The Great Magi's Misadventures

"I guess," Finnas said, shrugging his shoulders. He began walking, pulling out the map and making it hover around with his magic. He left his hands free as he walked, whistling.

Tayleen follows him. She was, as some would say, in her own little world. She glanced at Finnas for a moment. She walked up beside him and looked at the map. "How did you do that?"

Tayleen looked at him. "How did you make the map float? Is it a spell? An enchantment?"

"I used an enchantment to make it float around," Finnas explained as the duo walked. "I can also do this." He pulled out a quill from his infinity bag and drew a circle around the location of where they were headed. The map then suddenly folded up into the shape of a triangle and pointed in the direction of where they were supposed to go.

"Eventually," Finnas said, putting his hands in his pockets. "With some time and practice, you'll be able to do it without saying any incantations."

Tayleen smiled a little a looked ahead. She nodded and set her hand in her bag. Her hand covered the stone and she was silent before speaking. "I'm glad."

Tayleen shrugged. "I guess that we're out of the city. I'm more of a small town person or a nomad." She looked around the surroundings and smiled. "Of course, I love nature. It's peaceful, for the most part."

Tayleen watched him for a moment. She shook her head, still smiling. She looked to the sky and closed her eyes.

Finnas feels the wind stop as he walks along with Tayleen. They weren't alone out in the field. There was something there with them. "Hold up."

Finnas looked around, noticing several shadows convening around them, lifting up from the ground. "So, ready for your first lesson?" he said, taking a cautious stance.

Tayleen looked at him, concerned. She was determined though. "As ready as I'll ever be."

"Remember that stone I made you hold when you intruded onto my property?" Finnas said, creating fireballs on the palms of his hands. "Focus your magical energy into your hands, like you did with that stone." The shadows turned into beast-like figures as they prowled closer towards the duo.

Tayleen rolled her eyes and closed her eyes again. "Still holding a grudge, I see" she mumbled. She shrugged and focused completely on her hands and her magical energy. She opened her eyes slowly and kept focusing on her hands, feeling her magical energy.

"Alright, now, release that energy, preferably aimed at those things," Finnas said, charging his own magic energy between his palms. "And don't be discouraged if it blows up in your face or something, just try not to let it happen."

Tayleen watched the shadow creatures, waiting. Her heart pounded I'm fear, but she remained still. Waiting. She throw her hands out and watched as she released the magical energy at one of the creatures.

Finnas glanced as one of the creatures was knocked back, smoking slightly from the magical projectile it was hit with. "Good job," he said, as he splayed his hands out at the monsters in front of him, knocking them back as well, killing some of them.

Tayleen smiled a little, proud that she had at least done something. She knew it wasn't much, but....Hey, she had used magic. She stared at Finnas as the creatures flew back. She had a lot more to learn, she now realized.

Finnas clapped his hands together while he chanted an incantation, creating five lightning spears which floated in midair. He then threw them at the remaining beasts, making them disintegrate into nothingness. "Well, that takes care of that. How are you feeling after using magic for the first time?"
