Fantasy Those That are Hunted

Kai got up and shoved the pistol in his pocket. "We keep moving," Kai grinned and opened the door. "Thanks Jake," Kai said as he handed Jake some cash. "Some other time," and with that Kai walked onto the street and into the public library. "Blend in," he whispered to the illusion boy as he started reading a book.

When the headset went dead Amelie knew something was wrong. You don't just turn off your headset in the middle of a mission. Amelie knew what their superiors did to him. Putting a chip into his body so they could track him since he tended to disappear for long periods of time. "Xavier!" She yelled into the headset again. She got nothing. Not even static. She instantly flipped out her phone and dialed a number. "This is agent Amelie Glass. Code number 562339." She waited for the confirmation then continued. "I need to know the location of Agent Xavier." A minute went by before she heard the person on the other side call for her superiors. That's not good. Not good at all. Calling her superiors means that his chip can't be located. This day was not going well for her at all. The one person she cared about dead, her current partner just became a wanted agent, and she lost Kai and the girl he was with. Wait the girl he was with! Maybe she will know something. She couldn't have gotten far. Amelie started walking along the streets near by. She knew that the girl would try to blend in but her gifts seemed to have been causing her problems. Finally she found her. "You! If you help me capture the boy you were with before I will let you go free. No one will go after you." She walked up slowly to her. Acutely aware of the fact that she didn't have any wounds.

Xavier nodded and followed Kai, barely noticing the pain in his arm or leg. He had been trained after all, and being resistant to pain was just a small part of what it took to be a Gifted Agent like he was, and Xavier had scars to prove it. Not that he would of course, they were more of reminders of what his superiors were capable of. On the street, Xavier flipped his hood over his hair and kept his face down, sitting at the table in the library with Kai and laying his head down on his arms, hiding his hair and eyes and looking like he was asleep.

(Sorry! Didn't realise we had restarted!)

Vanessa jumped as the lady from before approached her, and scrambled to her feet as panicked instincts took over. Maybe she could make it if she ran for the other end of the alley...

"You know that's not true," she replied, backing away slowly as the lady tried to close the gap between them. "Even if I could help you, you wouldn't put this much effort into finding us in the first place if we could simply opt out of it all."

Vanessa took a moment to look at the female in front of her more closely, realising just how much the two of them had actually been through.

"I-I'm sorry about your partner..." she said, referring to the recently deceased man who had caused chaos not moments ago. For the most part, Vanessa's sympathy was sincere, but a part of her also hoped it may make the woman lose her focus.

Amelie just looked at the girl and flinched at the mention of Eloarch. No she wouldn't let it affect her."You don't seem to understand the situation or who I am. I am Amelie. One of the government's top agent. I can grant you your freedom in return for helping me find Kai, the man you were with." She looked Vanessa over. "And you aren't much of a threat. Unfortunately your gift seems to cause you some struggle." Amelie walked towards her and held out her hand. "Join me and we will help you gain control over your power."

Eloarch

A cacophony of sounds. That was all that Eloarch heard. Transient voices giving what sounded like commands, the bustle of frenzied movement, and the whirring of machinery permeated Eloarch's consciousness. 'What is this? I always imagined death as more... well... deathly silent.' he thought. However, he had no time to ponder the workings of death any longer because he was blinded by a sudden burst of light. When it had receded, Eloarch was suprised to find that he was encased in a metal case of sorts, complete with various layers and security measures. This particular situation wasn't new to Eloarch, nor was it particularly distressing. No, what truly perplexed him was the simple fact that he was alive. As he gained, or rather, regained, his bearings, a woman dressed in white walked in while glancing at a clipboard, and a troupe of men wearing black suits and sunglasses filed in.

Now, normally, Eloarch didn't panic. No matter the situation, he prided himself on his composure. Normally, he'd be trying out some of his newest quips on these people. True, he'd be nervous on the inside, but that was mostly attributable to worrying about whether or not he'd be able to make his date with his "flavor of the week". Currently, there was the slight problem that he had absolutely no idea how he'd gotten here, wherever here was, or who any of these people were. However, more likely, the reason for his current lack of mental faculty was the woman. 'She is... beautiful.' Eloarch thought. Perhaps that's why he didn't notice what she was doing until she'd released him from all of his bonds, allowing him to step free from his cage.

Cassandra

'He's... pretty attractive.' the woman found herself thinking, until she shook her head slightly, as if to rid her mind of such thoughs. 'Focus, Cassie. You worked very hard to get here, and you can't just go and lose this job because of one handsome guy with... really... stunning eyes... FOCUS!' she mentally berated herself. Cassandra Juliet Richardson had worked her way up from the bottom, trying to prove to her peers that she wasn't just the trust fund baby her parents and schooling made her out to be. She excelled at everything her superiors threw at her, so it was no surprise that she'd become the youngest government employee ever to be assigned to the top secret, officially nonexistent "Project Gifted". Right away, she had been given orders to go talk to the single most dangerous operative the government had ever employed. Naturally, she'd expected some sort of hulking, paralyzingly intimidating creature, or at least a beastial alien of sorts. Instead, she found what looked to be an attractive human male who seemed to be disoriented with no idea where he was, who brought him here, or what was going on.

Still, she had a job to do, and damned if she wouldn't see it through to completion. "Are you awake now? My name is Cassandra Richardson, and I shall be acting as your handler to the best of my capacity for the duration of your employment here. It says here that you were found nearly mortally wounded. Curiously, your own powers had prevented your death. You were brought here to be revived and put back to work." Cassie glanced up, fully intending on staring directly at the man she'd just addressed. However, it seemed his own gaze's intensity, coupled with his iridescent eyes, were too much, and she resorted to lower her head to her clipboard once more with a slight cough.

Vanessa looked at Amelie's hand with uncertainty, and remained firmly careful about accepting it.

"Even if I could help you find him," she replied, still backing away. "How do I know you won't just hurt him? Or worse?"

Vanessa wasn't overly attached to the guy, but she didn't just want to turn him in to some agency she knew nothing about.

"He wouldn't have run so much if it was just going to be cuddles and rainbows all the time. And I'm handling my powers just fine," she said. It was true; she'd barely had to focus to stay in form now. Maybe it was just all the adrenalin in her system, maybe it was her having to choose...

Amelie frowned and pulled her hand back. "Do you not see the damage he can do? Not to mention he is mentally unstable. He shot a citizen, something someone from the government would never do. We are here to protect the citizens, not hurt them." Amelie, along with most government agents never wanted to hurt the citizens. She would admit that there were some in in their program that had no problem killing an inocent but they were also under strict orders and close watch to make sue they didn't.

(would you guy mind if I added another character? He isn't an agent.)

(I dont mind but i dont know about the others)

Kai got up and tapped the illusion boy on the shoulder. "Im hungry and i have a friend i want to meet," he grinned, "just warning you she is a badass and will easily kick your ass," Kai added as he slung his jacket across his shoulders and pulled his hat down low.

(I'm cool with it ^.^)

Vanessa's defiance waned slightly. She had seen, and personally experienced, some of the chaos that the guy required to live on and created. Maybe having him off the streets would be helpful... But turning him in seemed cruel.

"None of it matters," she replied finally. "Even if I wanted to help you, I have no idea where he is. I only just met the guy, it's not like he took me home."

Amelie cursed. She started to think. Well he did try to protect her anyway. Maybe I could use her to my advantage. She smiled. "Come with me anyway. If you help me anyway I know a place where you will be safe." She didn't know why she did not want to turn in this girl. Honestly Amelie didn't want her in the government's clutches. She was far to innocent to go through what Amelie did.

((I don't mind.))

Xavier lifted his head tiredly, having actually fallen asleep at the table, before yawning and dragging himself to his feet to follow Kai. "You know, I can hold my own in a fight," he said quietly, only loud enough for him and Kai to hear. "And may I ask who your badass friend is? The last friend you brought me to did impromptu surgery on me."

Kai laughed, "she is called Caitlin and she is a f***ing badass. She can beat the s*** out of me and easily out of you, i suggest that you keep your manners and dont piss her off." Kai grinned as they walked towards her apartment. "She also has an assortment of weaponry and instruments of chaos creating torture. Kai was excited. He got to play with Caitlins toys, finally.

Xavier rolled his eyes, though it wasn't noticeable due to the hood. "What are manners? Government doesn't teach those," he joked, then paused and tugged on Kai's sleeve as they passed a cafe, pulling the other boy inside. "Come on, I need sugar." He stated simply and smiled charmingly to the girl behind the register, his hair and eyes darkening before hand to appear a dark brown. "Hi, can I have something sweet with lots of caffeine? I'll give you an extra ten if you can get it out now," he smiled and pulled a crisp twenty dollar bill out and slid it across the counter, the girl taking it and coming back a few seconds later with a hot drink. "Thanks," Xavier said and winked before walking out, sighing happily and letting his eyes and hair fade back to normal. "It's an illusion," he told Kai to fill the silence, and pulled out a piece of plain white paper, small and thin enough to be a bill. Rather quickly, it changed into a very real looking five with all the watermarks and everything. "The money will go back to paper in about half an hour, but by then it's too late."

Vanessa looked the lady up and down uneasily.

"Oh, you 'know a place where I'd be safe'. huh? I thought you said you'd let me go." she said, still not trusting her. Plenty of people used a smile to get what they wanted, and plenty of times it had left Vanessa at a disadvantage.

Amelie rolled her eyes. "Fine. If you are going to be like that." She faced the palm of her hand at the girl. She sighed. "I'm actually going to have to do my job. I have the girl in my site." Amelie said the last part into her headset. It took her a moment to remember that Xavier shut his off. Now she had to deal with a defected agent, a psychopath, and this girl. She shot ice needles at her.

A boy sat in the back of the coffee shop Xavier and Kai exited from. He was sipping his coffee with his eyes closed. When the door opened he opened them revealing bright blue yes. He watched Xavier order his drink. His eyes following the other boy. When Xavier exited her got up, leaving some change on the table and followed out with his hands in his pant pockets. (He is a character in my character's list. His name is Alec)

Vanessa focused as she deformed herself, the ice needles going straight through her, but doing only leaving behind a tingling sensation, rather than actual damage.

"I knew it..." she thought bitterly to herself as she ran forward, grabbing the lady by the mouth and slamming her into the ground.

Black veins were flowing into Vanessa's eyes again as she glared violently at the female, positioning her own weight on top of her.

"Your... not... taking... me... anywhere..." Vanessa growled, her fingers digging into the lady's flesh.

Something pushed at Vanessa's mind, but the thought seemed too cruel and she pushed it away again. Now wasn't the time... Was it?

Amelie's body hardened with ice right before the impact. Her eyes were wide at the speed of the girl, not to mention the strength to knock her down. So her body can liquify itself. That means I have to prevent it from doing so. If Amelie could freeze Vanessa body it could prevent her from deforming herself. But how would she do it? Amelie winced at Vanessa fingers starting to crack the ice. It was at that point she started to panic, though her face nor eyes, gave it away. Her mouth was covered making it harder for her to breath and the fingers would soon dig into her flesh. In her panic, a layer of ice started to cover the flooring around her. It was at this moment she knew her calculations for fighter her were wrong.

Vanessa watched the ice forming on the ground with now completely black eyes. Her head tilted to one side as she realised what the lady was trying to do.

"Ah-ah-ah...." Vanessa growled, her voice somewhat distorted, as if by another presence.

The centre of her palm began to liquify, drops of black liquid seeping between the lady's lips. The moment it was inside the female's mouth, the fluid slipped down her throat, trying to infiltrate her system.

"Time for some fun...." Vanessa hissed.

Kai laughed quietly. He then took Xavier to Caitlin's home. Instead of knocking on the door he took the grate off a drain hole in the street. "When we were kids we used special entrances like these," Kai explained as he jumped down, "if you could kindly make us look like construction workers? Thanks." Inside there was a little tunnel that led to a door way. Kai pushed a button and a piano popped out of the wall. He played a quick tune and the door opened into Caitlin's room. "Obsessed with gadgets as well," he said.

The room was huge. Although Caitlin's home was tiny, most of it was underground. There Caitlin was, sitting at her huge desk, typing away at a computer that was attached to a strange looking device. When she heard him enter she turned around. Caitlin was one of those girls who could be very pretty, but didn't care about her looks. She was a very boy like girl. She had hazel, long hair with an emo-like fringe. She was wearing a T-shirt with Hacker printed on the front and an image of a computer. "Long time no see," Kai said and hugged his old friend, "too long, too long," she replied. "So why are you here Kai," she said looking around the room. The walls were covered in all sorts of weapons and gadgets. "Top secret stuff," Kai said with a wink, "I'll need you to swear on your heart that you will keep it secret." Caitlin drew an X on her heart. "Governments after us," he whispered, "gonna need some hacking s*** and some pretty f***ing powerful stuff," Caitlin laughed. "Kai, stuff like that can blow on you in an instant." Grinning Kai took a step back and raised his hands above his head. "Does it look like I give a f***!"

Xavier quickly complied, making them look like they had vests and hard hats and weren't two teenagers before they dropped into the hole. He raised an eyebrow at the piano lock and tried not to laugh. "Willy-Wanka-isk much?" he joked but followed Kai in through the door anyways. The room wasuch bigger than he had anticipated, and also had a lot of things he didn't even know what they did hanging on the walls. He had noticed Caitlin immediately, but Xavier let Kai take all the attention and kinda just faded into the background to browse the items on the wall. Not literally faded -even though he could do that if he wanted- but it was shockingly easy for people's attention to be redirected away from him so he wasn't noticed. The girl's last comment made him look over though and scowl lightly at Kai. "If I have an opinion in this I'd rather not blow up."

"Spoilsport," Kai chuckled. "Dont worry hun, i have the thing for you," Caitlin said and took a pistol looking object off the wall. The handle inserts several small needles into your palm. Using the properties from your blood it magnifies your power via several part- ." Kai nudged Caitlin, "oh, right english," she laughed, "magnifies your power basically, and it will hurt when you use it," she handed the gun to Xavier.."try it out,"Kai said.

Now panic was showing on Amelie's face. She struggled and eventually was able to press and hold 2 on her phone. That was the emergency line. One press, the government sends another agent out to help. They better be stronger than me. Though I highly doubt that. Because of her panic layers of ice was spreading, not attacking, all over the ally and its walls. Amelie closed her eyes for a moment. She started to choke on the fluid that was being forced into her. She then heard a howl. How could she ave forgotten about that! Forming from the ice on her floor, and panic, the wolf lunged at Vanessa.

Alec had followed Xavier and Kai from a safe distance, as to not be seen or sensed. Once they entered the home he pulled out of the shadows. "I guess I did sense two more gifted in the city." He already knew about Kai but Xavier was not one he knew. Maybe I should go find the other one. This one doesn't seem to be the one destroying most of the city.

Vanessa felt the beast slam into her shoulder, sending her sprawling away from the lady, sliding across the frozen ground. The wolf found its footing before her and Vanessa barely managed to throw herself out of its path as it leapt for her again.

Meanwhile, the liquid had done its job, worming its way through the female's bloodstream and into her brain. There it would lie dormant, waiting, until Vanessa needed to use it.

As of the moment, Vanessa was pre-occupied. This animal didn't give her a moment to catch her breath before it lunged at her again and she was forced to do the same, meeting the wolf mid-air as they crashed in a tussle to the ground. The animal's claws ripped at her, but she managed to keep her torso fluid enough that they simply passed through her like water.

Xavier looked at the gun skeptically, but shrugged and set his coffee down before taking the weapon. He looked across the room to an empty part of the wall and held the gun out. True to the other two's word, sharp needles bit into his skin and made him flinch slightly. Refocusing on the wall, he made several illusion dummies that looked suspiciously like Kai, taking aim and shooting them all in between the eyes for a perfect kill shot. They all dropped, and vanished when they hit the ground. Walking over, gun still in hand, Xavier looked at the unharmed wall behind where the dummies were and blinked in confusion. "Those were solid," he said quietly and in amazement. His illusions were never solid, only images, and that's why he had to carry a gun and blade in the first place. Because his monsters, no matter how scary, couldn't physically hurt. Until he had the gun from Caitlin, that is. Smiling, he turned back around looking like a kid with a new toy. "Ok, I'm admitting it, this is awesome."
