Vector's voice came through the coms, sounding baffled. "Dragon? Oh yeeeaaaahhh. Don't worry about him, Cugai and Fugai are trying to get a good look inside that underground thingie, so their going to see if they can get it to go away. They told us that they'd send agents there if there isn't some kind of abomination down there. So, for now, OUR mission is to look for the Knight in the abandoned mall that's a few clicks to the northwest of your current location. Just don't get the dragon's attention, or this is going to get worse."

Leo reached out and pried the organic parody of a batarang from the three. After staring at it for a moment, his feline eyes flickered up to the scars in the tree bark. “Perhaps the Batman we know is benevolent,” he started ominously, “but I have my doubts about this one.” He then scanned the forest canopy, but moved to keep from falling behind.

HUNK kept going, checking every corner to avoid an ambush. “We’re not here to negotiate, either,” he stated in a deadpan tone.

The two soon came to a point where the floors were uneven. HUNK barred the knight’s advance with his arm and studied the floor. The most raised tiles rain between two pillars. A more in-depth inspection—literally the agent prodding the tiles with his heel—revealed the tiles jiggled a bit, like they were loose. HUNK slid towards the right pillar to examine its base. There was a slight recess, with the pillar’s base being more rounded. He nudged the column, revealing it wobbled a bit. “False pillar... Basic.”

Lara entered the tomb, tracking the footprints. In the thick layer of dust and sand that was safe from the desert winds, she could tell one set of tracks was made by a variety of combat boot, while the other... completely stumped her. There were no discerning grooves in their impressions.

A faint whirring noise prompted Lara to take cover in an alcove. She readied both guns in case a rival tomb raider had sent surveillance drones. She’d rather have them go in blindly, so she could have the advantage.

”Two drones?” Aeon gathered as she watched her bosses pilot them. “One flies gracefully and carefully, while the other flounders and draws most of the attention.” She whistled while watching Fugai’s camera feed. “Gotta hand it to you, Fugai... you sure can fly poorly.” Oddly, that could be a compliment, given he was making good use of his awful skill.

Lucia entered soon after Fireteam Alpha; it seemed the delay was due to her changing outfits. The demon hunter had donned something considerably more fashionable than her usual garb. She felt safer going with the Spartans, but four soldiers in power armor would surely cause a scene. She quickly made some distance to hopefully keep any eyes away from her. The swords were tucked under her leather jacket, their pommel-heads peeking out. It seemed she had applied masking tape to their mouths, to shut them up.

Smaug then approached the structure, and teared the entrance using both of his arms/wings.
“Now.. I just need to enter…”

The desert winds kicked up the sands as the travelers made their way through. The desolate land spoke of despair, the echoing voices of the damned singing with the wind. The Knight was too familiar with something like this, a dead land with no hope in sight. Each portion of the desert and it's amalgamed biomes told of the horrors that lived within, or perhaps, held the tales of hellish nightmares that were too conjoined to tell apart.

The only option they had was to keep going. The mission had to be fulfilled, even if one of Konahrik's was out there....

Yamato summoned his Beast Legion, the dark black and read demon materializing to his master to ride. Once Yamato climbed on, the two set off to start their search. "Go on. Let's find the target...."

Far off in the distance, the sound of an inhuman scream could be heard. The echoes of the creatures yell spread across the area, a sense of dread following it.

Pepperjack's voice came through the coms. "This is Pepperjack. Y'all got something there that ain't friendly. Remember, we're looking for the Knight, if whatever that thing is gets in your way, just kill it."

Within the desert, a small drone was flying it's way to the destination. Cugai and Fugai watched as they got a good view of the area, dead and desolate as expected.

"Ok, now can I piolet it?" Fugai asked.

"No." Cugai said.

"C'mon! I said I'd be careful!" Fugai said.

"You said that last time- What the?.."

As they flew closer to the tomb, they could see Smaug sitting nearby.

"Damn it. We're not doing anything with him in the way." Cugai said.

"I have an idea." Fugai said. holding up another controller.

Within the desert, a portal opened right next to the drone, another flying in, but sloppy. It flies near the area, far away enough to be safe, but close enough that Smaug could see it glisten in the sunlight. The other drone keeping low to avoid being seen.

"Yo! Waddup, Fireteam Maverick!" Vector's voice burst out of the coms. "Ol' Vector here's gonna watch over you guys. Lucia should be coming too, we're gonna check out that freaky mall to find new shoes- ....find the computer room-......Find the Knight, yeah that's it."

Talim ran into the main room, followed by Siegfried. The knight let out an annoyed huff as the young priestess turned her gaze to the main screen.

"Send us out, too! We can help fight these threats! Right, Siegfried?" Siegfried tightened his grip on Requiem, the massive two handed sword resting on his back scbbard.

"Hmph."

"Where can we help?" Talim asked as she walked up to look at the boss selection map.

The entrance of the tomb was large enough for Smaug to stick his head inside, but alas, that seemed to be about all he could do, the staircase leading inside had walls too narrow for the dragon to slip in, not without risking the entire thing collapsing, and losing whatever's inside.

The drone Fugai was piloting lie on the ground, but it seemed to slowly start moving on the ground. what looked like a tread had appeared on the device, as it moves it's way into the tomb, squeezing between the walls and Smaug's large person.

Within the tomb, the Knight studied the area, and began to notice something....odd. He can see what looked like unfamiliar devices, many of which don't even belong in a tomb. They looked like something HUNK would be familiar with. "You. These devices, have you seen them before?"

The one he was looking at specifically resembled a heart monitor, as if it was taken straight from a hospital. Strangely enough, it looked like it was covered in a black ooze, like someone rubbed a ballpoint pen allover it.

The forest was quiet, for the most part, whatever made that noise had become almost dead silent. The eerie feel of whatever was within watching the band was growing in an ever coming fever. Whatever was there knew what it was doing, and it was prepared for anything.

Pepperjack's voice came through. "Careful, boys. I dunno what the hell's out there, but I think it's right on top of you lot..."

"BEHIND YOU!!!"
The sound of a screaming creature came out from the trees, it's large, malformed wings launched it right toward Leo.

Instead of Cugai and Fugai, Marina walked up to the two. "Well, you guys can help me and Storm with the Alaskan Lake. Since all the other areas have become...taken. Storm's the only one to decide to head there, so I think she'd appreciate the help."

The trip to the Mall would be a bit of a hassle, but the scanners got a good idea of what they were heading too. The mall, despite being large, seemed void of life. There seemed to be people there, but they seemed almost petrified in stone. A mother protecting her children, a roman gladiator, a proud propane salesman, all having some horrid fate bestowed to them. All the while, the horrors they'd face lie within the mall. Who, or what, is what remains to be seen.

"I think its time we c-"

Before he could finish what he was about to say, Pepperjack's warning came through as he saw a winged figure flying straight at Leo. Mentally, he commanded the Cloak of Levitation to wrap itself around the creature's head as it swept down towards them. It was too fast for him to cast any spells and this was just from instinct.

Marina gives a warm smile, pressing a few buttons on her laptop, causing a portal to open to the Alaskan Lake. "Stay off the hook, guys, and good luck finding the knight!"

The beast yelps as it crashes into the dirt below, dust kicking up as it thrashes about to get the cloak off. It looked like a humongous bat, with large leathery wings. It looked as if it wore torn gray pants, and had a black cape running down it's back. It then grabs the cloak, throwing it off of it's face, showing that it wore Batman's cowl, but the man behind it was now some kind of mutant bat creature.

The Alaskan Lake was possibly the most beautiful sight amongst them all. The green of the grass and trees run rampant around the large lake that flows within. It was almost as if it wasn't in the middle of a desert with how clean the water was, and the blueness of the sky. What horrors, if any, it held onto seemed to be nonexistent, but the agents must remain vigilant.

"so we are fighting a man-bat-man" said Frank with a look of curiosity on his face

"Hi! My names Kevin!" Kevin said opting to try diplomacy because he was terrified "that's leo, that's Doctor strange and frank" the boy mumbled after frank covered his mouth

"Now's not a good time to do diplomacy Kevin" said frank

"Watch your step. This could be a mirage.." Siegfried ordered, taking the lead as he tugged his arm free from Talim's grip. The younger warrior looked around at the beautiful surroundings, smiling at her reflection in the water.

"How could something so beautiful be a mirage? Aren't you being too hard on yourself?"

"...Let's go. We need to find that knight before he gets away."

And so the two continued their quest, keeping an eye out for any enemies along the way....

As the two walked around the area, the quiet is suddenly broken when Marina's voice comes through the coms. "Heeeeey! So, I know this is sudden, but I wanted to let you two know that, before Storm comes, I'm sending in Eight, Bio Spark, and Terra to help out, since this is a capture mission and all. Plus, I even got Raditz back online. Ain't that cool! Hope the extra help doesn't bug you guys, since Pearl doesn't think sending these three, especially Eight, is a good idea, but I dunno." The sound of nervous laughing could be heard.

After bypassing the first easy trap, HUNK cocked his head. "This is medical equipment, from a modern hospital," he told the knight. Unsheathing his knife, the operative reached out and scraped off some of the inky black substance. "It shouldn't be here... Nor should this shit coating it."

Lara stayed hidden, though she could hear the dragon's steady breathing and feel the entire tunnel shake. The hum of the tiny engine grew closer until she noticed the drone flying inside. "No photographs," she snarked, opening fire on it.

That monstrosity also did speak; it was intelligent. Lara leapt from her cover and onto the beast's nose. Once balanced, she pointed a gun at Smaug's eye. "You don't look like a 'Joe'. Why are you sticking your nose where it doesn't belong, dragon?" To back up her remark, she unfurled the note from their mutual employer for Smaug to read.

Dear Ms. Lara Croft,

You do not know me, but I've learned of your work. I've heard of a few hidden artifacts located in a temple that's located deep within one of the largest desserts in your the world. I cannot give too many details, but I believe it is part of an ancient order that died out a millennia ago, centered around dragons.

It looks like an amulet, but if they tried to turn it into a ring. You'll know it when you see it. I will pay you 50,000 gold to retrieve it for me. Oh, and don't worry about travel. You will know when I've sent you there. Do not ask why, or how.

Sincerly,
Joe.

Storm stepped through the portal after the two and immediately took flight. "I can cover more ground from above," she reasoned aloud. The odd sight of a cold, pristine Alaskan lake in the middle of a desert sent a different kind of chill down the superhero's spine.

Leo whipped around to see his assailant had been restrained briefly. "It's fast..." he commented before using the blue gem to invoke Soulfunil. The huge, sharp icicles peppered the bat creature's area in rapid succession.

While waiting for the proverbial green light, Aeon had ordered a fettuccine alfredo dinner. She watched the monitors as she ate. "With food like this, how do I stay skinny?" she muttered with her mouth full. She subsequently swallowed the food so she could talk clearly. "Come to think of it... we do still have an open line of communication with our Batman, right?" Aeon inquired. "He might know a thing or two about his own parallel selves and how to defeat them." Truly, she earned her pay with brains alone.

"This must be Konahrik's doing." The Knight said. "I doubt this won't be the last." The Knight continues forward, the next room leading to what looks to be a drawbridge, and a large pit beneath it. Problem is, it's not lowered. "Damn it. There must be a lever somewhere-" The Knight turns when the sound of gunfire echoes through the chamber.

Cugai throws down his controller, speaking obscene words under his mouth. Fugai looks over to Aeon, holding a finger to the sky. "Goood, good use of that big brain-a-yours"
"Good idea, Aeon!" Fugai turned over to Pepperjack. "Pepperjack, get Batman on the line."

"Kinda busy right now, boss." Pepperjack said, keeping an eye on the screen.

"Aight, then I'm going to do it." Fugai presses a button on a tablet. "CiMos, contact Administrator Batman."

CiMos begun trying to connect to Batman, only for it to not find a signal. "Odd...maybe he's busy right now."

The beast looks up to the sky, quickly leaping away as the ice crystals came flying down. As it tries to fly onto the woods, an ice crystal strikes the creature in the wing, a giant hole in the membrane. It falls to the ground, turning over to the others. It unleashes a loud, inhuman roar.

You are challenged by Man-Batman

It opens it's mouth, wide, demonstrating one of it's many strange abilities. From it's neck, both it's tonsils seem to swell to the size of watermelons. Using it's "hands" it rips them both out of it's throat, and lets them roll on the ground. Once both organs rolled to the heroes, they both unleash a powerful foggy gas into the air, creating a mist within the air. The creature lifts it's head, and opens it's mouth once again. Like a chameleon, it's tongue fires out of it's mouth, stabbing into one of the trees. It pulls itself with it's powerful tongue, launching into the woods, and vanishing from sight.

Kevin began to scream "OH NO HE GOT AWAY! WHAT ARE WE GONNA-" frank glared at him "we need a plan, we gotta prepare a plan against man-bat-man" said frank

"Well he's clearly injured." Said Kevin "maybe we can take him down quickly"

"Doubt it, he probably has some sort of healing factor" frank said with a look of doubt on his face, the boy wouldn't admit it but he was terrified and he was good at hiding it "anyone here got something we can use to make a fire?"

The Cloak of Levitation fly back onto Stephen's back as the creature sped away through the woods

"You forget Leo and I can use magic"

Stephen then conjured a burst of flames in his hand showed it to Frank

"So, what do you need fire for?"

"Alright, Frank, that seems to be a good strategy but what plan do we have? Maybe set up sonic machines or loud radios around the forests, I can teleport them around for you. Since the leaves and trees here are dry, it'll be easier to set them ablaze. Frank, your a scientist, can you make something that can produce sound when it detects motion, also you should make earplugs for us, dont want us going deaf"

Sir loin of beef Sir loin of beef

"I got earplugs!" Kevin said giving a pair to everyone when Dr strange mentioned them

"Sure, gimme a couple minutes and I'll have some sound motion devices set up, but first I need some materials" frank said

"Just tell me, I'll get them"

He told Frank
