Fantasy Those That are Hunted

"Good," Kai smiled, he didn't want to kill the boy, "i haven't finished with you," he laughed. Kai then walked up to Xavier. He then stood on Xaviers wound and laughed, "nowhere near done."

Xavier looked down at where Kai was standing, then back up at Kai, a smirk slowly forming. "You don't get it, do you? This is my world, and you can't do anything to hurt me. I, on the other hand, can do plenty of things to you." He smirked and snapped his fingers. Not a second later the surface tension of the water broke and they both started sinking, but a small bubble of air surrounded Xavier and he sank at a controlled pace on a turtle so he could stay sitting. "See, I won't feel any pain in here, but you can experience anything. How's it feel like, not being able to breath?"

Kai was determined not to give in. It was painful but Kai contained his feelings, telling himself it wasn't real. "Why do you have me in this illusion anyway? I thought you wanted to be free... i am disappointed."

Xavier laughed a bit and closed his eyes, opening them several seconds later to see him and Kai in a park, both perfectly dry and breathing. "Payback," Xavier said and stood up from the ground, walking over to a swing set and sitting on one of the swings. "I didn't like being choked before, and I don't like being choked now." Pushing off the ground, he swung slowly and didn't go very high. "But I told your girlfriend before, if I had a perfect world we'd all walk free as birds."

Kai scoffed when he used the term girlfriend. "You trying to taunt me?" Kai laughed "you're gonna have to do much better than that." Kai walked over to a bush and started peeing on it, "if you want us to walk free, why are you with the government?" Kai finished and zipped his pants up, turning to Xavier he said, "where can i wash my hands?" Kai laughed at all the questions he asked

Xavier rolled his eyes and flicked his wrist, a small geyser of water bubbling from the ground. "I just assumed who she was, don't take any offense. You were the one dragging her around and holding her hand," he pointed out like a child would. "As for why I'm with the Gov., well, let's just say it was a situation like you got yourself into. Minus shooting an agent of course. They had a mean bastard back then who broke my best Glock."

Amelie touched his cheek. He seemed so fragile now. Like he would break underneath her touch. "You were the one who kept me going in this cruel world. I'm sorry." She whispered. Picking up her sword in her other hand, she thrust it into his chest. Staring to cry after words.

Eloarch felt it, the very moment the cold ice pierced his skin, cut through his insides like butter, and came out the back. It wasn't an altogether unpleasant feeling. Unlike an actual blade, the wound was cold, then numb, as if it didn't exist. But, nevertheless, there was indeed a gaping hole in his body. At this realization, Eloarch's body went into shock, although his mind was a different story; it had been so since he'd allowed anything harmful or painful to get within a few meters of him, let alone wound him, that he found it an almost comical sight to behold the grievous nature of his injury. But, through all of this, he could sense his life slowly vacating his body. Loosing consciousness fast, he used the last of his strength to give Amelie a smile, whispering shakily, "No, I'm sorry. Sorry that I couldn't stay longer to protect you and others in this cruel world. I guess I'm just too selfish. I would ask you to do it again sometime, but... this really is the end, isn't it? We never got our... next.. time..." he trailed off as he finally gave in, his vision receding into darkness. He really was very sorry; his last thought was that he never wanted her to have to live with his death...

Of course, that was just his last thought. The other side of him had more to say. 'Well, aren't you happy now? No need to put up a facade now; we both know you're a selfish son of a b**ch. Admit it. You're happy that you don't have to deal with all the s**t that complicated your life.' And, it was true. Eloarch felt a certain amount of freedom now that the burden of living had been lifted from his shoulders. With a calm, resigned voice, he said conversationally, 'Hey. Do you think I'll have to deal with you in the afterlife? You know, if there is one?' His other half replied as if Eloarch was crazy. 'If there is one? Does it matter? By your logic, they wouldn't let a monster like us in anyway.' But, then, it seemed the other half had had enough. 'That's it. What is this? We, who were like gods to those people, are going to die by the hands of a simpering girl who had to be begged to end us? Hell no. You might not like it, but I'm part of you, and I don't intend on dying for quite a while.' Eloarch had no clue what he was on about, but he didn't really care; death had made him somewhat complacent. 'Yeah, yeah. Do whatever you'd like.' In the real world, Eloarch's body slumped forward, dead, on the ice blade, his blood curiously never seeping out of his body...

Kai walked over and washed his hands. "Why don't you leave? Join me and be free?" Kai said approaching him, "it'll be fun, imagine us together, you could fuel me, easy!" Kai's eyes lit up.

Xavier laughed lightly then waves hi hand, the water disappearing before he starts swinging himself slowly again. "I'm chipped," he explains, pointing to his right arm. "Of course, they never told me I was, but I figured it out pretty fast the first time they tracked me down not an hour after I left. Not that was something to see." He laughed again, truly enjoying the memory of agents and SWAT swarming the small cafe in downtown Vegas, all for a little albino boy drinking coffee. "But I wouldn't join you either way. Not a big fan of hurting people without reason."

"You don't have to hurt," Kai explained, "you see i need chaos to live, so a little bit of fear here and there will keep me alive. And well if you're tough enough i know a guy who could remove it, no painkillers or shit like that though."

Amelie's body slumped. Her hands reached to hold his. In the depression she hadn't really took in the thought about blood not coming out. She thought it was just because that she pierced him with her ice that it did not bleed. Eventually the sword cracked and shattered. Eloarch's body fell his head landing on her lap. She sat there for a while like that. Just staring at the one person she had truly grown to care for. After a while the tears had stopped falling. "Xavier..." She spoke through the headset. "Eloarch is dead. I'm calling someone in to retrieve the body." Her voice was cold, reverting back to the way she was before she knew the man on her lap. Amelie punched a button on her phone before getting more comfortable. She would sit here till they came and took the Eloarch's body from her.

Xavier rolled his eyes and stopped his swing. "Dude, you just shot me in the leg and I didn't scream or anything. If you could miraculously unchip me and get the watch off without me dying in the process, I'd be willing to go with you." He looked over at Kai, briefly wondering if he was tricking him for his own gain. "I find out you're using me and I'll kill you though."

"Boss, we got a call from an agent. Says someone named Eloarch is dead. She's asking for a retrieval team for the body. Orders?" a smartly dressed man asked from his seat at a nondescript terminal. The dark room that he was in housed hundreds of these terminals, all lined up and currently occupied by men and women dressed in black, tapping away at their computers. The warehouse itself was in an undisclosed location; officially, this building, the employees, and the project it housed did not exist. But, there was no denying the look of surprise on the face of a grizzled old man, wearing a highly decorated military uniform, who was the long-time head of what had come to be called "Project Gifted". 'Well, well... I didn't think we'd get him back this early... Hopefully his body's is in good condition; perhaps the scientists can see if he's more useful in death that in life.' he mused as he let a small smile grace his face. "That body is a high priority target. I want our best retrieval team sent out immediately. Reroute all security units in the surrounding sectors to guard until arrival. I want that corpse in my custody before dinner. Is that understood?" he barked. He wondered what award he'd get for this. After all, he was about to get back the government's most prized missing asset.

And so it was that within hours, squadrons of armored vehicles had arrived at the scene, with paramilitary soldiers shuffling out in hoardes. A woman dressed in a black blazer and suit stepped out of one of the multiple helicopters that had landed. "Alright, let's go people. I need this area secured and the situation contained. Move it!" she shouted, clearly the leader of the group. She walked purposefully towards Amelie and looked at her with no sympathy. "Agent? I've got orders to take that body as property of the government. Also, I'm obligated to inquire as to what events transpired here today leading to the death of..." at this point, the lady trailed off. With an obvious look of disgust in her eyes, she continued, "Ugh. That thing. Now, I've been told by the few remaining bystanders that you were the one who dispatched that monster. For that, I commend you. I'm also aware that that piece of s**t was once under our command, before it escaped to wreak havoc on the world. It's good that it is finally off the streets. Now, with the proper dissections and experiments, we can properly control the next beast that comes out of the woodworks." With a final salute to Amelie, she stalked away to call her superiors as large, burly men in black suits and sunglasses walked over to take Eloarch's body away.

Amelie barley heard the lady talking. All she could do was watch as they took Eloarch away. Her head snapped towards the woman's direction when she called Eloarch a piece of sh**t. That woman had no right to do so. "You shouldn't be talking." She stood up and walked towards her. "You know," Amelie opened her palm to play with the shards of ice in her hand. "I don't believe you have a right to be talking down on a gifted. Unless you are, of course, one your self." Her palm faced down and the shards shot towards the ground. The ground turning to ice where they landed. Amelie was more than angry right now. She was pissed. She wasn't going to hurt the woman, no. Maybe tell some lie to get her demoted to watching over the prisons where those like her are held. Or maybe just get her fired. They did have gifted that can erase memories and/or change them working for the government. All depends on her answer. She doesn't have the right to talk to me like I am her equal or the right to talk about Eloarch like he was of lower rank. Her eyes narrowed.

Vanessa woke up in an alley, a few blocks away from where the fighting had taken place. She had kept walking and walking, but the strain had become too much for her, and she had passed out for a while. Regardless of whether those agents were still after her or not, being aware of the dangers and being alone made her sense of security disappear in a flash. Could she risk going home? Could she even stay in the same city?

Vanessa sat up with a groan and rubbed her temples. She needed to formulate a plan. And soon.

"Then get me out of this illusion and ill take you too my friend". I ly down and close my eyes waiting to be transported out of the illusion. Kai hated the feeling after an illusion.

"Fine fine, just don't try to jump up when you get out," Xavier said sternly, not wanting to have to be in charge of a vomiting or unconscious gifted kid. Closing his eyes, Xavier took a deep breath and focuse on the world outside before snapping his eyes open and looking at Kai, both still in the hallucination. "Ok, adding something else, there's people outside -lots of people- and my best guess is that they're agents. I won't be able to walk right, so you've gotta help me, ok? Ok, good," he said quickly, then closed his eyes and let the park melt away.

The dull throb in his leg was the first thing Xavier felt, then the sound of people chattering away. Not in the middle school girl chatter way, but the incessant drone of orders being given to get something done. Opening his eyes, Xavier was greaful that he was out of sight from the Gov. agents. Kai was a few feet away, and Xavier brought himself to his feet as best as he could. "Come on then, best to get going," he whispered.

The power coming from Xaviers wound gave Kai enough power to lift Xavier and take him away. Kai then took him to his friend Jake's house which was near the park where he met the black blob girl. Kai barged through the door and lay Xavier down on a table. "Jake!" He yelled, "i shot someone!" Jake came running in, seconds later, with a bunch of tools and equipment, most of them sharp.

Xavier winced as he was carried, but more so embarrassed that he was being carried. When he was put down Xavier scowled and bit the inside of his cheek. "Damn you couldn't have been just slightly gentler, could you?" Looking over he saw Jake walk in with a bunch of sharp looking tools, then groaned and closed his eyes. "Good God you're mad," he said, pushing through the fog his mind was making and laughing somewhere between hysterics and pain.

The lady lowered her sunglasses to peer at Amelie with cold, professional eyes. "Excuse me? Agent, I am a high ranking officer in the United States Government. I can talk how I please." With a self-serving smirk, she added, "Unlike you, I worked my way here on my own merit, not on some genetic anomaly that makes me a freak. A useful freak, but one nonetheless. Why would I ever want to be like you." She replaced her sunglasses on her face, once again closing herself off from the rest of the world. Putting one hand and one foot on the helicopter as it began to take off, she shouted, "This body here is one monster dead! Don't become the next one I have to come clean up. Otherwise, you might end up like him; sad, alone, and unloved. But, most of all, very much dead." At that, the helicopter picked up speed and disappeared from the scene of the incident. With her departure, the soldiers hastened their acitivites, finishing up interrogating the nearby civilians and packing Eloarch's body into one of the armored vehicles none too gently. They, too, left soon thereafter, leaving Amelie standing in her patch of ice.

Amelie waited till they left before turning around to go look for Xavier. When he, and Kai, where not in the spot she left them she gave out a frustrated scream. She slammed a fist into the wall causing it to crack. Why is this happening to me now! She brought her hand back to her side and walked away. Amelie knew, without even looking that there was ice where her fist landed. Eloarch was right about his powers. In a way, right about most of the gifted's powers. She lifted up her hand and watched the ice crack and fall off. She had control of it. But some times she did not. Her ability protected her but lately she hasn't been able to stop it. It started to react to her emotions and she can't have that. First i need to find Xavier. Then I'm going to make sure that b**ch would get what's coming to her. Insulting a gifted is the worst thing she could have done. She knew Xavier had to be close by. He couldn't have made it far with the gun wound. "Xavier! Where are you?" She asked into the earpiece.

Xavier flinched at the loud yelling in his ear, pulling the device out and glaring at it. 'Why'd she have to call so soon?' he thought, then sighed and tried not to move his leg that much. "I can't talk right now, kinda busy," he said, glancing worriedly at the tools next to the table. "Call you back later." Turning the machine over in his hands, Xavier found the power switch and turned it off, effectively cutting off any transmissions the earpiece would get and give. He glanced down at his wrist where the watch was still firmly in place, knowing he would have to get it off soon but also knowing it took his bosses a while to find him. His best guess was that he had an hour, maybe a little more if luck was in his side, before they came and shipped him back to HQ.

Jake got to work using his tools fixing up the illusion boy. He patched up his wound and removed the tracking devices from his body. The pain surged into Kai's body and he felt himself growing more powerful. He smiled and walked into Jake's kitchen and helped himself to a glass of lemonade. Kai then took out the pistol and had a look at the mag. He inserted a new one and walked back to where Jake was doing the surgery.

Xavier kept biting his cheek throughout the whole procedure, finally opening his red eyes when it was over. Glancing down at his arm where the chip used to be, a neat little row of stitches was holding his skin together. The same was in his leg, and both the bullet and chip were laying in a small bowl off to the side. Reaching with his good arm Xavier grabbed the chip, looking at it for several seconds before snapping it in half and dropping the pieces into the bowl with a halfhearted, "Oops." A smirk played on his lips though, and he felt a little weight lift off his shoulders. He was one stupid watch away from freedom, and the tracker in it was slower, so they had a good three days before it really needed off, more if they moved. "Thanks man, I owe you," Xavier said, nodding at the Jake guy then looking over at Kai. "So what now?"
