The Great Magi's Misadventures

Tayleen blinked, taken aback by the comment. Did he just call her smile nice? She frowned as she thought. What if he had? Could she live with that? She looked at him for a moment, then stared at her bag. "Thank you" she mumbled. A glow inside her bag caught her attention and she stared at it, trying to figure out where it came from.

A voice called from the stone. It was Cassandra's. "He's all yours, Tayleen. My little brother told me that you have someone you love, so I'm gonna assume he meant Finny. Good luck on your journey! And be sure to tell him to visit from time to time, it gets boring here. You should visit, too, once you become a fully fledged mage." she said in a confident tone.

Tayleen froze in her tracks for a moment and stared at the ground. Her thoughts went to the boy and then to Cassandra. Her brow furrowed and she looked up. She thought of what Cassandra said and she finally looked up. Her eyes widened and she ran to catch up with Finnas.

"You seem uppity," Finnas said as he walked along, looking back at his hometown. He pulled out his magic staff from its holder on his bag and used it as a walking stick.

"I may be, but what does it matter? " Tayleen shrugged and looked at the ground for a moment. She was silent as she thought. Her eyes closed as she walked and she almost tripped over a small rock. Her eyes flung open as she fell. She held out her arms to stop her fall. She stood and dusted the dirt of her hands. Only a little blood stuck to the skin and scraped skin peeled backwards as she rubbed her hands against her clothing.

"You alright there?" Finnas asked, clapping his hands together to cast a healing spell, hovering his right hand over the cut while holding his magic staff in his left. "You seem a bit more off than usual."

Tayleen looked at him. "You've noticed?" She looked down and closed her eyes. She shook her head and thought. She had been hoping that he wouldn't notice or th st if he had, that he wouldn't say anything about it. She opened her eyes and looked at her hand and then her eyes flitted to his for a moment. She was silent.

"Something wrong?" Finnas said, standing up straight and putting his hand on his hip. He had a sort of puzzled look on his face.

Tayleen looked up and shook her head. "No, nothing. We should get going." She faked a smile and looked away for a moment.

Tayleen sighed and shook her head. "It's really nothing. Not anything that you could help with anyways. It'll be fine"

Tayleen sighed and ran after him. "Am I really?" She looked at him curiously. She turned her gaze to the map. "Where are we going? How are we going to get there? Why are we going there?" She realized she probably asked too many questions and ducked her head, embarrassed. Her cheeks heated and she was suddenly silent.

Tayleen shook her head. "No. " She blushed more and turned away a little. "I...I.." She sighed and hoped the blush would fade.

Tayleen looked at him. She felt her cheeks warm and turned away. She clenched her fists and turned back towards him. Her eyes closed and thought for a moment. How could she say this? How could she tell someone that you love them, when you felt they didn't returns the same. She sighed, it was best to just get it over with. She opened her eyes and looked him in the eyes. "I.....I love you." She turned away and felt her cheeks heat more than they had before. She couldn't relax, not until she knew how he would react.

Finnas smirked a little. "Thought so," he said as he grabbed Tayleen's hand and turned her around. He closed his eyes and kissed her.

Tayleen stood still, shocked. Her eyes closed of their own accord and her cheeks heated more, if at all possible.

Finnas let go of Tayleen with a tiny smile, one that he hadn't done in ages. "Yeah, Cassandra told me about your feelings."

:Tayleen looked down at the ground, pretending it was amusing in some way. She rubbed her arms and was silent. Why had Cassandra said something like that to him? What else had she told him? She sighed and looked up, looking over Finnas's shoulder. If she could avoid looking at him, maybe the blush would fade a little.

Tayleen looked at him, silent. She rolled her eyes and smiled a little. "You may be a great mage, but you don't know much about girls." She shrugged.

Tayleen smiled and thought for a moment. She looked towards the forest. "Shall we be on our way?"
