Fantasy The Rising of Mystica

Doe "Red" Wolfsbane

Doe brushes her bangs as she made her way through the markets, carrying her basket and fixes her hood as she looks around. "Hm... What to trade or bargain..." She said softly to herself as she carried two of her rabbits from this morning's hunt in her basket.

Catheryn Herrow

Catheryn sighs softly as she wanders the market, doesn't like being away from the library and knows it's not a good idea for her to bring Patches out into the main attraction for robbers, thieves despite the towns guards doing their best. She held her basket closer to her as she went about looking for specific herbs and new books to add to her collection.

Calypso Da'leau

Calypso carries some of her wares as she sees the quaint town of Mystica just over the horizons and smiles a bit as her eyes seem to swirl and dance with the colours of the ocean but always held their blue hue. Some beads she had threaded in her hair gleamed in the morning light as she made it to the edge of the town.

Adelia Grove

Adelia turned upon hearing someone address her. Her eyebrows sprung up before she spoke. She hadn't heard the man behind her through the cacophony of people. 'Is that so?' She glanced back to her floral tower, and then returned her gaze to the man. 'I see nothing being stolen here. I simply see someone trading one thing for several times its value. At which point did I ever seem to intend to take this all?' She gestured smugly at the blossoms behind her. 'If anything, I'm doing the merchant a favor, giving them more of whatever they're selling. And riddle me this, won't you,' Adeline's expression grew ever the more amused, 'What does the florist pay the flower before he severs its neck and takes from it life? I'd think that a living garden would be better than a dead one, would you not?'

Hmm... Perhaps she hadn't intended to appear so unkind, but the words were spoken. This was the difficulty she had with other people. She was hard-pressed to translate her intentions into proper tones of voice or the like.

He looks her in the eyes, blinking a few times before opening his mouth. He lets out a gentle yawn, scratching at his jaw. He makes a single mouth movement, settling his jaw as if he just woke up. ''Should I pay the forest when I use the leafs to wipe my arse?'' He grows a faint grin, the authority of being a guard fitting him well enough. He realizes it's not proper for a guard, of course, so he shakes his head digging into his pocket to find a coin. He reaches it out towards her, coin stuck between two loose fingers. Typical elves. ''Hand this to the flower girl, payment for whatever flowers are worth, and then don't steal again will ya?''

Adeline Grove

She pulled a disgusted face, then replied simply and promptly,
'I suggest you do.'

She glanced down at the coin he offered, then glanced again to the small flower arrangement. 'And again, I doubt it is necessary to pay when I've already returned what was taken and more.' She moved her hand again to demonstrate how obvious it was the the flowers would belong to the merchant, as a few of the leaves were clinging to the booth beside it. She had taken a single dying bud and replaced it with many living, thriving ones.

Zan Sozen/Theross Blackbane

Getting a slightly surprised look on his face he smiled, "You can relax Coleman, Anwen. It's good to hear that everything's al..right.." Zan watched as a young woman approached with a stormy look on her face. She approached quickly causing him to become a little suspicious, that is until she blew right past him bumping against his shoulder as she went. "Someone's in a hurry..." Turning his attention back to Anwen and Coleman he continued. "Anyways, I'm glad to hear that all is well, Algelique thankfull had some mercy but that only means that I am in for it later. As for your invitation I am afraid I'll have to pass for now, I still need to meet with Jocelyn, and then go train with Angelique." Taking another look at the two he grinned happy that they were being more sociable than before. "Anyways, I shall leave you two to your business. Have a good one...oh and uh you don't have to call me Lord...I don't think I'll properly earned it yet..just Zan will do."

With that he nodded and gave a slight bow before turning to leave only to come face to face with Theross, the young man held a medium sized bag in which he had stored the supplies he had bought. "Oh hello, may I help you?" Theross's eye went from Zan's face to that of the guards behind him, " I take it this is your Lord...hmph...anyways, you have a bug problem see that." Theross jabbed a thumb in the direction of the dead netted spider, "There were three nests last night, I took care of one and after scouting the area around your town I discovered two more..they are closer to your village than I find comfortable. By that I mean that in a month if not a few weeks' time they will be upon you. I'm a Blackbane..I can help take care of it if you wish though I would like payment..additionally I may require your more skilled guards to accompany me. Minus that one...he's rude and likely wouldn't listen to a thing I say to save his life.." Zan's expression soured, becoming quite serious as did his tone the typical cheerfulness fleeing, "Excuse me Blackbane, I appreciate you giving us warning about the spiders, but your tone is out of line. I don't care how crappy Coleman's mood may seem, he is a good, loyal, man, and I will not stand for any slander directed at him or anyone else. UNDERSTOOD?" Zan's temper cooled and he sighed pinching the bridge of his nose between to fingers, "Look, I can see that you are tired, it must have taken you all night to do what you have told me and I appreciate your effort, get some rest and we shall go over this later you have my word." For once Theross had nothing to say the lord was correct, he was tired and was not being respectful as he should have been. Simply nodding Theross looked at Zan, "I apologize for my tone it has been a long day, I'll be at the inn whenever you need me." Theross took his leave without so much as a bow passing through the courtyard and entering the inn silently. "Blackbane huh..I thought they were all wiped out."

"Heh. Guessing they're not a sorcerer." Damon spoke to himself as he watched the guard walk off. He turned back to his beloved gems, tracing a finger over a larger one. It had been looking especially vivid for a while now, a spectacle that had him awestruck every time. "Richard Mallor..." He muttered, remembering the man who offered his soul into this particular gem. A nervous gentlemen who wanted an enchanted cuirass. Surely it helped aide in his knightly duties. Maybe he rose through the ranks thanks to that armor. But Damon knew he was getting old now. And was probably on his deathbed right now. The merchant's green eyes didn't stray from the gem, not wanting to miss a thing. He listened closely, hearing the whispers of a dying man. "Not now, not now..." He seemed to hear, a small smirk playing on his face. There was a moment of silence before the gem began to glow vividly, creating a significant source of light before a noise akin to electricity sounded from a gem. The energy eventually died down, leaving a pure red gem that contrasted with the bluish ones around it. Black swirled underneath the surface, which trembled as Damon picked it up. "Oh, died in battle, did we? Guess that armor wasn't too much of a charm." He whispered to the crystal, holding it close to his face. He could faintly hear a voice in there, quiet and contained. "You devil, you scoundrel, why did I ever agree to this!?" The merchant chuckled with humor, shaking his head. "Don't worry. I'm sure some esteemed mage will pick you up and turn all your anger into fire for a sword. Then you can keep on fighting, good friend. But for now... Just get comfortable." He set the gem down gently, grinning with pride.

Collem grumbled some, making the coin dance between his fingers. He knew she was right, yet he didn't like the idea of an armored elf walking around doing magic tricks. He walks over to the flower stand, dropping the coin for the florist to notice when she's less occupied. As he returns to the elf he looks her over again, the armor and weapons on her belt. They don't look like some scrap she could have stumbled upon. ''So what's your business in Mystica?''

Adelia Grove

'
Mystica? So that's the name of this little town, is it?'

She glanced quickly about the little street full of merchants and buyers, wondering what if the rest of the lands these people had seen. They all looked secure, content. Not as if they had seen things that would shake them or their faith in each other. Well, that one guard over there looked a bit wizened, but otherwise....

'As for business here? I'm unsure. I'm simply a wanderer, "ambassador of the wilderness" some dare to call me, at least in other places. I did little more than find this place while hunting one morning...'

Melinda chuckled. "My dear everyday is slow if you want it to be," Melinda laughed as she watched a bundle of children walk down the stairs, tired and angry. Their parents following behind. Melinda raised an eyebrow at the quiet children and with a slight flick of her wrist, sent happy daydreams and energy to each of them. Melinda proceeds to close her eyes and calm the parents also, who looked like they were on their last fuse.

"Would you look at that? All happy and jumpy within seconds!" As she said this the chef shouted that breakfast was ready, soon the kids were jumping and everyone else's nose led them to the scent of food.

"See, you can find happiness and business anywhere," she smiled at her co-worker before playing with the flowers in vase.

"So pretty, what are these ones called?" She asked with a smile as Melinda begun lightly touching the petals, her white hair tumbling over her shoulder.

Jessica followed her over to the vase and looked at the flowers. "Oh their lilies pretty aren't they?" She said to her smiling. She noticed people walking in and then she looked over at Melinda. "Melinda....um" She thought for a moment. She was going to ask her something but she decided not. "Um nevermind." Melinda was someone you could get advice from but Jessica wasn't very talkative about her home life so know one really knew that much about her.

@LaDyGrEy

Melinda's brows furrowed as Jessica begun speaking but did not. "Don't worry child, if there's anything you want or need to discuss just ask, I'm always here," she smiled before quickly before pulling out some fruit from a bag under the desk.

"Here," she three the girl an apple as she took a bite of her own. "Quite suprised my teeth aren't gone yet! " Melinda tried to lighten the situation and begun chuckling.

''mmm'' Collem mumbles as he listens to her, not liking the way she looks around the place. She isn't grasping to think of a lie, neither does she seem so uncomfortable to avoid even looking in his direction.

''Well then miss. Ambassador'', he says the last two words in a more joking tune, ''I hope you manage to wander on then, with hopefully less bumping into the lord, yea?'' He says with a small nod toward Lord Zan. ''The headguard here is quite protective of him. It's good she wasn't here today or she would flay your arse along mine.'' He flashes a little smile, looking around the market. Where'd all these strangers come from all of the sudden?

Adelia Grove

Adelia flinched slightly at his words. 'A little harsh for simply walking among a crowd, isn't that? It's quite difficult to control where one is stepping when being jostled about. And why,' She continued speaking, 'Would someone as young as he appears to be hold the title of the lord of a town?'

Even a town such as this, she silently added in afterthought.

Jessica laughed a little at her when she mentioned her teeth. She then took the apple and took a bite. "No it's fine don't worry about it. I was just....it's nothing really." Jessica put on the most innocent smile trying to show Melinda everything was perfectly fine.

''Harsh maybe, yet if I don't express it like that you wouldn't believe the devil hiding in Angeli- The Headguard.'' He says in a slightly warmer tone, scratching at his nose with a grin. ''Lady will have you do drills until she sucked every little piece of life-joy outta' you. Real charmer.''

He looks back at Coleman, Arwen and the Lord, nodding his head. ''Yup, the kid looking one is the lord.. Surprisingly decent though, knows what he's doing.''

Among the -few- people Collem does trust, Lord Zan is one of the more kindhearted ones. Pure, even.

Melinda simply nodded as she finished her apple and placed it into the makeshift bin behind the counter. "Well, I tell you what Jessica, come with me! I'll need your help with my new order!" Melinda tapped her long nails on the counter shifting from one foot to the next.

"A man I know is my food dealer, you could say, he's a butcher and I've got to collect everything for the Chef," the old woman smiled as she pulled off a black cloak from the wall behind her. She wasn't particular fond of the sunlight but shhh...no one has to know that.

"Would you like to join me child?"

"Oh?..............Oh sure I don't mind." Jessica said smiling. She walked to the door then stopped and looked back at Melinda. "Wait do you have someone to watch the place while your gone?" She said looking around at the people who were already here.

Melinda chuckled. "Roy! Emily! Your in charge until I get back!" She shouted out as a two middle aged persons came from the back of the Inn.

"Ok Linda!" They called put and she nodded.

"There we go, I'm sure we won't be gone for long," Melinda quickly opened the door and held it open for Jessica, enjoying the soft breeze from the fresh air.

"ADJUVO!"

The screams came from the trees. Several of the villagers looked up from their business and around as the shout faded from the air. Movement paused for a moment, then began again. Soon enough, however...

"SUM SIT ERUPTUS! ERUPTUS!"

This shout brought Angelique out of the guard station, looking around for the source of the shouting. She soon wandered away from the station and found Coleman, Zan and Anwen, then said briskly, "What in the hell was that? Certainly not one of the villagers?" She looked at the guard and the Lord with a confused look when the shout came again, more desperate.

"ET INTERFICIENT ME!"

Angie looked up, then down at Coleman and "That came from the forest." She looked at the three, then said in her normal commanding manner, "Coleman, Anwen, you two come with me to investigate." She turned and prepared to run off, then as an afterthought, she turned to Zan and said, "As for you.... You should probably stay here."

"ADJUVO! ADJUVO ME! ADJU-"

"Oh look, no time to argue. COLEMAN, ANWEN come on!" Angie glanced at Zan briefly, then with a fluid motion she drew her sword and charged out in the direction of the voice.

@Sherlockian @XxLuluxX @Alterius

Sashe's head rose at the sound of screaming, and she saw the guards rushing off to handle whatever was causing the noise. Surely they could handle it.. But just to be careful, Sashe followed calmly from a distance. She didn't run or express any need to hurry; she simply walked.

Eventually Jackie got tired of observing the strange wares, trying to figure out what the heck they were. She decided she had gotten a fairly good amount and headed back to her house, whose ground floor doubled as her shop at the front and her kitchen in the back. From the back there were stairs that led up to Jackie's room

As Jackie was organizing her new wares on the counter, she heard some screaming in the distance.

A call for aid, remarked Hazelmere, ignoring the language barrier. That was obvious; there was such a desperate tone to the voice.

Jackie, in the end, decided not to go and get in the way; it would only make things worse.

Adelia Grove

As she was about to respond to the guard's last comment, Adelia heard commotion, yelling. Her eyes came alert and her body stiffened, one hand coming to rest by one of her knives. As discreetly as possible, though that might not have been as effective as she wished, she stalked behind the arrangement of guards at a bit of a distance. With hope, they would find the source of commotion but it would already have lessened in whatever threat.

Catheryn Herrow

Catheryn looked up in surprise when she heard yelling, and by the sounds of it, it was rather distressed. She bit her lip and quickly cut her trip short, and started making her way back to her library and hut. She glanced back over her shoulder every now and again to keep an eye out in case something dangerous was coming.

Doe "Red" Wolfsbane

Doe blinked as her ears picked up the cry and the direction in which it was coming from and started making her way towards the forest, her nose also picking up a strange scent as well, something she wasn't quite sure what it was. She shook her head and quickly made her way into the woods, using her hearing and nose to help find the source of the distressed calls.

Calypso Da'leau

Calypso blinks when she hears the yelling and looks towards the forest surrounding the trail she was currently walking on, wondering what could possibly have happened, but makes no move to find out as she continues on the trail towards the village with her wares. Making her way into the village, she avoided the guards as they went passed her and into the forest.

Collem's head quickly snapped in the direction of the forrest. The voices were odd to him; Loud enough to be screams, yet clear enough to be spoken words of some sort. All in all not the type of things Collem likes to deal with. He notices the other guards heading out with Angelique, moving for the sound.

Ehh, they'll be fine. He thought, having spared with them enough to know they can take care of themselves. He instead walked over to lord Zan, halting behind him. ''Guess I'll be guarding you for now, my lord.'' Any way to get on the lord's good side is worth taking, even if it's by kissing his arse.

@Alterius

Anwen's head snapped up at the sound of screaming. It assaulted her ears and resounded through the entire village. The young woman did not need Angelique's prompt to spring into action. Even still, she nodded at her senior and swung her bow from across her shoulder. It was smooth against her skin as she tightened her grip and set off.

The screams seem to heighten in volume andurgencyt, causing Anwen to visibly flinch. Biting her bottom lip, she cast a worried glance at Coleman as she darted forwards. Looping her arm through the bow, she balanced it on her shoulder. Effortlessly she took a running leap and grabbed the edge of the closest roof. Her hands gripped the rough thatch and she pulled herself onto the building.

"I'll cover from above," she called to the others. Taking a deep breath, she gathered her wits and tore across the roof, leaping from one to the next. One particular jump was larger than she anticipated and she stumbled, only just managing to stay up. As she drew close to the source she snatched an arrow from the sheath and balanced it, not pulled taunt, but ready. Drawing to a halt atop a roof on the edge of the village, she pulled it back and readied herself. But there was nothing there. Angie was right, the noise came from the forest.

Jumping down she followed the rest, keeping her arrow in place as she did.
