Fantasy The Rising of Mystica

explosiveKitten

Fanfic Kitty
Long ago, there was a king.

He ruled his lands with grace and benevolence. This king was loved by his people, and he loved and ruled over those people with kindness and warmth.

But something changed one day. He became bitter, cruel. He ordered mass executions, entire villages under his rule were burned down, innocents brutally murdered. Life in the kingdom had taken a dark, dark turn.

Until one day a young hero named Devine lead a rebel battalion straight to the king's courtroom and struck down the king with his broadsword. In doing so, he abolished the kingdom, and in it's place, set up the village states.

Thousands of years of peace followed. The villages continued to live in peace.

But recently, dark things have been happening around the country. People going missing, animals running wild.

Rumor says that the old king is trying to rise again... It says he has an army of immortal black knights in armor as dark as the night sky, enchanted with dark magick, who are loyal to him and him only...

This roleplay takes place in the village of Mystica, on a peaceful, normal day. Everything will be fine...

Right?

It was a regular day in Mystica.

The birds were singing, and the townspeople were busily doing their daily business. Everything couldn't have been more normal. Even the shouting of merchants selling their goods was as normal as ever.

Angelique wandered the village square where everybody was, with her hands folded behind her back. As was usual, her eyes were trained on the horizon and the many faces she saw. She named every face in her mind, making an internal checklist to be sure they were all there.

Jessica, Rugard, Beth, Catheryn, Collem and Coleman... Where is Zan?

She looked around briefly, then up at the sun in the sky. He was supposed to be out and about by now. In fact, he should have been up to meet her for his weekly sword training. He certainly needs it... Has he even gotten out of bed?

She looked up the hill at the Lord's home and sighed, walking swiftly towards the stairs that lead up the hill.

@Alterius @Everyone else

Jessica woke early that morning and got dressed and ready for the day. Everyday she had to take care of the garden, sell flowers if any are ready, head to work at the Inn, then it was back home to her father dinner and do chores. She was always busy but she just kept going as she would hum and sing to herself. After she got ready she headed out to the garden and watered the flowers. She checked the flowers seeing if any were ready to be sold. "These over here look good." She said smiling to herself. She went into the house and grabbed a basket to carry her flowers in. Then she picked some laying them gently in her basket. After she was done she headed down the path to the town. She hummed to herself as she walked down the path, at that moment she was kind of in her own little world. Once she got to town she waved good morning to some people she knew then headed into the square and started trying to sell her flowers.

Tristan was too busy wandering around the woods, he had been up most of the night just running and hunting. He liked it, the area was not very frequently visited and he was free to run for as long as he liked. Now he made his way back into the village, walking to his Blacksmith Shop. Who knows! Maybe he'll have a request today from the Head Guard for more swords or armour?

"Right then," after a long time walking he entered his shop and begun starting the fire, it would take a good ten or 20 minutes to get properly hot so he begun aimlessly setting up his tools and getting the bits of metal.

"Today's going to be interesting," he felt like his wolf knew and to be honest he was excited about what the day may bring.

Melinda had been up, making sure the cooks were up, the cleaners, her assistants too! "Come on dears, people are waking up and they want to smell breakfast!" Melinda clapped her hands as people grumbled with sleep. Some wondered how Melinda was so active for an old woman but she truly was...magickal. Melinda headed to the front and positioned one of the maids and bar tenders to begin. They had barrels of bear and the lower part was more like a gathering place, a pub so to speak.

"I'm going out do please have fun and look after everyone!" She called back with not a care in the world, she felt relaxed, it was good, she knew damn well they could handle everything which was a weight off her shoulders, like all the time.

Melinda placed on a hat to protect her from the sun and proceeded to carry her sack of money and a basket to carry everything she came across today. She was still rather wealthy from her...past times but half of it now was mostly from the Inn.- as of expected.

She took off sauntering down the street a smile on her face.

Angelique posted Collem in the village square again, seems like that's all he does lately. He lets out a sigh, leaning against the wall behind him. Of the towns he's been to Mystica must be among the stiffest. Minimal trouble, little-to-no black market interest and everyone's so damned friendly. Guess that's what happens when the headguard's got a stick up her ass, he thinks to himself as he starts making a round.

It's not to keep the merchants safe, it's for his own sanity. You can only be around any single merchant crying his wares for so long. He's been living in Mystica for just a few full-moons, yet most of the traders he pass by are familiar to him. Too difficult to smuggle here he figures, the lack of traveling traders almost unsettling to him. Further into the square flowergirl is up and selling already, just as dedicated as the best of merchants. Good kid, he thinks as he walks past. As usual nothing of interest is going on, shortly returning to his original spot, leaning against the same wall as earlier. Indeed just another boring day..

The daylight streamed through the window into Zan's bedroom, specifically right into Zan's eyes. The Lord didn't blink and shift to avoid it, instead he stared out the open window to the blue skies overhead. With an exasperated sigh Zan pushed himself upright and slid out of bed going straight for the bathroom he washed up and began his morning routine. Coming out fifteen minutes later he dried himself and began dressing in his robes slipping on his pants and shirts he tied his of I around his waist and headed out opening his door and coming face to face with Angie. "Well hello there, here to drag me out of bed?"

The guard walked leisurely around the town on his patrol, hands folded behind his back whilst concentrating on the movement of his feet. Not the best place he could have been stationed, yet it was relaxing. A place like this could heal scars, and lord knows he had many. A sword strike could be healed. A mind was warped. Watching others whom you had laughed with, cried with, spoken with... Disappear simply by the swing of a blade. Men hacked apart. No mercy. No love. Nothing.

There was nothing.

Snapped from his morbid thoughts, Cole looked up to be met with somewhat a happier scene. The town was awake, once more moving about in its everlasting cycle. Perhaps one day even the safety of repetition here, would be taken. Thrown into the harsh reality of a crumbling world. But alike any soldier, you would plaster a smile on cold lips, and continue onwards in the face of adversity. Try to forget, or succumb to your own insanity. There was nothing to save you from yourself.

The sky was a clear, rich shade of lapis lazuli, clouds lazily drifting overhead. It was a fine day to be up and about in this weather. One would call it paradise. The blissful ignorance of what went on beyond farmers fields and blacksmiths forges. Many from this town hid secrets themselves, too wound up in their own cocoons of troubles and petty problems to bother looking further afield.

The patrol continued- Silence brought with it.

Early morning had finally hit the village and people were soon about their morning routines as Beth took a seat on the bench outside her tavern. She had already met the scornful sight of the guards that morning and was now feeling queasy and groggy. Was she feeling like this because of those guards or was it the heavy drinking and merry-making she thought. Whatever the reason this was simply not her time of day, she hated mornings and resigned herself to more ale in order to break the turned stomach she had. "Sod them all. I might need to smile all night for them but the days, they are mine." she mumbled to herself as she climbed the crocked and half-rotten stairs around the back of the cracked and crumbled tavern.

Seemed like a slow morning The flowers weren't selling that well today. She spotted one of the guards who seemed to have glanced at her. She just gave a small smile then decided to try another street in town. She walked down the street trying to sell her flowers when she spotted her father's stand. She stopped and looked back up the street where she came from. She usually tired to stay clear of him during the day. She turned around and sighed. She wasn't going to be able to sell more today plus she had to get to the Inn soon. So she started her back up to the square to heading to her road back home.

Theross grunted as he continued to drag his rather large bag into the town square. He looks very tired and thoroughly pissed his eyes glaring out from the space between his bangs. With one final groan Theross heaved the massive net until it was even with him in the center of town. Within the large net was a massive spider, the king that give grown men chills and younger people nightmares. It's head rolled on it's underside with a rather precise hole through it's crown that had trails of dried greenish blood. Similar dots of dried blood were on Theross' cheek and clothes as well sharing guilt for angering the young man. Spotting the closest guard Theross stormed over to him his typically dark aura flaring up with no evidence besides a wave of dread that pushed toward the man. "Tell your lord that you have a serious bug problem that need attention." Theross turned and walked towards the tavern calling back, "If he wants to see me tell him he can find me at the tavern." Theross continued walking spotting a girl about his age, his eyes flashed as an idea seemed to pop into his head but he disregarded it with huff.

Jessica was trying to decide if she should just head on to work. As she was approaching the Inn she stopped and looked down the road trying to decide what to do. She then noticed someone from the corner of her eye who seem to be looked at her. She turned around to look at him but by the time she did he was already walking in. (@Alterius) She shrugged and decided she would go on to work. She walked in with her basket. She looked around to see some of the costumers waving to her. She then saw Beth. "Morning Beth!" She said calling out to her. She walked over to her smiling. She then held the basket out to her. "Got some flowers left want them? Maybe you can use them for something." (@Roble)

Catheryn lightly yawned as she stretched, cracking many bones in her body as she slowly started to move and push away from her desk as she had fallen asleep slumped over it again with her nose deep in pages of a book she had been reading. Her cat, Patches was already up and about padding around her legs before disappearing to who knows where. She smiled slightly as she ran a hand through her hair before putting a bookmark in her book and closing it as she headed into the library which was attached to her small home. She made her way to the front before opening the curtains to let the light of the day in before going to sort through some new books she had just gotten in.

-----

Doe "Red" Wolfsbane yawned softly as she slowly woke, stretching before blinking and realizing she wasn't in her bed but on a bed made of dirt and leaves. She got up carefully and looked around taking her surroundings. Recognizing where she was despite not remembering how she got their in the first place. The young woman merely shrugged and gathered her bow and quiver which had been laid down by her misshaped campsite. She decided it would be best to get moving and start hunting since during the mornings, people were still waking and not fully aware of their surroundings, much like the animals of the forest who would be easy kill if they weren't prepared.

Raiden Stjórn

Raiden's eyes winced open after a very good night's sleep, glaring around the room hazily and trying to clear his woozy head. He leaned up and looked down at his sheets for a few seconds, wiping sleep from his eyes, before pushing the sheets off him completely. He had no idea what time it was, though he assumed it was early as the sun was shining through the slit between his curtains.

Like most mornings, it didn't take him long to get cleaned and dressed for the day ahead. He walked down the stairs and into the kitchen in which his parents had already been up and cooking. His father was whispering into his giggling mother's ear, and the two were generally being sappy. Raiden loved to see his mother so happy, because of the pain that inflicted her when his father was away.

"Mornin' yeh big ol' saps!" He chuckled when the two quickly tried to stop their flirtatious actions. He was amused to see his father blushing much more than his mother.

"A'right m'boy! Good sleep?" His father tried to ask seriously, failing when a smile crossed his face.

" 'Bout as good as your mornin', I'd say! Heh."

"Oh will you stop it! Heheheh.." His mother chirped in, blushing now in place of his father.

"Well I'm off out to work! I'll grab some grub on the way." Raiden chuckled once more towards his parents before grabbing up his jacket and other items of need, "I'll see yeh when I see yeh!"

He waved off to the two and walked out the front door and towards his cart that he'd left out behind the house. The majority of his wares were various spices and salt, so he wasn't worried about people stealing it, though it was worth a fair bit.

Bringing over his horse, he attached and hooked everything up properly, and started down the road towards the merchant stands.

Jackie was up early, as usual, although today she was out hunting for wares instead of selling. Because of her habit to take random days off and look around for unique items to sell, Jackie was a relatively known face among the merchants. A silvery glint caught her eye, and she turned and headed in the direction of one of the weapons merchants.

:You're welcome,: stated a rather smug and unwelcome voice in Jackie's thoughts.

'Leave me be, Hazelmere. While your help is.. appreciated.. Jackie growled that part, not comfortable with thanking her chaotic side. '..it is not needed, and it is not wanted.'

Hazelmere said nothing else, and Jackie arrived at her objective. She looked to the merchant with a friendly smile, and he nodded back; she reached out towards the item that had glinted and pulled out a dirty dagger that was obviously once ornate.

"How much for it?" she asked, and the man tilted his head in confusion.

"For this dirty ol' thing? Not much, just about 10, 15 gold." (Dunno how the money system's supposed to work so meh.)

"Pretty cheap.. I'll take it." The merchant nodded his thanks, and Jackie paid and took the dagger, setting it into her bag carefully. "Is there a sheath for it?"

"Oh, yeah, here it is. It was buried and I forgot we had it, sorry." Jackie nodded in understanding and took the sheathe, sliding the dagger into it so it didn't cut the bag it was in.

:Where to now, my delightful host? Oh! Over there, to the jewelry stall. There's an ancient locket that's sealed shut, and inside of it is a stone that can enhance the wearer's best trait. Go and check it out. They don't know what's inside, or where it's from, so it'll be nice and cheap!:

Jackie sighed--today was going to a long and internally loud day, but listened to Hazelmere's instructions and continued through her day of bargaining.

Tristan had been sitting down a for a few minutes when suddenly the smell off the bakers caught his nose and the laughing of children reaches his ears. "Just another morning in this peaceful village," the wolf chucked to himself before grabbing a piece of metal and beginning it's transformation into a sword. Clattering and clanking of metal could be heard around his shop.

Melinda was, like always, wanting to find some interesting things to seel at her Inn or to make it look better. Business was business and so she looked onwards. "New silk sheets for wealthier people? How about some eccentric wine? She spoke to herself in soft mumbles when a though crossed her mind.

"I'll buy some children books for parents who can read, to read to their children to keep them occupied. I can have blankets and cushion in the corner for children to play," she smiled to herself, victorious at the idea that had crossed her mind.

Turning her course to the library, Melinda opened the door with a smile.

Coleman Anders

Then there was a stranger. Passing him with a cocky presence- One that could really piss off a man whilst having a bad day. "Tell the head guard then. Twat." Coleman added quietly on the end with an agitated tone, before continuing onwards. No use telling one of the damn lackies. Cole rolled his shoulders, cracking bone and loosening tensed muscle. It was safe to say, him and authority never got on. Unless they gained his respect, which in the case of the head guard she had. Yet here he was, still patrolling the town fringes with a sour expression. And to think his morbid thoughts had started to get interesting.

It wasn't that he disliked his job, after all he'd been through enough to know this place was heaven(Beds included). But it was the men and women whom thought they were above the towns guardianship. There might have been a bug problem, but Cole wasn't a squeamish type. The bugs that got too near could be disposed of, and it was no longer their problem. Solved.

Theross Blackbane

Theross paused at the door of the inn and glanced back at the guard, "Exactly how am I supposed to know who the head guard of is town is idiot. The only one being a twat is you, griping at me because you let your ambitions be quashed by a job walking around a town. Do your job and report to your superiors, we're done here." Internally Theross was apologetic for snapping at a stranger but was unwilling to apologize, not after spending the better half of the night exterminating spiders the size of the surrounding buildings. He glanced back at the one he had managed to drag into the square and grimaced before turning his attention to the innkeeper. Walking up to the counter he placed a put a hand in his jacket pulling out a bag of coin, "How much for a room?"

"Perhaps if you managed to use your eyes and superior intelligence, you could find her. Eh?(!)" He smiled patronizingly, watching the stranger leave. Actually, his ambitions so far seemed to reach- Getting a mead, and possibly one day a family of his own. The job here was no less than something to help him clear his mind. It wasn't so bad, kept him in shape, gave him time and peace. May have been unexciting apart from the giant bug problem; yet it was better than fighting battles in the name of a stupid something rather cause. But one must look and see that Cole in general was bad tempered, with a snarky mouth. Two things that got him constantly in trouble.

''Who's the little fella?'' Collem ask's as he passes by, learning against his spear. The yelling between the two have attracted some eyes, whispering leaving a few groups of people. He usually wouldn't care about bickering between folks, yet that's often how Coleman get's in trouble, pulling some punishment along to be dumped on Collems shoulders.

Besides, when a kid drags along a kill, it's probably good to know him. Besides, poison glands goes for quite the sum to the east.

Jocelyn Citrae'elle

Jocelyn was an early riser, and always had been, so it was no surprise to anyone in the kingdom that the Lord's adviser was already up and organizing papers that need be organized. She picked up a stack and straightened it, tapping the bottom of the stack against the table to make them all uniform and neat. It's what separates us from the animals, she would think, pertaining the concept of being neat and organized, that in which animals could not do. The sun was still rising as Jocelyn glanced out the window, light filtering in through the pristine glass that she had cleansed about an hour ago. She prided herself in her neat workspace, and hopes that the Lord would as well. A small smile had fallen on her normally serious face at the thought of him being proud of something she would do for him.

Everyone was probably getting up by then, but she knew that Zan's Head Guard would come to him like she had every morning, puppy eyed for the Lord. At least she had the ability and inner strength not show her affections for him as blatantly as Angelique would. Jocelyn never really had anything against the young woman, but she just acted so high and mighty all the time, and it got annoying after a while, for lack of better vocabulary at that moment. She was busy working, and thinking about the two of them would not get her any further in her work. Even so, it bothered the deer-elf, as she frowned down at her work. It just seemed so inadequate to her right now, so Jocelyn thought that it would be best to take a small break.

She stood up from her wooden chair and bent back slightly, arching her back as a pop sounded form the center of her spine. She had instantly felt somewhat relieved, as she placed a slender hand at her hip and rotated her torso both ways to hear satisfying cracks from each side. Oi, she thought as she looked back down at a stack of papers covered in her intricate script. She had a commitment to finish them, but she was already ahead for the day, so she could honestly come back to them in an hour or two. Jocelyn had soon left the study that she worked at inside the kingdom, the freshly dusted bookshelves shining on her way out from the bright rays of the morning sun.

((Ignore my former post for Melinda!))

Melinda smiled as her employees started to get to work. "Come or dears stop dilly dallying other this old woman will beat you," they all chuckled before a man approached the desk.

"How long for darling? Men these days! Always demanding," Melinda laughed as she awaited the man. "Oh and if you're looking for the head Guard her name is Angelique Gale. Strong lady, good lass, always chasing the Lord, I've been around for some time," Melinda begun to pull a key out.

"So how long or are you going stay or are you going to pay every day? "

Theross Blackbane

Theross kept walking rolling his eyes at the guards shouted retort. At least the innkeeper was kind if not a bit sassy, "I'd prefer paying day to day, however I can pay for a week if need be." Theross reached into his jacket and pulled out a rather hefty bag of gold. Placing it on the counter it fell on it's side spilling the shiny coins onto the wood. Theross put his hand back to his jacket fixing it until it hung as it was supposed to his beight purple eyes looking back to Melinda when he was done. "I'll take a look around to see if I can find them later then.....thanks."

"Well if I had to, yes. But obviously I didn't." Angie said, with her arms crossed over her chest. She blinked at him once, twice, three times before she stood up tall again and said, "It is almost high noon, Lord Zan. What have you been doing all this time, sleeping?" She looked at him with a sigh, then shook her head, no need to patronize the Lord.

"Either way, it's good to see you are awake. I suppose I should give you a quick report on the state of affairs today. Walk with me, Lord Zan." She began going down the steps, "We received a letter from the Priestess of Notiss that she left on her journey to our village. She should be here in about a weeks time. In just enough time to oversee Lucian and Alexis's wedding. So we should expect her in a few days and have a room ready for her." She said with only a slight piece of bitterness. "Other then that, nothing unusual has happened today. Coleman is being a drunk idiot as usual. I do believe we may have some new arrivals today, but that's beside the point. You also missed your weekly sword lesson, with me. Not that that particularly matters too much, but if it were say meeting with the Lord of another village I'd hope you would be more punctual?" Arriving at the bottom of the stairs, she turned on her heel to face Zan. "So, I'll be waiting at the Guard station for your lesson- I'm not letting you miss another one- when you're ready, come find me." With that, she turned and with a sigh, she strolled over to the Guard Station and swept inside.

@Alterius

Melinda chuckled. "Pay day to day, that's fine," she took a few pieces of gold and passed the man the key for his room with the number also. "Lord Zan, he lives right at the top, big mansion? Couldn't miss it, he has lessons with Ms. Gale in the Guard ares to I believe," Melinda smiled as she saw a couple and their crying daughter come down the stairs.

"Oh my, darling let me hold her whilst you sort yourselves out," Melinda took the baby as they thanked her and the little one stopped crying instantly.

Melinda had used her powers to ease the babies mind and give her a sweet dream, lulling the baby to sleep, she smiled at the Guard. "Pleasure to meet you Sir, my name is Melinda," would she dare mention her past to the Guard, no. Good thing to, she'd be killed on spot, especially what she used to do.

"Do enjoy what we have to offer, if you need anything, I'm here for you,"

Doe "Red" Wolfsbane

Doe huffed lightly as she adjusted the weight of her kills on her shoulders to make it more balanced. She was currently carrying a buck on her back and had some dead rabbits hooked to her hips, about two or three on each side, she had obviously had a good morning as she started making her way back towards the village, whistling softly as she did, her ears seemed to pick up every small sound, she could hear the chatter of the village to the soft splashing of the stream up north from the town. She reached the edge of town before making her way off to her small hut to clean up her kills before selling them two of her rabbits to the butcher's wife who she knew made some of the best rabbit stew. She still wish she knew how she had ended up in the forest without any memory of what happened.
