This is it, the apocalypse 1x1

It took a while, oh say, fifteen minutes. To be honest Aiden hadn't expected the other to sit around that long after that. But he did, and it probably wasn't worth it because Aiden was terrible with words "I don't hate you." The most useful thing he could think of, which was kind of sad let's not lie. He wasn't someone who could easily admit all that was swirling around in his head, and what he'd said wasn't all of it naturally, but he assumed it was enough to ease the other. The worst of his worries was false. Of course, now he had a thousand new things going on under all of that raven hair, and he would probably get about as much sleep as Gabriel did thinking about it. Maybe he'd spill it all, or maybe he wouldn't, he wasn't sure. Aiden was not a man to admit feelings. That was that. Well, sort of, he wasn't one to admit feelings easily, just like his thoughts, they all came together in a nest of secrets.

He could feel all of Aiden's emotions swirling around in the air. It was one of Gabriel's defining gifts...he was the messenger. and usually, whatever human he'd be delivering the message to, it was easier to know what to say if he knew what they were feeling. But Aiden...Aiden couldn't even make sense of his own feelings, let alone have them clear enough for Gabriel to discern between any of them. So he wanted to help. He moved toward where he'd heard the voice, knowing the man could see him, and held out his hand. "Take it...trust me. Please. I know what I'm doing..."

-----

Alec woke to a searing pain in his jaw. He groaned, and leaned, and ended up falling off the table onto his face. He could move...barely...Gabriel had done something to him. His lower body refused to cooperate. he shook his head, struggling to sit up, before he rubbed his jaw and looked around frantically. "Where...where am I? What's going on?" He felt like he;d been drugged. His words were slurred, his eyelids drooped, and he had a headache. It was like being drunk - in hell.

Aiden turned his head at the sudden movement, he could see the extended hand a distance away. Take it should he? He narrowed his eyes at it. He apparently knew what they were doing when they got here and now look where they were. In an attic, a damp attic, trying to figure one and other out. Or, rather, that was a one sided feeling. Aiden didn't need to figure him out, his words were enough but...Fine, he'd take the damn hand, if he wanted him to so badly. The hybrid shifted, getting up, only to sit back down in front of the other. Last time he'd taken his hand they were transported to another level. He hoped it would be better this time and, with about the same amount of trust he'd last time, he took the other's hand.

"Oh ho, sleeping beauty's awake. How'd you sleep? You've only been out for, oh say an hour. You're in my house, dirtying up my table no less." Matthias looked down at the teen, who was flopping around like a fish out of water. Such an odd one he was. He'd crossed his arms by that point and stared down with displeasure, that one eye narrowed at him. He didn't want to know what Gabriel had done to him, he already knew that it was good enough to keep him down.

Gabriel took a deep breath, trying to relax himself. He wouldn't have the room to absorb what he needed to if his own feelings were crowding his mind space. He turned the other man's hand over in his own, so his palm and fingertips brushed against the back of Aiden's hand. He closed his eyes, bowing his head as he concentrated, feeling the slight coldness in his own palm ebb away as Aiden's warmth reached his skin. He cleared his mind, and reached out mentally, instead, to the raven haired man, feeling his frustration, his confusion - everything. Gabriel didn't waste time trying to sort through them all. He just focused on the stressful ones, the grating thoughts that scratched against the minds of most of humanity, the ones that if they grew big enough could wreak havoc. And he eased them.

It was as if the thoughts were left behind, but any mental anguish was being sucked away, or at least most of it. He looked up, his green eyes gloaing faintly as he finished.

-----------

"Wha...who are you? Where is...where is Gabriel?!" He looked confused, utterly confused, as if he had woken up in a dream and couldn't figure out where or why any of this was happening. He tried to kick, but only managed to get his foot to twitch. Frustrated, he lurched up and grabbed in to the bottom of Matthias's jacket, trying to pull himself up. "What did you do to me?"

Aiden cocked his head, too busy staring at his own hand. He felt like he's forgotten something, but he could remember what. It was still there but for the most part it faded away. This only left him with his new found questions, to which he shoved in the back of his mind. Pushed them under the locks and threw away the key until further notice. He didn't want to think about it now, didn't want to think about it until he was comfortable with whatever it was he was feeling. And he wasn't, not yet at least. He didn't know what to make of it. Mental or physical Aiden ran away from things like these. A fight against another he could do, a fight against himself? He always lost.

"I didn't do anything, you can blame yer dad for your current condition. Unhand the jacket, I don't need your dirty highblood hands all over it." Matthias swatted the hands off his jacket and stepped back, watching the other struggle against whatever magic had been put on him. It was, sad he guessed. He might've felt bad but Aiden would kill him if he so much as tried to make the other comfortable. The hybrid may have been tiny, but he was vicious.

"Better?" Gabriel asked, tilting his head to the side, studying the man across from him. He was still holding on to the hand, and he let go slowly, missing the heat but not wanting his touch to bother Aiden. He sat there, breathing softly, unsure where to go from there. He could just barely make out Aiden's features in front of him through the darkness, though he had to squint to do so.

------

After a while, Alec just gave up, and lay still. He was angry, that much was obvious. And he was hurt. But there was no point in struggling against his father's...magic? Whatever it was. His eyes narrowed as he stared at the ceiling in frustration. "I've seen you before," he said after a few more moments, the realization hitting him quite randomly.

Aiden coughed, awkwardly at that, though he made it out to be him clearing his throat "Better. Thanks." It wasn't a lie, he did feel better, for the moment. That was true enough. He could focus more clearly on better things now, but that would have to wait until later. Until he was alone, or until he could consult his friend on it without the fear of others listening in. That...Probably wouldn't be for a while of course.

Matthias had gone to leaning against the wall, eye closed, waiting for Gabriel and Aiden to return. It was only when Alec spoke up that he chuckled bitterly "Ahh, you don't forget a man with one eye that easily, I imagine." He muttered. He was once, and probably still is, the old one eyed water crazy pirate wanna be. Its more than that though, it's much more, but he couldn't change people's minds if he could...But for the record, he was not that old.

Slowly, Gabriel stood, trying not to hit his head on anything as he backed away, making out the small cracks of light in between the floor and the door located within it. He figured he'd leave the man alone for now. If he wanted to come back down, the angel would let him do it on his own time, hos own decision. Besides...Gabriel still had Alec to deal with. The spell wasn't going to last for long, as an angel's magic on a Nephillim - a half angel - wasn't going to last as long as it usually would.

------

Alec opened his mouth to ask another question, but froze a the sound of footsteps. He craned his neck to try and look behind him, and tensed when he realized who it was. Too furious and humiliated to speak, Alec stared up at the ceiling, refusing to acknowledge him until whatever crap storm had affected his body wore off.

Aiden waited until he'd fully left to let out a breath, or rather a rough breath. He wasn't sure if it was from tension release or if he'd been holding his breath the whole time, but it felt good. Like letting the air back into his lungs. He looked around, perking up when he found what he'd been looking for but had been to lazy to get to. Pathetically, he crawled over to the worn mattress, but those were the best kind. They sunk right in with your weight. He laid on his side, back to the hatch as he closed his eyes.

Matthias perked up when he heard the footsteps, but slid back down when Aiden wasn't with Gabriel. Well, fair enough, if the boy needed just that much more alone time he would give it to him- But he wasn't going to stick his nose where it didn't belong. Now that Gabriel was back, Matthias moved to the small, warm black smith like area in the back of his house behind a couple doors. He made weapons, that much was true, but they were small and nothing fancy- except for the ax...And that's what he was after.

"I didn't take your sister."

Alec opened his mouth to protest and/or refute the man's words, but Gabriel held up a hand. "No - You're going to let me talk, if you ever want to be able to walk again," he said pointedly, and the boy nodded, shutting his mouth with a clear blue glare. Gabriel pulled him up, ignoring his protests, before then angel began to speak.

"Alright, Alec - I'm guessing you go by Alec?" he asked, and the teen nodded silently back at him. Gabriel took a deep breath, before delving into the monologue he'd gone over a million times in his head.

Aiden had sat there with his eyes closed for a while. A long while. But he knew he wasn't getting any sleep. That question, that dammned question, was keeping him up. He needed someone to consult. Naturally, he crawled towards the floorboards, rippied one up silently, and slipped into the ceiling. He stopped, briefly, at the sound of voices...No, not the right voice. He kept moving, soundlessly until the heat came up and seared against his face. Found him. He ripped the ceiling board up and jumped down, landing in front of Matthias in time to get the little specks of flame coming off the ax he was...Strengthening? Aiden assumed that's what he was doing. The man looked at him, then up at his ceiling "Ya couldn't have taken the stairs, mate?"

"I didn't want to be seen."

"Fair enough, what is it you need?"

"When someone says they like you-" He was cut off, Matthias started laughing, and going down. He had to hold on to the giant anvil to keep himself from going to his knees. A few moments later, he was back up "Are you done?" Aiden asked, irritated that he wasn't going to get his answer easily "Probably not, mate."

"Mum's dead, you know," Alec said quietly after Gabriel had finished. He stared at the ground, head bowed as he heard his father's sigh from next to him. "He killed her. He let her live long enough to tell me who I was, just long enough to think I was normal - and then he killed her right in front of me, and said it was because of you."

Gabriel looked up at this, looking at Alec but the teen still had his head down, leaning on his knees solemnly. "Because of me...?"

"You left him. You and Michael. And he was angry...he killed my mother because of what you did! If you hadn't left - "

"I thought you were dead, ok?! She told me you were dead. You don't know everything Alec, as much as you'd like to think you do, so would you just cut me some slack here?"

Aiden glared down at Matthias, who was on the floor snorting, he sat back up "Ok, ok, tell me again."

"No."

"Oh come on Aiden, I'll be serious this time. Say it in his voice too." Matthias smirked, Aiden took a spare dagger and threw it at him rather than glared it at him, he caught it with ease "Alright alright. I get it mate. Just ask me again." He said, tossing the dagger to the side "What does it mean when someone says they like you?" He asked, more seriously than the first time, more annoyed than the first time "It means they like you." Matthias said, as if Aiden wasn't getting it "Which one?" He asked, Matthias cocked a brow "Like you or like like you?" Matthias couldn't help it, he started laughing again, Aiden's face turned about at red as the fire before he stomped off to find a weapon "Like like? Are we children again?" Matthias looked up in time to roll out of the way of the ax that came down "Hey, no fair, that's my weapon." He said, scrambling out of the way of another aimed hit.

"I don't want to talk about this. I thought...no. I just want to get my sister," Alec growled, just about as done with the situation as his voice indicated he was. He kicked out again, and his leg moved accordingly this time. No longer restricted, the dark haired teen stood, not even looking at Gabriel as he headed for the door, snatching up his bow and quiver beforehand. As the door slammed shut, Gabriel groaned and brought his head down on the table - hard. He'd screwed up. Again. Figures, with his kind of luck. The boy was just as stubborn as he was.

Tera. He would help find Tera...it was the least he could do, and the angel wasn't going to take no for an answer.

"Which one is it?!"

"I don't know!"

Aiden slammed the ax down between Matthias's legs, barely missing the spot that could've possibly hurt a lot more than Matthias needed. The one eyed man stared, the let his head fall back and sighed in relief "Why don't you aim a little higher?" Matthias hissed, Aiden glared at him from the anvil, to which he'd taken refuge on "Don't you dare think, not for one second, that I'll miss next time." He said, Matthias shrunk where he sat, then quickly got to his feet, dusting himself off "Why don't you as-"

"Never."

"You're embarrassed."

"And you're dead." Matthias blinked before ducking, narrowly escaping the sword chucked at him.

Gabriel winced as the burning tip of the stele dragged through his skin over yet another rune. The shape of the eye became even more stark against his hand as he want back over it, his blue blood shining from the lines of the wound. He did remember Meccah. The woman had been his salvation, his redemption...or so he'd thought.

He'd trusted her. He recalled her intelligent sapphire eyes, the light curls of her red hair, her touch on his wings...she'd always been so infatuated with him. If only he'd known that it had been directed in what he could do for her rather than his actual self. But...then he didn't know what love was. Couldn't tell if it was obsession, admiration, infatuation - or a mixture of all of them. He still wasn't sure exactly. He'd seen what it was supposed to look like of course. But not what It was supposed to feel like.

"Aiden get out of there."

"No, you can't make me."

"Aiden."

"Not doing it."

"Aiden!"

Aiden had retreated to the flames inside the forge's chimney, and the flames were still going. Now, Matthias understood the fact that he could just put the flames out, but then he would be set back in his work and that was not something he wanted. He sat there, sighing roughly, finally he caved "Alright Aiden, I give. I'll answer your damn question." Matthias said, there was no reply, he waited "I said I'll answer your question." Still no reply. Matthias squinted, walking towards the chimney, he listened, there was nothing but the crackling of flames...No. Matthias exited the forge, headed to the front, and looked out the window. It was dark outside, or rather, it was getting dark. How much time had they wasted in here? He could've sworn it hadn't been that long but...He frowned, then shook it off and rolled his eyes, if the other wanted to wander around at night, by all means, whatever trouble he got into was on him.

Alec hated to be the rigid, overly orderly higher up that most people in the kingdom liked to believe he was. But sometimes - a little hard routine comforted him.

He drew back, spine straight as his finger touched the corner of his mouth, gripping the arrow in the bowstring that had been stretched to its full ability. He breathed out once, shutting one eye as he stated fiercely ahead with the other, before letting to and watching the arrow fly.

He knew the shot was no good the moment it left his hand.

Only skimming the edge of the branch he'd been aiming for, he cursed, nocking another arrow and bringing his arm back again, flexing the well defined muscled on his back and shoulders. It was an uncharacteristically humid night for Redmont, but the sweat dripping down his temple was the least of his worries. He had three ships ready for the morning, ready to follow the one clue he had to where his sister might be. It wasn't his most knowledgeable way of travel, but there was no other way to get to where he was going, as there was no way he was traveling through the forests. But then again, there was no easy route to Infernum.

Aiden hopped across the roofs with skill, never missing his foot's target. He didn't have a certain idea of where he was going, but something had tugged at his mind, dragged him out of the house. He was working involuntarily, his body was doing one thing despite the fact that his mind was thinking anything but. He slid to a stop, his now slit pupils expanding to take in what they were seeing, which wasn't much except for moving masses in the darkness. His tail flicked left to right as he looked down at them, slithering through the alley ways, they were in the same position he was. He looked toward the streets, there were more. So many more, flickering in and out of existence. He knew if one were to try and touch them at the wrong time, their hand would go right through them. He looked down at himself, no, still there. Looking up, he kept going, jumping down and getting caught up in the herd. He moved with the current, following along in like anyone else. He squinted ahead, seeing a...A...What was that? A tear? He was eventually pushed into it, and everything went black.

Gabriel was falling asleep on the table.

Left with only his wonderings and worries, he'd been trying to solve the problems that constantly appeared within his head. But the answers led to more variations and more questions and honestly, he didn't have the energy. He figured Aiden had fallen asleep, since he hadn't seen or heard from the man since their...confrontation?

Gabriel rested his head on his arms.

That in itself led to more questions. Questions he had never, and would never have the answer to. Besides, it wasn't even his right to be thinking about such things, it wasn't right for an angel like him - but he could never kid himself. He and his brothers were about as far from pure beings as you could get...well...except for maybe Michael. But Michael was a special case. The rest of him had all had their fair share of shit - tastic days, and it just now seemed that his own were making a reappearance. Except what was supposed to be disgusted by...he wanted. And he couldn't figure out what it meant.

Aiden blinked, looking up at it with wide eyes, it was bigger up close than it was from a distance. It made vibrations from it's throat, a way of communication? He couldn't figure out what it meant, but the rest of them seemed to scatter. Leaving just him. It cocked it's head, lowering itself to get a better look at him, he froze, muscles locking into place. It had eyes. Three of them. Two on the side and one in the middle of its head. It eyed him as if they were equals, but he knew they were far from it. Bigger than an Alpha, smaller than a Muto, what was it?

What are we?

Aiden blinked, that question...Where had it come from? He looked straight again, it was gone, he wasn't where he once was. He was back in the Earth's level, it looked worse than he'd last seen it, and the silence...He hated it. Even the winds weren't picking up. Suddenly, looking into the fog, a mass moved and the ground shook, something was coming. His everlasting urge to run kicked in and by instinct he chose flight but his mind said fight. Still unable to move Aiden wanted to shout as it came closer, no features whatsoever, just a black mass. Aiden's eyes widened impossibly more. That wasn't a Muto. That was worse...That was a pureblood.

The hybrid shot up, scrambling about helplessly "Aiden, calm down." Matthias, arms crossed, stared down at him, he was in the attic, on the same mattress he'd tried to sleep on"What? No, what happened?"

"Heard you kicking around up here so I decided to check on you."

Aiden blinked "No I...I came downstairs. Through the ceiling." He said, Matthias cocked his head "Impossible. If you tore up the ceiling you'd fall right through." They both stared at each other before Matthias spoke up "You've been up here since you stormed off to hide after Alec was knocked out." Aiden blinked "But..No."

Gabriel rubbed at his forehead, trying to smooth the indented lines from the table. He hadn't meant to fall asleep, but the restless nights before hand paired with the events of the days following them had made their mark on the angel. He yawned, rubbing at his eye with his right hand, standing and stretching, letting his wings expand out behind him. He knew he'd have to go after Alec later, knowing he wasn't done with the boy regardless of what had been said, but for now he just wanted to try and locate Tera. Matthias...knew knew the place better than Gabriel, and Gabriel needed a warlock. Their spells were ten times stronger than his own, and might be able to find the girl.

"It still didn't happen."

"Are you calling me a liar?"

"No I- I'm simply saying none of what you just said makes any sense. You've been up here since forever." Matthias held his hands up in defense, the two had been arguing Aiden's experience since he'd been woken up, despite the fact he knew he'd already been awake. He knew what he'd seen, what he'd done, there was no way it hadn't happened "Maybe you got too stressed and passed out?" Matthias had been suggesting that multiple times, over and over, as if it would change Aiden's mind. Unlikely. The hybrid growled off to the side, letting himself hit the wall and slide down into a sitting position "Alright, not that. Don't break the wall." Matthias sighed, examining the dent Aiden had put into it, whatever the other had seen clearly had him in a worse mood than before "Don't make me throw a lamp at you, lighten up." Matthias grunted, Aiden snorted, only half amused "Sorry, sorry."

"Hello?"

Where the heck did everyone keep disappearing off to, Gabriel wondered, standing at the foot of the steps. Still in the attic maybe...well he wasn't going up there anytime soon. Too dark. He did, however come upon Mathias's work-space. He couldn't help but look around, and laying out seemed to be something like a battleaxe...a very very sinister version of a battleaxe. So the man was a blacksmith, and a damn good one at that. It was useful information to have, and Gabriel was all for useful information.

"Alright, alright. So say you did see it, what do you expect us to do about it?" Matthias was climbing down from the attic, Aiden was coming down after him "I don't know." Aiden said, landing on the second floor hallway "That a great plan!" Matthias laughed, heading down the stairs after the smaller one "What do you expect me to do about it? It's an immortal creature you can't kill it, and I've only heard about it through whispers. I don't know anything else about it." Aiden huffed, frustrated as he came down, heading into the living room "Don't burn the house down." Matthias muttered, seeing the tips of Aiden's ears turn red.
