The Falling...

05.jpg

The village of yokai is a dangerous place for humans. It is a safe havern for Yokai, who for years lived in fear beside the humans, the fear being hunted down by the humans. The whole village is surrounded by a thick fog, making it possible for the naked eye to see. However inside various species of Yokai live in harmony... most of the time. The beliefs were as long as no humans discovered or knew about this place they were safe. However a dangerous force rose, an enemy who despised Yokai with a passion. Their mind was bent on destroying the Yokai race. The village slowly turned into chaos. Constantly everyday as the enemy invaded every inch of the land, multiple lives were loss. It became a urgent situation as the death count had risen over 1,000 000. The villagers who had survived the chaos fled away from their homes and into the land beyond.

After...

Those who had escaped made another Village of their own, but they knew that they could never rebuild the peaceful home they loved again. Now exposed to the dangers of man kind discovering them, the best way to not be discovered was to cast a spell over the village. One that neither Yokai nor human could enter or break in. Life prospered once again, new Yokai were born and soon the old tragedy of the village was long forgotten. Those who were alive during tragedy slowly turned mad and eventually killed themselves. The only records of the old village were in single scroll hidden within the new village, by one the old yokais. All would have been safe, until a new force broke the barrier; the descendent of the evil being that destroyed the old village appeared once again, even more powerful than their ancestor, their goal; to destroy all Yokai.

The strongest must rise to defeat the poweful new foe, otherwise yokais will cease to exist. It is here the real story starts, the tale of a group of warriors who stood up against an evil force...

Boras aged 20 lived in the village happily for several years before the evil force came. He worked as a freelance builder and helped to build the old village. However once he saw the village he helped to build burn to the ground he vowed never to let his village down again. At the time of the first attack Boras was young, foolish and afraid. He didnt stay and fight instead he fled to a new location with a few other people. The guilt made it almost impossible to move on however he did start helping his village rebuild. He's spark and creativity has mostly left since the attack and instead of building great and wonderful buildings he made the plans for small less impressive buildings.

Accepted, please post intro post.

Boras walked through the wooden docks of the new village with a new blue print in his hand. He was on his way to the master engineer who'd look over his plans. Then they'd figure out how to build the blue print into a real object. The small foot bridge he was walking over had a small stream under it which ran into a bigger river more down stream. The smaller village was nothing like the old village. The buildings were mainly made of oak wood from neighboring trees. Of course he was only guessing it was oak he wasn't a carpenter only an architect. As he walked in the bitter morning air he heard the sounds of the village as the people woke up. Babies cried and children began to laugh as parents played with them and once again the village came to life.

Boras knocked on the door to one of the huts. Grunting he moved out of the way of children who were running down the wooden lane. He wasn't a angry soul however today he was just having a bad day. The weather was cold and his mood reflected that. He knocked on the door once more and rolled his eyes when he got no answer 'should have known' he said to himself silently as he put the blue print into the old man's mail box and walked away. He decided to go to the only cafe in the village to get something hot to drink and lift his spirits. Once he entered the small cafe his mood instantly changed the warm atmosphere tingled his numb nose and finger tips.

( I hope its okay... )

Yamato dragged his feet to the base of a tree. Unable to go any further, he sat. He winced as pain shot through his arm and side, still injured from his outburst a few days ago. He looked at the village, only a few meters away. People were bustling about, greeting each other as they passed. Yamato felt a twinge of jealousy. He had never had even that simple interaction with anyone.

He closed his eyes and let the hubbub of the village lull him to sleep.

His sleep was short lived as nightmares of his burning home woke him. Jerking up in a cold sweat, he looked around. Noticing no danger, he gingerly placed a hand on his injury. His clothes were partially burnt, along with his amour. The morning was now in full swing. Yokai wondered everywhere. One, passing nearby, nodded his head in greeting to Yamato. Dumbfounded, Yamato guessed nodding back would be the acceptable response. He looked around again. The village was more breathtaking than he had ever imagined.

(Being awesome I'm going to be the Yokai that passed by you Lazy. xD )

After seeing Yamato under the tree nod at him, Kanin changed his course, excited to meet someone new, and started to make his way towards Yamato, trying his best to be silent and not disturb him. As he arrives closer to Yamato he sends out an image of a nametag which has Kanin written on it directed towards Yamato. A few moments after that Kanin sends out another image of a nametag but this time with a question mark in the space. When he reaches Yamato he sits down on Yamato's right side and looks at him smiling.

With a yawn Bo'Rai rubs his eyes, taking some of the sleepiness out of them. He must have dozed off at some point while enjoying the nice weather. How long was he out, anyway? he had no idea. As he takes a brief glance around at the tree branches he was supported by the kitsune reaches for the branch he put his straw hat onto, only to grab at nothing. It must have fell off out of its place at some point. "Ah, nuts." he sighs, talking more to himself than anyone else that could overhear. As he got down from his napping place near the water he searches around to no avail. That was his only one too. As he walks back into the village he decides he'll just get another one sometime.

Yamato was both surprised and scared by the sudden image appearing in his brain. He assumed it came from the yokai who was going towards him. He had never experienced such powers. It was fascinating. He received a second set of images. 'He wants my name?' Yamato looked questioningly at the yokai, Kanin the nametag said.

"Yamato." He said cautiously. Not having spoken to anyone else, he didn't trust this yokai who now sat beside him. He tried to scoot away inconspicuously, keeping a hand on his weapon.

@Elimain

Kanin smiles, as he leans against the tree he lets his gaze wander to the town and starts watch the people. He then sends an image of a house with Yamato in front of it to him. Kanin looks over noticing your burnt armor and quickly replaces the original image with an image of your arm being burnt with the word pain hovering over it. He turns towards you and looks into your eyes with concerning eyes that seem to be asking to let him help you.

@Lazygout

Yamato was confused by the images appearing in his brain. Why didn't the yokai just talk? Wouldn't that be easier? Yamat narrowed his eyes. Yes, he was in pain, and pain hindered one's performance. Surely this tokia also knew that. The question was, was he a threat? Yamato winced as he felt his power start flaring. His burns throbbed painfully.

"Yes, it hurts." He said. "I don't know you, and I don't trust you." He stated bluntly. He had never lied in his life.

@Elimain

Kanin smiles and stands up, and walks in front of Yamato. He reaches his hand out to Yamato clearly wanting him to grab it. Hoping to help this Yokai he starts to send the image of Yamato's arm, but it isn't burned and fully healed.

Usaia sat down on a stable tree branch. She hoped she wouldn't fall, but the rocks would help her. Mother... What can I do? I don't want to betray my own kind..but... Sighing the Inu looked up to the sky and looked back down. There were two Yokai there, both males. Her optimistic, happy personality zipped back. She smiled gleefully and kicked her dangling legs back and forth.

Some time later Bo'Rai steps into a small shop with a few coins in his pocket, intent to pick up a new hat. Most of the ones here were about the same quality as his lost one, so it would be like nothing happened in the first place. As he walks out he a small drink from his flask, deciding to going to catch some fish for either a late lunch or an early dinner. Returning to his apartment he grabs his supplies and heads back out of the village.

As he walks to his regular spot he passes by some other Yokai around a tree. This seemed like a popular spot recently. "Good morning." the kitsune says to the three of as he passes them and sits down by the water line, baiting his hook before casting it out into the water.

Reika cautiously walked with slow steps, glancing at her surroundings. Her polearm was secured by a leather strap to her back, easily accessible if she needed. However, the Mizu's thoughtful, soft look did not reveal any feelings of ill intent. If anything, she preferred not to use her weapon. She brushed a strand of dark hair from her cheek with a quiet motion. As she stepped further, she saw four other Yokai: three by a tree, and one more by a body of water. At the sight of water, she felt more at home already. However, these Yokai were strangers and she didn't trust them. Hoping to catch a better look at them, she took one hesitant step forward from the shade and accidentally stepped onto a branch, making a noise. Her breath hitched as she realized she had drawn attention to herself. Her sea-blue eyes widened in a surprised, innocent look as she a small blush rose in her cheeks from embarrassment.

As he heard the sound of a snapping branch the kitsune takes a look up from the water, his ears perked up a little under his straw hat. It was more for curiosity than anything, it wasn't like there was any immediate danger this close to the village. A lot of noise would likely scare the fish off, but a breaking branch probably wasn't that. Somehow, the young woman he spied from the direction of the sound seemed embarrassed about something. "Looking like a deer who just saw the hunter ain't going to do you good, you know." Bo'Rai remarks loudly to her, holding back some snickering at how awkward this seemed to be.

Kanin withdraws his hand and looks towards the yokai who said good morning and gives him a polite nod. Giving up on helping the Yamato for now, he sits down leaning against the tree. As he looks up to the sky he notices a yokai in the trees that he didn't notice before. He smiles and again sends an image of a nametag including his name on it to the yokai in the tree. Just as he sends the second image asking for her name he hears a loud sound and jerks his gaze towards it. He notices another yokai and wonders if this is a popular spot. He then sends the same two images to her and smiles.

Reika exhaled a bit, relaxing. "Sorry." She didn't really know how to reply to the kitsune's words; after all, she was just as surprised as anyone else was. She was confused, though, on why images were appearing in her head. From the way one of Youkai was smiling at her, she assumed that perhaps he was the one sending them to her? But, why? Wouldn't talking be easier? However, she decided that perhaps it were best not to ask rude questions at the moment. She mustered a weak smile, though still maintaining her level of distrust. "...Ka..nin.." she read from the image. "I'm Reika."

Kanin nods, smiling, and gestures for Reika to come closer, hoping to meet someone new. He looks back towards the Kitsune realizing he has yet to ask for his name. He sends the two images of the nametags to him hoping to get a response. He looked back towards Reika to see if she would come closer or not and gives her a welcoming smile.

"Kanin, huh?" he says as the mental images reaches his mind. Whatever this was reminded Bo'Rai of some offshoot of telepathy. That other girl said the same thing a moment ago too. Since she was looking at that other Yokai, it was a good guess as to who was asking. "I'm Bo'Rai." he says, giving another nod to her as he introduces himself. This place must be pretty popular with all these people here. His tails idly move about from one side to the other as he takes a quick look back to his fishing pole, making sure he didn't get a bite yet without knowjng it.

Kanin smiles and sends an image of a fish over a campfire to Bo'Rai. He look back towards Yamato still concerned about the burn that he has obtained,

@Lazygout

Well, he did plan on making fish his dinner, though he planned on cooking them in the small little backyard of the apartment he lived in instead of a campfire. It did seem like a better in hindsight, not much beat cooking over an open fire. "Not a bad idea, better than-" his reply was cut short by a quick yanking on his line in the water. Reacting quickly Bo'Rai grabs the pole with both hands and pulls while he reels his first catch of the day. "Hm, not bad." he remarks with a small smile as he examines the fish before laying it out on some cloth strips as he re-baits his hook. In hindsight, he should have considered getting some firewood or getting someone else to do it before casting his line again.

Yamato, with the attention taken away from him, silently observed the situation. More and more yokai were appearing. He felt uncomfortable with the crowd that was gathering. He just. Wanted to rest more. He slowly stood up, using the tree trunk as a support. He would look for somewhere quieter. He wasn't used to interacting with people. He realized that Kanin was still wondering about the wounds Yamato had sustained. He did not know these yokai. They would not miss his presence. Yamato decided to try slip away to find a place to sleep.

Watching Yamato starting to leave, Kanin stands up quickly and shows him the image of Yamato's arm fully healed and extends his hand towards him, still wanting him to grab it. Glancing around at Bo'Rai and seeing his catch he smiles at him before returning his gaze back to Yamato waiting for an answer.

Yamato took a moment to fully understand what the other yokai was trying to say.

"How do you intend to heal me?" He asked skeptically. "And why don't you just speak?" Yamato had zero tact and asked what was on his mind without a second thought. Not for a moment did he consider that there was the possibility that his question was rude, or brought up bad memories. He wanted to know, so he asked.

Kanin frowns and thinks for a moment. After a moment he starts moving his mouth like he is talking, but no sounds come out. he then sends Yamato an image of Yamato's arm being burnt, then an image of him touching Yamato, and finally the image of Yamato's arm being healed. Kanin smiles again and looks at him expectantly, hoping that he could help this new yokai he met.
