“This must be it,” HUNK guessed. “I’ll take point.” It seemed as though the tomb had already been opened—or perhaps was never sealed. For something like this to have never been looted, it was either luck or a testament to the cruelty of the traps within.

A few minutes later, Lara slowed the car upon spotting the underground complex entrance. She exited, then took a moment to empty the jerry can into the fuel tank; making a fast getaway would be problematic with an empty tank. Her keen eyes subsequently picked up on the footprints leading into the complex. “Hmm...”

With one pistol drawn, Lara approached what she hoped was the tomb. The sooner she could get the artifact, the sooner she’d find her way out of this bizarre patchwork region.

“Very well,” Leo replied to the sorcerer supreme. With the portals ready, he was free to proceed at any time. The two boys haphazardly went ahead of him, prompting the spellsword to shake his head disapprovingly. He quickly followed suit, climbing through the portal.

"That would be a wise choice, seeing that they picked this location out of the rest seems to say that this person or thing we're fighting prefers enclosed spaces"

Sure enough frank pulled out one of those conspiracy theory boards to explain how a man-bat-man would emerge from the dark multiverse

The Knight watched as the man ran head first into danger, he simply sighs and follows behind. As they enter, a cold breeze could be felt as the tomb welcomed them both. The Knight looked around, it was mostly dark, with a few torches lighting the way. From what could be gathered, it hasn't been bothered in the longest time. The sound of the Knights equipment echoed as he walked, the only constant noise other than that of flame. "This place hasn't been bothered in so long. What could possibly lie here?..."

The forest was quiet, the expected sounds of woodland creatures was practically nonexistent. A small fog covered the area, it wasn't thick enough to make it hard to see, but it definitely makes it easy for anything to hide within. One thing to note, however, was that one of the nearby trees looked as if it was attacked. Scratch marks too large for a bear could be seen, and probably the most baffling of all; A batarang made of what looks like cartilage, bone, and a red, stringy substance.

Stephen looks around his surroundings and noticed the scratch mark on the tree, walking over to it he could see the batarang and the very large scratch marks. He looked at it intently and moved his hand around the scratch mark.

"It's fresh, we should be careful they might still be here"

Stephen said as he became more cautious of his surroundings

After Drinking from the lake and continuing his search, Smaug spotted the tomb while flying on his search for gold and treasure.
”Finally.“
Smaug then dives towards a spot next to the tomb, and lands on it, causing the ground to shake.
“Now.. let’s see what this structure has..”

“Never seen a torch last years,” HUNK countered. “Whatever’s down here, our mission stands. We’ll need to get around or through it... Do you know the way?”

Just then, another voice echoed the remark. “Do you know de wae?” A strange, misshapen red echidna with strabismus stepped out. “You need Ebola to know de wae,” it continued, preparing to spit on the two before it.

“Shit... this is the tomb of dead internet memes,” HUNK sighed, cocking his shotgun.

The Fireteam of four looked around at the heavily accented African accent. Aiming and shooting a portal on the metallic floor, the Spartans wasted no time in jogging through. Once on the other side, they fanned out in a parameter and scanned their immediate environment. Jack took the lead; holding a clenched right fist up to signal a hold in position. He switched bands to the secured Agency comms, and kept his message short.

Far off in the distance, the sound of an inhuman scream could be heard. The echoes of the creatures yell spread across the area, a sense of dread following it.

Pepperjack's voice came through the coms. "This is Pepperjack. Y'all got something there that ain't friendly. Remember, we're looking for the Knight, if whatever that thing is gets in your way, just kill it."

Within the desert, a small drone was flying it's way to the destination. Cugai and Fugai watched as they got a good view of the area, dead and desolate as expected.

"Ok, now can I piolet it?" Fugai asked.

"No." Cugai said.

"C'mon! I said I'd be careful!" Fugai said.

"You said that last time- What the?.."

As they flew closer to the tomb, they could see Smaug sitting nearby.

"Damn it. We're not doing anything with him in the way." Cugai said.

"I have an idea." Fugai said. holding up another controller.

Within the desert, a portal opened right next to the drone, another flying in, but sloppy. It flies near the area, far away enough to be safe, but close enough that Smaug could see it glisten in the sunlight. The other drone keeping low to avoid being seen.

"Copy all, out." Jack concluded the transmission to Vector; glancing over to Hailey as she scaled the crest of the ridge and pulled her sniper rifle off her back. Looking back toward the two other Spartans, Jack released his right hand from the grip of his DMR; pointing his index and middle finger up and rotating his wrist before flicking it forward. With Felix and Ellie on either flank, Jack began to advance through the desert environment as the team went left and around the ridgeline. The structure from Pepperjack's transmission was only a klick away from their position, and with it, the source of the noise that emitted from it. A Dragon? Even from a mile, it was damn near impossible to spot the gargantuan reptile of ancient legend- though he didn't expect it to be as massive as a damn Scarab. About five hundred meters out, the only surveyable cover were the remains of an ancient stone structure, upended and sunk to the side. The three quickened their pace and made their way inside the toppled building; scanning their sectors before refocusing their attention toward stacking up on the other side of the cracked stone wall. A single hole gave way just big enough for each Spartan to maneuver their way out the other side, yet the distance from this building to the temple was nothing but a stretch of open ground spanning at least 200 meters.

Hailey twisted her nose in disgust at the sand, pulling the bipod down from the handhold of the sniper rifle with a soft 'click!' as she embedded the attachment's legs in the beige powder. Shifting her stance to rest the stock firmly against her shoulder, she tilted her head and peered into the scope as she angled the sight to briefly trail near Jack and the others- before drifting further off to the direction they were heading in and setting her sights on the massive creature. "Three to Actual, target structure located. Entity sighted; appears to be guarding it... slapped something out of the air, over."

"We see the dragon, hold your fire. Scope out, don't let it see the glint."

"Copy. Waiting."

Hailey turned her rifle on its side, crawling a few inches backward as she entrenched herself deeper into the ridge.

Jack adopted a crouch near the hole, with Felix and Ellie taking the other side as they both looked up to address them. "Right, so how are we going about this?"

"Camo's not gonna work with sand, boss. Not unless we divert its attention."

Jack peered out of the hole, sizing up the path and spotting a strange mechanical device a few hundred meters from their position. It looked like a UAV; matching what Hailey mentioned earlier. Was that sent by Command? Turning back to face the others, he shook his head and held up a finger before doubling back against the wall. "Maverick One to Vector, temple sighted. We're holed up in a stone structure a few hundred meters away; got a dragon here that downed a UAV. What's the call, over?"
