Realistic or Modern The Mercury Group (OPEN)

Dear fellow trouble makers,

Today at noon we will be having a meet and greet, there will be food and drinks provided. So please stop by and say hello!

xoxo,

Megan

Kendall came across the note for the meet and greet that would be later that day. It'd be nice to see the other faces holed up in this place. He thought to himself as he studied the note. The only person that he knew at this point was Megan. She was the one who had welcomed him into the home after his father had kicked him out of the house for 'a prank gone too far.' In Kendall's defense, he wouldn't have pulled anything if it weren't for the fact that his father and mother were cheating on one another and one didn't know about the cheating of the other. What better way to expose it to both of them then a prank, right? Wrong... not only was he kicked out of his father's home, he was 'disowned' from his mother and could only assume his parents were getting a divorce. He may have felt a little more guilty buuuut.... well it wasn't like his parents and his relationship had been all that great before hand. And it had been time for him to get his own life, anyway. Living with your parents at 20 did not set a good image, especially when trying to woo women.

"So... I'm here." Ken said once he had entered the room that would be housing the meet and greets. First one? That's something that happens rarely. He said, finding a chair next to the wall and taking a seat. He gazed around the room, impressed with the decent setup that Megan had put together. So... what other riff raff was staying in this house for misfits, he wondered. He combed his fingers through his hair, pulling it out of his eyes while he waited to see what would happen next.

Megan slips in with a big costco box full of food and other supplies. Struggling with the door, she holds it open for Otis to come inside. Otis, a goofy pug, runs full speed into the open meeting space, drops down onto the center of the floor and rolls over onto his back.

Megan carries the box over to the bar in the kitchen and begins to pull food out and laying it on the counter. She sets the box onto the floor and Otis runs over and hops in. "Silly Otis, don't you know you're not a cat?" Megan giggles and walks over to start cutting the giant sub sandwich into sections. I wonder how the new group is going to get along. Megan thought to herself. How am I going to start the meeting, perhaps discussing my own personal experiences and why I started the group will break the ice.

Megan looks up from the sub sandwich and catches a glimpse of a blonde young man sitting in the corner. Embarrassed she didn't hear anyone come in, or worse didn't notice them when she came in, she walks over towards Ken, "Hey you, I am so glad you could make it!"

Oliver stepped into the kitchen from the doorway, seeing a girl slightly older than him with a small dog that he probably wouldn't have noticed if not for the fact the girl was talking to it. Across from oliver was a blonde guy with long hair which he seemed to be toying with.

The girl noticed the blonde in the corner and jolted out of her thoughts - saying some words of greeting. Oliver decided now would be a good time to announce his presence to the group.

"morning peasants" he said with a grin on his face to tell them he was joking. He flopped down onto the unoccupied sofa across from the girl and her small dog.

Talia sighed, running a hand through her dark strands. She reluctantly read the note, she wasn't in the mood to talk to people, much less, meet new people that were probably annoying and most likely insane. She already met Megan, she came off as nice, her appearance was interesting, and to Talia's surprise, she didn't feel the need to insult her right away. Of course, that feeling did eventually come as it did for everyone else, it wasn't new for Talia to simply want to slap someone over nothing.

She crossed her arms, making her way to the room where a few others were already assembled. She noticed the pug, its big dog eyes fituated on it's owner. Talia raised her eyebrows as she leaned against the doorframe, "Yo." She had an obvious arrogance in her tone, as if it wasn't even worth her time to say the one simple word.

The size of the house was overwhelming. It was the polar opposite of the roach infested studio apartment he had been sharing with the other 4 members of his family (a term he used in the lightest sense.) He had everything he owned either on him, or stuffed in the black duffel bag that was slung over his shoulder.

Timberlands, adorned by black jeans, a blue flannel shirt, crisp, ironed and buttoned all the way up. His sleeves were rolled to the elbow. Around his neck was his most prized possession. A simple rosary someone could pick up for a dollar. It reminded him where he came from. What he's gone through.

And it was the only thing that his biological parents left in that dumpster with him.

Making his way up the drive, he started having doubts. This couldn't be real. It was all a joke. Any time now a camera crew was going to pop out and laugh at him, telling him he got punked. How things like this simply don't happen to people like him.

Fuck it. YOLO.

He turned the door knob and peeked his head in.

"Hola - err...Hello?..Anyone here?"

His voice was deep with a spanglish accent. Strong, robust but given his current situation, twinged with uncertainty.

Ken watched with amusement as Megan came into the room with her spunky little Pug. He held back a chuckle at their antics... and that the girl actually spoke to the dog as if it were a person. He smiled and waved when her focus came on him.

"Hey yourself. And yes, who would turn down free food?" He teased before the call 'morning peasants' could be heard throughout the room. He got to his feet, dashing smile in place before bowing to the guy who had just came in.

"My liege." He said in a very professional sounding voice. "I only have one question. Who died and made you king?" He said, straightening up and moving over to where the guy stood to give him a playful punch to the shoulder to show there was no real bite in his words.

Ken's eyes again alighted on a new person as a simple, 'Yo' was stated. "Yo yo, yoyo." He said back, giving the girl a wave. Might as well try and make friends with everyone right? "So, yo, what's up?"

An accented voice came up next, and Ken bit back a chuckle. "Megan, you really did have a party in mind, didn't you?" He said, turning to her a brief moment before returning to the darker skinned man. "There are multiple people here! There's Megan, The King, Yo, and now you, and me! Also, to all who are here, my names Kendall- please call me Ken."

Talia felt her face go into a scowl as she looked at the man who had responded to her. She was put into an instant annoyance. She closed her eyes, then opened them, she decided to stay away from obvious insults or insults in general. instead she said, "Don't ever do that again, and don't ever call me that again. It's Talia." the rasp in her voice was more noticable when she spoke with the hostile undertone, she didn't care all that much though. He seemed friendly enough, aside from her constant of act of being a complete bitch, she promised herself to eventually give everyone a chance. Maybe.

Oliver's eyebrows shot up at that "OK," he said, letting his voice rise in pitch and elongating the word. "so... Anyone want to play a card game?" he suggested, pulling a red bicycle deck from his pocket and giving the cards a few quick cuts and shuffles.

"go fish? " he asked, smirking slightly.

Finnegan

Tall, 6'4 with a slightly muscled build, Finnegan came to find the note as he raised an eyebrow, taking in a deep breath he rolled his deep emerald eyes, the mixture of light brown and blonde wind blown locks seemed to keep themselves all out of wack. Wearing a pair of beige work boots, with the black tape over the toes he had on a slightly baggy, black pair of jeans and a simple white t-shirt, his tattoo's slightly visible through the thin layer of material. Stepping into the hall, everyone had pretty much arrived, of course he was fashionably late. Perfect. Finnegan hated to draw attention to himself. Slipping into the room he calmly moved to take a seat and let his eyes wander, taking in all the faces, especially the women. A goofy pug seemed to be running around as everyone gathered to talk and however this really worked. Heaving a heavy sigh he put both hands behind his head an laced his fingers together, leaning back in the chair to stretch and make himself comfortable.

Talia looked at the newest person to join the group in the room. she narrowed her eyes, he was tall, very tall. He was good looking, she had to admit, but he still gave off a weird vibe that she was instantly irritated with. The attention seemed to be on the dog still, Megan and the group socializing. All were things she currently wasn't all that interested in. She tilted her head, her attention on the man that just arrived, he reminded her of a movie that she couldn't put her finger on, she spoke with the hostile tone she'd been using the entire time she was in the room, "What box office flop of a movie did you come from?"

Finnegan

As soon as he sat, he felt eyes, and out of the corner of his eye he saw her, a scowling woman who honestly seemed quite vicious. At her words, he raised an eyebrow an grinned, the edge of his mouth pulling upward as he glared at her, both emerald eyes seemed to dance with a fiery flicker. However he merely threw her a smile an crossed his arms "Obviously one you haven't seen" with that he moved his eyes to the other people in the room, this woman was going to get highly annoying, quickly. Finn had a deep, husky tone that rang off his tongue like sand paper, rough. Sitting up slightly he was awaiting this woman to reply with a smart-ass remark and he would be ready for it.

She rolled her eyes, uncrossing her arms and moving to the seat next to his. She hid the smirk that grew on her face by looking down at the floor, this man would be at least one person for her to mess with, whether that be with cruel humor or constant insults. Talia yawned, "Clearly." She paused, then turned to look at his face, "You're wannabe comic book villian hair-cut is a little too much by the way. you might want to try something new with it. Like, wash it."

Finnegan

Resisting the urge to raise an eyebrow in surprise as the harsh woman came to sit next to him, he merely stared at her with a blank expression, he heaved a heavy sigh at her words and shrugged " I prefer the more typical look, and I have washed it today, this is the out come, thanks for the tip however" He threw her a small, half hearted smirk as he then threw a glance to everyone else, then turning his head back to her. This young woman was interesting yet highly irritating and he could tell she was enjoying their heated discussion.

Talia gave him an obviously fake smile before moving a dark strand of hair from her face and tucking it behind her ear. The man didn't seemed phasd by her insults, throwing her off a little, she thought maybe she was losing her edge. She leaned back in the chair, kicking her feet up and let her eyes move across the room. "No problem, if need any more, like maybe how to dress like a normal person, I'm here."

eeep, There are people gathering, AT MY GET TOGETHER! Megan thought to herself every time a new face popped up.

"Hello Everybody! In case you forgot what brought you here, my name is Megan and this is Safe Space - and you are the Mercury Group - because you're out of this world!" Megan makes big hand gestures when she says that part and smiles ear to ear. "And this little drool bug is Otis" Picking up Otis long enough to kiss him on the head. Megan looks around at the group sitting around her and takes in their facial expressions. Trying to read what they are thinking. I should probably dial back the cute, don't want to be too much for these guys.Starting to annoy myself. "Why don't you all get something to eat, find a comfy spot to sit, and we will start in 15 minutes."

Megan starts to walk away calling Otis when she turns around, "There are soft drinks in the fridge, iced tea and hot coffee on the counter. Make yourselves comfy. I'll be right back." Megan continues to her office to go over and refresh notes and profiles.

Elijah knocked on the open door, slightly of course, and stepped in, looking around. "Um... hello? Anyone here? I truly hope this isn't some murderous ploy to lure people in and kidnap them. I just finished the human centipede trilogy. I dont want to be sowed to someone's ass. Or is it sown?" He looked around for any activity, walking cautiously. "I saw this lovely meet and greet note but there seems to be a lack of both departments. I'm rambling. That's how the blonde dies in the horror films I'm going to hush and silently look for anyone. Or maybe I should continue to talk until the impression it will draw activity and the fleeting hope I won't be brutally slaughtered." He figured by now if anyone was around they would have heard him and found him. So he contnued to walk aimlessly

The living room looked very empty for everyone to be here, so Megan stepped out of her office and into the big hall to find anybody that may be wandering. Down the hall she could see a young man who she was recently introduced to. Eli I think his name is.

"Hey there, you must be looking for the mercury group meeting. It is just in there." Megan points to the living room doorway. "Just go in and make yourself comfortable, there is food, drinks and big comfy seats. Introduce yourself and I will be back to get the meeting started. I am so happy you could join us" Megan smiles at Eli and walks out the front door to check on any other stragglers. Otis follows closely behind her and runs up and down the steps after a butterfly. Megan sits down on the front step taking in the sunshine and feeling the smooth breeze.

He watched her go, not given a chance to speak. A slight smirk on his face as he shook his head and started walking where she said. My oh my Elijah. You are quite the lucky devil. His smirk left as he went into the room, scolding the voice in his head. He went in and looked to the group of people, giving a slight bow and tipping his fedora. "Hello everyone. The pretty young lady sent me here? My name is Elijah. Elijah Blake. But please, call me Eli." He put the hat back on and sat down. "This is the... Mercury Group she said?"

Bag still slung over his shoulder, he approached the threshold of the living room, peering around the corner to the group. Oscar let out a faint, gruff sound of malcontent, this being his introduction before stepping into the company of the mercury group. Eyes wandered around at the few i,producing themselves, himself not partaking in such a festivity.

He found it much more suitable to stand there mute, uncomfortably shuffling his feet like some asshole. This was just his luck, and he wasn't surprised at all. He didn't know what he was expexting, but it wasn't some half assed group therapy session, which is what it seems he had walked into approximately 10 seconds after arriving.

It was safe to say his demeanor was more than a little stand offish.

"A card game sounds like a great way to get acquainted! And Megan did say we had 15 minutes." Ken said, taking the boy up on the offer. "So, your majesty, is there another name I can refer to you by?" He asked. "Also, if you missed it, though peasant is my first name, Ken is my second. And no, before you ask, I don't know Barbie." He said with a grin. "Besides, how many Ken Dolls do you see with hair as fantastic as this."

So Ken had a mouth on him... so that was something people usually got used to or ignored. And the folks in Mercury group obviously had put up with worse if they were here. He smirked at the Ice Queen who had said 'not to do that again'. He wondered what the worse she could do was... wanting to see, he made a mental note to 'do that again' at some point. He turned his attention back to the boy who had called them all peasants, pushing the Ice Queen to the back of his mind.

"Go Fish? What are we, 5? But hey, I haven't been 5 in a long time. Lets do this! Who else wants to play Go Fish?" Ken asked. "Lets see a raise of hands." He added, raising his hand high above his head.

Megan took a deep breath and stood up, "Well, come on Otis. Better get this party started." Megan holds the door open as the silly pug hops through the door and down the hall. Megan follows him into the living room. Otis walks over to the group of people and sits watching them play their card game. Megan heads over to the food, picks up a cup and fills it to the brim with sweet iced tea, grabs a sandwich and heads over to where the group is playing cards.

"How's it going over here? Oooh, Gold Fish! I'll play!" Megan smiles then takes a nibble from her sandwich. She pats the couch next to her to invite Otis up next to her and gives him a chunk of pickle. "So was the play easy to find?"

After seeing and reading the note, Olivia made her way downstairs and into the hallway where already she heard voices coming from another room. She figured she was headed in the right direction, she brushed away a lock of pink hair before peeking into the room. There were already plenty of people sitting down, food and drinks lined up, a group of people were playing cards. She put on a smile as she walked in, not sure which of them left the note but sat down with the group regardless. "My name is Olivia." She introduced, "I saw the note."

Eli was watching the game, analyzing them. You can tell a lot about a person based on the way they play a game. He silently thanked Megan for the drink and continued his observations. Eventually another person walked in. He looked over to her and scanned her. She seemed a bit nervous, of course. He scooter over to speak without interrupting the others, extending his hand to shake. "Hello there. My name is Elijah. I don't particularly know anyone else so I guess you'll be my first acquaintance?" He had a slight smile tilted more so to the right, running his other hand through his hair to better see her.
