farewell
thou mayest
With the groceries away Vinaya leaned against the counter and watched the proceedings. To her, their borderline paranoia was irrational, but for once, she decided to let it go. They were permitted some leeway, since they'd only just escaped, but if they were ever going to make a proper, comfortable life for themselves outside of the orphanage, they were going to have to stop worrying so much. As for Nico and Aspen, it didn't matter to her what they did independently from the group, in their own personal time - as long as they weren't getting caught by the cops, anyway. She didn't blame Aspen for leaving and didn't protest when he did so, since an individual was far less suspicious than a group. She was, however, a little irritated with Nico's behavior, but found no reason to say anything. For all her stubborn practicality, she could also be patient. She wanted to be sympathetic as well, but couldn't find it in her; it seemed such a trivial thing to get worked up over, but Vinaya realized that the way she saw things was very different from the way others, namely Nico, saw things. Foolishly, she also found herself a little resentful of whatever iPod or phone she was listening to music with. Devices like those were rare commodities to Vinaya; she'd never even come close to owning either of them. Or anything material, for that matter. Which was why being handed a walkie talkie surprised her. But it was clever, and she thanked Tommy and Xavier for it before trying to figure out how it worked, tuning out Tommy and Nico's conversation.
