heartbreak with me and for understanding everything I'm feeling, it's nice to know I'm not alone," she said giving her one more hug. Of course there was still a lot of pain in her heart but it felt somehow less empty. She would keep Kalora's words in mind and whenever she needed to talk she would make sure to find her. Novah took her hand and the two walked back to the healer's hut, a little less weight on her shoulders.

-----

Emberly listened closely to everything Cerulean was saying about the new dish, "That sounds wonderful," she told him. "You must bring me some when you perfect it, I would love to try it," she said smiling at the thought of a new treat to try. It was nice speaking to him, he did not expect her to talk about politics, battle tactics, or anything to do with her duties as Queen, it felt like she could forget who she was for a small amount of time. On a day like today that was a gift. She sipped her tea some more, "So is there anything new with either you or your sister?" Not only did Emberly want the distraction of hearing about someone else's life, she really did care about her people, especially those who spent so much of their day making sure she was taken care of.

Kalora smiled as Novah hugged her again. "It's no big deal, Novah," she said. "I'm happy to help, to make you feel a little less worse. And believe me, you're not alone. It's not even just the two of us. But plenty of people rather build walls around themselves instead of telling others what pains them. For me, it took a long while before I decided to tell anyone. I wouldn't want anyone else to suffer like that, so I decided to step in."

She was a little surprised as Novah wanted to hold her hand as they walked back, but she didn't object. It kind felt like having a little sister, a thought that, though comforting, was rather strange to her. She hadn't had anything close to a family in years. With the sole exception of Emberly. Kalora didn't say a lot as they walked back to the healer's hut.

"Here she's back, all well," she said with a smile to the elderly healer. "Now, I should really get going. There's investigations to be done."

Kalora patted the girl on the back as she started her way back to her study in the palace.

Cerulean smiled easily at his Queen, secretly overjoyed that he had brought a smile to her lips. He didnt know why she had chosen to have him stay and make small talk with her, but it and the tea seemed to be bringing up her spirits, so he decided not to question it. "Nothing new with me, Im afraid, just cooking and loving every minute of it. Although I hear Azure will soon take over the forge permanently, she is very excited about that. And she's already started taking personal jobs, which she enjoys. But she wont have as much time to toy around with the metal jewelry she was doing, so I suppose there is a bad side." Cerulean said, allowing himself to babble a little, but only because she seemed to be enjoying it. His blue-green eyes rested on her face, respectfully reserved, so unlike his usual flirtatious manner. "Life has been going well for the both of us, busy though, so we have less time for each other, but thats just part of growing up." The shifter gave a small shrug. It bothered him to not see her much, but they were adults now, so it was unavoidable.

"That is wonderful for Azure, you must be so proud of her." Emberly didn't have any siblings so she had always wondered what it would be like to have a brother or sister. "Maybe I'll ask her to make something for me, a bracelet perhaps, then she will have time to work on her jewelry," she smiled. "It would also mean she would have to visit the palace a few extra times so you would get to see her." Emberly's eyes lit up at her plot to help out the two. She understood the weight of responsibility better than most, sometimes it was good to have a break from that. "I am glad that you love your job so much, there isn't a better chef in all the land, we are all so lucky to have you."

Emberly was having a nice time talking to Cerulean despite the somber day, but she had things to attend to, even if she would rather stay and chat. "I am sorry Cerulean but I must go be Queen for a while, thank you for the tea and the pleasant conversation. I hope we can chat again soon, and keep me updated on that dessert please," she said with a small smile. She stood to leave, "Stay and have some of the tea if you wish, the guards will let you out." With that she left the room walking down the path to the beach. Her guards were following her but she commanded them to walk a little ways back, she needed some space at least from them.

Lucas continued to yawn. "But, if you want to do that then find..." Lucas rubbed his eyes. "I just want to find a place to sleep..." He looked at Jacob yawning...

"I couldnt be prouder." He agreed happily, and nodded happily at her proposition. When she stood to leave, he did as well, giving her a respectful bow. "Have a pleasant day, my Queen. I'll let you know about that dessert." He said, smiling at her freely as she left. Cerulean sat back down, thinking deeply as he poured himself a cup of tea. He wouldnt stay long, just a moment, to mull over what had just transpired.

Novah grew bored sitting in the healer's hut and mixing potions. She needed some fresh air, she told the Mistress Healer that she would be back later and hurried out the door. Her day had gotten better after talking with Kalora and she decided that a nice walk through the market or maybe even a short flight would feel good. She stopped at a little booth and got some apple slices with honey, they were her favorite. She slowly ate the slices as she walked though the market not really aiming to end up anywhere.

Scarlett decided to take Kalora's advice and explore the gardens. They were breath taking, she had never seen anything so beautiful in all her life. There were different flowers here, ones they didn't have back at home, and the air smelled sweet. A few people wandered past giving her weird looks, probably because of her jean shorts but Scarlett almost didn't even mind. Butterflies flew from flower to flower and the birds were singing. There were bird cages hanging from the trees but they weren't closed up, they were open without a door so the birds could fly freely. In some spots the branches and vines covered the sky creating a beautiful canopied pathway and small bridges went over waterways with little fish darting around. You could hear the sound of water trickling all around you. Small stone benches were scattered around for a relaxing spot to sit and lanterns with candles in them hung about. Scarlett never wanted to leave this magical place.

She sat down and took out a folded piece of paper from her pocket and her small pencil. After finding a picture perfect scene she began to sketch the beauty around her. She always found it very easy to get completely sucked into drawing and bringing a picture to life. It was funny to think that if she had been born in this world instead of her own, she would be able to be an artist, and maybe a successful one if what the others had said at breakfast was true. The shade was nice here and the mist that sprayed off the little waterfalls was so refreshing on such a hot day. Scarlett wondered if given the choice she would want to return home.

Lucas looked around while waiting for an answer. He continued to yawn, water filled his eyes when he continued to do so. He continued to rub then like usual to improve his sight. However, this time once he did it, he found someone new. He saw a woman that looked families. Curious, he just randomly walked away from Jacob and was behind the Woman. "Excuse me miss... You look familiar?" He asked curiously not realizing it was Novah.

Halfway on the way to her study, Kalora thought it would be a good idea to make a detour through the royal library. After all, her own books and scrolls might not be good enough, or at least not provide her with the necessary information. She went to the large room with its massive wooden doors, pushed said doors open and went inside. In the library were many high bookshelves with ladders to reach the higher ones, and large chandeliers hung down from the ceiling. Together with the large windows on both sides, it provided plenty of light to read books and write down notes. Kalora smiled. She always liked the silence of the library. And it had many cozy spots to read, or just think about stuff.

"Ah, Miss Maraneth..." the librarian said. It wasn't too surprising this man's animal was an owl, symbol of wisdom. "Have you come to read more epics? Or perhaps write down interesting tales you have heard on your travels?"

"Not this time, mister Floínn. I'm here because of my other duties," Kalora said with a polite smile. The two of them had a bit of an agreement. She often brought in tales and pieces of history, and he often provided her with information from books, or news from the kingdom. It was surprising how much an old man like him heard. He would have made an exceptional Agent had he not decided to spend his days in the library. But yet he knew of her other position within the realm, and he had proven himself to be helpful on several occasions.

"This is related to the Prince's death, is it not?" the man asked.

"And quite likely a lot more than just that," Kalora admitted. "But as you might be able to imagine, I cannot speak too much of it."

"Very well then," mister Floínn said. "Do you know where to find the books you need?"

"I don't, actually. The information I need is... exclusive, I think. That's what you get when a possibly involved party hasn't shown its face in centuries... Are there even any books here on the Dragon Kingdom?" Kalora asked.

"The Dragon Kingdom you say? Well, I can't say anyone has asked about that in a long time. Even before their seclusion it was rare for people to tread there and come back with information..." the man thought for a while. "I am sorry, but I fear I cannot help you in this case."

"I half expected as much," Kalora said with a polite smile. "It was worth a try."

After thanking mister Floínn for his time, Kalora headed out of the library again, now really going to her study. She more or less expected Michaelis already waiting for her there. She could only hope he wouldn't suddenly get curious and start poking around in her books and scrolls and papers. Who knew what he might find out?

Novah turned at the sound of Lucas' voice, "Lucas, how are you?" she asked him smiling. She remembered from their earlier conversation that he liked apples, she smiled holding out the little dish of apple slices and honey, "Hungry? I can't eat them all myself." She tilted her head thinking, "Hey Lucas you know how to fight don't you?" her lavender eyes were sparkling with curiosity.

Lucas looked at Novah in shock "Oh, sorry Novah! I didn't realize it was you!" He bowed in an attempt to say sorry. He looked up at her and saw the apple slices. "Yeah, I like apples, I guess I can help you finish them." He picked up a slice and started to eat it. "Hey, these are pretty good!" He exclaimed and started to eat more of them. However, Lucas looked at Novah in confusion when he asked if he has the ability to fight. "Yeah, I'm able to fight. I thought I told you that yesterday?"

"Are you good at it?" she asked him shyly. "Like if someone wanted to learn do you think you could teach them?" The idea had just come to her when she saw him, being able to fight would be helpful to avenging Everestt. Novah was still a little torn between Kalora's kind words and the Mistress Healer's request to avenge the Prince. She wasn't exactly sure which path she would take but knowing how to fight would be a good distraction. It would also be aided by her knowledge of poisons. Novah knew that Lucas was looking for work so if she paid him maybe he would teach her.

Lucas looked at her strangely and sighed. "I guess I'm good at it. But, I don't think I'd be any good at teaching. When I fight, I seem to be fantastic when I'm in the moment, when tension is high, or I need to protect someone, the list goes on." Lucas sighed and took a good look at Novah and smirked. "Why? You interested in fighting?" He laughed. "But in all seriousness, I don't think I'd be a good teacher. But I am rather curious why?" He asked curiously.

("Why you interested in becoming a fighting?"....I r gud at grammer.... Note to self...Never teach grammar.... The horribleness has been fixed...)

"I don't know," she said not sure if she should tell him her plan, she only met him yesterday. "I guess I just thought it would be a good thing to know," she looked down at the ground. "It's alright though, I guess I'll just have to find someone else to teach me." She fidgeted a little smoothing out her skirt, "So how have things been with you? Did you meet anyone new or find any work?" Novah was a little disappointed but she was also very determined, she would find away. She smiled at Lucas hoping he wouldn't question things any further. He did know she was friends with the Prince but he had only arrived yesterday so he probably didn't know much more than that.

It was getting later in the day, just about dinner time. She knew that when it got dark most of the village would head to the beach to witness the Prince's funeral. She just needed to keep herself busy until then.

Lucas shook his head, "No, I haven't found any work. If this keeps up I'll be leaving this place in the next few days." Lucas sighed, he wanted to find work, but, obviously that wasn't working for him. "But, its no biggie I guess, that's also part of the reason why I don't want to teach you." He chuckled. He looked around and saw people walking into stores. He figured people would be buy things for the Prince to be respectful. He placed his hand to his head, feeling nauseous. "The Prince is dead because of you fool!!!" A voice appeared in his head. "If people find that out then you'll be like the scum on the bottom of shoes" The voice in his head haunted him.

Cerulean sighed and collected the tray, waiting patiently to be let out by the guards. He went back to the kitchen, faintly surprised to find it empty. It seemed that in his absence, the rest of the staff had also gone home. With little more than a frown, he began the preparations for the funeral banquet on his own. It would keep him plenty busy until it was time to go to the actual event. Pans of potatoes to peel, bread to bake, stews to put together- there was plenty to do to prepare the small feast of rich comfort food meant to make the Prince's closest friends and relatives feel better after a hard day. It was just him and his kitchen.

It was also just Azure and her forge. She pounded away at hot metal, sweating and working away her grief. She had a pile of work to do from her time spent at the castle, so she would be busy until she headed to the beach for the ceremony. The blonde female wasnt sad, as her brother was, she was angry. Angry that such a young, promising life was gone so soon.

"Leaving? Where will you go," she asked curiously. Novah had always been way too curious for her own good. "I've never been anywhere other than here. What are other places like?" She loved to here about new things, stories, and adventures. She noticed that he suddenly didn't look so good, "Are you alright?" she asked putting her hand on his shoulder. With her other hand she opened her pouch she always wore, it was filled with different potions mostly for healing different ailments but there were a few poisons in there as well. "If you tell me what's wrong I can probably help." She looked through the tiny bottles that she had painstakingly made herself, back at the healer's hut there were many more that were sold everyday but this was her own collection and she didn't mind using them to help someone in need.
