Military Generals of Indoria

Name: Vice-General Valick Ana

Age: 60

Race: Nomasdae

ValickAna.jpg
Description written by @Jabroni

Valick Ana is man of battle-hardened discipline and a towering mass of a warrior who served with distinction in the Lindor-soov War. He fought beside his brother-in-law, King Drex Corgoso, successfully revolting against their Libertian rulers. The creation of Indoria ushered in a new generation of strong leadership, but at a terrible price.

While Valick was promoted to the rank of Vice-General in the new military regime, the atrocities he and his men committed during the war haunted him in his sleep. He carried a deep sadness, seldom speaking to anyone, and one day he sought to end the pain with his life, challenging his nephew, Ergle Corgoso, to trial by Tayoma. He lost the duel, but as fate would have it, Ergle decided to spare the old soldier and kept his counsel. It was then that he shaved his head, renewing his fierce devotion to the warrior god Anahit. This gave him some solace; however, his past follows him everywhere, and memories cannot be erased.

Out of a sense of duty, he continues to stand by his nephew's side and remains a close adviser to the king.

_____

Name: General Gethario El-Wazzi

Age: 38

Race: Nomasdae

Gethario.jpg

Gethario is not a tall man standing at 5’9; but his sturdy build, fierce behavior, and ability with a sword made him a feared fighter and fast riser in the Indorian army. He became one of the youngest Generals in the Indoria at the age of twenty-eight. Known to be a ruthless superior, he commands his soldiers with a strict and stern hand. Those under him would describe him as humorless and unapproachable, but their respect for his ability in both combat and strategy is incomparable to that of any other soldiers and Generals in Indoria.

He is a well-spoken and intelligent man. He is also a devout follower of the Warrior-god Anahit, going to temple several times a week. Being well versed on the available translated scriptures, Gethario also knows much about The Birther and Krakou. He believes, along with many scholars, that Krakou is not the God of “Tradition” like its followers believe.

Like many, Gethario is not without his faults. He can be found in the major taverns of Falcoln's Haven, drinking too much “Sand Drift,” a mixed drink with so many different spices in it that they collect at the bottom, like sand. During his alcoholic benders he loses the disciplined demeanor that his peers are accustomed to, and turns into a quick to fight, argumentative hothead. Despite his position, he has been tossed out of said taverns on many occasions. He thinks of himself as an honorable man of character.

He deplores sellswords and Tral-el hunters, thinking of them as wasting their combat skills. Much like King Ergle, he shows contempt for the Tral-el riders within the army, but admits they have their uses. During his rise to generalship, Gethario made a name for himself in the fighting pits of Braylic. He was undefeated and gained a sizable fortune, which he used to have large castle built just outside of Falcoln's Haven in seclusion. The home was nicknamed “Fireblood Manor” due to the vivid reds and yellows it was painted. He also used his fortune to court the beautiful and deadly female pit fighter, Marashaa. The two were wed when Gethario turned twenty-five. Gethario and Marashaa have two twin daughters, Penelopi and Teroshi. The two girls are thirteen years old and are the only living things that anyone has seen Gethario show softness to.

Indorian Bush Deer

Indorian Bush Deer
(Created by Lakita Lakita )

Name: Indorian Bush Deer

Description: Generally timid and nervous creatures, the Indorian Bush Deer is a type of fauna native to the forests of Kildra. Recently, they are a common sight in the desert sands of Indoria. As they are renown to be as shy as they are fast, anyone who can tame one of these beasts can earn quite the reputation (and coin) for themselves. Their fur is coarse and short and they come in shades of brown with speckled spots. Their hooves, while unsuited to the desert sands, are proof of their roots in the forests of Kildra. Some specimens have been recorded as having wider hooves than usual - perhaps a sign of these deer adapting to their habitats. They tend to travel in herds - with loners being either old or dying - and are known to be strictly herbivores. They are hardy creatures who are able to survive on minuscule amounts of water and feed, which makes them highly attractive for those trekking across the deserts. They possess a loose flap of skin below their necks which is used to hold water and fat reserves for times of shortcomings.

Brief History: Despite its name, the Indorian Bush Deer is widely thought of as to have been native to the region of Kildra. Ancient manuscripts often speak highly of its meat (although it is noted to have a certain musky smell to it) and it is perhaps the reason why it can no longer be readily found in Kildra. Although its hooves are not well suited to the climate of Indoria, the Indorian Bush Deer is still a valued beast of burden in the country due to their sturdiness. Many a merchant has been saved of thirst by drinking the water in their neck pouches and eating their flesh. Their meat and hide are somewhat common items at the market place but many others choose to buy them as beasts of burden.

Desert Tral-el

Desert Tral-el
(Written by Lakita Lakita )

Name: Desert Tral-el

They also go by the names of (but are not limited to): Indorian Devilbeasts, Sandshifters, Dahaka Asp, and the Zuwendu.

Description: Like their cousins in the North, these beasts take on the forms of quadrupedal reptilians. However, unlike the other Tral-el, they possess much milder temperaments - perhaps due to the desert heat. Though they come in many shapes and sizes, a very common trait between them are heavy-set bodies, sharp claws and teeth, "kind-looking" eyes, and smooth scales. Unique to their kind, the Desert Tral-el are the only ones to have any sort of vegetation in their diet. They have been documented as being extremely fond of the cacti and bush weed which grow around the oasis.

It is important to note that "less mild" does not mean "docile" at all. Even though they have a reputation of being Indorian beasts of burden, a hapless traveler may find themselves missing an arm or two. As they are Tral-el, they still have an affinity for meat from all sources. They are not solitary animals and are often seen in small pods of three to five. Despite their size, many Desert Tral-el have been seen scavenging kills from other predators rather than hunt. They seem to have an excellent sense of smell, as herds of Desert Tral-el are bound to congregate at large corpses, no matter how far away they are.

The Desert Tral-el are fast despite their bulk, and many have the ability to quickly burrow through the sand. On the rare occasions they have been seen hunting, these creatures almost swim through the desert before bursting out right from underneath their prey. Merchants are at the most risk of these attacks - mostly during the drought season. If they aren't careful, they risk the dangers of being dragged into the sands forever.

Besides the Ice Tral-el, they are the only other ones able to produce venom through glands in their mouths. The poison that they administer is not deadly immediately however, with enough time, their victims will die a very uncomfortable death - once bitten, the poisoned begins to dehydrate at quick rates. This is especially dangerous in the deserts of Indoria, which is unfortunately where they most thrive.

During mating season, the Desert Tral-el do not grow any extremities but rather change colour. The preferred colour seems to be variations of red. Only males seem to be able to perform this bright act and it only lasts for days at a time. Desert Tral-el are known to live for years on end, with certain tamed beasts being handed down from generation to generation. However, as they grow older, their temperament seems to worsen - these Ancient Tral-el are responsible for more than half of recorded Tral-el attacks. Luckily, they aren't seem as much as their younger brethren - or perhaps they leave no survivors to tell the tales.

Brief History: The Desert Tral-el have adapted over time to perfect living in the desert. Located in both Indoria and the fringes of Libertia, these beasts have been in Zeldwa since time immemorial. Due to their more peaceful nature, these beasts have been a staple of Indorian culture - perhaps this is why their population has become relatively sparse. Their meat is a highly common market item, being described as both hearty and sweet. Salted dried strips of Desert Tral-el serve as standard fare for merchants and their smooth scaly skin is often used for purses, boots, and cloaks.

The most valued commodity made of their remains include clothing made of their red skin, which is only available during their mating season. For alchemical purposes, they have not been as common as their jungle cousins. Desert Tral-el remains are seen as highly volatile but their venom glands are harvested for antidotes to their poison. Their teeth and claws are used as accessories but steel has replaced them in weaponry.

They can be seen gathering near the oasis of Indoria, particularly at the River of Life. This is convenient for the people of Falcon Haven, as they have a ready source of meat and materials. They are often tamed and used as both beasts of burden and military steeds - the Indorian Tral-el Calvary are fearsome in the way that they can dash around the desert battleground.

In recent times, there have been disturbing reports of Ancient Desert Tral-el awakening in the Desert of Swords. Their enormous bodies erupting from the dunes are often said to create sandstorms - how much of this is true, however, is debatable. In ancient legends, Eshe Marhajii of the Marhajii clan was said to have been able to tame even these monsters to defeat her enemies. Time waits to see if another "Demon Trainer of the Sands" will come out of Indoria...

Religion
Followers of Anahit

The "Followers of Anahit" is the main religion of Indoria and the most practiced by modern-day Nomasdae on all of Zeldwa. It follows the way of the Ancient Nomasdae's Warrior-God, Anahit. Anahit is the last god of the Ancient Nomasdae with multiple surviving scriptures after the "Kildran-Nomasdae War" that enslaved the Nomasdae and destroyed most of their history and culture. Those who practice this religion live by a strict warrior code of strength and valor.

History:
The few remaining religious texts that survived the Nomasdae's cultural destruction name Anahit as the firstborn of "The Birther", the little-known about Mother (and sometimes referred to as father) of all the Ancient Nomasdae's gods (it is noted by world scholars that there are some similarities between The Birther and the Kildran God/Roadalian Goddess) Azae. Anahit's birth story states that he was born a full man with sword in hand. Upon his birth, he challenged the beasts of the land to combat. After defeating them all into submission with just his bare hands, his mother named him Anahit, "the God of all warriors".

Other partial texts tell of the wars fought between Anahit and his brother, Asinya. It is unknown what Asinya was the god of exactly, though many Indorian scholars believe it was the afterlife due to Anahit's apparent reason for starting the war was to achieve immortality for all great warriors. The outcome of the war is also unknown though is fondly written about in Libertian and Indorian fictional literature.

Known Surviving Texts:
  • "Anahit's Kuzaliwa" (Anahit's Birth)
  • "Kitabu Cha Vita I" (Book of War I)
  • "Kitabu Cha Vita II" (Book of War II)
  • "Anahit's Mafundisho" (Anahit's Teachings)
