Kai took his knee off the illusion boy's throat, allowing him to breath. Kai then put his knee on the boy's chest, still pointing the gun at the boy's head. "Hmm, you are taking too long," Kai smiled and twirled around shooting the civilian in the foot. The civilian fell down in pain, screaming and Kai felt the power surge into him. "Come on ice lady," Kai taunted, "you gonna let me shoot him again? Or maybe this time," Kai moved the gun over to the illusion boy's balls, "maybe these will be next," Kai laughed looked into the illusion boy's eyes. "Imagine losing these," Kai laughed, "would it be worse than death?"

Hearing the civilian cry out in pain Amelie snapped. The two swords formed in her hands again and she lunged at him. "And people call me a monster!" She yelled. Immediately after she lunged, ice layered itself on her skin to shield her if she got hit.

"Stop right there!" Kai yelled, "don't make me have to kill this boy," he moved the gun to his chest, over his heart. "Ironic don't you think? You sooner or later are going to break his heart, literally or metaphorically," Kai chuckled as her rage fueled him. "I'm the monster now, back down you little b**** before I have to break his heart for you." Kai winked devilishly as he pulled back the cock.

Xavier gasped in a lungful of air as soon as he could, breathing deeply to try and stay calm even as the gun was pointed at him. Panicking sounded like a brilliant idea to him, but a rational part of his brain reminded him that the crazy kid thrived off fear and panic.

"Don't shoot me, shoot her!" He said, gesturing as best as he could to Amilie then holding out his wrist with the tracker watch. "You think I wanna be here? Ha! As if." It wasn't far from the truth, not a lie either, but if it would stop the kid from shooting him it would help. Plus Amilie had her ice shields and the other guy to protect her, while Xavier was lying flat on the ground unable to do anything.

Vanessa watched in confusion as everyone seemed to turn on each other. She was feeling less and less safe by the second, but what was she supposed to do? She contemplated tackling her companion to the ground, but she couldn't be sure he wouldn't pull the trigger. Plus, she had the illusion guy's warning still in mind.

"CAN WE ALL JUST STOP THIS?!" she yelled in frustration. Maybe there was a slim chance they could work this out reasonably with slightly less violence.

"Shut up!" Kai yelled shooting the ground next to the illusion boys head, "get out of here!" Kai yelled, "ill handle this, run!" Kai c*cked the gun and pointed it again at the illusion boy's head.

Amelie contemplated on stopping the attack. Unfortunately there was always the threat of being hurt or even killed in their line of work. Kai was also a threat to the civilian population and that she was not going to stand for it. In a flash she jumped and slashed at Kai. I'm sorry Xavier.

'

Kai quickly saw what the ice girl was going to do so he shot the illusion boy in the leg. The chaos caused by the pain fueled Kai as he slashed by the ice girl. Kai took the hit and laughed. He then turned and shot the civilian in the other leg. More power surged into Kai so he stepped forward and smashed a punch into the ice shield around the girl.

Xavier stayed put on the ground, gritting his teeth and trying not to scream in pain. Looking down briefly, he saw the bullet had hit just a few inches above his left knee and was quickly covering the leg in blood as his heart raced. He put his head down and rolled over to avoid getting stepped on by the fight, causing a flash of more intense pain to come from his leg. Realizing he hadn't taken a breath, Xavier slowly took a deep breath then forced himself into a sitting position. With his jacket sleeve he tied it around his leg, helping the blood to stop. He backed up, being careful not not move his leg too much, until he bumped into a wall or something behind him and sat against it, briefly considering how filthy his hair was going to be.

Vanessa watched the illusion guy struggle to aide his wound, and figured she would be relatively safe from him for now. Using the distraction of the violence to her advantage, Vanessa bolted out from the alley, into the crowds of now scurrying people who ran from the sound of the gunshot.

"I can find him later and see if he's okay..." she thought to herself as she tried to immerse herself in the environment. A distinct pang of guilt echoed through her ribcage, but she wasn't sure why. He did punch her in the face. MULTIPLE TIMES. Yet she still couldn't shake the feeling that she was abandoning him. Which, really, she was.

Truth be told, Eloarch couldn't care less about the illusion boy or the civilian who was hurt. It's not that he was completely apathetic; true enough, he was rather irked by the hassle the crazy boy made. However, in terms of genuinely caring for those who'd been wounded, he wasn't much troubled. Noticing the girl escaping into the crowd, he prepared himself for a merry hunt. Yet, even in this state, when Amelie was attacked, Eloarch felt a strange tug in his mind that urged him to stay. And then, it happened. The voice talked to him again. The voice that had been dormant for so long, the voice he'd kept silent for so long by isolating himself. And now, due to this little flight of fancy due to his being rather taken by Amelie, it'd happened. This was exactly what the government scientists had warned him about during his childhood tenure as the government's plaything. "Now, remember. One day, we dont' know exactly when, but mark our words, one day, your powers will run rampant, and your body and mind will only be a vessel for a murderous, destructive monster." they'd said. That was the main reason he'd left the government, left that life behind... left Amelie alone.

'Do you like that girl? Why don't you take her then? Have her for your own?' the voice spoke maliciously. 'No! I have to stay away from her because of you!' he shouted within his own head. 'Me? Now why would you say that? If anything, I'm you, but bolder, more free, better. If it was me out there, she'd already be mine. Oh, could I show her a good time...' it said. 'Don't touch her, I swear. I'll -' Eloarch went to rebuke, but was cut off inside his own mind. 'Or what? You'll hurt me? Maim me? Maybe even... kill me? Hah, fool. I. Am. You. And you are me. Just look at the world around you. Pathetic creatures, humans. Even these so called gifted aren't up to part. They are, all of them, beneath you. So why don't you just let loose, and perhaps have a little fun once in a while?' The voice had changed from mocking to suggestive, as if encouraging Eloarch to commit untold atrocities. 'I already refused. There are rules in this world, both legal and moral. The strong are not to repress the weak. If anything, they're obligated to provide aid and refuge.' he argued, albeit half-heartedly. 'Don't feed me that hogwash. I am you, remember? Don't pretend to be such an idyllic hero character, because you're anything but. How many people have you killed, or watched being killed without so much as lifting a finger. No, I can tell, you desire only one thing: to get your way. And why not? If you listen to me, I'll grant all your wishes in an instant.'

With that, the voice disappeared, only to be replaced by a paralyzing feeling in all of Eloarch's extremities. It was then that he realized that he'd lost; not only had he lost control of his body, but he'd finally lost the last shred of his humanity that he'd tried so dearly to hang on to. When Eloarch next spoke, it wasn't his voice that came out of his mouth. It was the calm and collected voice of an uncaring mass murder, a psychotic monster, a force of nature gone out of control. "Hello there. I'm looking for a little entertainment. So, you see, it's time for us to play. Now, dance for me..." he spoke sadistically, with a maniacal laugh to boot. It sounded nothing like the true Eloarch from minutes before.

Kai then had a thought, if they really did want to bring him in, would they kill him, if he did hand himself in, they wouldn't be able to kill him. Kai grinned, plus if he handed himself in, no one would get hurt by the maniac flying dude. "Hey you, stupid flying maniac man," Kai yelled, "what if I decide to come with you, what would happen to me then?" Kai wanted to make sure before he went with them, "will you take me in peace or wrap me up in someones blood?"

Eloarch let out a cynical laugh. "Ah, yes, the crass one speaks. Let me tell you a secret of mine..." he leaned towards the boy as he spoke, as if whispering to him. Then, with a sudden flourish, he spread his arms and shouted, "I have no master! I'm no government dog! If anything, those drooling mongrels are my b**ches. I couldn't care less about recruiting you. The truth is, I'm just looking for some good ol' fashioned fun and debauchery." As Eloarch's face returned to his sadistic grin, he started letting his powers loose. Gravity started to get wonky as the vectors went out of control; cars and benches flew off the ground, lamp posts were ripped out of the ground, sidewalks began to fragment and float, buildings cracked, and even the blood on the ground started to float in globules. The wind started blowing in frenzy, going slowly in one direction one second, then reversing direction and picking up speed the next.

Putting a mocking finger to his chin, Eloarch pretended to think. "Hmmm... What game should we play? How about... Yes! Let's all play hide-&-go-seek! I'll go count to sixty. Then, I'll start looking for you. Now, run along and hide, little children. And, whatever you do..." He stopped and looked at them with a suddenly serious, vicious look on his face, his eyes glinting ominously. "Don't. Let. Me. Catch. You." As quickly as the serious mood had come, it was gone, and a maniacally laughing Eloarch walked up the side of the nearest building and left to go "count"; as he left, the gravity and wind in the area returned to normal, so everything crashed to the ground, leaving a rather devastated scene in his wake. In reality, his intention was to go after the girl. 'She didn't think she'd escape so easily, did she? After all, we haven't even finished our play date!' he thought twistedly to himself.

When Amelie heard Eloarch speak she froze. No it can't be. She halted her attack at Kai. This side of Eloarch was not the person she cared for. No now she was the man she feared he was going to become. In a way when he left, she knew this was the reason why. She just didn't want to believe that his gift would, in the end, become a curse. "Eloarch! Don't let him control you! This isn't what you are!" She yelled. The ground all around them turned ice. It did not help that the civilians who were running away from the scene were not slipping, and some even falling, on it. The ice wolf formed again next to her, this time bigger, like a dire wolf. "Kai I would run if I were you. As much as I'd love to bring you to my boss this is more important." She twirled the swords in her hands. Amelie never thought the day would come where she would have to hurt him. She would never want to hurt him. Amelie felt her eyes become wet. What? is this? The last time Amelie had cried was when the man in front of her left, and even then she did that in the secret of her room.

"What is it, little girl? Do you honestly think he's going to hear you? I'm in control, see?" Then, he lightly hit himself on the forehead. "My, my. Look at what nonsense you've got me spouting! What am I saying? I am me, aren't I? In that case, this most certainly is what he is, what I am, what we are. We are gods amongst you all!" he shouted with a deranged cackle. 'No! Stop now! I don't want to be this.' Eloarch shouted in his head, desperate to regain control of his body. Seeing Amelie get ready to fight, Eloarch's stomach took a dive. 'Please, don't fight her. You know she won't stop, she's determined like that. I'm beggin you, don't do this. You already know how this will end.' he pleaded with the side of him that was in control. It wasn't that he didn't have faith in Amelie's abilities; he'd been on the receiving end of more than a few reproachful attacks from her. Rather, he was concerned about how much this side of him would "let loose".

On the outside, none of this inner turmoil showed. "Oh, the girlie wants to play. Why not? I love a good duel. Actually, I retract what I said before. I'm no god; I'm a devil. I love no one, help no one, save no one. My purpose is to erase... completely." With that, he began to advance. As he did so, he increased the motion vectors of the ice under his feet, melting it and effectively creating a path for him directly to Amelie. With a glance in the ice wolf's direction and a nonchalant flick of his fingers, he lifted a car and brought it down on the Amelie's creation, shattering it into crystaline ice shards. "I'd rather not play with silly toys. In fact, unless I'm much mistaken, my other half would much rather play with you..." he said, licking his lips and then laughing at his own innuendo. Just as he was about to come within range of her ice swords, he fell to one knee. "Wha... What are d-doing? Stop this at once! I am in c-c-contro..." he choked out, clawing at his own head.

Suddenly, he looked up directly at Amelie, his eyes having lost their malicious edge; this was the real Eloarch speaking. "I... I'm so s-sorry, Amelie. I never wanted you to see me... like this. P-Please, forgive me. I am a monster, and there is only one way for me to end this now... But, I-I'm not strong enough to do it myself... I can't end myself. Y-you have to do it. An ice blade to the h-heart should do the t-trick." he rasped out. With a weak smile, he added, "You know, I really liked you. I thought I could try to be more... human for you, ya know? Guess it didn't work out. It seems once a monster, always a monster. Still, we had a pretty good run. Let's do it again sometime, yeah?" His last sentence echoed exactly the words he said to Amelie before he'd left her all alone to the government.

Vanessa struggled to her feet after the chaos one of the others had caused. It was as if everything had lost control, herself having fallen through a shop window. She groggily came to her senses as the female that had been after them seemed to challenge the insane-looking guy. Dozens of cuts and scratches littered Vanessa's skin and she winced in pain trying to stumble out of the shop. Taking a moment to clear her mind, Vanessa sighed and let herself sink into black goo, reforming afterwards with none of her debris or wounds, though the pain was still ringing through her body.

"I just need to run... Just get out of here..." Vanessa chanted to herself, stumbling out of the shop and down the street.

(sorry was having internet problems) Amelie's heart broke from that last sentence. Both her swords fell out of her hands as she dropped to her knees in front of him. It was her duty to kill him now while she could. But I don't think I can. Her mind wondered back to how they first met. She had already been working for the government for about a year. Bringing in new agents and taking out those who didn't want to. She had fully been able to to control her powers by that time. She had been through many partners, all wanting to switch because of how cold she was, metaphorically and literally. He was the only one who was able to get her to open up. Caught in her memories, a breeze went by, her hair blowing against her face. It was at that moment she realized how quiet it had gotten and it snapped her out of her memories. Remembering the situation she was in, she hesitantly, reached for Eloarch's hand and held it. "You were never a monster to me. You can fight this."

Xavier watched numbly at the interactions going on around him, but couldn't quite put together what exactly was happening. 'Blood loss,' a rational part of his brain spat out the information, but again it didn't translate right in his brain. He saw Amelie standing her ground not against the chaotic kid that shot him, but the guy she had came in with. 'What the Hell?' He thought for a moment, then saw the kid standing off to the side. Throwing a final glance at Amelie and her "boyfriend", he decided that she could fight her own battles before focusing on the kid with the gun and pulling them into a hallucination.

When he opened his eyes, Xavier and the kid were standing on an expanse of water, somehow not sinking through the surface. Sighing in exhaustion and relief, Xavier sat down as the pain in his leg subsided to a dull throb. The coma type stat would help slow the blood loss, and he could focus on something other than pain."They'll probably make a deal with you if you turn yourself in," he said after several seconds, watching bright fish swim under him. "You haven't killed anyone yet, and it's a good power you've got, so the most they might do is chip you after a month or so of staying inside." He glanced up to see if the kid had moved. "I'm Xavier by the way. You are?"

"This is bullshit," Kai walked up to the boy and pointed his gun to his chest. "Will this do the trick?" Kai asked, "dont stop me ice woman," he glared at the ice lady, "ill handle this, you dont need to watch."

At hearing Amelie's words, Eloarch gave a wistful laugh. "That's true. No matter what those power-hungry government bureaucrats said, you never listened to the drivel they told you... including what they said about me. Only you saw me as anything but a monster to be used and disposed of." The voice had died down in his head. It seems that proximity to Amelie calmed him. 'Well, she always did manage to have an effect on me." he thought in passing. "Unfortunately, they were right this time. I may not want to be monster, but I am. Can't you tell, even now, after everything I've done? I just can't fight it. You know, they said this power would be my end. I thought they were talking about that other side of me. But, turns out they knew all along..." Under no circumstances did Eloarch plan on telling her this, but right now, with her being so open with him, he couldn't help it. "These powers of mine are killing me, literally. Symptoms showed up about six months ago, although I had an inkling since before I left. It's aggressive, and so far as I can tell... it's pretty much terminal. So, I figure, I'd rather you kill me as a monster that no one will miss, than let me become something important to someone, only to have them watch as I wither away." At that moment, a fit of coughing racked his body, and touched his mouth only to find blood. With a disdainful smile, he added, "God, I'm pathetic. See? Just a little skirmish and I'm beat." The Eloarch in front of Amelie was nothing like the one of years past; the contrast between the once funny, confident, seemingly invincible progenitor of the gifted and the humorless, self-loathing, weak individual now was startling.

Kai spat at the boys feet. "Should of shot your balls off," he snapped. Kai then shook Xaviers hand, "the names Kai, remember it, when im on the news you'll know its me," Kai laughed. "Now, are you gonna f***in die yet!?"

Xavier didn't even glance at the spit, taking Kai's hand and shaking it before leaning back to watch Kai. A small smile graced Xavier's features and he laughed a little. "Man, you are a violent son of a b****, aren't you? No, I'm not going to die. At least I don't plan on it for another ten years or so," he shrugged, looking down to see a group of turtles swim under them. "Your shot was badly placed to be considered fatal. A pain, yes, but will by no means will it kill me."
