Fantasy The Light of Aiaran

The Kingdom of Arnesta had known peace for eons, founded on the principals of freedom and order there were no wars, no fighting, no conflict of any major means. Petty theft and at best the occasional murder most societies face were all that occurred. This was all thanks to the Goddess' Airarans' Champion Riva as well as a nigh impenetrable force-field that guarded the city. The Champion was a powerful woman who drove back any force that dared try to breach the force-field. All was not well however, lurking behind the shadows were a race known as the Devan. Demonic and monstrous entities that sought nothing but war and bloodshed.

They abhorred the Arnestians peaceful nature, longing for the conflicts of old to start back up. Soon they were unable to contain the rage they felt for the peaceful races, breaking free from their sealed off dimension and wreaking havoc on the lands. For a time the Champion fought back all the Devan that threatened the kingdom, but even then they were too much and overwhelmed her; the Champion going out in a blaze of glory protecting as many retreating citizens as she could.

Following her death the wildlife and creatures outside the force-field would mutate, laying waste and devouring everything in their sights; including the Devan. Chaos on all sides much of the kingdom was lost. The force-field waning the King was able to protect and fortify but one city of two hundred thousand people; The capital of Draenas. Those who were unable to make it to refuge in time were left alone, either to be devoured or barely survive outside of the force-field.

Peace would be no more, everything the races knew tossed upside down and shattered in what seemed like an instant. Luckily..all hope was not lost. In a fit of rage and sadness for her people the Goddess' power exploded across the land, seeping into the ground, the water, and even some of the people. Those who were touched by her light shimmered with unimaginable power, the Devan that were touched instantly disintegrated; as far as witnesses saw. New Champions were marked, a sizeable portion of the surviving populous surging with newfound strength.

Though they were strong, they generally lacked training save for the people who were already warriors or had some form of combat prowess; either magical or physical. Nonetheless the new Champions wasted no time forming plans, going out and fighting, and claiming back their land. The process was going to prove to be long and arduous, the Kingdom being a vast place. Even more-so if the tragedy extended past it.

Regardless of the outcome it was time to fight back.

The Champions would make their stand against the foul creatures outside their sanctuary, or die trying.

5th of Jin, 30th year of Sol, 8:30 AM, Rainy

It was early in the morning for the kingdom of Arnesta, shortly after sunrise it had begun to rain. Luckily for those living in the sheltered kingdom the barrier allowed natural elements through. Or unluckily if you were one of many that were caught out in the sudden down-pour. Things had actually started turning around for the Arnestians thanks to the Champions being given their power. Word from other kingdoms had managed to make its way to the Capital stating much of the same. While they were certainly a very long way from winning the war, they at the very least had hope and had made some progress now. Despite this the King, an aged elven man with grey hair and a wrinkled face by the name of Alar, wasn’t sure if they even stood a chance. Sure, they had their Champions, several kingdoms that had survived the sudden outbreak did. However, many if not most of them lacked any sort of formal training with any kind of magic. Now, yes, most of the time it did come quite naturally to the user of the magic after practicing a little while. It didn’t compare to using their full potential that came from years of practice, not in the slightest. Nonetheless, at the very least, they were able to keep the Devan at bay thus far. That’s what mattered most. Keeping them at bay, honing their powers, and slightly expanding the reclaimed land outside of the city.

Outside of the barrier of course Devan scoured the lands for any kind of remaining Arnosian civilization. Small tribes, settlements, anything. The sudden influx of powers had destroyed more than a few Devan and surprised many as several people received their gifts mid combat or running for their lives. Those outside of the city luckily stood a chance of survival even if it were only minuscule. Even now however the Devan were planning and building, trying to amass forces and weapons strong enough for an eventual assault on the Capital.

The Champions however would be mostly unaware of this, of course no one is stupid, it would likely be a suspicion in most of them that something was eventually going to be done about their little bastion of hope. As of now, all the known champions employed by the King would be free to do as they wished. Though later that day they would be getting assignments, the King expecting intel on nearby Devan encampments courtesy of avian scouts. Above all, it was a perfectly normal yet rainy day for the survivors of the catastrophe.

Aliandra stood within the woods, staring upon five pathetic scouts who circled around her. Blood dripped down her frame, crimson pooling on the hungry dirt. She yawned, blood clotting over her fangs. Some of it splattered onto her chest, where a few arrows had pierced her skin. It was impressive that the scouts had tracked her down, especially with poisoned arrows. That goddess of theirs and that barrier was strong... but Aliandra had survived. The weakened dragon casually used her pinky claw to dig out a small ingot of crystal from her pearly whites. Golden taint grew along the base, but it didn't worry the millennial beast. She flicked the old flake of a wound into a tree without any worry. It shattered into stardust on impact.

Aliandra weighted her options. Six little Aiaran-Spawns? She really didn't want to kill them. It would just be a waste of time and effort... but their goddess did just blast her in the damned face now didn't she? A flare flew forward from one of the scouts, marking a weakened Devan to whoever could see the signal. That was the last straw, unfortunately. She reached down to her back, tapping her flabby flesh for a bit of suspense to the action. She grabbed the hilt of some arcane weapon, which got another volley of arrows to impale her skin. Crystal blood dripped out for a few moments, before crushing the arrow heads. She might as well kill two birds with one stone and just eat their bodies later...

Aliandra swooped forward, moving at an incredible speed for an athlete, let alone a woman of her size. The chest cavity of the man was bashed in by the hilt of the blade, while his friend found a gun Aliandra had hidden within her cleavage. The scout's pathetic soul was ripped right out of her, splattering against a tree to become a nymph another day. The body slumped to the floor, firing off the crossbow into her foot. The poison wasn't doing anything anymore, so the other four switched to their laser pistols and began blasting. Aliandra shattered into a storm of glass.

A few crunches from the foliage told the truth though. Aliandra leaped out of the shadows with glowing eyes, putting another of the scouts into a full nelson! She unleashed another soul round, knocking out the leg of one of the scouts. The scout crumbled when the next one shot the rest of the pathetic being's soul. This time, she had aligned it up properly, sticking the soul upon a tree. The foodie licked her lips, dreaming of how it would act like a seasoning for one of their flesh. Maybe she should marinate them in blood first? Wait, right... Flare. She had three more left. She casually snapped the throat of the scout she was holding. Two. With the flare up, it didn't really matter if she caught them. Eh, she should probably just do her ritual first off. She raised her hand and dragged the souls of the departed into herself. The nearby slaves would make excellent punching bags for her next party...

Qsundra - The Seer

Qsundra felt like she was floating through the clouds, though a more accurate representation was more she was bouncing a portion like someone might do in the back of a carriage. She had her eyes closed, not that it would matter as even if she opened her eyelids she wouldn't be able to see much else then pitch blackness. She was blind though not in a normal sense. Rather the snug feeling of the bandage that covered her eyes kept the world outside of her vision to allow her to see things a little... differently. Not all the time, just sometimes. A gift from her Village.... or a curse. She was leaning more towards the latter rather then the former lately. The girl scrunched up her face a portion as a weird sound escaped her lips, a similar sound to what one makes first waking up which isn't far from the truth. She'd somewhat dozed in the long journey to The Capital, her arms tensing as they remained slung around her Protectors neck and her fingers clenching in against the fabric of his shirt to remind herself he was indeed here.

She was always the most scared waking up from the sleeping world into the real world as there was no transition or visual to explain the difference. She constantly wondered if she was still sleeping or actually awake this time. She squirmed a little more against his back no doubt alerting him she was rousing from her slumber while her head started to lift up off his shoulder a portion as her nose brushed in against his ear in the motion. It was almost immediately she heard the rain pouring that sent a soft smile across her half covered face. Though her cloak and hood was now drenched and started to weigh down her frame and cause a shiver to course through her body.

It was cold... Though she would never say as such. She didn't want to worry him after all. She knew they had passed somewhat into the Capital by the sheer amount of ambient noises now flooding her ears, though they were muffled by the sounds of the rain.

"Are we there yet?" She said in a small voice, somewhat on the Tenor side. It was a valid question, she was only somewhat certain but not 100% without being able to see.
"...What does it look like?" She continued on before she had even received an answer to the first question, knowing she might only get a one word response.
"It sounds like it's raining..." Another cold shiver working down her frame though she didn't want him to worry. She was actually surprised she hadn't been overcome with a Vision the second they had entered town. Perhaps her body had forgotten how to do them... she could only hope right? While it was nice to see the world in hues of gold and a bright shimmer, the unpleasant visions were the ones that haunted her the most. And after her Village... she didn't really want to see another for quite some time.

Some time has passed since the 'Event' had occurred. That tragic day changed the brother's either in a big way or a little way. August was left to take the burden of avenging his family and protecting his brother all to himself. Those two reasons are what drives him to live on day by day. Within the wreckage August came across his mother's grimoire, that he reads on a daily, or simply whenever he can. The more he reads, the more knowledge he gains towards witchcraft and the world he leaves in. On this day, the 5th of Jin, August and his brother May was sitting at a table within the inn they use here and there. The inn was run by a family and a few other workers. The mother was the caretaker/ manager, the two daughter's were the servers/maids, the son was the cook, and the father...the huge, full bearded, 6'8 father was the security. The inn was a two story building with a nice fire place in the back of the main room. August and his brother was sitting at a table closest to the fireplace. The had only awoken minutes ago and were waiting on their breakfast. So far things between them were good, August was reading the Grimoire and making small talk with his brother. Soon the food arrives, being brought out by one of the pretty server daughters which were about the twin's age. The girl smiles at August flirtatiously just to receive nothing from August except a half smile and a plain 'thank you'. August looks at his brother knowing he must've seen what took place. "Not a word May. I already know what you're gonna say." He begins to imitate his brother. "You know Gusty, one day you're going have to drop that little fake guard you have up. Because if you don't you'll never see as much boobs as I've seen." He said with a bragging expression. "Now after you say that bullshit, Ima say, Shut the hell up and eat ya damn food Soft May." August finishes his statement with a grin, then proceeds to eat his food. He takes a bite out of his breakfast sandwich, and with a few chews he quietly spits it back out. August makes a disgusted face then looks at his brother. He leans in closer as he begins to whisper. "Is it just me or does this food taste like trash??" He asked his brother the cooking expert.

May Silver

The werewolf brother was leaning back in his chair, balancing rather precariously on two back legs of the seat with his feet crossed onto the table top. He was already trying desperately to comb his hair with his fingers because he woke up with a bad case of Bed Hair and didn't much like when it didn't co-operate. The problem was his hair almost never co-operated because of his race, and such it was an almost constant irritation for the man who took at least somewhat of a pride in his appearance. Eventually he gave up when the serving young woman wandered over with their food, taking in a huge deep breath to waft the scent and his stomach rumbling in unison.

Of course May saw the girl hitting on August. His eye sight was keen and it was hard not to see it really. When he turned to look to August and open his mouth as if to speak, the broody moody brother decided to answer for him instead. Though the words he spoke were true, his teeth gritted a portion to the imitation voice and his eyes slide sideways with an angry little hmmmff! noise escaping as he spoke under his breath. "My voice does not sound like that... thank you! And furthermore-.. well it's true." He said with a finality to his voice though his eye twitched to the Soft May comment.

"Are we really doing this at 8 in the morning?... Really?... This early? You know... forget it. I'll deal with you... after food." It smelt divine so it had to taste divine... right?...

Wrong.
Completely totally and utterly wrong.

It was horrible. Not sooner had his brother whispered did May's face contort into horror and he spat that food halfway across the Inn to land in the back of some guy's head enjoying his, he assumed, tasty meal. That wasn't all, May was so horrified and offended by the disgusting food that he stood up with the speed of a bullet and grasped at their table while throwing it sky high to spin and twirl and land with a resounding CRASH a good 10feet away. Sending the cutlery and ornaments on it to go flying and hitting the other patrons along with it, though he did grasp the offending brown meat in one hand to flail it around like a mad man.

"WHICH AMATEUR COOKED THIS GARBAGE! I SAID RARE STEAK! THIS, WHAT IS THIS?! THIS BROWN SHRIVELED TRASH IS NOT FOOD! IT'S LEATHER! WHERE IS YOUR COOK SO I CAN SLAM HIM WITH THIS STEAK! If it was tender he might not get hurt, but unlucky for him it MAY AS WELL BE A PLANK OF WOOD!"

"You're what?!"

The statement came out of Diana like a roar of a bloodthirsty animal. The office of the general became eerily quite. No conversation, no rustling of papers, even the coffee maker in the corner that never seemed to stop running was silent. The only person who wasn't affected by the angry roar was Marcel Ernest, Diana's older cousin.

"I'm retiring cuz. And if you were smart enough to realize that we're gonna lose this war you would do the same. What's the point in fighting for a doomed country?" He said, obvious unimpressed at his cousins actions. Diana's response could only be described as a growl.

"You damn coward. It's people like you that are the reason we're losing this war." Her ice cold glare was fixed on him, unmoving as he dared to stare back. He was the first to look away making her the winner of the glaring contest. Diana's grip on her desk became firmer as she tried to contain her anger.

"Look Dia there's no hope left for Arnesta, the Deven outnumber us greatly and we have no way to stand up to them. You're crazy if you think you can win this war!"

"Wars aren't won through hope." Her voice was ice cold. She left go of her desk and walked towards her cousin. Once in front of him her glare seemed to harden. "Get out of my office."

"But Dia-"

"I SAID GET OUT!" The roar of the general was back. "I WONT ACCEPT COWARDICE IN MY OFFICE, ESPECIALLY NOT FROM MY OWN FAMILY."

Diana clenched her fists as she took a deep breath to calm herself. Still looking her cousin in the eyes she watched as he slowly backed away from her as the only other Ernest left in the military exited her office. She was officially the only one of her family left.

Rage filled Diana after he had left and she grabbed the cup of coffee on her desk, throwing it into the wall behind her with a scream of anger. Breathing heavily she allowed a single tear to role down her face, wiping it away as quick as it came. Luke-warm coffee had splattered on her after she threw the cup, but she didn't seem to notice as she headed back to her seat. After she sat she noticed the room was still quite.

"Well?" She asked looking at her men. "Get back to work! And somebody clean up the mess over here, I refuse to work in an unclean office." She said as she grabbed her paperwork. Honestly, its like these soldiers had never seen a fight between family before.

Pitter patter, pitter patter. The soothing sound of rain colliding against the rooftops could be heard like a background orchestra, the rumble itself being the loudest noise filling the streets. That was until the first few drops landed precariously upon Fae's delicate skin, cheeks swelling only moments after to show their annoyance. Those bewildered hues glanced up, face lifting to peer at the sky that had darkened above like a called upon omen looming over them. As if to laugh in her face the light rain turned into a monsoon; perhaps that is a little over dramatic but that's what it felt like to someone who despised water. " AHHHHHHHHH, SERIOUSLY?! " The momentary wonder was wiped from her expression to be quickly replaced with a furious demeanor.

" Oh the weather is going to be so beautiful today, Fae. The weather forecast shows sunny skies he said. I'll get that damn AI and I'll wring his stupid lying smug slim neck... if he even had one, but that isn't the point. I AM COMING FOR YOU TERIOSS! " She screamed at the top of her lungs, foot colliding with a nearby crate to send it flying into a door. This particular door that happened to slam open had some destruction blooming into fruition on the other side of it. A slab of meat went flying towards her and Fae watched with wide eyes as the juicy steak planted itself across the entirety of her face with a loud sloppy wet slap sound. It took a few minutes before it slid down, hanging comedically halfway there as if the lower part was glued to her face before it entirely peeled itself off and plopped upon the wet ground. The culprit received a long sideways glance that was befitting a stone statue.

Another few seconds went by as the girl registered the entire thing, lips quivering from the future avalanche of curses and words piling up to stumble from them. " Are you fuckin' kidding me? My clothes are soaked. " Her lithe fingers grasped at the casual attire that had plastered itself to each extremity, tugging at it and releasing it with a snap. It offered a slight burn but that was nothing compared to the ridiculing werewolf duo making a scene. " And to top it off I have guys literally slapping me in the face with their meat. What a great day. I can't even imagine what the rest of it has in store for me. " If it weren't for the downpour that she had been caught off guard in, the one element that was a real damper of a weakness, she probably would've been amused by the undeniably humorous scene laid out before her. It wasn't every day that your face became the target of a flying steak.

The smell reached her nostrils and her nose instinctively scrunched up, breath being held as a hand shot up to shield her nose. If there was a time to be ungrateful for a heightened sense of smell it was definitely now. " I can even taste it, ugh,... the guy may be loud but he's got a point. " She groaned with immediate disdain, eyes squinting as if they were burning. At least it made sense why the guy was causing a scene, the freak out itself being rather warranted. Fae might not be an amazing chef but she certainly could do better than this. Those fingers kept a steady pinch at the bridge of her nose, causing her next flurry of words to sound nerdy in a weird adorable way as she fidgeted around uncomfortably. " Anyone have a change of clothes or a jacket or something? I'll pay for 'em. " The hand on her nose dropped as they began to pluck at the wet clothes. Her hips wiggled as she struggled to slip out of the soaked pants, managing to get them past her thighs to expose unscathed skin that was pristine and glistening wet from the rain.

The rather seductive image of her undressing was soon shattered as she began twirling around, flailing even, trying to get the remainder of her legs out and failing miserably as she tugged and pulled to no avail. " Hey you. " Her hues flickered over to the black haired brother, resting there and refusing to budge. She hopped over to him slowly, paying extra attention on the task at hand so that she didn't topple over into the ground and make a fool of herself. Soon she stopped in all of her shameless glory, pants twisted at her knees, and a pleading look to accompany it. " Mind helping me out of these, please? " She grinned in a friendly manner and let out an outward breath to try to send the damp strands of hair sticking against her forehead anywhere but there. They resisted and remained where they were, causing the smile to falter slightly. Today was a great day, a great day indeed and it all thanks to that good for nothin' AI. If it didn't power the adoration of her life, NYMFO, she would've probably told the program to go stick one.... wherever an AI can stick one.

A shiver erupted its way along her petite frame and each strand of hair along her body stood on end as she realized how damp she actually was. Me, Fae, defeated by the weather, story of my life. At least I got to stumble upon two rather cute guys, whom are definitely related. Take that misfortune! The weirdly growing smile that tugged on her lips portrayed just how pleased she was with these inner thoughts and revelations.

Squab
images (33).jpg

Somewhere off in the middle of nowhere, not far from the city of Arnesta waddled a odd little green creature by the name of Squab. He was on a very important mission, very important indeed. He marched towards Arnesta as the leader had ordered. His stubby little arms waving back and forth at his side. His little feet moving one after the other stomping the ground. He had been sitting in his chamber when he had received a call. He was pleasantly surprised to find it was from Lu, and that he was trusted with a mission of the utmost importance. So he got his little coat, and put it on, then marched out towards his goal immediately. After all, such an important mission couldn't wait. The guards at his door had saluted him,” sir,” they said standing tall. To which Squab waved a hand, putting them at ease.

After that he had taken a carriage towards the city, prepared to do whatever necessary to fulfill his mission. At any cost, no matter the sacrifice! He was a Squab on a mission, and nothing would stop!

"Crash!"

Suddenly Squab was on the ground, his big blank eyes blinking in confusion. A wheel from the carriage came rolling past him, and he simply watched it. Until it spun several times, then plopped on to it's side with a rattling noise.

Well this wasn't good, Squab had gone and crashed the carriage into a tree. Must have been when he was lost in thought. He often did this, he was going to try and work on it. But first, the mission wouldn't wait! So ever since then he had begun marching. He was very close to the city now, almost in view of the entrance. But something stopped him, an odd little winged creature fluttered in front of him. It was breath taking, beautiful black, and glowing blue on its wings. Squab stopped to watch the butterfly flutter around, smiling at it contently, and forgetting all about his mission. Then the butterfly landed on his face, right where his nose would be. That was if he had one, he just had little nostrils that couldn't really be seen.

His eyes suddenly crossed, and his mouth opened wide in awe. He moved his hands very slowly in an attempt to try and grab the butterfly. This movement seemed to frighten the butterfly though, as it began flying away. Squab panicked, he wanted to play more, he didn't want it to leave just yet. So he waddled after it as fast as his itty bitty legs could go. “Eh eeeeeeeeeiiii!” Squab made this noise as he attempted to catch his breath, not being much of the jock himself. But the butterfly flew not stopping, it seemed to keep just out of the reach of his tiny nub fingers.

Then he suddenly slammed into a invisible wall. “Eck!” Squab blinked flashes of light dotting his line of sight. He shook his head and the little lights disappeared. Then he stood and banged on the invisible wall, puffing out his cheeks in frustration as the butterfly seemed to get further and further away. He began breathing quickly, hyperventilating, then he had an idea! If he couldn't go through the invisible wall he'd go around it! But after smacking into the wall a few more times he figured he'd better come up with a different strategy. So he decided to dig, as only Squab could do. He dug his little hands into the ground, pulling up grass, and flowers. Then he saw the dirt, and smiled his funny little smile, and began digging at super speeds.

Unfortunately Squab didn't know when to stop, and ended up digging a bit further than intended. Although he quickly adjusted his route, thanked the mole people for their assistance, and dug upwards. Finally his odd little head popped out from beneath the ground. His eyes rising from the hole, a intense look on them as they scanned the area for signs of life. Oh! Then Squabs eyes widened in surprise as something landed on his head. He looked up to see it was his little butterfly friend. He smiled, and popped out of the ground, landing and almost toppling over as his chubby gut caused him to be off balance. Luckily he caught himself before hand, and raised his arms in victory. Then looked around at the strange new area he was in. He was going to check it out, but the butterfly flew off again. This time it must have had somewhere to be. It couldn't have been Squab, he had cat like reflexes after all.

So he decided to follow, in order to see where it was going. Maybe be could help it out, such a small frail looking creature must have needed the help of a big strong Squab. But the creature once again kept out of his reach, seeming to try and lose him. But Squab wouldn't give up, he was nothing if no persistent, he followed keeping his eyes locked on the butterfly, with it's glowing iridescent wings. Almost losing it in some bushes, but managing to keep track. Then the oddest sound hit Squabs ears as he was running after the butterfly.

"Crunch!"

Squab stopped, feeling that he stepped on something. He sat down to pull whatever it was off the flat of his foot. He squinted confused by what this new thing could be. It was furry, and seemed to have hands and legs, and a tail? Big ears as well, Squab was baffled by the creature. He hadn't seen anything like it before, he spent a lot of time indoors writing his bestselling book series after all. So there was a lot he hadn't seen, especially considering this was a new area for him. He tilted his head, staring with big blank eyes at the creature, then said,” squab?”

It didn't take much to rile up August's brother May, but messing up his food especially his steak will set him off real quick. August watched as his brother caused a major scene, which included him spitting his food across the room hitting some girl and also throwing the flipping table 10ft away from them. August sighs and face palms, knowing there's only two ways on how this will end; either them being thrown out of this place and in the rain, or everyone in this room will end up knocked out with injuries and broken body parts. "And here we go again." August said as he continued sitting there watching as his brother yelled, angering the people in the room. He looks at the back of the room as he taken notice to the brutish man making his way towards his brother. He's eyes narrowed as he focus on the man. If August remembered correctly the brute was the security and one of the owners of this joint. It also didn't help that his son was the cook, the cook May was asking for. To hit him no doubt, August thought. The father stood in front of May, standing over him at 6'7. He's face was filled with anger and his fist were clenched tightly. He grabs onto May's coat and lifts him up into the air. "The hell you say about me son's cooking you mutt!! I oughta throw you out to the Devans for what you said!!' He said threatening May. The others in the Inn were cheering the father on to do something about May. August on the other hand continued sitting down, drinking his juice. He knew first hand what his brother was capable. He knew he could handle the father so there was no need for him to get involved. Though if others in the Inn decided to step in August wouldn't hesitate step in and beat them all with his mug filled with juice.
The cheering continued as the tension continued to build. August was too focused on his brother and the father to realize the new scent that entered the Inn, the new scent the approached him half dress. The scent originated from a fairly unique and beautiful girl. She stood in front of him blocking his view of May. She asked August if he could help her take off her pants. August's eyes widened and his eyebrows rose as he heard her request. Yet another beautiful young girl hits on him, though this one was more straight forward than the others; something he actually liked. August expression relaxes and he begins scratching his head. He takes a sip from his mug then looks at the girl. She was soaked from head to toe with her hair stuck in her face. "So umm lemme get this straight. You want Me to help You take off your pants??...Alright." He said with a shrug. August speaks in an unknown language then snaps his fingers. A spell was cast to remove the girls pants off her body and into August's hand. If August had to be honest he'll acknowledge the fact that the girl actually had a nice body and he liked it, but good thing he wasn't. He couldn't allow himself to be distracted by just another pretty face."I would say you might wanna find a room here to freshen up, but at the way things are turning out here, this place might get trashed. Though lucky for you, I'm suddenly in a friendly mood." He sighs and removes his fur cloak and handing it off towards the girl. "Here wrap yourself up in that. I'm sure it'll keep you warm and keep the pervert's eyes off your body." He looks away from her grabbing his mug and finishing whatever was left. He then slams it down and looks back at her. "Now if you may, could you stand to the side. I must keep an eye on my soft brother over there."

Ah, the outskirts of the city. Sure it might have been a bit boring and it took awhile to get there, but hey! The barrier was still up, the green field was vibrant and nice, and it seemed like the perfect place to rest when the bustle and hustle of surviving the city life was too much at times. Ah, yes. A nice area of peace and quiet...

SHINK!

"SCREEEEEEE!"

Unless you were William, of course.

William huffed as he pulled out his needle from the chest of a praying mantis, causing it to flop to the ground right before another one jumped out from the tall blades of grass and charged, its two arms, sharp and green, out in front of them, ready to attack...until a thrown needle was lodged in its skull, causing the mantis to fall right in front of the cursed human, causing him to smile. "Jeez, guys. And here I was, praying that I was gonna have at least a semi-normal day today!" William joked with a snicker, yet it was kinda true. His little home was beginning to feel stuffy and fighting/running from alley cats while trying not to get stomped on at the city everyday was beginning to become a bit stressful. So, he had come here for a simple relaxation day. No scavenging or stealing pieces of bread, but just some cloud-gazing and taking a nap.

'Well, at least these guys get to snooze for awhile.' William thought, walking up to the latest dead insect and grabbing his needle again before pulling it out from the Mantis's skull, blinking when he saw that it was covered in clear Mantis Blood. "Aw. Ya got your juices all over it!" William pouted, wiping the blood away on a piece of grass. You might be thinking as to why a tinkerer such as himself would use a simple needle to defend himself when he could just build himself a (Albeit way smaller) better weapon? Well, that was because that would've taken a lot of time trying to find the quarters and nickels for metal. And then he'd have to find a heat source and blah, blah, blah. Shaking his head, William finished cleaning his weapon, looking at its now shiny surface with a grin, before moving onward.

At least the mantis here were easy to off. They just simply couldn't keep up with William. He was too smart. Too agile. And most of all, too quick. Especially when it came to reflexes.

STOMP!

...At least he thought.

Beneath the sudden green foot that decided to plop itself on top of him, a thin tiny tail wiggled in a panic from the back right before the foot lifted, revealing a dazed William practically embedded into it. "Note to self: ...Bring a helmet next time." William muttered before he was peeled off from the foot with a cartoonish pop. Dangling from his little fancy attire, William's eyes were comically crossed before he shook his head and stared into the eyes of a...

a...

...wait.

"...The heck are you?" William asked without really knowing, squinting his eyes at the big creature. It wasn't any animal he'd read about before...and it sure as hell couldn't be a Devan, right? Devan were either scary creatures with weird powers or hot demons who could transform into scary creatures with weird powers. But this thing seemed...harmless.

Squab, and Will collaboration
Sugary_Paragraphs Sugary_Paragraphs

“Squab!” The round weird little Devan said in response. Patting Will on the head, and placing him on the ground. He then plopped onto his rear, and stared down at the the little rat man, with his big vast eyes.”Squab!” He stated rather proudly, pounding his nub of a fist against his squishy chest.

William squinted his eyes when the blob-ish creature seemed to speak, shouting out a strange word before its big appendage reached forward and patted his head, his ears flopping backwards and his hair being tussled a bit before he found his feet touching the ground again. Okaaaay…? William watched as the creature sat down and just stared at him for a few seconds, causing the boy’s eyes to shift a bit, before it shouted that weird word again, pounding its fist(?) against his chest. “...Wait. So...you’re a ‘Squab’?” William asked, sounding out the word to see if he was saying it correctly.

There were A BUNCH of questions going through his head. He had met some pretty dopey-looking creatures in his past, but this one certainly took the cake. Nevertheless, William hummed and rubbed his chin before stepping forward, poking the Squab’s chubby belly in slight amazement. “Weird. Are you a Devan?” William asked, looking up at the thing with a raised eyebrow.

The belly jiggled in response to being poked, and Squab opened his mouth wide and let out a loud annoying,” SQUAAAAAAAB!” Then shut his mouth and was silent once more. Squab nodded at Will's question, then began to dig through what seemed to be pockets in his skin. It was almost toonish as he began pulling objects out that didn't seem like they should have fit. He pulled out a flashlight, a whistle, map, rubber ducky, (which he quickly picked back up). Then he pulled out a big binder that had a sticker on it that said,” Hello my name is Squab. Inside the binder where several head shots of Squab with some rather intelligent looking poses, and serious expression on his face. There was also a section with details on Squab. Although most were just questions that were answered with Squab. The very last thing said,” Attention, this Devan is Squab, he is a member of the Devan resistance. If found please return to Devan Resistance HQ, thank you.” Squab smiled, and squeaked his little rubber ducky happily. “Squabaaa.”

William held his ears in pain at the Squab’s exclamation. Okay. Looks like it didn’t enjoy being poked. The mouse-boy’s ears stopped ringing just as the Squab nodded at his question, causing William to give it a long look. This thing had to be lying to him. It just had to be. Maybe it was a weird animal that just came into existence? Or someone who was cursed just like him? William was broken from his thoughts when he saw the Squab moved again, blinking as he watched the nub disappear into his skin. Wh-What the-WHOA! William quickly moved to the side when a flashlight was suddenly thrown at the spot he was once standing on. He yelped when he quickly jumped back before the Whistle could succeed where the Flashlight had failed. The map...he just slowly shuffled to the side as it fell. Because it was paper. He let out a grunt when the rubber duck hit him in the stomach, however, causing him to flop to the ground. Pushing the duck off of him before the Squab had picked it up, he shook his head and crossed his arms. Okay. He wasn’t even going to ask anymore.

Finally, The Squab pulled out a large binder with a sticker on it that introduced the creature, causing William to snicker. Did this guy really need a binder to explain himself? After all, what could he possibly...William found himself a bit baffled when he (after a bit of effort) opened the binder. How did this thing have its own headshots?! He couldn’t even get his own headshots! At the end of the binder, he had to re-read the words to make sure his eyes weren’t deceiving him. Devan Resistance?! Wasn’t that the weird group of Devan who didn’t like the Aiarans, but didn’t like their own kind either?

William looked from the words to Squab, who was playing with a butterfly. Di-Did...Did Squab know that he was an Aiaran? “Okay...so you’re a Devan.” William huffed, closing the book. This guy actually looked pretty harmless. “You don’t look exactly like a succubus with demonic powers or a giant hell dragon...but you’re a Devan.” William repeated, finding himself slowly accepting it. “Okay...I dunno how ya got in here, but you kiiinda need to get out.” William said, gesturing toward the city in the distance. “I don’t think you know this, but that city over there HATES you guys.” William explained, talking as slowly as he could to try and get through. As confusing as this Squab was, he didn’t want to see it get skewered alive when it didn’t do anything wrong. And how COULD it do anything wrong?

Squab gave Will a look that showed he clearly didn't understand his words. He didn't seem concerned in the least about where he was. He shrugged, and went back to playing with the butterfly, and his rubber ducky. Squeaking the rubber ducky, and chasing the butterfly around. Laughing, and running in circles, his short arms flailing to reach for the butterfly, which then landed on Will. Squab stopped, and stared at Will with a unnerving focus. He got on his hands, and put his face real close to Will. Then in one quick move he licked the butterfly off of Will. The butterfly simply stuck to Squabs tongue. Squab cheered keeping his tongue out to show his prize.”Skwab!” He said his words mushed around due to his tongue being unavailable for use.

Zeb and Sil text.png

The research center was surprisingly quiet today. The only thing that could be heard from inside was the idle chatter and machines doing their thing. Then footsteps could be heard walking down the hallway, heading towards the office of the Head Scientist, Lucius Zebediah. Of course the source of these footsteps was none other than Silvia Esther heading to deliver her daily report. As the Head Scientists Apprentice it was her duty to check up on the building's equipment and status of the available staff. But it was a completely normal day, the equipment was making satisfactory performance and the majority of the staff has checked in with no problems. Silvia reached Lucius' office and gave a light knock before opening the door. "Doctor. I have arrived with the report." Meanwhile Dr Zeb peeked his head from behind the TV, surrounded in tools. "Aren't you supposed to wait for me to let you in after knocking?" "I tried doing that before but it turned out you we're in a deep sleep when I did." "Ah whatever... Just leave the report on the table and help me fix this damn TV." Silvia looked towards the screen which was nothing but static. She moved closer and slightly adusted one of the annteneas.

Then the TV came back to life. "You can build anything you want with your new powers yet you can't fix a TV?" Zeb stared blankly for a moment before sighing and going to grab some drinks. "This television only came in recently you know. I've never actually used one until now. Anyway I just wanna watch something. You ever heard of Meet the Squabs?" "No?" "Aw you're missing out! It's one of my favorite shows!" "Didn't you say you never used a TV before?" "I lied. Now grab a drink and sit with me." Silvia pinched the bridge of her nose along with an annoyed sigh before doing as he said. This is the kind of thing she deals with on a daily basis. However she is used to it at this point. She sat on the couch and stared at the TV. "Don't we have more important things to do Doctor?" "Yup." "Shouldn't we be dealing with those things now?" "Yup." "But you want to watch your show first right?" "Yup." "Figured..."

Emikou Ellion.
cR0sFSk.jpg

The young raven-haired girl stood near the front door of her home as she got her last few things in order. Another day meant another routine to go through. She was about to head out the door when a woman's voice floated through the hallway to give her pause. "Emikou! Don't forget an umbrella, it's suppose to rain today!" The girl looked down at the folded up umbrella dangling from her wrist and rolled her eyes before calling out a response. "I know, Mama, I already have it. I'm off!" And with that the girl slipped out the front door with a farewell from her mother sneaking out just as the door swung close. She took a moment to look up towards the sky, the clouds beyond the barrier being rather gloomy looking. The grey sky brought a small smile to her face. She had always preferred it overcast and adored storms of any kind. That said she didn't want to spend too much time out there and she did have business to attend to before school and so without further ado she got underway.

The girl quickly took her leave of the main streets and instead opted to travel through the various back alleys. Those who wanted a little more privacy tended to lurk back there and she found that it suited her needs perfectly. Indeed she went out of her way to make herself an appealing target as she wore an air of obliviousness and innocence; the perfect target for a crime. It wasn't long into her commute that she rounded a corner only to come face to face with a pair of men who were noticeably surprised by her sudden appearance. She gave the pair a small smile and tried to quickly squeeze past them when one of the two reached out and gabbed her by the arm, stopping her in her tracks. "Whoa now, what's the rush? This might be one of those fated meetings, no reason to run off on it." A faint grin inched across her lips as the man spoke. Jackpot. There was always someone stupid enough.

Playing her part she quickly turned to look at the duo, worry clearly visible on her features. "I-I apologize but I really must be on my way. If I were to accompany you I would find myself tardy." She peered up at the men demurely with her one visible eye, the other covered by her long bangs. The two men just exchanged glances as they each let out a laugh. "We must have some high class lady in our presence with the way she talks." The man holding her turned his gaze from his buddy back to her before continuing. "So, is that it? You some kinda rich girl? This really was a fated meeting! Whatdya say we go somewhere a little more comfortable?" The girl pulled against the man's grip as he spoke but the difference in strength was far too vast for her to overcome. "I truly can not go with you, please unhand me!" Her pleas fell on deaf ears as she was dragged along further down the alleys.

As they got further from the main streets that grin returned to her lips, wider and more sinister than ever. Eventually they came to a stop in an area that could be described as anything but comfortable. The duo turned to look at the girl and were noticeably surprised by the expression she sported. "What's with that grin? You lookin' forward to this or something?" She looked at the man that spoke and then his friend before speaking with a half-laugh. "Of course I am! There's no greater joy than doing this!" Gone was the fancy way she spoke before, the demure attitude and demeanor having taken flight along with her speech. "Fourth Hour: Freeze!" She called out in a gleeful voice, the man yanking her arm as anger welled up inside of him. "What are you playing at, bitch? Yo, get something to tie her up with!" The man held her roughly as she just grinned up at him like a kid desperately trying to hold in a secret. When no response came the man turned to find his buddy just standing there, completely frozen. "Oi, what gives? Stop just gawking and do something!"

The man was forced to look back at his 'victim' as the girl let out a loud laugh. "I'm sorry but you're on your own now. But don't worry, I'll solve your loneliness." She reached up with her free arm to lay it gently on the man's face. "Tenth Hour: Consume." She breathed the words out causing the man to attempt to pull away but finding himself unable to move a muscle. "W-what have you done? Let me go!" Her grin grew into a full blown sadistic smile, her cheeks flushing slightly as she felt her spell take effect. "I'm taking your time - your life. I've heard it's excruciatingly painful. The last person I did it to said it was the most painful thing they had ever experienced." She let out a breathy sigh as the man started to let out pained chokes. He could now feel his life flowing from him, his entire body screaming in pain as every nerve and neuron was forced to go through their aging cycle at a blistering pace. "Isn't it delightful?" She kept her eyes locked on his, the terror, the panic, the tears. A shiver ran down her spine as she watched his face contort and twist. There truly was nothing greater in this world.

The pain became too much for the man and he started wailing at the top of his lungs. He was beyond the point of being able to form words. No, his anguished cries were like that of an animal being mauled to death. As much as she wanted to enjoy his screams of agony they were still in the city and so she quickly moved her now freed arm to cover his mouth and muffling the screams. "Shhhhh, none of that now." The muffled cries against her hand had their own charm, though, and with the process well under way she simply enjoyed watching his body wither before her. After several minutes the man's voice fell silent and she brought her hands away to let the body slump to the ground as the last traces of time were sapped from it to leave only a pile of dust and some more stubborn bone fragments. She brought her hand that had been covering his mouth to her lips, gently licking her finger tips as she let out a contented sigh. "Thanks for your hard work. Now let's take care of your friend."

The scene would largely repeat itself until she had her fill and simply stepped out of the alley back onto the streets. It always amused her as she watched all the people just go about their daily routines none the wiser of what just took place just a few dozen meters away. As if nature itself reacted to the murders she had just committed droplets of rain began to descend on the city. She brought out her umbrella, unfolding it as she glanced at a nearby clock, her expression darkening somewhat as she realized she had spent way too much time enjoying herself. Given how late she already was she resigned herself to her fate and took a more leisurely stroll towards her school. She would need an excuse anyways, may as well enjoy the weather along the way.

"Fuck! I knew we shouldn't have come here!" A girl holding a magitek rifle shouted as a group of 7 people ran through a claustrophobic tunnel. They were breathing heavily and they all seemed very exhausted, as if they have been running all day, but none of them dared to even stop to catch their breath. All of them were cursing and blaming each other for the predicament they were in.

"Just shut the fuck up and keep running!" The man at the front of the group shouted as he led the way with his magitek torch. This isn't happening, the man thought to himself. "Don't you even dare try to fight that thing, just keep running!" He shouted. They have already tried to fight it and they lost four party members instantly. It was terrifying how it could move so fast with that size, but most terrifying of all is how it seemed to play with them.

It was toying with them in a way similar to cats toying with mice before devouring them. It would purposely let them go just to ambush them later on. "Dammit, we shouldn't have gone here! I warned you!" A large man carrying an axe said. This was the rumored lair of a strong Devan, and these overconfident party decided they can take the monster on. How wrong they were.

The 10 of them were doing a great job at first, easily dispatching the worm-like monsters that they encountered. Everything was going swimmingly, until they got to the main chamber that is. In the center of the tunnels and cave network was a large open space. It had a wide and high ceiling akin to a cathedral and glowing moss gives off a bluish luminescent light. What caught their attention was the countless of magitek items and crystals in the chamber. There were a lot of variety too, from common household items to different types of weaponry. It was all arranged in a rather artistic way, as if it was used as a decoration. The contrast with the advance technology to this cavern was also quite nice.

Of course they were excited. They didn't even break to get here and now they see a bunch of magitek just lying around. How can anyone not get excited? Before they could get their hands on anything however, they heard a scuttling sound. It sounded like hundreds of centipedes crawling around and it brought a chill down their spines. "My my, it seems my toys have arrived." A female voice could be heard in their minds. "Try not to break while I play with you, okay?" Her voice was soothing and beautiful yet the contents of her words were downright terrifying.

Before any of them could react to could react to the unknown threat, a popped up from underneath the earth and dragged on of them under the ground. The poor girl couldn't even scream before her head plunged underneath the ground. It was then that he realized that, unlike the tunnel, the ground wasn't hard packed dirt. Instead it was loose soil, similar to tilled fields. In fact, he hadn't noticed that the ground was soft enough that they had sunk up to their ankles. They had been too distracted by the treasure before them that they never saw the danger beneath. The weak opponents to make them complacent, the blue light overhead that made it hard to notice the soft ground, and the mounds of treasure to keep them off guard. All of these were prt of a trap, a trap made for them.

They tried to take a stand against it at first. They thought that, since their opponent relied on ambush and stealth that they only need to make to surface. One of their members froze the ground with his magic, leaving a layer of snow thick enough to give them proper footing. They had thought that it would prevent the creature's tentacles from piercing through the soil. The party formed a defensive formation, protecting their more fragile rearguard with the defensive vanguard. It was a good formation and it would have worked had they not been fighting this creature.

A scythe the size of a man burst out of the frozen ground, scattering ice and soil as it speared one of their members and cut another with a different scythe. All of it happened in a split second, none of them had even glimpes the creature that attacked them. "It's a pity, they break too easily." The voice in their minds spoke, sounding sad and pitiful. Had they not known what a horrifying monster the voice belonged to then they may hae felt pity, but all they felt was fear and dread.

"I have an idea! Why don't we just play tag?" The voice suggested, her voice back to being playful and energetic. "All of you run, and when I count to ten then I'll come to chase you!" Without even bothering to reply, the group dashed towards the tunnel they entered from. Thus we are back to where it started, with the group running furiously for their life. To their surprise, the creature actually kept its word. They could here it counting in their minds, and after the dreaded number ten was heard in their minds, the also heard the scuttling of hundreds of legs.

"Fuck she's here! Get out of my way!"A man screamed in desperation as he bodily pushed the person in front of him, causing the person to fall. Screaming soon resounded in the tunnel as the first victim was claimed. The leader refused to look back even as his friends and allies started screaming as the monster claimed them. Tears was flowing down his cheeks as he vowed to avenge them, an excuse he used to ease his conscience.

The man, who was about to lose all hope, saw a light at the end of the tunnel, literally. "We're nearly there! We can make it!" He shouted in glee, his voice filled with hope and happiness as he saw their way out of this hell. No one answered him however, which can only mean one thing. He was alone. All of them had died and he was the only one left. But it doesn't matter, he was alive! He made it!

He was inches away from the entrance when his body suddenly fell. He could not move, all that he could do was blink as he started to be dragged back into the tunnel. "You were so close! How does it feel to be inches away from safety only to be caught?" The voice asked him. What the man felt that day was not fear, not even terror. It was hard to put into words, but only one thing went through his mind as he was pulled into the darkness.

We should never have come here.

Luciela 'Lu' Serona

Location: Draenas Marketplace - Bakery -> Bar Brawl
Mood: Bored
Thought: Gimmie the cake.
Mentioned: Zooks Zooks The Elder The Elder Kyuubey Kyuubey Anyone Anyone wanting to spot them

Luciela stared with narrowed, slightly angry, eyes at the baker on the other side of the counter. The baker in question was a rather portly and balding man with a rounded face and, well, generally he was a round man altogether. Despite how oh so very intimidating Luciela looked he was glaring right back at her, bushy eyebrows akin to a caterpillar knitted together to form a singular unibrow. “What do you mean I don’t have enough money for the cake..?” She asked her, the concept of funds eluding the girl. She had stolen some money from some random person and assumed she could buy what she wished with it. While, she did actually have more than the singular bill on the counter on her person, the bill had a 1 on it so she assumed it meant one bill one item. Now sure, the Devan civilization did have money. Though it was more based on faceless coins than paper money or some such like that, so how was she to know one dranet(Essentially one dollar) wouldn’t buy an entire chocolate cake?

The man would simply sigh heavily, his large belly somehow managing to protrude further now that he had relieved some of his hot air. “Look, kid, I told you-“ He began, only for Lu to cut him off. “I AM NOT A KID!” She insisted, absolutely furious, that being one of her trigger points. Ciel meanwhile sat off to the side in one of the chairs set up at small tables for patrons to enjoy usually tea alongside their pastries. “Lu. I think he just wants more of the paper..” He told her flatly, sighing and shaking his head. As amusing as it was, she was being a bit silly. Really all they needed to do was steal more of said paper if she needed more later. It wasn’t as if most of these people were strong enough to withstand them or anything.

Lu grumbled rather adorably under her breath before taking out more dranet, placing a twenty on the counter. “Still not enough.” The man pointed out, the cake in question being quite large after all. Sure it cost a fraction of what she was paying to make it…however he didn’t own such a nice establishment selling things cheaply. At this point Ciel sort of scooted off to the side. “You’ll take that much and be happy!” She growled, pouncing over the counter to topple the man over, said man hitting the ground with a decently loud thud as his frame jiggled slightly. Before he could recover from his dazed position Lu snatched up the cake and dove back over. “Let’s go Ciel c’mon!” She shouted, sticking her tongue out at the baker before dashing out. Ciel looked over, smirked at the man and shrugged, before standing and running out after her.

It wasn’t until she was a decent pace from the building that she realized it was raining. And of course, cake and rain didn’t mix well together. Luckily for them, or maybe unluckily? They were very near the Inn that from the outside sounded like a separate war entirely was going on. “In there!” She insisted, frosting from her cake already beginning to drip onto the ground. Ciel was going to protest for rather obvious reasons…though Lu had already ducked inside.

Dodging a chunk of chair that flew her direction she stood off to the side in a corner that was surprisingly untouched by the brawl going on. “Table.” She stated simply, Ciel nodding in response as he reached into seemingly thin air and pulled out a table and two chairs.

608b3b9dc70af60acd8c2c07bff79a93.jpg

“Thank you~” Lu stated in a cheery tone before sitting down. Next of course came silverware and a plate, Ciel assuming that Lu would at the very least maintain some semblance of table manners instead of burying her face into the cake. They were trying to blend in…though…he also guessed magically summoning a table wasn’t blending. Although, quite a few people got odd powers as of late so eh.

Finally came tea, of which Ciel poured both of them a cup before sitting down and observing the chaos before them. Lu wasted no time at all eating, surprisingly with the silverware provided, a happy smile gracing her lips as she seemed to be in her own blissful cake filled world. Dodging a plate he sighed heavily, calmly sipping on his tea, arching a brow as he watched a wolf-like man magically rid a woman of her pants. “I…what..?” He muttered to himself. Of course, being human before all of this, he could very well understand why. But in the middle of a bar brawl? That truly was something he didn’t see in his out of the way village. Perhaps he should of came to the Capital sooner, who knew what he could of witnessed before now.

For now he played the silent observer, watching as everything unfolded, and occasionally stopping a fork or knife from stabbing out eithers’ eye.

William And Squab Collab Combo!

William tilted his head, watching the Squab continuing to play with that rubber ducky it found and a butterfly. It was like talking to a brick wall. He didn’t even think the creature knew what it was supposed to do here. He looked back at the book again and hummed. He couldn’t let the guy just wander into the City. It’d be too much of a panic, and Squab could get killed. And it wasn’t like he could take him back to his house. The guy was too big! He walked up to the binder and heaved it open again, flipping it to the last page. There was only one thing to do. He had to return Squab back to the resistance. His eyes twitched at this. In his entire life, William had only met two Devan. And one of them was the sole reason why he was this small. The other literally stepped on him the first time they met. The thought of going to wherever Squab came from and meeting more made his back tingly...and heavy…

Wait.

William blinked and looked into the eyes of the butterfly that seemed to have taken residence on his back, its legs all over William’s back. The boy snorted just before he squeaked from the sudden wet feeling slide up his back, drenching his clothes. Whirling around, he pouted at Squab, yet it dissolved into a big when he saw Squab present the butterfly proudly to it. D’aw! How could he be mad at that face? Fine, he’ll do it! He needed something to do anyway. “Alright, Squabby!” William began, walking forward and patting its belly. “Let's make a deal, eh? How about you lead me back to wherever you came from? And in exchange, I’ll be your friend! Your best buddy! Your Pal, Chum, Amigo!” William proposed. “I’ll even hang out with ya as soon as we get there!” He held out his hand. Of course, he could’ve just told the Squab to go back home by itself, but it’d get distracted again. “Deal?”

Squab started at Will, he seemed to be proposing some sort of arrangement. Squabs English was broken at best. But he thought he got the jist of what the small rodent man wanted. He wanted to be Squabs friends, and help Squab with his mission, which he just remembered he was on. Squab blushed happily, holding his hands together and wiggling side to side, in a sort of swaying motion. When Will held his hand out Squab wasn't sure what to do. So he just did something he had seen in his comics. He swatted Will’s hand with his own rather roughly. Although Squab didn't know his own strength, and was sure to have messed up once again. “Squab!” He stated happily.

William grinned at seeing the Squab look so happy. Looks like it agreed. It then looked at his hand with a confused expression, to which William raised an eyebrow at. Did it not know what a handshake wa-GAH! The force of Squab’s nub slamming into his caused him to spin and stumble backward onto his butt, holding his arm, which was now aching in pain. “O-OW!” William exclaimed, slowly standing back up. He looked back at Squab, smiling despite the pain. “Okay...high fives are cool too.” William said simply, walking past Squab and toward the barrier. “Anyways, let’s go before it gets dark.”

Squab looked at his new friend confused, why was he going in the wrong direction? Silly little friend, Squab would correct him. So Squab waddled over, his arms outstretched to pick up Will. Then he turned Will in the other direction, towards the city, and began marching once more.”Squab Squaab Squab Squab, squa Squa squa Squab.” Squab said in a music tone of voice as he marched on. Music sure did help past the time, Squab enjoyed it very much. He wondered if his new friend enjoyed music? He would ask him, he turned to Will smiling his toothy smile.”Squab?” He asked still walking, although looking at Will, not paying much attention to where he was going.

William’s legs dangled in the air as he found himself being picked up. “He-Hey!” He exclaimed, finding himself back down on the ground and toward the city. Wait...what? He watched as the Squab began to waddle toward the city. Did...Did it know that it was supposed to take William back to the resistance? Unless...William’s eyes widened. Some of the resistance was actually IN THE CITY. William shook his head. No. That wasn’t possible...right? Curious, William walked next to Squab, being able to keep up a bit before his eyes looked up at the creature, blinking in confusion when it's ‘Squab’ sounded more like a question than its usual exclamation. “...Uh-Uhm...Sq-Squab?” William answered back unsurely, giving it a thumbs-up.

Squab stopped walking, and blinked at Will in an awkward silence. He had asked if Will liked singing, but Will had replied by calling him beautiful. This caused Squabs entire body to burn a hot red in embarrassment. Squab rubbed his arms where elbows would be, and timidly whined,” Sq-squaaab.” He said looking away from Will bashfully. Then a sudden delicious scent hit his nose, and he turned to it. Lifting up will and placing him on Squabs skull. Oddly enough as the weight of the tiny mouse man pressed against his head. Squabs head seemed to cave in almost like memory foam. Making for a cozy seat,” Squab!” He said in a battle cry, and charged towards the smell. He didn't pay attention to anything but the source of the smell. A intensely focused expression on his normally derpy face. Then, he found himself surrounded by strange looking people. Hmm, these people looked like the farmer, and little girl who had taken Squab in so long ago. He smiled wide, and skipped around waving and cheering at people happily. Only stopping when he saw some heavenly. His eyes widened and he let out a sound of amazement,” squaaaaaaaaaahh.” He said walking up and inside the bakery, where he pressed his squishy face against the glass, staring at all the pastries.

William had skidded to a complete stop when he saw the Squab just stand there again. Did he...do something wrong? William rose an eyebrow, fists on his hips and little mouse tail wagging curiously, when the Squab’s skin turned from green to red for a moment. “What?” William said, eyes shifting left to right before looking back at the now timid Squab. “...What?” He asked again. Seriously, what was going on? The awkward moment had quickly died, however, when the Squab had became distracted yet again, turning to something. William looked in the same direction, but just saw the city in the distance. A certain smell had caught his more sensitive nose. Smelled like cake and pie. “Man. The bakery sure does know how to cook eEEEEM?!” William squeaked when he was grabbed again.

He was then placed on the Squab’s head, an odd squishy surface that once again caused William to sink, before Squab took off running in the city. William’s eyes widened in alarm. Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! Sure, William had his moments of charging in without a plan too, but that was different! He was human, this guy was a Devan! They couldn’t just take a jog through the cit-aaaand, they were in the city now. “Uuuuh...Squab?” William called but no answer. He sighed, looking up as the smell had gotten stronger...wait. He was heading for the bakery! William held on for dear life as Squab dodged multiple long legs, various cries of alarm sounding from the little haymaker. Finally, they had arrived at the bakery, a whole cornucopia of delicious pies, cakes, and other pastries. William had actually made plans to ‘borrow’ at least a crumb of one of their pies here. William couldn’t help but drool a little at one Cinnamon Roll airing out on the counter, but made a loud ‘Ooof!’ when Squab pressed his face into glass, causing him to tumble into it.

“Ugh...Squab? We need to get you a seatbelt.” William muttered, looking around. “Squab. I’m all for some pastries, but I’m not gonna sugarcoat this...I’m pretty broke.”

Squab was hypnotized by the glorious concoctions that laid before him. They smelled like Squab gullasch just like they use to make back home. His mouth salivated a string of saliva stretching from his mouth and hanging just above the floor. Then he wiped it off, and licked his lips,” ahhhhhh, squaba Squab.” He said pressing his hands against the glass that displayed all the food. He turned and waddled to the side, until he finally figured out where to go. He leapt onto the counter, while the strange bald man was busy yelling at someone about something Squab didn't care about. Then he leapt down behind the counter, and shoved a pie into his mouth. Not even taking it out of it's holder. He swallowed it completely, and then his eyes began to glow a rainbow of colors. He smiled a big goofy smile, and leapt into the display case. His short chubby self squished by the glass, but he continued to squirm through, his mouth gaping open. He was almost like pac man eating the little dots as he devoured all the pastries inside the display case.

Aaaand Squab wasn’t paying attention to him...again. William pouted, mouse ears twitching a bit in annoyance. “Squab.” William called. No answer. William stood up and watched Squab waddle to the side of the counter. “Squab!” He called again. He stomped on its head to try and get its attention, but was met with his foot just bouncing off, causing him to stumble right as the Squab leapt, the combined effort making him fall face-first into the wooden floor. “...Well…” William said, his voice muffled due to his face being pressed into the floorboards. With a loud pop, he pushed himself up and looked around. Okay. Where was Squab now-OH MY GOODNESS!

“Sq-Squab!” William exclaimed, quickly running to the glass display to see Squab INSIDE IT EATING EVERYTHING. “Du-Dude! Stop!” William yelled, jumping up and down. This was sloppy stealing! No stealth, no distraction, he just climbed in and started digging in! Sure, that might’ve worked for William a few rare times, but Squab wouldn’t be so lucky. “Squab! We’re leaving right NOW.” William huffed, putting his foot down. He wouldn’t let his record of clean getaways get ruined from this one incident!

Squab had eaten everything in the display in a matter of a minute. He laid in the display case his arm hanging from the edge. His normally chubby belly even more so now.”Ugh, Squab, Squab.” He said expressing how he felt like he was going to explode. Then he heard someone yell, and looked up with a startled,” Squab?” As one of the workers at the bakery had noticed him. Squab leapt out of the display case, landing on his belly causing himself to belch like a massive beast. The smell was terrible, and caused a sort of smoke scream for them.”Ugh what the hell is that little monster!” The baker yelled, and Squab turned and lifted up Will. Quickly waddling out of the bakery screaming,” SQUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAB!” His little legs burned as he ran avoiding the pots, pans, and other object the baker's threw at them. He zigzagged as a ladle came sailing past him. Then he noticed a familiar face, it was Lu! Squab was saved! So he turned, running into a crowd of people after Lu. “Squab! SQUAB!” He called out, although he got no answer seemingly having lost Lu among the people. The only good thing being he had also seemed to have lost the baker's. Squab, walked into an alley way, and sat down against the brick wall. He had placed Will in his pocket, when he made his escape, so he wouldn't fall. Now he took will out, then reached into his other pocket, and pulled out the cinnamon roll he had noticed Will gazing at before. “Squab.” He said apologetically, sorry he had caused him so much stress. But now Squab was lost, and had no idea what to do.

William face-palmed the sight of Squab. It had managed to eat everything...everything! Hearing the Squab’s groans, William rolled his eyes. “What did ya think was going to happen? Anyways, come on, we gotta skedaddle or else-” William flinched at the sudden yell that sounded around the bakery. With a small sweatdrop, the mouseboy turned to see the towering bakery worker look at Squab with confusion and a bit of disgust. Not good. William opened his mouth, preparing to try and talk their way out of this, but a sudden movement from Squab that resulted in gaseous burp that actually made green smoke interrupted him. Unamused, William turned to Squab and clenched his nose. “Dude. Forget pie. We need to get you a breath mint st-and up I go again.”

Thrown back on Squab’s head, the two had made their not so clean getaway, dodging multiple cooking utensils, William making a matrix-esque evasion from a ladle that soared overhead. “WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!” William yelled through the commotion, but was only met with Squabs of excitement. They were soon lost in a sea of people, causing William to hold onto Squab’s head a bit tighter. Squab may have been the squishy one here, but William was pretty sure if he was thrown off now, his body would be turned into red mouse paste. Luckily, Squab had took a turn into an alleyway leading them off from the crowd of people. Still, that didn’t change William’s attitude toward this whole situation.

“GAH!” William exclaimed, jumping down from Squab’s head and glaring up at the creature. “What was that, man?! We could’ve been-” He was stopped when he saw the cinnamon roll come out of Squab’s pocket, causing William to sigh. “Really? Couldn’t leave the bakery without one snack, hu-?” William was interrupted when Squab handed it to him. William looked down at it. How...How did Squab know he wanted this? Confused, he looked up at Squab, flinching in guilt when he saw the creature look down apologetically...Damn. Now he felt like a complete stiff jerk.

“...Look. I’m sorry for acting like a wet blanket.” William apologized, looking up at Squab. “But if we’re going to be friends, you have to stop running off, otherwise, you might get hurt...or worse. Trust me, I’ve been living around here for years.” William said, patting Squab on the belly before sighing. “Lets rest up here and figure out a plan, okay?” William said, sitting down next to Squab and biting into the cinnamon roll. “~Mmm.” He hummed in delight, a big smile on his icing covered face as his tail wiggled happily, ears twitching. Good. Some peace and quiet. And hey, since all the worst stuff already happened, nothing else could go wrong, right?

Rain descended upon the two, causing William’s eye to twitch as he watched the dirty rainwater attempt to get into his pastry. “No! This can’t happen!” William cried. His delicious cinny roll was going to become tainted by the dirty rainwater. Eye twitching, William looked around wildly before he spotted a girl holding an umbrella. “Squab!”

“Squab?” The Squab answered, looking at the Mouseboy quizzically. Its gaze followed to where the mouseboy was pointing, tilting its head at the girl as the water descended upon its head.

“Follow that umbrella!” William cried, hefting the cinnamon roll on his back before running toward the girl. Squab quickly hefted itself up, stumbling forward as it found itself being more heavy than usual, before waddling after William. Due to their small size, the two managed to run under the umbrella undetected for the most part, William making plans to reside wherever this girl was while Squab tried to move his now puffier body, the rainwater that absorbed into his skin like a sponge making him look like a Devan Green Marshmallow.

The ashes of a rather poorly made cigar fell to the dirt, the individual smoking it releasing a sigh as he pulled it from his teeth, his bandaged hand rolling it in his fingers. Glaring down at the soil that was the mouth of the rumored cave he had come to investigate, he couldnt help but smile.

Marks were still left in the dirt. Must have been clawing for freedom. Fools. This cave was apparently the culprit to several disappearances. People think they are brave enough, walk in thinking they can just take what they want. If only they were abit smarter, they would have realized this wasnt a cash in job. This wasnt a get rich scam. This is an offering. Now this man just wants to see what it's for.

His feet stepped down the rough corridor with an eerie tap, and he couldnt help but grin, his visible eye releasing a bright shine. He was excited. This thing took alot of lives. He could feel whats left of them shifting throughout this place. Pathetic.

"What resides here, in this dark tunnel. A beast of man maybe? A demon of otherworldly origins? Or is it more simple than that. Is it just man's sins collecting here, seeking form as it dwindles away in darkness...or a simple bug, grown to big for its shell. To terrified to come into the light, you wait here, hoping a poor soul will come down this path for your next meal? Are you simply scraping by, having to use man's greed to satisfy your own yearning." He took another drag on his cigar as he passed into the loose soil, shaking his head.

"No...I shouldnt insult you like that. Its rather ingenious, using greed to draw in humans. Your a true hunter. Why leave your home when your prey is stupid enough to walk up to your plate." He chuckled, tapping away ashes as he grinned "indulge a lowly human, if you would. What do you do when your bites back? Simply kill them? Toy with them? Torture them? Or are you more...sinister then that? And if so, how do you deal with prey thats already dead? I bet your one for fresh food, hmm?"

The girl kept to the side's of the street as she made her way to her destination. The streets were always bustling with activity at this time as everyone rushed to get on with their daily routines. If one wasn't careful it was quite easy to get swept away in the crowd. Fortunately she had navigated these streets for many many years so it all came as second nature to her to weave through the crowds. On reaching the intersection she turned down a far less busy street, her path to school being pretty much just a straight shot from there. It was then that she noticed something odd. As the sounds of city life dulled new sounds took their place. Surely enough there was some kind of... squelching sound coming from behind her. Curious she came to a stop and spun on her heel to face directly back. Her rapid movements were left unrewarded as she was met with nothing but empty streets. At least until she caught movement in her peripheral vision and turned her focus downward. Standing before her was some little green creature with a mouseboy standing beside it. It wasn't everyday that you saw such an odd combination and the surprise was evident on her features.

She wasn't one to dwell too much on surprises and so she quickly squatted down in front of them to help mitigate the size difference. "My my, what do we have here?" Despite the oddity of the green creature the majority of her attention was on the humanoid mouse. Someone that small would be absolutely helpless against her even if she didn't use her powers. Oh the things she could do to the tiny thing. A grin swept across her lips as thoughts of all the innumerable ways she could torment him flooded her mind. After a second she regained her wits and reminded herself that such things could wait. "Might there be a reason why the pair of you are following me?" Her eyes shifted between the two of them, not entirely sure which one would be the more outspoken one. Given the fact that beast people weren't unheard of while the green creature was she placed her bets that it would be the mouse.

William Henson

Man. William had forgotten how heavy Cinnamon Rolls could be.

As him and Squab kept themselves under the girls umbrella, he grunted a bit as the weight of the Cinnamon Roll began to get a bit unbearable. But he didn't want to put it on the dirty ground! It'd ruin the flavor and disgusting bugs might try and crawl on his precious! He shook on his head and huffed in determination. He'd just have to keep his eyes on the prize and stay focused! Wherever this girl was going had to be close, considering there were less and less people on the streets now. He'd just sneak into the building with Squab and set his Cinny Roll there! And then he could finally finish the delicacy there! But only if he remained completely focu-what was that noise. Confused, he turned to walked backwards, jumping when he saw a now puffy Squab waddling, except his footsteps sounded like...sloshing water?!

"Squab!" William whispered. "Ya gotta be quieter, bud. Otherwise, we might get-OOF!" William went as he felt his back run into something, causing him to stumble forward, slip, and fall on the ground, the cinnamon roll now on top of him. Ya know what? Maybe William'll take his chances. And he ate out of the trash before, so eating a Cinnamon Roll off the ground wouldn't be so different. Heck, maybe even better! But first...Pushing the Cinnamon Roll off his body, he stood up, dusting himself off, yet looking up when a shadow was cast over the two. He blinked a bit when he heard a feminine voice close by and turned around to see the girl squatting down, looking straight at them.

...Crap. They were found out...Whelp! At least he didn't have to waste his energy sneaking behind her! And judging by the fact she was grinning so hard, she seemed nice too! All he had to do was sprinkle in a bit of charm and maybe she'd help em' out!
"Well," William began at her question, fixing his little bowtie while his thin tail wiggled behind him. "I don't wanna spoil anything buuuut...it's raining." William chuckled. "And since you have an umbrella, a pretty big one, if I must say, we figured 'Hey! Lets stick around her for a bit, eh?' " William explained, a big smile on his face. An introduction was what they needed! He held out his hand for a friendly handshake with the girl, despite the fact her hand was at least three times bigger than his. But she looked pretty gentle! "Now that the awkward stuff is outta the way, Lets start over! Name's William! And my inflated pal over there-"

He looked over at Squab. "Is Squab! ...Or...Is a squab. I dunno, I'm still working it out myself." He turned back to the girl, hand still out for a friendly shake. "What's your name?"

They were fun things to play with, those creatures. They all give so many different reactions once they are within her grasp. Some tries to look tough and resist, others would cry and beg for mercy, but many of them ultimately ended up broken and cast away. Oh how she loves to play with them! She would sometimes play with them lovingly, with a caring and gentle touch of an owner towards a cute pet, other times she would play rough and wild, like a kid who cares not for his toys an only wishes to have fun with reckless abandon. Ahh, she would never get bored of this.

As she was playing with her recent acquisitions, she felt something enter her cavern. This thing felt different, and not because it wasn't Aiaran nor Devan. She'd tried playing with animald and monsters, but they felt the similar to the others whenever she plays with them. No, if she had to guess, it was this beings intent. It came here knowing a great danger lurks, yet it still willingly came. It was a curious little creature, and in turn, the Brood Matriarch was curious about it as well. No creature would willingly walk towards death, not if they can avoid it. But not this creature, and for that she found it very interesting.

"What a curious creature you are. You see me, yet you are unafraid." The Brood Matriarch said, crawling over to the creature. It was vaguely humanoid, it was hard to tell whether it had a cloak on or if it was part of its body. "You ask me what I am? I am a Brood Matriarch, the paragon of a specie long since gone from this world. Now I am left alone, all of my brethren nothing but dust in the wind." She decided to humor the thing, it was a bit entertaining after all. "And please do not insult me. Greed is but one of my bait. Greed cannot make a the noble and pure enter my realm, but the wish to protect will. Those who seek adventure and fame will not settle for measly gold but wishes to he remembered for eternity. The scholars and wise men whose only purpose in life is knowledge who not be tempted by mere riches. No, greed is but one of my bait."

"And you ask me still what my purpose is? Well I suppose you can say that my purpose is everything you said and more. I find joy and delight in it, and if it ckmes at their torture and pain then so be it. A hunt to satisfy ones hunger and to feed her children but also to eliminate those who have done me wrong. To avenge the family I once had but also to revel in the death and destruction I will cause in its wake." The Brood Mother said in an impassioned voice. It was mesmerizing really, a beautiful voice in your head giving an impassioned speech. "Nothing ever does anything with a single purpose in mind, remember that. Even the simplest of beasts with the simplest of needs are never doing anything for only a single goal in mind. How about you? What purpose do you have in stepping inside my home?"

" dust in the wind. I suppose you and I have that in common..." he gave a sigh, shaking his head as he snuffed out the blaze in his palm. It vanished, casting only darkness to the eyes of the human, before light filled the cavern. The entirity of the humans arm had caught fire, illuminating the enviroment, and those hidden in the darkness.

"I am... a hunter, much like yourself. However, I am the worst kind. I kill merely for the act of killing. I do not use the bodies for food, or trophies. I only wish to end the lives of those who are no longer human. Monsters, without morality. " he gave a glance about the cave, his eyes studying he walls with intrigue.

"Its almost comical, and i must apologize. I dare call you a monster, yet most men dont realize he worst monsters often live next door. Humanity is its own rival. Entities much like yourself have a...practical goal to your actions. Humans like I are...not as complicated. " he gave a nod, the smell of burning flesh begining to fill the dungeon that was this broods home.

"To answer your question, im here to learn. Monsters are beasts who slaughter only for pleasure and without any regard for others. I am to hunt what should not be, and what should not be has no purpose. Does that make any sense?"

Shiro Ai

Small and petite she didn't seem threatening to anyone, if only they could see under her cloak they'd discover that wasn't sure, not that anyone ever examined the girl with the orange glowing cloak before, only because she seemed too small to be a threat. Inside the cloak with orange lights running through it was Shiro Ai, a petite, almost too small fourteen year old girl, that's how she acted anyway, hiding the wing-like horns atop her head as well as the metal tail that she had gently wrapped around her middle, hidden so as not to draw attention to herself. She simply walked along the road with other travelers, moving here and there carefully, head tilted so the cloak around her shadowed even her glowing eyes, keeping those bright eyes on the ground also helped avoid drawing attention to herself. She mostly wanted out of this rain, she hated the cold wet liquid and was grumbling under her breath as she walked, anywhere would be good to hide and soon, else she bump into the field surrounding the capital and get slaughtered by those surrounding her.

She eventually happened upon a path leading into a forest and feeling relieved she slipped from the crowd and hid under the protection of the leaves, quite happy to finally be out of the rain and maybe mostly out of sight. How does th saying go? Out of sight out of mind? That's right~ The small girl quickly climbed into the trees and moved through their branches to the edge of the road, shadows hiding her as we watched travelers pass by, trying to figure out who looked gullible enough to fall for her. She'd come this far to seek out a new plaything. No one seemed to stand out to her though but as much as her race had destroyed she didn't blame the Aiarans for running scared inside their barrier. A slightly malicious aura wafted off her as she thought about this and giggled, "I could burn everyone alive if I wanted..." She thought instantly and shut off the maliciousness she needed to behave like a child, a curious one...maybe she could even pass for only half Devan, and convince some poor man to take her in and care for her. He would take care of her and she him, for a time at least, she had a higher craving for affection and touch than most other Devan and since most were assholes that denied her(Devans not Aiarans), she had to settle for the lesser beings of the world, which was fine, absolutely fine because she could kill them afterwards. With that happy thought she plopped onto the branch and swung her legs back and forth, to most Devan she wasn't beautiful, tanned skin, white hair, orange eyes, and a body not made of curves and a big bust, her cheeks puffed up some as she thought this, then continued watching the travelers pass by humming quietly to herself.

Squab
images (49).jpg

As the ran poured down on Squab he began to feel his body expand. This was common among the Squab. It was one of the reasons Squab lived in a hole covered by trees. The water slowed Squab down somewhat so he had trouble keeping up. The liquid inside of him sloushed about causing much noise. To which Will informed Squab he needed to keep it down. Squab blinked and simply nodded, not understanding what he was saying. But Squab did know it was probably smart not to get caught following the lady. Most people weren't very nice to Squab. Even when it came to Devan, they all saw Squab as a pest, and worthless. But Squab didn't care, he forgave the Devan quickly for their mean words. He was going to try his hardest and one day show what the Squab could really do! Squab smiled and puffed his chest out proudly, well as much as his balloon of a chest could puff out after swelling up.

They had followed the girl to a area with less traffic. Which made her easier to follow, but also made Squab easier to spot. He didn't want the baker to find him, they seemed to not like Squab for some reason. Suddenly they stopped, and the female turned to them. Squab just starred at her his eyes locked on to hers, that same blank expression as always on his round face. He listened to the interaction between her and Will. Then when he had finished nodded and said," Squab," Verafiying Wills words. He just hoped this girl was as nice as she was pretty. Who knows maybe she had some cute friends that Squab could charm. He did enjoy the company of pretty ladies after all. Squab walked up to the girl in the confident Squab Swaggush way only he could. Then he rubbed his hand through his none existence hair, and smiled at the girl charmingly,"Uhum, skwuab squa squa squab squob skwob."
He said giving her his best pick up lines, and preparing for her to fall, or run in either terror, disgust, or actually be charmed and flirt back. Of course there was the chance she could stare at him in a confused manner. Not many people knew Squabish.

Time and space seemed to turn silent... but was already back before the description was read. The pitch black spectre, squirming as if it was a living blob of cold water, formed next to the small Devan. The single eye twitched towards
Shiro, exposing the soul within. A Devan Lord said to have been destroyed with the rest of his city by black ferals, but if she knew, the spirit did not. It swung a hand forward, transforming into a large, coated in scars woman.

The monster whistled, turned to the little one. She spoke with complete ease and relaxation, almost as if she ruled the land, "To think they stand on the millions of corpses of my children and ancestors.." She proceeded to mention, "Your power is tied to your emotions ya know. That little outburst and boop..." She tried to bob her nose, finishing with, "And now I have a sister..."
