Our world hasn't had pharaohs in Egypt in quite some time. It also hasn't had magic or magitech that I am aware of.

As in a possible future of our world. It's conceivable that a future Egyptian government could reinstate the pharaohs, and all the magic/magitech would require is that magic was kept hidden in our time (a standard urban fantasy premise) and then exposed, and then magitech was developed based on it.

Huh, not sure that it changes much, now that I think about it. Still, if I had known, I probably would have given my characters English or English-derived (depending on how far in the future it is) names.

Nah she'll probably come back to it later she needs to talk to Jane at some point and there are a lot of places to explore and potential research materials to find

Basically since she's undead she will do most of her research at night when people are asleep only reason she did some experiments this time was because she was exited about the new possibilities of infinite magic
