Fantasy Those That are Hunted

Vanessa nodded and took a step into the room, examining it's contents. She couldn't exactly connect with Alec's feelings as she'd never had any siblings, but she knew it must have been difficult for him.

"Well... Sorry about your sister," she said, although she had no idea why someone would leave their freewill behind to work for the government.

Vanessa found herself wandering around the room, not yet comfortable enough to sit down. This whole situation made her uneasy; being forced to trust people she barely knew only because other people she barely knew were after her. The enemies of her enemies were apparently her only option. It didn't necessarily mean she liked it.

Alec watched her movements. "You know, if you really want to you don't have to be here. I was only trying to help. I know it an uncomfortable situation." He paused for a moment to think. "How about this. Lets get to know each other. As you already know my name is Alec Gray. My gifted ability is to see/talk talk to ghost and summon the dead. I can also tell if someone is gifted or not. What about you?"

"Damn." Eloarch muttered, not fully anticipating that dissapating one illusion would cancel the rest as well. 'I suppose I can't track them down that way now.' he thought, slightly perturbed about the fact that he'd now have to find a new route to finding his targets. However, at that moment, he heard the harsh, growling pant of a animal behind him in an adjacent alley. Instantly, his guard was up, his senses on full alert, and his powers ready to dismantle any creature that attacked him. Outwardly, he turned to face the beast slowly, so as not to instigate the creature. It was then that he saw that the creature was a wolf... made of ice. Standing next to it was a girl, her hand slightly icy and creating ice crystals in the near vicinity, leading Eloarch to believe that the girl was Gifted and the wolf was her creation. 'Do I... know her from somewhere?' he thought, as her appearance stirred something in his memory. Then, he remembered. 'She's the girl the illusion boy pictured being attacked. Perhaps she is a cohort of theirs. Of course, why show her being attacked then? Either way, we'll see.' he decided. "Excuse me, but I'm going to need some information from you, if that's not too much to ask. First, who are you and why did you come here? Second, if you know their whereabouts, I need you tell me where the two fugitive targets are. Please, comply quickly, I don't want to employ force." he spoke in the casual, yet detached voice someone uses with a stranger.

Vanessa turned to him, slightly embarrassed.

"I don't want to be here," she admitted. "But I'm screwed whatever I do..."

She took a breath. This was the first time she had really openly talked properly about her powers to someone, at least the first time when she wasn't running for her life.

"I'm Ve-... Vanessa," she said slowly. "And I... I'm not entirely sure what I do. I mean, I know what happens, but I don't really know what to call it. I turn into this... black... liquid stuff...? I don't know. It's not quite as impressive as seeing dead people, I guess..."

Alec looked at her. "I think all abilities are impressive. Even those like yours. That you don't know what it really does." He walked over to her. "His face softened. "I know you must feel cornered, but please consider this place like a family. Most of these people come from backgrounds like mine where their parents either kicked them out or tried to sell them for money. We all came together to fight for what we deserve. Freedom and to not be treated like a monster."

Amelie took a steady step towards him. "Elo..how are you...?" That voice he was using hurt her. "Do you not remember me?" She felt a pang in her chest. The wolf stood defensively next to her. What did they do to him? How is he still alive. Her task at hand was completely gone from her mind. For all she cared they could be a million mile away.

Vanessa chuckled in her head.

"This really is like X-men..." she thought to herself, keeping a straight face on the outside.

"I can but try." she replied. "So now that I'm here, do I get given the tour and my personalized uniform, or what? I mean, what exactly are you expecting me to do?"

She didn't want to sound ungrateful, but sarcasm was the best way for her to deal with this situation.

"Well you can get a tour. And honestly you don't have to do anything. Most people here, if they can't fight, just do research on all of the people who are agents. They also keep track of those who are not apart of us just in case they need help, or if some of them join the government, they become apart of the research." He walked out of his office. "Follow me and I'll show you where everything is. Our facility is four stories underground. The first one is the offices/research, this floor. The one below us is training. People go there to spar with each other and improve their skills. We have notice some people share the same abilities so the mentor each other. The third floor is the rec room were you can just hang out. We got tvs and all the gaming systems you can think of along wit ha pool table, air hockey, and ping pong. The kitchen is there as well. And the last floor is the living quarters. There is only one entrance to that and in an emergency there are thick metal doors that seal shut." He walked her over to the elevator. "We also own the coffee shop above us." Once the elevator arrived he stepped in. "Time to show you your room and after that you can decide if you want to help me or not."

"A bed definitely sounds good right now." Vanessa said as she followed him into the elevator.

As the door closed, Vanessa felt her hand flex between solid and fluid and she frowned, focusing on keeping it normal. The focusing took slightly more effort than she though it would, but eventually she kept it under control.

"So... Your power..." Vanessa said, trying to cover the silence in the elevator. "Can you turn it on and off, or is it dead-people vision all the time?"

Eloarch didn't know who this girl was, but she clearly knew him. This fact made him slightly uncomfortable, as it was usually in his nature to stay hidden because it was beneficial to his missions. "Listen, I don't know who you are. I also don't know how you know me, but only those close to me can call me Elo." When she asked if he remembered her, he just stared back at her, scrutinizing her to see if there was any indication she was lying or being insincere. The curious thing was, everything about her body language and facial expressions said that not only was she telling the truth, but this meeting seemed to be causing her intense emotional turmoil, perhaps even pain. 'How in the world can I have that effect on someone I've just met for the first time in my life?' he questioned silently as he stared at the girl, making sure to keep an eye on the wolf, just in case he needed to turn it into snow if it attacked. "Tell me who you are right now, and perhaps I won't have to force it out of you. Now, if you please!" he barked, trying to get her attention as she seemed to be miles away, thinking about some past memory.

Alec chuckled. "You can't exactly just shut it off. But it's not like there are ghost everywhere. Like right now. There aren't any ghost but you. In my eyes you are glowing. Every gifted I see or meet have a glow. Some more than others." The elevator opened again. Alec walked out into the long hallway with doors all along the walls. "Your room will be next to mine. 10th door on the right." HE walked up and opened it. "Since there are a lot of us each room holds two beds." On the inside it was similar to a dorm. There were two rooms, each room having two beds, and one master sized bathroom. "You have the room on the left."

The wolf growled at Eloarch. Amelie's eyes narrowed. She now figured out what they did to him. No wonder he doesn't remember her. They reseted something in him. She shifted her body so that it could relax, or as much as it could in this situation. She did not want to fight him."My name is Amelie Gray. I am one of the top agents that work for the government. We worked with each other at one point but I guess it was so long ago you don't remember." She started at him, the only thing revealing her sadness was her eyes.

"Okay. Easy enough." Vanessa said, stepping through the open doorway.

The rooms seemed better than anything she'd had before, and for once Vanessa was starting to think she had made the right decision after all.

As she looked around the room, a drop of black liquid leaked out of her nose and she frowned again, wiping it away before Alec could notice it.

"I guess it's because I'm tired... Although, I feel alright..." Vanessa thought to herself, a little worried.

"How many other people are there in this place?"

Elo was skeptical. "I have a fantastic memory, yet I have no recollection of ever having worked with you." He stared at her a little longer, shifting the surrounding vectors as a tangible threat. Then, suddenly, everything was back to normal. "Very well. I gain nothing from standing here talkin with you, and it seems you gain nothing as well. I suppose we can, for the time being, be partners, of sorts." Glancing at the ice wolf, he added, "However, I'd rather that thing not follow us until it is time to apprehend the targets." With a nonchalant flick of his hand, the wolf shattered, crushed by immense air pressure of molecules that had been forced into the space it occupied. "Also... hmmm... I guess it'll be fine, if only for this mission." he said to himself, before looking up. Slowly, almost hesitantly, he offered her a hand, saying, "My mode of transporation is faster, but it requires you to hold on to me. Tightly." Then, with a slight smile that uncannily resembled how he used to look at her, he added, "Come on, you don't want to fall out of the sky, do you? I don't bite, honest. Not unless you want me too." It was almost an echo of what he had said to her as he had held her minutes before his "death".

Xavier watched the interactions between Amelie and the undead guy, not sure what was going on. Amelie's wolf shattered loud enough for him and Kai to hear on the balcony, and then the guy held his hand out to her. He said a few more things, still talking while a cold sinking feeling settled in Xavier's stomach. "I think we've been found," he whispered quietly, then ducked back inside the apartment while the guy and Amelie were distracted. Scowling a little, Xavier closed his eyes tightly, running his hands through his hair as he paced around the large living room and let his focus off keeping him and Kai unseen. "My God, I'm gonna be killed for this. They'll really kill me this time," he said to himself, stupidly letting himself dawn on that realization when the governments top two agents were hunting him down and right down the street. Smoothly dropping to the carpet, Xavier sat criss cross on the floor and kept his eyes closed. "If we die, I am so going to drag you ass back to life so I can kill you," he joked halfheartedly, finally opening his eyes to watch the balcony.

Kai grinned and sat down on the couch, propping his feet up on the coffee table. "I dont need to worry," he laughed, "i have enough chaos to protect me, and use this gun." Kai got up and made himself another cup of coffee. "You on the other hand should," he said as he walked back to the couch, "unless..." he paused dramatically, "if my theory is correct, if you can cause enough chaos i can protect you as well. Another thing that may work, what if we release little particles of chaos into the air, like my blood, how do you think that will effect that flying dudes particle shifting powers?"

Guess what!? I use Tapatalk as well!!!

Amelie winced at his choice of words. Of course he would say that. "He wouldn't have been able to keep up anyway." She said in a low voice. She took his hand and hesitantly got closer to him. "Do you just want me to wrap my arms around you or something?" The last time she did this, things were different between them. Now he as like a different person, but at the same time not. IN all honesty sometimes she felt to 'fly' with Eloarch there needed to be some intimacy between the two.

Alec had to think for a moment. "I believe we have about 100 or so that follow me. Most of them live here, some don't. I'm not the only one who has people that want to fight. There are a bunch of places like these around the county. Maybe the world." He sighed. "But not enough to actually take the government down sadly." He back out of her room. "I bet you want some rest. Your roommate won't be back till tomorrow so you don't have to worry about someone coming in the middle of the night."

Xavier paused, thinking then looking up at Kai in false shock. "Oh my God you just said something smart," he said, then stood up and walked over to the kitchen counter, resting his elbows in the surface and his head in his hands. "That just might work. I could make a fog or something, then you add your chaos and I spread it out in the air. It'd be easier than just trying to get your chaos or whatever to float around," he explained and checked absentmindedly checked the clip in his gun, then made sure his blade was tightly fastened in it's sheath in his boot. He trusted Kai enough, but that didn't mean he was about to head into the fight unarmed. He glanced up over at Kai, somehow strangely relaxed despite the situation. "Is there enough coffee for me to have a cup?"

Kai looked into the pot. "Just enough," he said as he poured Xavier a cup of coffee. Kai took out the gun that Caitlin had given him and looked at it. His smile widened the longer he looked at it. Setting the power on very low, he shot the gun at Xavier. Kai felt a shock of pain as the life force inside him was harnessed through the gun. Kai then punched Xavier in the face. Kai smiled, hoping that his theory of the chaos protection could work. Kai then switched it to super low and fired the gun at the table. Kai felt hardly any pain, and a small dark ball shot into the table, burning a dent into it. Kai smiled and looked at the gun with new interest. "I wonder how many cool things i can do with this gun..." he muttered to himself.

"Okay, cool." Vanessa said, sitting on her bed. She was getting a strong feeling to sleep, finding it harder and harder to keep her eyes open. "Um... Thanks. For... uh... all of this..."

Vanessa frowned and blinked heavily, black clouds swimming across her vision.

"It's really... um..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Vanessa's vision went completely black and she fell back onto the bed heavily, unconscious.

Xavier jumped a little when he was shot -again- but blinked in surprise when all he felt was a very dull thump. He gave Kai an unamused look and didn't even flinch when the other boy hit him in the face. Ignoring Kai for a minute he went and retrieved his coffee, adding a few spoonfuls of sugar to make it sweet but leaving out any creamer or milk. He took a sip and sighed contently at the warmth and slight energy buzz it gave him, then walked into the living room area as Kai was shooting the table. "You'll destroy everything around you and, by default, me. Just don't kill anybody," he mumbled and sat on the couch, leaning back and planning on enjoying his sugar infused coffee until Amelie came with Agent Undead or whoever.

"Awww no killing" Kai groaned, "can I please injure them? That's the fun part of my power though," he chuckled. Kai paced around the room, bored, "can we like release the chaos particles into the room now or some shit like that?" Kai asked, obviously very bored. He walked over and drank from Xavier's cup of coffee. He made a disgusted face and pocked out his tongue, "needs milk," he tutted and continued pacing around the room.

"I said tightly." he said in a semi-exasperated voice. In a quick motion, he bent his knees slightly, lifted the gravity vectors on their bodies, and soared as high as the tallest skyscrapers. "Normally, I'd ask for your help in locating the targets, but chaos boy was gracious, and foolish, enough to use his powers enough to disturb the air vectors enough to alert me." he shouted over the wind whipping due to their altitude, holding the girl a little tighter for reassurance. Turning his eyes to a certain appointment building, he smirked slightly, while zooming over. Without any warning whatsoever, he blasted through the glass, stepping lightly on the broken glass, and let the girl down. Staring at the two guys in the room, he said with a grin, " Nice too meet the real you, but I'm afraid you're going to have to come with me." Just in case they attacked, he put up a repellent vector field that reversed the vectors of anything coming his way.

Amelie kept her eyes closed when they were in the air. Oh did she really dislike flying. She gripped him tighter when Eloarch broke through the glass. Opening her eyes, he let her down. Ice formed a protective layer over her skin and a sword appeared in her hand. "I'm disappointed in you Xavier. I never thought you'd betray us, especially for him." Her voice was venomous and her eyes narrowed. She twirled the sword in her hand. "If you come back now I'm sure our boss will be willing to forgive you just this once."

Alec chuckled as he watched Vanessa pas out on the bed. He closed her door quietly behind him. Once he was in the elevator his phone started to ring. "Yes?" "There has been a commotion in the city. A few have been saying they saw a woman flying through the air with a man. They also said she looked like a female version of you." Alec's eyes narrowed. She shouldn't be back so soon. "Thank you Lior." He hung up the phone. It was almost time. His team is almost ready to fight them. Alec had an idea of who the man was with her and he knew not to just send anybody in. Soon. He thought. Soon we will be able to fight.

Kai laughed as he heard shrieks from below. People were scared by flying men smashing windows, luckily. It seemed as though the flying dude didn't remember Kai's power. "Unfortunately, that is not really an option," Kai quickly shot Xavier with his gun, a powerful shot and Kai yelled in pain. He fell to his knees and looked up to the ceiling. When he stopped he glanced at the flying dude. "Heads up!" Kai fired a few shots into the roof causing the rof to collapse on them. Fueled by the chaos of his own pain, Kai and Xavier felt nearly none of the damage caused by the falling rubble. Kai then leaped out the building and landed on the road below. Kai was slightly winded by the fall but otherwise fine. "You really have forgotten everything haven't you." Kai laughed as he ran along the street.

Xavier scowled when the two busted through the window, but mostly because there was now glass in his coffee. Standing and completely ignoring the guy, Xavier smiled and shrugged at Amelie. "Well, I honestly thought you knew better. A collared dog will run as soon as the collar is gone, and I don't think they'd take me back," he said smoothly, then looked down as the ceiling fell in. Quickly, Xavier ran out after Kai, jumping out the window but landing on an awning and hopping off. He had the feeling he would have survived the fall, but it was still nerve racking and he didn't want to risk two broken legs. Running along side Kai Xavier laughed lightly, catching the strange looks people gave the them. Xavier would probably have stared too, considering they were two teen boys running down the street with guns drawn. "Any plan or just keep running like this?" He asked Kai, still laughing a little and not caring either way.

After a brief moment of stillness, Vanessa's eyes flew open again, now completely black. As she sat up stiffly, the veins in the side of her head slightly more visible as they pumped black fluid around her body. The black eyes fell across the contents of the room with a mixture of boredom and disdain.

Eventually, Vanessa's lips smirked as she reached out to the part of her tucked neatly inside the female agent's brain.

"Hello there... Time to play..."
