The Great Magi's Misadventures

"Even if I were, what point would it be to show it? I just think you are making him uncomfortable. I may be jealous, but I would never force myself onto a person. You on the other hand are so desperate for love that you will do anything. " Tayleen shrugged. " Either way, back off."

"So you do like him?" Cassandra said, intrigued.

"Can we please just move on?" Finnas forced out. "So, do you wanna see the town or not?"

Tayleen sighed and looked at the ground. She shrugged and looked up. "What point would it be to like someone who does not return your own feelings?" she mumbled. She shook her head and looked to Finnas. "No, I realize you probably have family that you would like to see. If that is so, I do not want to interfere on that time."

"You sure you can handle yourself alone?" Finnas asked. "You probably don't have enough money to find a good meal. Also, there are some areas of this town where people shouldn't wander alone."

Tayleen froze for a moment. She closed her eyes and shook her head. "Honestly, I'm not sure of anything anymore. I'll be fine"

"Remember, you still have that dagger. If you need anything, just shout," Finnas said as he summoned one of his Familiars and sent it over to Tayleen. "This guy should watch over you. Meet me over at that fountain in a couple hours." He pointed to the water fountain in the middle of the square.

"C'mon, Finny, let's go already!" Cassandra complained.

"Who said you were coming with me?" Finnas replied.

"
I did, now let's go!" She pushed at Finnas' back to try and get him to budge.

"Gah, fine!" Finnas then handed Tayleen some money to buy food. "Here, take this in case you get hungry, which you probably will considering you haven't eaten almost all day. And stay safe."

Finnas finally walked away with an annoyed look as Cassandra hugged his arm as they walked.

Tayleen sighed and stuffed the money in her bag. She looked at the familiar. "Guess it just you and me for now?" She mumbled. She shrugged and wandered the city. She watched her surroundings, occasionally looking around. Being in the city made her uncomfortable. Sure she liked people, but here there were too many. She shuddered and walked into a near restaurant. She sighed as she thought. Perhaps she should eat, but...how? She looked down and asked for a roll. She handed the tender the appropriate amount of money and stepped out. She split the roll in half and began to eat.

As the sun started to sink, she decided to try and find the original place she had been at. She got lost a couple of times, but eventually found the square and walked to the fountain. She looked around before kneeling beside the fountain and placing her hands in the cool waters. She smiled and swished her hand in the water. A small child wandered over and she eventually engaged the child in a splash war of types. When it was all said and done, the child wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. He then raced off to find his mother. Tayleen smiled softly and sat on the edge of the fountain, letting her mind drift.

((Alternate character time!))

Cassandra was walking around the square with an lollipop in her mouth. Twirling it around, she saw Tayleen hanging around the fountain. "Hi, Tayleen!" she called out, heading towards her.

Tayleen stared at Cassandra, confused. Hadn't she been with Finnas when she had left? Tayleen shrugged and looked at her clothes, she was drenched from her little playtime. She sighed and looked at Cassandra. "Hello, Cassandra" she mumbled.

Tayleen shrugged. She looked at the fountain and smiled a little. She looked back to Cassandra." I may have had a little too much fun."

Cassandra giggled. "I can see that." She then sat down next to Tayleen and unwrapped another candy and plopped it in her mouth, offering another to Tayleen. "Want one?"

Tayleen shook her head. "No. I do not." She looked straight ahead and closed her eyes.

"Your loss then," Cassandra said, putting the candy back in her pocket. After moments of awkward silence, she took the lollipop out of her mouth. "Don't worry about Finny, by the way. He may seem like a stick in the mud at first, but once you get to know him, he's not that bad of a guy."

Tayleen looked at Cassandra, confused. "What? Why are you telling me this? I mean, I'm just trying to learn magic.."

Tayleen tilted her head, curious. She shrugged and looked at the wall of a building. "That doesn't explain why you are telling me this. It does however explain why you are so...attached to him though." she said. She sighed and looked to the sky, thoughtful. She looked at the wall again.

"What I mean is how does he act when he speaks to you? Has he ever made you go off on your own, before? If so, for what reason?" Cassandra asked intently, leaning toward Tayleen.

Tayleen looked at her, curious and a little confused. " No. I made myself" she said. She leaned away, uncomfortable with how close Cassandra was.

"He may have picked you to be his apprentice for a reason, but I don't know," Cassandra said, shrugging her shoulders. "Did he mention anything about death?"

"Finny really hates to see people die, especially those close to him," Cassandra said, looking at Tayleen. "I'm curious, where do you think Finny is and what is he doing?"
