Realistic or Modern West View Highschool for the supernaturals

Mia waved her hand dismissively "Yes, I know who you are. I know almost everyone in that damn school" She shook her head slightly. She didn't mean to sound rude, though it was sort of who she was. "Skipping classes too then? Wonder how many other kids do the same thing. Can't blame them though, that place is worthless" She put her hands behind her head closing her eyes for a minute. Talking was helping it seemed, it averted her mind from those saddening memories. "And my name's Mia" She added dropping her hands back down to her sides. The cut was fully healed already and she tried to rub some of the blood off.

Kari's shoulders fell slightly at the girl's dismissive attitude. She didn't exactly talk to people from school very often, so this wasn't easy for her. "I skip school quite a lot, my grades haven't suffered badly yet so I guess it's alright" she shrugged, looking back up at Mia. "It's meant to be History now isn't it? I've never really seen the point of that subject" Kari said, hoping to establish some sort of conversation. She'd never been very good at socialising, she didn't have much to do with people if she could help it.

"Yeah, most of it's wrong anyway. I lived through almost all of it, I should know" Mia smiled slightly a rare thing for her. "You're still young, you should be enjoying life while you can" She said almost causing the memories to trigger again. Since Mia had died at a young age she was pretty much trapped that way for eternity. Or unless someone actually managed to kill her again. That wasn't likely though, she was too skilled and strong. She'd survived this long anyway, she'd survive another millennia maybe. Unless she killed herself first. Of course the thought had crossed her mind several times. She'd made a promise though and she wouldn't break it.

"Being immortal must be cool, us mortals have to watch our backs and try not to waste our precious time here" Kari said, she had often thought of how much easier things would be for her if she were not human. Her Black Magic would never shorten her lifespan again for example, not that she /wanted/ to kill again but if she had to it would be nice not to lose that time. "I suppose it must suck too though, more time for crap to happen to you I guess" she added, thinking of how her life had gone so far. There'd been good bits, of course, but a lot of bad too.

"Having immortality is the last thing I would have wanted." Mia shook her head. "If it weren't for that though...I wouldn't have these beautiful memories. Even if they are outnumbered by bad ones" She smiled and her expression went soft. She leaned up against the brick wall closing her eyes for a moment. For a bit she looked the way she had once when her life was better, before everything was stolen away from her. "So I guess it does have it's good and bad perks. Though for me bad always outnumbers the good" Mia told Kari. The girl had earned her respect, something few people had ever earned.

"I'm afraid bad outnumbering good isn't solely reserved for immortals" Kari shook her head slightly "Still not having to worry so much about being eaten or stabbed sounds like a great perk of immortality to me". At least she had her powers to rely on, without those she would have been long since dead. Even though they'd gotten her into trouble a lot, they always got her out again.

"Mm well with my kind and our immortality you can still feel pain." Mia told her. "Immortality differs between races, dragons have weak points, elves are more human than immortal" She gave some examples from when she was first reborn as a dark angel. Most didn't know of this anymore because her time was known as the Forgotten Time amongst the dark angels and angels. "Though you could always become a dark angel or angel after you die you know? I was once mortal just like any other human"

"Yeah well I'm not exactly expecting to go to the Penthouse in the afterlife" Kari said weakly, giving a small shrug. She didn't really know much about Angels or Dark Angels. She knew she didn't deserve Heaven though, she didn't think she was a good person. Certainly not good enough to go to Heaven. "Still, I have my magic" Kari held out her hand, focusing "Lux" she murmured and a ball of light appeared floating just above her palm.

Mia took a step back when she saw the ball of light. "It's neat. Is light magic the only kind you can do?" She asked. Being a dark angel, light magic was about the only magic that could seriously injure them. It was also one of the only things that really scared her. "Like dark magic for instance?" She smiled.

Kari was completely unaware that her simple spell that she used when she couldn't find a lightswitch was of a threat to the girl she was with. At her alarm though she immediately cast the spell to get rid of the light. "Exstinguo" she murmured and the ball of light vanished. Kari lowered her hand and shook her head, a tad wary of this line of questioning. "I can cast most general types of magic, I'm not particularly good at any one of them though" she shrugged, that was a lie of course but she wasn't going to tell the truth. She didn't want anyone knowing about her speciality, it didn't exactly get good press.

Mia nodded. "I suppose an overall use of general magic is good. Gives you more of a variety. Dark magic is helpful but I can't fix everything with it" She relaxed a bit after the light was gone. "Well, I shouldn't bother you any more. I'm sure you have better things to do than talk with me." She said. Mia didn't like burdening people with her dark moodiness. Most people that knew who she was were afraid of her so she didn't usually try to make friends.

"Um not really" Kari admitted, repeating her habit of pushing her hair over to one side. She assumed that Mia didn't like her or didn't want anything much to do with her, people generally didn't seem to like her much. Her general distrust of people really didn't do much to help that. Kari looked down and shrugged. "If you need to get going or want to go, don't feel like you can't on my account"

Mia noticed the girl seemed a bit disappointed. "I just need some time to myself, I've been reminded of something that happened a while ago. I just..." She sighed smiling. "It's silly really being as old as I am but that idiot Patrick always has to try and ruin my day" She told her. "I'm sure you know how that is" She didn't want Kari to think she didn't like her.

"Guys can be like that" Kari managed a smile, she didn't know if she did know how it was. Her previous boy troubles had hardly been ordinary and had ended far worse than most relationships had. He could be something else to Mia entirely, still feigning understanding seemed like the best option. Kari nodded "Well, I hope your day improves, Mia" she took a step back and looked around, the streets were just as busy as before unsurprisingly although she didn't feel like returning to her spot in the alleyway. She'd find something else to do.

"Ah unfortunately for me, this is almost every day for me" Mia sighed. "I hope I see you again Kari. If you need help with anything I'd be willing to." She continued down the sidewalk to the park. She didn't have an actual house or apartment like other people. She lived in the woods, that was her home. Sleeping in nature, being able to see the stars, or as many as you could with those city lights. Mia had always stayed in the forests throughout her eternity. Once she was settled on the thick branch of a tree she stopped trying to keep her composure. She started crying and hugged her knees to her chest. She hated this, hated crying, even if no one was around.

Kari watched Mia leave, smiling slightly. That hadn't gone nearly as badly as she had expected. Soon Mia was out of sight and Kari returned to wondering what she should do now. There was always school but that held far less appeal to her than skipping for the day. Going home was fairly boring too and there was always the risk that her father might actually be home for once. Kari decided to just wonder around town instead and see where she ended up, she entered the jostling throng of people, trying her best to keep her head above water as it were. She soon gave up and murmured "Contego", a small invisible barrier surrounded her, protecting her from being barged into constantly.

Kari blinked and looked at the girl that had nearly ran into her, immediately forgetting about the spell she'd cast and the fact that it was still acting as a barrier around her. It wasn't overly friendly but she'd merely forgot.

"Hello..." Kari said quietly, not really sure why someone was talking to her but she didn't want to be rude so she smiled slightly.

"I'm so sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going," Adairia apologized, "I'm Adairia...you can call me Dair, though," She smiled.

"It's okay, really" Kari smiled. "No harm done. I'm Kari..." she added, toying with the leather cuffs on her wrists. Dair didn't seem like a threat in any way, in fact she'd done nothing to indicate she was anything but a nice person, but Kari had problems trusting anyone. She generally thought the worst of people and reminded herself of her past when she started to think otherwise.

"Those are cool," Dair nodded towards Kari's leather cuffs, "Where did you get them?"

Dair being new in town, hoped to befriend Kari.

"Just a shop, nothing special really although they had some other cool stuff... Oh I got my tragus done there" Kari shrugged, she should probably go again some time. Maybe she'd get a lip piercing or something, although she thought it might feel weird having something alien like that in her mouth. She should probably try wearing fake ones and see how that felt.

"Cool! Could you show me it?" Dair asked hopefully, "I have no clue where any thing is," she laughed lightly, glancing around them at the busy shops.

Kari paused, biting her lower lip in embarrassment. "Um my tragus or the shop?..." she asked quietly, feeling her cheeks heat up a bit. Dair seemed nice and it made her feel a bit uncomfortable anyway, she wanted to like the girl but she was reluctant to. Kari didn't want to get hurt or betrayed again by anyone, she'd barely survived the last time.

Dair's cheeks flushed red.

"The shop," she replied quickly, "Sorry for any confusion,"

She laughed nervously. She hoped Kari would say yes. Kari seemed like she would make a great friend, even though she seemed reluctant to let her in.
