The Inn at the Edge of the World (OOC)

I'm sure we'd be all interested in seeing how the mechanics would play out... that is people survive that long, of course.

I'd like to look at things in a positive light, but considering the stories I've heard about this system it seems likely that some of our characters may die before the story is done and over with.

It's entirely possible, as I will not pull punches in terms of damage tracks, injury, or illness. Oh, also mental trauma.

...that said, I'm not going to go out of my way to fuck you guys up. Generally, what will kill any of you, if anything, is either stupidity, bad decisions, or severe bad luck.

Just try not to look directly at anything that perverts the laws of physics and nature with its mere presence, and you should be fine.

Yknow whats funny? I just now realize what Lyke thought Abram was talking about. He doesnt mean he's against contracts for pay, he means he's against contracts for loyalty. If you give your word that you'll fight for your leader then you shouldn't need a sealed piece of parchment that says as much. His pa taught him a long time ago that your word is one of the only things nobody can take from you, and he doesn't mean to sully that anytime soon.

Which of course means he fully plans on coming back to this field of slaughter and not only collecting that which is owed to him, but that which was owed to the brothers that fell on the field beside him. With interest if he's feeling especially spiteful.

So let's all go to the Frontier, you guys! ;)
Anybody else get a Wizard of Oz image in their head after reading this? Though I think the roles would be swapped around a little: Osric would be the Scarecrow, Lyke would be the Tin Woman, and Ealhstan is the Lion, with Adelaide playing 'Dorothy' and Sam as Toto.

Not sure where the others would fall into place, frankly. Ideas?

I'm also hoping someone takes the initiative and stands watch for the first few hours. Abram would have volunteered but the poor guy is exhausted from literally fighting for his life.

Glad you caught that Frixz. ;)

And I imagine it's a kind of pumping motion with the thumb, followed by a loud squeaking noise coming from the very back of the throat.

...There's Fae in this story? Like, honest to God Fae? The tricksy little buggers that will kill you because you make a funny noise when you die?

Good thing Abram's already skilled at stabbing things in the water. Seriously, the worst ones always come out of the water.

In this setting? Yes, but more they are more The Gentry. The Fair Folk. The good old, minor gods with powers as such and but with the same human understanding, empathy and emotional stability of toddlers.

I'm pretty sure the Inqusition is attempting to deal with them but inside the world cap they are basically untouchable

..ain't no World Cap here.

And... you don't really "deal" with Faye. Dealing with Faye is like trying to nail jello to a tree. You hammer down whatever bits pop out of the woodwork when they present themselves, and you hope to god they stay the fuck down.

That makes me think. Because the forest where Faye thrive is the same location as the World Cap in the darkening skies setting.

It's now my head canon that the Treefolk of DS made all the Fae into a power supply for their forest.
