Fantasy War of The Three Kings

Gideon had gone back into town after his break, he was on his way to the castle so that he could speak to the prince. Gideon was going to see if the prince wanted to go for a ride through the land with him. Gideon was casual and slow in his walking, taking his time. One of his guards saw Amanda and recognized her. He got the attention of the two others beside him and they moved over to Amanda. "You need to come with us." One of them said. They weren't threatening at all, being warned beforehand about Amanda. Another patrol caught sight of the scene and decided to stay back but observe just in case.

The soldiers, fatigued and worn moved relentlessly through the night, still several leagues from even entering Lord Vestan's borders. The constant clatter of hoofs soon grew weary, some of the soldiers had even fallen asleep, hunched over the beasts. Ten men escorted this carriage, only ten, Jason had at least hoped to have three times this amount, the thought upset him, and as it appeared, Zachary as well. Clearly lost in thought, a slight frown scathed its way onto his face.

Yes, Jason could feel it, something about the night was unsettling him, the silence in the air, the wind gently rustling through the trees of the mid-part of Cassius' kingdom. And then... it appeared, over the horizon, the pointed slope to reveal the border between the nations, a massive mountain range, isolating Vestan's land. With a subtle nod to Zachary they kept onward, the two brothers-in-arms reading the thoughts of the other, understanding entirely what the small gesture had meant.

Zachary sighed, the elder knight had still had more taxing tolls on his body from the fight than anyone else, the horse was still carrying him however, determined to carry its master high upon its back. The hills and forest-like area had a gentle roll to them, it was, soothing in a way. Zachary had been used to war torn battlefields, stone walls, blood soaked beaches. No, but now, he was seeing beauty, even after the assault, the majestic landscape overloading his heart with a euphoria of emotion. The pleasantry took him back to his days when he was younger, a lad, barely even able to sport his first chest hair, how ambitious he had been. Youthful days, out in the yard, running errands, then there was, that farm girl. Oh with hair as sweet as chocolate, and eyes as blue beyond the great seas themselves, he had fallen in love. With a gently smile and the collapsing of his eyelids, he saw her face, the woman he would one day have married.

Unfortunately, she was taken, by the High-King's men. And, over time, the desperate rage came over him to recover the girl, to love her as he had once loved, to let her remain untainted by the vileness of the soldiers. And, those five years ago, he exacted revenge, the cold steel piercing that man's heart. He could feel the sweetness of the blood running to his arms and to his body. Only to later find that the one he loved would no longer meet him in the realm of the living.

Jason had known Zachary's tale, and with a gentle nudge of his heel, rode up alongside his superior, clearing his throat before speaking gently,

"I know how much she meant to you."

"What, how could you possibly-" He stammered

"You make the same face every time. You were justified in your actions, and she waits for you one day. Never forget that." He replied, a comforting tone rolling from his tongue as the serenity of his words soothed the general.

"You'll make a fine general one day lad..." Zachary sighed with relief. Jason's face, still lit up with a slight smile on it responded in the most respectful and formal way he knew how, "Thank you... Sir."

Two days ride still lay before them as they reached the mountain pass. And on a command, Zachary halted every man,

"Make camp here tonight, we rest."

And it was there, at the base of the mountain that they would sleep, tents going up as they began to prepare food and get a nightly story going around the fire. These were the nights that a knight would spend, Jason even removed his armor at this point, joining his brothers in a cloak and regular cloth, fine for his armor yet average in general appearance. They would raised their mugs, feast on meats and pass stories for that night until the last man had fallen to rest. Once so, a scout moved to a tree to watch over the camp, out of sight and able to see everything, patiently waiting for the sun to raise. Jason rested his head gently on his fur covered cot in his tent. The gentle flickering light of the campfire still going strong, as some of the sleeping guards were woken for camp patrol.

Christopher stared at her with an absolute blank expression for a few minutes. He had allowed his thoughts to wander of her origin. What kingdom was she from? How did she get here? Where was she headed? Just as he was about to speak, he caught sight of her nervous behavior with each passing guard, an anxious look seen in her gaze. Blowing his breath lightly, Christopher released her reluctantly.

It had been quite awhile since he'd had any contact with a female aside from those in the castle, and of course, seeing the same people each day of your life, gets dreadfully boring. Rolling his irises, Christopher folded his arm over the other across his still bare chest, the coldness of the air neglecting to falter his emotions and body temperature. "Well..." Christopher took a moment to look her over once again, before allowing for his eyelids to shut in his irises, just as a small breeze picked up and blew at his hair. "..if you must go, I won't keep you."

Her finger precisely holding the back of the arrow until it was released. Like the wind, far it went and very fast before it hit the target. The arrow struck its victim, in between its fluffy ears, when the blood begun to stain the rabbit's white fur.

Elmina let out a deep sigh, touching Syn so he move forward, of course collecting the furry rabbit. Slowly, her body emerged down from Syn's back and her feet touched the snow. Her footsteps were precise, being careful not to ruin her leather boots. Finally reaching by a tree, Elmina's hand reached for the dead rabbit and picked it up, looking at it with sadness In her eyes. Then she removed the arrow, with a wince from her part as the blood stained the pure white snow.

Her body now stood up, holding the rabbit in her left hand letting her eyes to lay upon the snowy- frosty land once again. However, the rabbit got tied up on the other side of the horse, while Elmina pushed herself up on the back of Syn.

" Well, I guess it's time to go home now. I have some archery lessons and then need to eat something. I am starving Syn.. "

The horse nudged at her, before beginning to gallop towards the outskirts of the forest and heading back to the castle grounds. All this time Elmina let her eyes to look at the skies, praying to the Gods that someday, this never ending war will actually End.

Only if she could find a way.

Elmina returned to the castle, kissing Syn on his cold nose and instructed the servants what to with the rabbit. Her cloak was given away to one of her maids, when her footsteps were heard inside her home. Finally reaching the kitchen area, Elmina took a seat at the dirty table, despite the servants protests in not doing so. She loved to eat with normal people, even if she was a Princess more or less.

Elmina finished her day by eating with the servants, laughing around, trying to forget for a moment that she was who she was, the daughter of Vastan.

The Next day-

Amanda turned her head hearing the Guard's telling her she had to come with them. She froze, oh god what had she done. She moved closer to the basically naked man she ran into."I um.... well." She was not sure. She didn't want to go with the guard's and she didn't want to be near this man. She how ever rather be with him then go to a jail cell with the guards.

"Why? I swear I haven't done anything wrong." She said to them as she half hid behind Christian. She bit her lower lip and watched the guards her body still shook. She still wasn't use to any of this.

The carriage pulled up to the mountain the woman were stopped when they saw the soldiers. Ada put her hand on Justine to tell her to stop and wait. They would not let there mission be known to the soldiers they seemed to be going the same direction. Ada looked out as the men told her and Justine to get out. Her dark hair and blue eye's showed as she got out and pulled her hood down."were traveling to the Northern kingdom to grab a beautiful and rare flower that belongs to our family." Ada said her head held high.

The sun peeked from the eastern horizon, the whitened snow of the mountain had blanketed their camp, and the soldiers began to strip it down, and started packing it in travel sizes, sliding it onto the saddles of their horses. After a rejuvenating breakfast, they began to ride off once more, their stamina refilled, moving at a much quicker pace until...

~

The elevated air was thin, sharp, and cold, biting through their armor and cloaks as the horses began to waver in their steps, one had already fallen dead, smashing its rider underneath him. The even smaller traveling group encountered a band of what appeared to be merchants, or... entertainers? They were not certain, yet, amid the raging blizzard Zachary spoke, "See here, this pass is dangerous and we've little men. Shall we travel together?" He had to be careful when he spoke, or else he risked the gusts to strip them away.

One of the guards spoke, "Gideon requires you at the barracks. Please allow us to escort you." One of the others moved forward and held out his hand towards her. "You need to come alone. We best not keep him waiting." The other insisted. Gideon was already approaching the courtyard, seeing his guards and Christian. He shouted towards his guards, "Quit waiting around and find her!!! It is only a matter of time before those damn gypsies come here and make trouble!" Gideon warned them. He didn't see Amanda because she was hiding behind Christian and the guards were in the way. He stood there at the entrance to the courtyard, waiting.

Christopher raised his brow. The guards were aggravating him, and frightening his new toy. Gritting his teeth, Christopher prepared to make a demand, well, order, well up until he heard Gideon speak. Immediately, he caught on.

The girl behind him was the gypsy. Hm. Christopher wasnt surprised in the slightest, nor did he feel like playing hero. Considering the fact Gideon, was looking for her as well, would only mean she was the thing he had to take care of. Yawning, Christopher turned slightly to face the girl behind him, only to pull her out and drag her behind him towards Gideon, speaking as he did so. "Gideon, I order this woman's protection. You, as well as the guards, will station her in my room and place men on posts. Got it? No excuses, no explanations. Do as I say, and meet me by the stables, we will discuss it then."

(Sorry nap time. And been watching 3rd hobbit woot)

Amanda squeaked and jumped as he grabbed her bad wrist. She grimaced at his grip, wait what? He wanted to protect her but why she was just some gypsy girl. She tried to get his finger off her delicate wrist. She shivered slightly were these men insane. She was starting to freak out on the inside. When the Guard's took her into her grasp her training kicked in it was more a reflex of being afraid of guards then the actual act of being protected. The two guards started to walk her away. She stopped dead in her tracks. The guard on her right went to pick her up. She brought her knee to his face. He dropped her hand to hold his face in surprise. The other guard went to grab her and she moved so she had him her knife to his throat. She looked for an escape as she backed towards the entrance to the court yard she shook her head at both of the men. It was more of a sorry and a plea to let her go. She moved back and pushed the guard into the two men and ran. She ran from them holding her arm and close as she just kept running. She skid to a halt at the town exit, there was no escape for her. She was surrounded and there was no way out. A guard grabbed her and brought her back. They knelt her in front of Giedon and Christopher. Her arms behind her back her head pulled back a sword to it. She looked up definitely,"I am not some gypsy girl who needs to be hidden away" A sword smacked against her throat."watch how you speak to the prince." A guard said and pulled her back a bit. She let out a small gasp of pain.

Ada looked at him then at justine. The girl looked at her with a slight shrug. She nods "we will travel with you then." She said. She waves to her driver to get down. "Are you and your men okay with supplies. Do you need anything?" Ada asked. Her demeanor did not match those of the gypsies ada use to be royalty but she chose the gypsy life and she would take back what belonged to Vance. Ada was the one they sent when things needed to be handled by a woman not a man.

"My lord I will take care of this all" Gideon spoke calmly. He slugged the guard in the face for harming Amanda, knocking him out cold instantly. He took Amanda gently and helped her stand. "I had no intention of hiding you away. I just wanted an audience. My men will not harm you at all. I cannot say the same for Christopher's men though." Gideon spoke calmly to her. He turned and removed his helmet, glaring at the prince. "With respect, you have no authority as to the handling of the local guards. Your father put me in that position and I tend to keep it that way. I am also contemplating the idea of informing him that you interfered with a personal escort. It was very much needed that Amanda be calm and unharmed while she talked with me. Seeing as how that is not a possibility with you I will take her else where. Because of our past together my lord I will not inform your father of the events that have taken place." Gideon did not let the prince respond.

He gently and calmly led Amanda away, "You are more than just some gypsy girl, but you need to be compliant. My men were just making sure you got to me safely. They acted rashly due to the prince's orders and I apologize for that." He explained to her. Gideon was now near the edge of the town with Amanda. The entire time he was barely touching her and he stepped away from her once they were on the road that was unguarded. There was no one near so it was just Gideon and Amanda. "Can we talk? Or are you going to try to run again?" He asked her. "From what I've been told there are some bad people on their way here. So you have two options. You stay and talk with me, or you run and die. These options have nothing to do with how capable you are as a fighter or as a person. These are just facts." He leaned against a tree and waited for her to answer. Gideon dropped his hatchet by Amanda's feet. "That will buy you a few more minutes of life if you want to go down in a blaze of glory. If not, return it to me so that I know you will not try to run again." He waited patiently.

Christopher said nothing. As much as he wanted to fuss with Gideon, his father had taught him better. 'The best way to argue with a man is on the battlefield.' Growling, Christopher shifted his gaze towards the knocked out guards. Disgusted, he shook his head. "Tsk. Idiots."

Christopher soon brought his gaze uo to Gideon, a slight smirk wiping at his lips once Gideon spoke of their past. Having no time to reply due to Gideon taking the girl off, Christopher cracked his knuckles. "Oh Gideon, always telling me what to do when you arent my father." Rolling his irises, Christopher shifted his gaze towards the stables. He had things to do, other than care for once. Shaking his head, Christopher accepted his clothing from the surprised maids standing bshind him, stopping to put them on.

After tying up the laces to his shoes, Christopher stepped forward , waving his hand to dismiss the maids from his side. Upon reaching the entrance to the stables, he stood still awaiting for his horse, Phyx , to be brought out.

The knights took a generous nod, Zachary spoke the total of their thoughts, "We're starving, in dire need of food and heat." Even the wolf cloak around them would not keep them warm. "If it isn't too much to ask..."

Jason sat on his horse, the snowy wind flowing his hair to the side, his blue eyes cutting through the heavy air, his mind would not permit him to so easily trust these band of... whoever they were. The men would make it, there was no real comfort in the life of a knight, it was made to strengthen resolve, increase their endurance. Instead, the men behind Zachary bumbled and yelped like injured dogs, yes, that's what they were, dogs. The cold air had left his nose rosy red, his cheeks were paler than ice, his brows even collected powdery snow.

Amanda walked with him her arms around her body as she shook from the cold. He told her she needed to be compliant. She lifted her eyebrow. His men in her mind were making no such thing. She did bot need 3 to escort her. She would of killed that guard and she be in trouble. When he stepped away she stepped back with a fire burning in her eyes. She watched him her breath clinging in the air. She held a hand over her mouth and nose to even try and remotely get warm. When he dropped his hatchet she gave him a look to say what in the hell is that for."I am not yours to command. You dropped it you can retrieve it yourself." She wasn't running any where she also wasn't going to pick it up if she did she pocket it for when she needed it."unless you wish me to pocket it. Then I must thank you for the hatchet." She said. She kept a dagger hidden under her cloak, just in case he decided he like to kill her for her insolence.

Ada nods to the girl and her driver to give the men blankets and food. They had killed a elk on the way. She kept her white cloak around her. Dagger hidden in her boot just in case."Killed it not to long ago. All you need to do is cook the meat." Ada said her head held high still. She nods to Justine and Sylus go cook it for the men. The gypsies had cloaks that kept them warm. She pulled her hood up again to stay off the chill. Her nose and cheeks were read with the cold. She nods to Zachary."why doust thou head to the north?" She asked him her arms gently around her to keep her warm the cloak did most of that. She didn't truly trust these men then again why should the men trust gypsies. She did not come off as one. That's why most of the time she was sent.

Gideon took his hatchet. "That dagger you have hidden won't do you any good. And if you keep taking things personally then you will get your head lopped off. You aren't the toughest thing around, remember that. If you are going to act like this then you can go ahead and be with the prince who wants to jump your bones. If not then you better adjust how you treat others." He put his hatchet away and gestured for her to follow. "Come on let us get you warmed up." Gideon began walking down the path towards his home. He was letting Amanda slide with way too much, and eventually he would strike the woman if she kept giving him lip for trying to be decent to her.

Amanda put the dagger in her boot. She followed him cautiously, she was use to threats of her head being cut off. She followed him to his place. She waited outside the door till he invited her in. When he invited her in she pulled her hood down and looked around. She shivered and raised her eyebrows.

" very tidy." She said. She wasn't use to clean spaces. She liked her clutter mess,"sorry trusting people isn't what I do especially people who want to help me." She said. She was still shivering, why the hell is it so cold up here." She asked him. Her eye's kept looking around. Her cheeks and nose were red from the cold.

Gideon chuckled, "It is cold here because that is simply how it is." He lit the fire in the fire place. The heat seemed to spread fast through out the entire house. He began cooking a soup, letting it slow cook. Gideon went into his room and tossed Amanda his blanket, "Use that until it gets warmer." He said. "Those people are coming for you y'know. I can stop them, but only if you allow me to.... Will you allow me to save your life again?" Gideon asked her. He didn't know why, but he was starting to care for Amanda. Not in the intensity that Christopher had though. He was growing feelings for her yes, but he would go about it in a much more respectable way.

The good men of Cassius were no prejudices towards gypsies and were taught to see all as equal, Zachary of course, had no idea of her insecurity and hostility. "We head north bearing gifts to Lord Vestan IV, the bring peace between the lands, and to hopefully gather his aid in assaulting the southern lands. The rebels and all."

The men began to eat the meat, devouring it as quickly as possible before re-mounting their horses, ready to continue off into the freezing cold. Jason however was rather reluctant, the free food, the kindness shown, they had not yet delivered the gift, as far as he was sure, Lord Vestan's men could just as easily wipe them off the face of the earth. However, they were heading in the same direction, an odd turn of events, perhaps assassins!? No, Zachary seemed to trust them, and the old man had a good eye for people, reassuring himself of this, he assumed position on his horse and began traveling through the mountain range.

Amanda took the blanket and thanked him. She sat in a chair and curled up under the blanket. She kept her nose covered as she shivered slightly. When she got warmer she relaxed into the chair."May I ask why your so keen on helping the gypsy girl? Not trying to be argumentative by any means just curious." She said. She was getting more comfortable around him. She watched him still with fiery eye's.

Ada nods"I see we have a few extra cloaks for those in dire need."she said." The North is a cold place been there a few times. Not very fun,but it is good to make peace."she said. She nods to them."Need anything more, this is Sylus and Justine. I am Lady Ada please feel free to ask if you need anything." She said. She moved Justine back towards the carriage.

"Ever since I earned my position next to the king as his right hand man I have done all I could to ban slavery of any kind. I have made it law in this land that no one can own another person. You have a right to be your own woman, lead your own life, and do as you choose to do. Unless of course it breaks the law." Gideon added that last part with a chuckle. "I also enjoy you very much. You have a fire that I have never seen anyone hold in their eyes while dealing with me. They either fear me or hide away that fire you have in your eyes. I won't lie, it is attractive to see a gypsy woman stand up to me the way you do." He smirked. "You are the toughest person I have ever seen." Gideon spoke honestly to Amanda. He didn't know whether or not she could see, but he felt true to what he was saying. He wouldn't try to charm her or anything, mostly because if she were to like him it would be on her own accord.

The knights continued onward toward the city, no further questions asked. There wasn't much to be done, other than the gentle rustling of the cold air.

And soon, after several hours, the mighty horses strode from their mountain, proud and tall, except, down another, with little men left, the band had become discontent and rather edgy. They weren't too keen on these gypsies anymore, as they had been told, accompanying them. The men all in their fur cloaks and bright, white-steel clattered onto the snow covered cobblestone. Making a good deal of progress, the carriage moving along ever so well, until, it happened. The awful sound that signified a slow at pace in their travel.

SNAP!

As Jason turned to assess the damage, he and the other men began to repair the wheel, and whatever was in that carriage was heavy, however many riches it had, there were many of them. With diligent hands, they soon had constructed a new wheel, re-aligning the iron on it and hammering the nails back in.

Things had seemed good up until now, and then, much like the misfortune that seemed to linger around success, a javelin was hurled from the tree-line, striking a fellow knight right aside Jason, he fell dead. "White Fangs! Everyone cover up! Protect the supplies with your life!" Zachary ordered, stepping off of his horse and readied his lance and shield. "Gypsy... If you can fight, I'd advise you to do so... We could use the help..." He muttered to the woman who had introduced herself as Ada.

Ada got out of the carriage with Justine and Sylus. She nods to them "grab the weapons and arm up." She told them. She grabbed her bone white bow and arrows. She looked at Zach were with you." She said. They got there trunks out and cut the horses loose. The gypsies new how to fight, it was all they knew how to do really.

Amanda watched him closely, she listened to him explain and nods."It's not technically slavery, were a family of sorts. Were not perfect, but we take care of each other. Vance is the head of the family. He never comes to retrieve any one including his deadly flower. His prize possession he sends ada for that. I don't mind ada. As for the honest living, only honest living I know is dancing, other then that,I steal, lie and cheat to feed the family. I also learned to kill." She said picking at the blanket slightly."I am not the type of woman you want around." She said."There is a reason I am Vance's deadly Flower."she said and pursed her lips gently. She was getting comfy in his chair. She had been honest for the first time in her life with someone.

DeathToAllBetrayers

Gideon nodded, "I see... Well I am much deadlier than you. Not even the king of this land knows anything about me except I can kill anyone. It is your life to dance, it is my life to kill. I will kill Ada and Vance and anyone else who comes into this land and tries anything that I do not approve of. The king put me in the position I am in and I will not treat it lightly." He finished speaking, going over and checking on the soup.

He walked back over and sat across from Amanda. "No family hurts each other the way they have hurt you. As long as you are in this land, you will not have to answer to anyone who does not hold the proper authority. The king, the prince, the princesses, and myself. The guards too, but they just make sure you don't break any laws. If your family comes in here and tries anything I will have them hanged as criminals." Gideon spoke as if the idea of killing off an entire group like that was nothing big. He blinked and realized how he sounded. Gideon looked at Amanda, "Don't think I say that out of cruelty or anything. I just care about you and I don't want anyone causing you any harm. That's all...." He explained, his face turning a very light shade of red.

No one had ever made him feel like this before. He felt nervous, almost like he wanted to make a good impression on her. He growled silently to himself, not wanting to look weak or foolish. He composed himself and simply smiled at Amanda, not one of those fake ones either, it was a real smile. "Listen, I don't want you thinking I am not capable, because I am. You are deadly, you are fiery, and you have a passion that burns hot enough to melt the snow around you. Those are traits that I find to be great about you." He spoke softly, his eyes staring at Amanda.

Amanda watched him."I am sure you are," she said. She kept playing with the blanket."You can't kill Ada I care for her Ada is nice to me, only one who dare protect me from Vance at times." She said."woman taught me everything I know." She said. She played with the ring on her right hand.

She looked up as he sat across from her."they never really hurt me. I acted out I had to be punished. That's not the first time I slipped my anklet, they said next time I get the family name carved into my skin, they weren't kidding about that." She said looking at her left arm. She sighed and put her head on her hand as she looked over at him. She yawned gently and hid it behind her other hand."I don't think it's cruel I just like Ada and would protect her with my life." She said. She was getting comfortable in the warmth. She was relaxed.

"I should go I am falling asleep here and don't wish to intrude. I have a bed back in my caravan." She said. When he complimented her she looked away and down her cheeks red with a blush."Well who thought being a deadly thief make you attractive. Thank you for inviting me in." She said and stood. She folded the blanket he had given her up and grabbed her cloak.

Gideon stood, "Don't go. Please, stay here. Allow me to show my appreciation for your beau-." He stopped himself, his eyes wide. "Your company. Allow me to show my appreciation for your company. It gets lonely here...." He looked at her. "Ten years...." He mumbled, not realizing her had said it out loud. He wanted so dearly to not be alone, but didn't want to show it too much. Gideon had spent his whole life alone, and for the first time there was someone who brought him joy. He took the blanket and handed it back, "I do not spend much time here anyways, you can live here. When Ada comes then we can all sit down and discuss what will happen next. Will you grant me this?" He asked her.

Amanda stopped in her tracks. He had almost called her beautiful. She never heard those words come from any man. She turned to him. She nods."I can stay." She said. She yawned into her hand gently. She walked back to stand next to him."Have a place to sleep?" she asked him."I will see about living here." She took the blanket back."I don't take up much space where ever I sleep." She said."when ada gets here will see what she has to say." Amanda said. She gave him a small smile and moved to lean in him the room was warm and had a calming effect on her. Her eye's were half closed.

"Oh sorry." She said and went to stand a bit away from him.
