Fandom The Second Pirate Era (One Piece RP)

Lana noticed the tavern they were heading to at the end of the road they were walking, resting her arms at the back of her neck. She laughed heartily at him when he mentioned his bounty. "I do believe we're gonna need a doc. And a chef. Preferrably a musician. With your katanas and all, that nickname suits you. If you get a bounty that high, I just might have to compete with you." Lana answered grinning challenging at him. She never really had a nickname for herself. Not that she wanted one, but she should probably start thinking of one now that she were about to become a pirate herself. "Conomi Islands, huh? Good choice. I've never been there myself, but they say it's great. We don't have to sail for too long to get there either, as long as we get some supplies here." Lana said thoughtfully, already planning the route to the next island in her mind. Her self-written note suddenly came to mind. "What's the deal with 'never draw Lucifer' by the way?"

Calvin smiled at her comment. "If you challenged me, you'd be dead on the ground before you even had a chance to grab your sword." As they kept walking, he examined his surroundings. He had missed Foosha Village when he went away, so it felt nice to be home. Too bad he had to go by tomorrow. When he heard Lana's comment, he chuckled and rew Lucifer out of it's sheath, the setting sun's final rays bathing the blade a deeper red, redder than blood. "Lucifer is...dangerous. From what my uncle told me, it was my dad's sword, and my dad was a master swordsman. But that's unrelated. Lucifer is what some people consider an evil blade. Only certain people can use it, and those that do are considered devils. It was proof when a Navy ship stopped me, wondering what someone was doing floating along a raft that looked like a bandit. They confiscated my weapons so they could interrogate me. A curious marine decided to take a look at both swords. As soon as he pulled Lucifer out, he lit up in flames, and no matter what, he couldn't get put out, even when they put him in the water. He burned until he was dead. So, I didn't want the same to happen to you." He pointed Lucifer in front of him, shaking his head. "Wouldn't be pretty. Or healthy."

Lana tilted her head with a grimace. He was probably right, but it was worth a try. Eventually. She stopped outside the tavern, listening to his answer about Lucifer. As he told her about the marine soldier, pulling his katana, she struggled to keep laughter down. As she glanced at Lucifer with a concentrated look, to memorize the features and color, she pushed the door to the tavern open. "Atleast he got the funeral of a King." she said jokingly, enterring the tavern with a short laugh. Her eyes on his katana. "Well, I wouldn't draw your swords if I had my own at hand. I know my Claymore's movements by heart. Much easier to fight with a weapon you share every memory and soul with." she said with a wry smile, looking about to see if there were any familiar faces. Or interesting unfamiliar ones. Like the guys from before. Or anyone fit or interested to join a pirate crew. It was weird thinking of herself as a pirate, let alone the first-mate. She'd have to get used to that somehow.

Calvin chuckled as he placed Lucifer back in it's sheath, then followed Lana into the tavern. It was logical. He couldn't remember anytime that he didn't have his katana's on him. Except when he was very little. As Lana observed the crowd in the tavern, he walked past her and plunked down in a seat at a table. He kept his body language casual, but his eyes were alert, examining the people gathered here. Most of the previous customers seemed to have returned to their homes or were working on rebuilding some of the fallen homes. Maybe some went to Goa to request help. Either way, he just wanted to restore his energy and find some people to recruit for his crew.

Lana followed Calvin to the table, sitting down with one of her arms over the back of her chair, the other one resting on the edge of the table. Her eyes wandered the tavern, still looking for any new or familiar faces. It seemed like the people she had seen here earlier were gone. They had probably evacuated when they were attacked. Which reminded her, she still had her stuff up in the room she had rented. Her eyes settled on a young man, seemingly a teenager, and she narrowed her eyes slightly. "Hey, who's the kid?" she said in a hushed voice to Calvin and nodded towards the teen with the blonde hair. He looked very mature for his age, which Lana figured is what caught her interest. Also because of his youth. Atleast that was her first impression of him. "And weren't you supposed to buy me rum?" she said grinning, punching him lightly in the shoulder.

(@Huntrey )

Calvin rubbed his arm, smiling. "Now listen, I said I would buy you rum, but I never said when. And him? I vaguely remember him. I think his name was Noah? Nile? Something like that. I think he was training in medicine. Then again, I could be mixing him up with someone else." He yawned, thinking. If the kid knew medicine decently enough, then maybe they could get him to join them. They needed a doctor, so that would cross one thing off the list.

Nick by this time, was paying no attention to the people in the tavern. A glass of water was concerning his thoughts, for it was great against his throat. The commotion outside, plus the smell of burning flesh wasn't normal for most villagers, but didn't phase the teen. Running an infirmary all by yourself gives you pretty good nerves. Nick gave his neck a turn to either side, allowing the bones to pop as the air pressure in the cartilage was pushed out.

Lana narrowed her eyes, frowning at Calvin. "You better keep your end of the deal." she said with a wry smile. As Calvin mentioned the teen's expertise, she sat quietly for a few moments in her own thoughts. If Noah. Or Nile. Or whoever, was a doctor, the luck was on their side. For now. "Well, let's go have a chat with him, yeah?" Lana said grinning and got up without waiting for a response from Calvin. She strode over the tavern floor and stopped by the boys' side. Crossing her arms, she plunked down in the seat next to him. "A bottle o' rum for me, please. That guy over there's paying." she said with a wide grin, pointing a finger at Calvin with a teasing look. The bartender simply nodded and turned around to grab a bottle. "Hey, kid. What's your name?"

He looked at the woman with a collected face, but curiosity hinted in his eyes. He first looked her up and down, noticing her attire and the weapons he collected a pirate of a sort. Then studied her features, guessing her age and how her behavior on the way she just approached the bar. With that he made his decision on how to act with her, this was something he did often, to always give his patient a feeling as though he was connected with them. "Nick Manchester, is the swordsman buying every one a drink?" He gave a smug look to the girl, hoping his assumption would come out alright.

Calvin watched them converse. At the mention of him buying everyone a drink, he scoffed. "I'd rather not be broke. I'll buy myself and the girl a drink, but no one else." He turned around in his chair and looked at the boy. "I thought your name started with an N of some sort. I was close." He tossed a small pouch at Lana. It made a jingling sound as it flew through the air to her. "There, that's all I'm willing to spend on some refreshments. If we need more, we can get some from the ship."

Lana laughed and caught the pouch with a soft movement. They'd have to get some of the goods from the ship later on - she put a mental note on it. She put her hand in the pouch, pulling out a few Berris and placed them on the desk to pay the bartender for the bottle of rum he had brought. Taking a big sip, she sighed at ease. "We're gonna need atleast two portions of food, and one to go." she continued to the bartender, leaving another couple of Berris for him, before closing the pouch and turning towards the teen, who introduced himself as Nick. "Nice to meet you, Nick. Lana Margobold." she said with an eyebrow raised and a wide grin, her arm reached out to greet him. "My friend over there said he recalled you being a doctor?

"A doctor is a very loose term, but I do practice medicine." He sighed, as far as what his abilities they didn't care, as long as he could fix up a stab wound or take out a bullet. Drinking from the water he turned to the two, who from his initial observation were practically unscathed. "It seems as though you won't need my skills, as far as I can see.". He gave the girl a questioning look, but he was relaxed with the group, for they have peaked his interest. The girl was carrying weapons, as was the man, and from all the noise it was to assume they were apart of it. Dusty was a town hero and that meant they weren't ravaging the town, but most likely protecting it. They also conversed about their ship supplies, but speak as though they have just got the vessel, considering they don't know how much supplies are on it. Doesn't explain what they want from me, besides a clean bill of health to leave for the Grand Line, he almost chuckled.

Calvin shrugged, clicking Gabriel. "These pirates were just weaklings traveling around East Blue. Closer to the Grand Line, there will be pirates that may give us more trouble than now. And there will be a lot of blood and pain along the way. So, we need a doctor that can at least help us enough to travel. We aren't forcing you to join us, but it would be nice of you to. Also, there's promise of adventure, and you can learn new things, right? We're not going out to pillage towns and kill innocent people. We're sailing to become stronger, or whatever you dream of wanting to become. But hey, I'm just voicing what I plan." He pointed his thumb at Lana, smiling. "I don't know what blondie here is planning. Maybe it's riches, maybe it's adventure, maybe it's power. But I'm not questioning her. Whatever she wants to do is up to her. Same to you. We provide the vessel, you provide the assistance, you can do what you want." He raised an eyebrow. "So whaddya' say? Care to join us?"

"I know you Calvin, but I don't know these people." He knew there had to be more then just these two. It seemed very unwise to join a crew that was made of people that had just met. "I see the need for a doc, without doubt it is a necessity, but there will be more emotional and mental problems with a crew that has barely met. Trying to control that boat in unpredictable waters, plus facing pirates together, and spending every waking moment with them will strain those who aren't even on first name basis." He sighed, shaking his head, and awaited a couple seconds, then a smile crossed his face. "But I'm tired of this island, and handling a couple of rag tag pirates sounds easy enough or me.". He hopped down from the stool, "So, you can cross off a doctor on your list.".

Kemuri giggled wildly to herself, floating up near the hole in the deck. Her legs had turned to smoke once more to allow her to more easily complete her task. She had patched the leaking side of the ship, repaired and reinforced the ships bones themselves, and was not tackling the hole. She zipped back and forth along the length, trailing with her a thin length of silvery wire. This wire not only stretched from the hole but along the entire underside of the deck. It was a tough yet flexible metal, spun out from a small device that looked much like a spider but made of metal and clockworks. Every now and then she would reach into her hip pouch and pull out a small scrap of metal and "feed" it to the device. It was meant to be a lightweight but durable support for the wood of the deck itself and later she would cover it with another layer of thin steel. But that was something she would have to make once she made for herself a suitable in ship workshop. With the webbing finished she turned completely into smoke, floating up through the hole before reforming on the deck. It was time to add the boards. As she grabbed her hammer and a suitably sized plank her stomach growled. She barely noticed.

Lana listened to the two of them, enjoying her rum. She did have her own goal once they got to the Grand Line. Whether she would achieve it or not was yet to be seen, but she had decided to stick with the crew. She looked at this boy, Nick, up and down. It seemed like her first-impression was correct. Based on the way he analyzed them, and thought of the consequences, he was way mature, and a good choice if he would decide to come with them. But could he fight, if they came across an obstacle? Tapping her lips with her index-finger thoughtfully, she decided to wait and see. As Nick agreed to join them, a grin widened across Lana's face, and she turned towards Calvin, rum in hand. "Like I said, luck is on our side. Welcome to the crew, Nick. Glad to have you." she said and gestured with her bottle towards Nick as a toast before taking another big sip, thinking of Kemuri and the little girl. The rope-guy who had been with them earlier, where had he ran off to? They would probably be starving by now.

Calvin grabbed the food that was brought to them, and looked at Alex. He handed her a plate with beef on it, and smiled. "Here, have whatever you want, alright? Lana has the money, so just talk to her. I gotta bring food to Joker, then I'll be back. Lana, you heard me. Be back soon." He picked up the one order to go, then ran out the door. Kemuri must be starving by now, so he needed to hustle it. The smoke plume from before was dying down, which was good. When he reached the boat, he heard Kemuri working, and jumped up onto the boat. He walked up behind her and placed the food on the deck beside her. "Hope this is good enough for you. Didn't know if you were a picky eater or not. Ship looks nice." He looked into the hole, noticing the repairs she made.

Kemuri turned her head a lifting her hand to take the cigarette from her lips and exhale a plume of smoke. She placed the hammer back into the hoop of her belt, sitting on the deck as she looked at the plate of food almost absently. After a moment she seemed to refocus, her stomach growling once again. Taking the plate she grinned shoving her hair out of her eyes almost absently. The hole was almost completely patched and she was still thinking of what other upgrades she could make to the ship. But she was definitely hungry. Luckily Calvin was right and she wasn't a picky eater at all.

"Thanks...probably would have forgotten to eat and kept working at this rate... Repairs to this ship are almost done... I might have some time to make a few modifications too... But she'll be ready by morning..."

Lana simply nodded and turned her back as Calvin left the tavern. A plate of food was served in front of her and Alex. Looking at the contents of the plate, Lana's mouth watered and her stomach growled. She looked over at Nick and smiled wryly before attacking her plate with a fork and knife. The route she had been planning in her mind for Conomi Oslands slowly developed as she ate. She thought of her bag, containing maps she had drawn herself from each of the islands she had visited and from books. "Have you guys been to Conomi Islands?" she asked Alex and Nick somewhat absent. If they knew anything beyond the books she read, it could probably help her with her navigating.

Calvin kneeled down and looked at all the repairs Kemuri had done. The ship did seem to be almost fixed, except for the hole on the deck. He smiled. "Awesome. After it's fixed, we can rest up and head out as soon as everybody is ready. But I definitely plan on leaving tomorrow. If I'm right, then Goa will have sent for aid from the Navy, and I don't want to be tangled up in that mess. But it's bound to happen in the future." He stood back up and yawned. As soon as he got back to the tavern to check in with the others, then he would go to sleep. He was running on fumes, and he needed a lot of energy if they were to leave tomorrow.

Nick watched as Calvin exited the pub, studying his gait for any preexisting conditions. He came out clean, as was the rest of those in the tavern, besides the minimal scrapes from the fight. It was an obvious interjection from the weapons and beads of sweat crossing their foreheads, not doubt the calamity was them. He then heard the, soon to be destination, Conomi Islands. "I've been there a few times, but that was when I was younger." He took a sip of his water, looking onto the girl, "Can't tell you I remember much, but by the way you ask, is that our destination?".

(Hey now don't I know you from some where lol @Huntrey)

Calvin set a plate of food in front of her and Lana then headed out. She started eating not the best food she has ever had but it was good. While eating Lana asked her and Nick if they had ever been to Conomi Islands? She shook her head no. "Oh by the way don't worry about paying for my food I can pay myself."

Lana nodded towards Nick, swallowing another mouthful of rum. "Yeah, yeah. Based on Calvin's choice of destination, we're going to Conomi Islands. Great choice, in my opinion. Never been there myself, but people say it's great." she said thoughtfully, gazing absently at Nick. She was already drawing a map of this island in her mind and planning the trip to the next. Alex' voice brought her out of her thoughts. "Oh, sure. If you say so. I'm sure Calvin won't mind payin' though." she answered with a grin. She never really got the girls' name though. "You're joining us on our way to the Grand Line, right? I'm Lana." she said, holding a hand to greet the girl she had fought next to earlier.

Lana held her hand out to Alex and said her name was Lana. She wiped her mouth, put her napkin on her lap and shook her hand, smiled and said "My name is Alex."

(What, I have no idea what you mean CX @animegirl20 )

"They way he spends that money we better find something out there to work for." Nick had money, being the only doctor on the island had its perks, but this was pirating. Money meant, food, ammo, weapons, hardware, and not to mention wages, but Nick didn't worry, as long as he got medicine. Speaking of their "captain", again almost a chuckle at his thoughts, he seemed relaxed, as if he wasn't leaving soon. Taking into consideration the chaos today, it was safe to assume he would meet everyone this day, and tomorrow would be the sea.
