War of the Three Gods [Inactive]

"Enough Lucifer. I will send an Emissary to discuss terms. Who do you propose I send?"

"I'd suggest you send the priestess Anastasia from the Mother's academy." replied Lucifer. He was glad Deus was going to take some measures at least.

Her sin? Alk didn't fully understand where he was going with this. She felt some amount of anxiety welling up at his words, but pushed it back down. She'd chosen this path, she'd have to go through with it. Even if it meant living her mistakes again and again.

So much for normal.

"Jealousy." Alk stated, thinking back. For as long as she could remember, Alk had been jealous of someone or something. Why couldn't she do this or that? What did that person have that she didn't? Why did she never seem to be good enough?

She thought about that girl with the spear that Gerard had so humbly introduced. She remembered her brief questioning of who she was to him. It was all so trivial... Yes, this was certainly her sin.

"Very well. Be more wise next time Lucifer, I count on you to have a steady mind" Deus said as he sat on a throne.

Diaboli snapped his finger as a door opened beside him. "Step inside, you shall be staying with Demon Lord Jealousy."

"I suppose I don't have any other choice." Alk felt nervous, but she did not waver as she stood. She paused in the doorway to smile back at the god. "I hope that I'll have the pleasure of meeting you again, Lord Diaboli."

She slipped inside.

"I am sorry. They are my friends. The name of the girl is Alkei Minstrove. The boy's name is Calvin. I shall send word for Anastasia to meet you." said Lucifer as he left the room. He rushed to the armory to inform Layla to stay. On his way, he noticed the priestess girl. "Hey, Ann! Deus wants to see you. Go to his chambers. It is of high priority." he said as he continued running to the armory.

The door led to a room filled with fine furniture, everything elegant. A man sat in a large chair drinking wine noticing Alk. "That's what everyone keeps referring to me as, yes," Alk responded, completely taking in the lavish room before glancing at the man. "And I see your the Demon Lord Jealousy. That's what Lord Diaboli called you, at least."

"Absolutely. I'm assuming your friends will be coming back for you. They will die, I promise you they have no idea the true power of a demon lord" Jealousy said as he rocked back in his chair.

She took a few more steps into the room, eyes grazing the furniture there, but she made no move to sit. "While I'm sure that you are right in your assumptions, it is by my own life that they will live on."

"In this situation, it is the only thing I must believe," Alk retaliated. One of her small, pale hands came to rest on a small mahogany table. She looked up at the demon with a tilt of her head. "Until then, however. What did you have in mind for the evening?"

"I see, then I'll just wait here." Alk sat at the table, almost tiny compared to the grand size of the chair. She folded her arms on it's surface and let her head rest atop them as she watched him curiously.

Jealousy snapped his fingers as an image could be seen in a cloud of Calvin fighting Gin. "How interesting, two mortals with great potential fighting to the death, your comrade for you, and ours for fun"

"I don't even know him," Alk muttered, looking away. She hadn't even really met Calvin, she saw him for the first time during their battle against the demon. Lucifer mentioned him once or twice, but other than that, she knew nothing about the boy other than his loud personality. He had no reason to fight for her.

But she had promised Lucifer and Layla that she'd return him to them. In the end, however, she knew it'd be up to this fight to decide whether he went home or not. Alk could do nothing from where she sat now.

Calvin:

The two combatants fought through the Bastion crashing through walls, trying to best the others iron will. As they continued they both became fatigued to the point of throwing punches, blow for blow. "Damn you, give up you idiot" Gin growled. "No, I'm never going to quit, I'm getting that girl back" Calvin responded

Jealousy whispered in Alk's ear, "Even if he wins, he won't get out alive"

Alk tensed, resisting the urge to visibly shudder at the feeling of his breath on her neck. Her hands curled in on themselves, then splayed out against the smooth, cool wood of the table top. She smirked. "Didn't I already tell you? My comrades will live on, even in my own death."

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

"That resolve is beginning to annoy me girl" Jealousy said in harsh tone. "He's going to die, he's going to die because of his resolve and you're going to watch it happen!" he screamed.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Alk watched the two struggle on that cloud of his for a moment, and then proceeded to turn on the demon lord. "I'm not watching anything. He is not going to die today, nor will he die tomorrow. And he will certainly not die 'because of his resolve'.

He will instead live a long and prosperous life because of it. He will win. He will overcome. That is what you will watch." The girl's voice was steady and strong as she looked this sin right in his angry eyes. As for her resolve, it was as clear as day that she would not budge an inch for the sake of his petty annoyance.

Jealousy's eyes burned as he vanished. He could be seen in the cloud as he gripped Calvin by the throat, teleporting him back to his lair. He threw Calvin to the ground with a crazed look in his eyes. "You, this foolish hope will die with you" he waved his hand and Calvin began to glow. Calvin felt an immense pain within him, he began to shout and writhe in pain. "Not his envy, but yours girl, your envy burns him, your envy will eventually kill him! Hahaha!" Jealousy cackled maniacally

"Stop it!" Alk stood so quickly that her heavy chair tipped backwards, crashing to the floor. She had made a promise and she intended to keep it. "Just stop it, please. I won't be so bullheaded anymore. Please, I'll do anything so long as this boy's life is spared!"

The girl practically had to bite back the bile that threatened to rise within her. This was pathetic. She was groveling at his feet, exactly like he wanted her to. But there was no other way. She said she'd sacrifice her life for Calvin, so her pride was next to nothing.

"I am a demon lord girl, and you expect me to stop! He'll die for his hope! He'll die for your hope!" Jealousy shouted as Calvin began to stand "Alk.. Are you okay?" He said through gritted teeth, enduring the pain.

"Don't worry about me, you idiot! Worry about yourself!" She screamed, having to lean against the table for support. Tears started to well up in her eyes as everything she was fighting for slipped out of her reach once more. She locked her eyes on Calvin, who even in approaching death thought of her, and started to yell at the demon. "Please, please! Stop it! I'm begging you!"

And then she was falling, collapsed to her knees on the ground. She could no longer hold in the tears. It wasn't fair! It wasn't fair, it wasn't fair, it was never fair. This was the life they were destined to live. Her dreams of normality, stupid and naive, would never bring her joy. Not if it meant sacrificing someone else's life for her own. Not if it meant losing her friends.
