The Inn at the Edge of the World (OOC)

This setting runs parallel with another similar setting. In the one I'm talking about, the big forest is controlled by tree people and its really a complex biomechanical machine that I'm now convinced is powered by the long destroyed Fair folk of the Kelen forest

Well, medevial in the sense that there are flying ships powered by lighting and lost souls, trolls running a massive Theocracy, a gear city and Demonspawn running around acting like Noble houses.

-just checked character list- Yep, Bard's the only one left. Anybody heard from him? It's been a minute since he posted.

Hopefully it is to sleep also, and not attempt to engage in wiping out the party on their first night/not secretly a member of the cult of Screamers and begin screaming throughout the night.

...I think I need to read up on that lore again, because I don't remember anything about Screamers. Who the hell are they?

I'm so confused. All I want is to get this adventure underway so we can do work, get money, fuuuu-...

...und. Fund. Fund ourselves for future greatness. Yeah, that's what I meant. --m-- b

I supposed there is a certain level of conceit in the party joining and beginning their adventure together, but I took long enough in getting to post initially, so far be it for me to suggest expediting things. It gives us a chance to read up a bit on the setting also.

...not actually a thing. More for the joke.
Yes, it was just intended as a joke (and they being a thing in real life). That being said, there is possibly a cult somewhere (in Imeria) that does the same also. At the very least, it is not uncommon for cults to engage in some degree of shouting.

Actually Pixel already posted in the thread, Sam is currently huddled in a tree with his bow acting as first watch. The only person who hasn't mentioned anything yet is the bard, and they haven't posted in almost two weeks.

Seeing as I'm completely new to the story and not as well versed in the lore as some of you are, do we have any other viable options besides the ones offered? Also I'm assuming we should vote on a destination here rather than in the IC so as to keep the official story less cluttered, yes?

There must be some sort of prize waiting beyond Hellsteeth to cut a month long journey that short.

I'm also keen to avoid locations dealing with plague. I'm fairly neutral on the Inquistion but I worry about why they are building up forces.

I say we go to Strassenburg.

New Hope or Crowhaven, are my options. Crowhaven offers a low danger starting point with which to build upon, however New Hope seems to be a ready business opportunity from the sounds of it, and my preference.

I'm inclined to agree with both of you actually. I agree that Frixz has the right idea about there being a hefty reward through the mountains to cut the time down that short, but that prize could very well be just reaching the city quicker than we would otherwise.

I also agree that a bunch of Inquisitors gathering in one place is never a good thing, but if the Darksteel artifacts in question are the reason they are there then it's possible that whatever dangers lie within the city itself rather than outside of it. If that's the case I doubt that they'd hire a bunch of unproven mercs to assist with that kind of problem, more likely they'd hire us for security detail around the city itself. And even if we're set upon by spooky-scary things, there's no reason we can't pack up and leave when (or even before) shit hits the fan.

I'm also not a fan of plague so I feel that Crowhaven is out for me.

...Idk, if I have to go with my gut I'd say that Strassenburg seems like the best option considering the populace and availability for work. What worries me is the risk involved in actually getting there, are we sure we want to take that kind of risk? Even if we take the long way around we'll chew up all of our supplies in doing so, and that's assuming we have an uneventful if not prosperous journey there. And if we try to take the shortcut through the mountains there's a chance we'll die before we even see the city walls. I like to take chances here and there but this early in the campaign gives me pause for thought, yknow?

So those are my thoughts. Anybody else want to chime in?

In character:

We avoid Crowhaven. It's got two things I hate, plague and taxes. It's right out.

New Hope could work but I have a criminal background and I don't like the idea of being run around by Inqusition agents instead of private hires. And if we end up being security inside the city, we end up playing fake guards and our reputation spreads like that.

That's very true, I don't consider my reputation that often. Seems I'll have to start now since my livlihood is on the line.

Then I guess my gut was right after all, Strassenburg ahoy! But do we take the mountains or go around?

Well you didn't really make it widely known, but you did put that little factoid in the very beginning post when you listed our supplies and such. (Remembers like a good little kohai)
