The Old World; a land of strife, danger and constant warfare. The Empire of Man sits in the center of the Old World, beset on all sides by vicious foes. The savage Greenskins in the southern badlands, the barbaric tribes of Chaos raiding the northern territories, the Vampire Counts lingering in eastern Sylvania, and the illusive rat like Skaven underneath the Empire itself.

Rules

  • Basic RPnation rules obviously apply here. No godmodding, try not to be OP, you know the drill (Hopefully).
  • As this is a detailed roleplay, I will be enforcing a two paragraph minimum. Put a little love and effort into your posts, it's frustrating to try and RP with someone who seems to not even care. There are plenty of casual RPs on this site if you're not prepared to sink any time into this.
  • Proper grammar is a must. Look, I understand that everyone makes mistakes, and English may not be your first language; that I can forgive. What I'm not willing to put up with, is trudging through sentences that look like they've been written by a two year old.
  • If you are unfamiliar with the Warhammer lore, I won't bring the hammer down on you too hard. While lore accurate characters are appreciated, what I'm really looking for is quality writing.
  • I will not be playing a character myself, instead I'll be taking over the role as the GM of sorts. While this is a purely narrative driven RP (no dice), I will be acting as the various NPC's and enemies you're sure to run into. I will be the weaver of fates, the lives of your characters will be mine to toy with *insert evil laugh here*.
  • You will be allowed a maximum of two posts in between my posts. Once I post, you will be permitted to post again.
  • All potential players must create a character via the character sign up tab. If I like your post, it means you've been accepted.
  • This is a hardcore roleplay. This means that, at any point in time, your character may be killed off by me, without your consent. Now I'm not going to abuse this, but if you do something stupid like charge a horde of zombies all by yourself, you're going to die. By signing up for this RP, you are giving the GM (that's me) permission to kill your character.
  • If it's not on your character sheet, your character doesn't have it. Be thorough with your equipment section, your character isn't going to be able to magically grab any item from their saddlebags at a moments notice.
  • Please, don't sign up for this RP if you aren't going to stick around. I want dedicated players who will post regularly, or at least semi-regularly. If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, let me know. If you don't, your character will be killed off or abandoned.
  • All players must write 'Signed' in the OCC chat to let me know you've read the rules. I will not accept your character until you've done this.

Do not post here yet.

This pretty much goes without saying, but I will make the opening post once I feel we have enough players.

A deep fog rolls through the cracks of the foliage encircling the dirt trail below. The gnarled branches act like bony fingers, covering the sky so that only small pockets of the setting sun's light could reach the ground. The faint sound of the horse's hooves pulling your chariot was all that broke through the eerie silence.

It was strange, the typical sounds of the forest seem nothing more than a distant memory; death was in the air. Several weeks of long travel has put your party a mere days ride from Castle Stonehaven, where your quarry lies. The rumors circulating this place was troubling at best; though it was known that the cursed lands of Sylvania was crawling with the dead, the rumors of them spilling over to Stirland was troubling.

The winds of magic were thick here, even the air you breath would sting your lungs. There was without question a certain malice in the air.

Arthric sat resting his hand on the pommel of his blade, the sheathed sword standing upright in the chariot. He grunted, and readjusted his shoulder pads. He fished out the hammer of Sigmar amulet from his utility pocket, and clenched it in his fist, giving a quick prayer to Sigmar, murmuring for the passage to hell be a swift one for those who would cross his blade this day.

He looked up from the silence that enfolded the three mercanaries, drawing a few painful breaths from the cursed air their quarry hid in.

"This forsaken place reeks."

Aleandros silently winced in pain from the occasional sting of the air. "No shit, even the air's killing us..." He groans and clutches his chest. "Mind asking sigmar to keep our damned lungs safe and comfortable?" He joked and looked out into the forest. As he did, shivers slid down his spine, the eerie forest played with his eyes, giving him visions of slaanesh demons watching them. At the thought, he immediately looked back inside and took a deep breath, wincing again from the sting.

"I wonder how well our prey can hide.." He chuckled.

"Maybe you should both just stop breathing." Pall responded to their complaints as she leaned over the side of the chariot. She watched the scenery pass her, as she had been almost the entire trip; she has rarely spoken, and pretty much all of her comments had been sharp-ended towards her two accomplices.

The winds were strong around her, and she felt it absorbing into her, passing through her, and empowering her... she saw a small animal skipping along as they rode by, and she glanced back to see if either of the two armored men were watching - they probably couldn't see anything underneath all that armor.

Pall took aim with her pointer finger, inhaled slightly, and made a quiet 'pow' sound as she shot a small cannonball out in the direction of the animal using Penumbral Pendulum, hoping to at least entertain herself for a second.

Sighing, he continued giving his daily prayers to Sigmar, a little louder than before.

"And may you please silence this harlot for her own good, lest she find herself in a inescapable situation which she has woven herself into with her words. Glory to the empire."

He put the amulet back into his pocket and straightened his back. Knocking on the wooden backing he was leaning on, he yelled to the driver,

"Have we reached our destination?! My sword thirsts for the blood of our prey!" He wouldn't be able to listen to these two for much longer. He leaned back into his sword again, swaying with the movement of the chariot, and feeling the winds of Sylvania continue to blow through his armor, the smell of the rotting undead permeating the air.

Aleandros gulped as he saw the mage kill the poor animal, after insulting him. He then tried his best to keep quiet for the rest of the ride.

Aleandros was almost asleep when the chariot swayed from his companions movement. He sighed and slowly swung his sword infront of him, examining it and thinking of their prey. What would it be? Who would it be? Who do they worship?

Some of these questions might not be answered, but Aleandros wondered nonetheless.

The tiny squirrel is decimated by Pall's magical attack, being reduced to nothing but a small red stain in the dirt. Nothing remained, not even a measly scrap of meat that would feed even the most desperate of beggars. The driver pokes his old, wizened head out from his coach, his faded blue eyes locking with the armored mercenary.

"Patience, ser Arthric. We will arrive when the Emperor wills it, no later nor sooner." He returns to his seated position, before something on the road ahead catches his aging eyes.

"On alert, we have a man up ahead!" The driver calls out.

The old man's words rang true, as a figure emerges from the shadows ahead. He was a middle aged man, clearly of common birth if his rags were anything to go off of. he sported a straggly brown beard, with shades of grey; he appeared to be unarmed, though he seemed to be relying on a walking stick to aid his labored steps. Dirty bandages ensnared his right arm and both of his legs.

Served that squirrel right, being out in the open like that, probably wouldn't have lasted a winter. Once the animal was gone, she noticed a bit of lip from the praying knight, but chose not to respond; the gods were real, there was no disputing that, but that didn't mean people were immune to becoming crazy zealots.

"Lunatic." Pall muttered under her breath, into the wind, and underneath her hood. This chariot was too small, and his sword was too long to wana start something, so she kept her insult to a whisper.

Not shortly after, the driver told them all that there was a person up ahead, which sprung the thought: 'who cares?' The driver could just run them down if they got in the way, which is something Pall wanted to see. The short female tightened her grip on the chariots side, and stuck her head & upper torso out just enough to see the path ahead. Even with the wind blowing and screaming in her face, she couldn't help but brush her bangs to the right.

"The Emperor doesn't care! Keep going!" Pall urged the driver over the sounds of the marching horses, the howling wind, and the thundering earth beneath them. She was already able to tell from her current distance that this guy was gross, definitely not important to her journey at all, just another background face.

Aleandros was appalled by Palls actions. "Are you crazy? By Sigmar, what's wrong with you? Stop the chariot and check on the poor sod!" Aleandros called to the driver after stating that he was dazed by Palls remarks. Observing the strange man, he noticed the injuries. But his confusion of Palls wants, how could an imperial citizen wish harm upon another. This wasn't want Sigmar wanted, humans wishing to see the blood of fellow humans.

"Pah! Run him down! Nothing in this land is alive anyways!" Clearly, if somebody was to stand in front of a chariot and not expect to get run over, they must've stepped into some fairy tale land where everyone and everything is nice. No, this isn't the time or place for someone to interuppt a important role for protecting the Empire.

Upon the Alejandro's cry, he simply waited in the cart, letting the bulkier knight jump out, the cart groaning after his weight left. "Finally. One less mouth to jabber." Realizing how hypocritical he was about to sound, he asked the rogue, "So... What brings you here anyways? I'm going to guess it isn't the rations, because you would've ran like the others."

"And get hunted by like others."
He pointed at a few sigils on his armor, house signs he had taken from fallen knights, who became beggars during these hard times.

Pall pulled herself back into the chariot after a few moments, and sat herself back in her seat. She brushed her hair to the side with a strained huff, and shot a glance over to the armored lunatic who, who seemed to want to get social with her, all of a sudden.

"We're mercenaries, remember...? At least I am." Pall responded with a fair amount of sass, as if the two were enemies, and like talking to him was similar to pulling teeth, "I'm coming out here to get paid." she added, and pointed to herself.

Pall had to admit, it was comforting to know she was sent out with two armored, well-equipped meat-shields and glory-sponges; they can do all the work, get all the cuts & infections, while Pall got one third of the pay - maybe two thirds if one of them dies on the way back.

@Surprise Meteors

The driver looked back, unsure and slightly horrified at the lack of concern for human life. He would rather avoid running down a helpless man in the middle of the road. Aleandros' pleads only served to further his convictions. Bringing the chariot to a halt, the man ahead makes his way towards the party as quickly as his injured body could handle.

"Ho there! Please, I beg of you, you must help me!" He addresses no one in particular, his voice clearly strained by exhaustion.

"Gosh, why're you such a-" Stopping himself, he took a deep breath, and walked out without a word. Stepping into the Sylvanian air, he did his best to breath in short bursts and to keep his wits about him. His boots sunk into the mud, and flies kept circling around his head. Guess there wasn't much for them to do anyway.

"Aleanandros! Get out here!" He walked up to the scruffy man, examining his entire character before deciding to talk to him. "Why did you decide you wanted to talk to our cab? This easily been a chariot of theives." He unsheathed his sword, and warily checked the terrain for ambushers. He prepared for an unseen attack, as was normal for him.

"Where are your accomplices!? I can end your miserable life right here!" He twitched, his paranoia getting the better of him in these unfamiliar lands.
