The Good Ship (Flighter and Oit)

"Yes, Todd Huntings?" Kolliah answered promptly when she asked of his name.

--

Chrysaorus laughed at his petty attempts to kill her. Now he was relying on blunt blows with his fists. "Walter, someone who has no memory shouldn't blurt out things like that!"

((I don't usually one-line. But when I do, I'm pretty tired, hungry, and very angsty.

I want to sleep. I feel the need to sleep. But I don't know, my body is weird and resisting the sleep. I think it's because the light of day is out now.))

"Just..." Todd sighed, "... Just making sure it was you and not someone... Less godly." This wasn't the first time he had dealt with gods. Concordia's gods, after all, seemed to really like Walter. As a result, he got caught up in their grand and scheming ways.

"If you could tell me where to go so I may find my group, I'll... Try not to get killed by Abbessus long enough to maybe break through to Chrysaorus. Though I highly doubt the 'not get killed by' part." He then told her, still not happy with what she instructed him to do.

~

Walter kept punching, not letting up. He was slowing down of course, getting tired, his stamina running lower and lower with each new punch. An effective killer getting locked up with an invincible being could certainly drive that killer to the brink (if they weren't insane already).

"No memory!" He scoffed, "And what, like your little deal was even real anyway? I bet not -- Besides, with no memories I have nothing to lose! I'm free to do and say what I want! And here's what I say; You really are afraid of the wolf-man. You're afraid of Todd for whatever reason that may be. You're afraid of a mortal commoner. Some big and powerful queen. You're nothing but a coward!"

"Less godly?" Kolliah tilted her head. She didn't exactly know what he meant by that, so she only supposed it wasn't for her to understand.

"You don't need to go anywhere, Todd. You're only sleeping now. You just need to wake up..." Kolliah leaned back in place, until she was completely sitting on nothing in the air. "Good Luck! Save Escherisa for me..."

--

Chrysaorus noticed that his punches were slower, and getting weaker. She laughed, it was what she wanted. Her face returned to normal for a moment, before an invisible force grabbed at Walter and held his neck up. He was pulled away from Chrysaorus, and lifted up onto his feet. "Now then, since you can't put up such a fight anymore, how about we go over everything again?" She sent his whole body down to the floor with that force, and then she crawled over to him. "You're my hostage now. I won't appreciate any lip, you will shut up and do as I say."

Todd raised a brow when the goddess told him he was only asleep. Asleep this whole time? But everything seemed so real... Well, he supposed that's how dreams work. They always seem real. It was after he was wished good luck that he opened his eyes on the cave floor, still completely naked from his unfortunate transformation. If only Kolliah had given him some spare clothes. Well, his clothes weren't completely gone. There was still the shredded remains somewhere nearer to the cave's mouth, as well as the small scraps still clinging to his body.

Todd looked around and spotted the others.

~

Walter could feel the air cutting cut off from his lungs and he gasped and choked for a few seconds before he was thrown hard onto the grown, which stole a pained grunt from him. He glared up at Chrysaorus when she crawled over to him, a rumbling growl in the back of his throat. He didn't shut up. He had nothing to lose.

"So that 'kind and caring queen' thing was just an act? What's your game, Chrysaorus? Why are you going through all this trouble, anyway?"

He never wanted to play "hostage" with this freakish woman, and he certainly wouldn't let her keep him here like this.

"Todd! You're okay!" Drianne cried. She hugged Todd from on the ground, regardless of the state he was in. "I was so scared...! I thought we were going to die...!"

"I had no clue you turn into that. It was just horrible..." Airii shivered.

"I believe you all have received what you have wanted, right, Todd?" Seyllus gave Todd a little wink.

--

Apparently he didn't understand what no lip meant, that or he didn't care for dying. Chrysaorus stood up, pulling Walter along with her. All he could see was her feet along the floor, since she still had him dragging across the floor. "I have a special place for you, yes I do..."

((I think I have writer's block... :T))

Todd hugged Drianne back, tightly.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." He quietly told her, though directed his words at Airii and Eirii as well, "I wasn't -- I didn't know that was going to happen, I didn't know the moon mage would do that, I'm so sorry if... If what I turned into, if whatever I did scared you." He separated from Drianne, though kept his hands on her shoulders as he looked at the others. He sighed, relieved.

"Christ, I'm just glad I didn't hurt anyone..."

He then turned to the moon mage and nodded at what he said,

"Right... Sort of. Kolliah told me that we need to, er, 'strengthen Chrysaorus's will', whatever that means. I'm not too happy with such a broad answer." He huffed, then remembered something.

"Oh no! Walt's in trouble! He's with Chrysaorus! W-we need to get to him and help him!"

~

Walter was dragged, dragged away and away from his katana. He attempted to struggle, but he had used up all his energy in his rage-fueled attempts at killing Chrysaorus. He was silent. Angry. He never should have trusted this woman. He should have just stayed with Todd -- He was friendly, he knew Walter, he could have told him everything, Walter knew he should have listened --

Well. Woulda shoulda coulda. And now he was being dragged painfully through a castle, unsure of where he was going. Maybe he should have just followed orders like a blind little pawn. Like the blind little pawn Chrysaorus wanted him to be. Maybe he should have sunk that low.

"Well, you might as well have harmed that other fellow that impaled you!" Seyllus pointed out, waving a finger at Todd. "I had to transform you or you would have died. Just be glad you're not dead!"

"Wait, you spoke to Kolliah?" Drianne asked, she perplexed. Apparently, she told him to strengthen Chry's will. But as Todd had pointed out, it was pretty vague. Even she didn't understand what she meant... But she had a clue.

"Todd, she might be saying to pull her out by using emotional ties. You have to speak to her, help her not give in to Abbessus."

Airii smiled. "Yeah, that kind-of makes sense. But who's Walt? That guy who stabbed you?"

--

Chrysaorus, once she had arrived at the place she had in mind, she opened the steel doors and tossed Walt inside. "I hope you have fun in there, make sure not to die before Todd arrives." She gave out one final laugh, then shut and locked the door. She turned away from the door, then headed off. "I have a public speaking to attend..."

Todd listened to everyone speak and then answered them as best as he can. Already, he could feel the exhaustion from wolfing out catching up with him. He was forced to lean on the damp cave wall.

"Moon Mage guy, I could never consider hurting Walt because of who he is. He's my best friend. He was my only friend from where we both came from. We were trying to end a war together before... Well, before he couldn't escape from me in time and I, uh... Well, my wolf self tore his throat out. He should have died, but he's here now, for some reason." Todd rubbed the back of his neck with a small chuckle.

"I honestly thought I killed him. I felt so so bad, I didn't think I'd be able to really ever get over it." Then his smile dropped into a frown again, "He tried to kill me. Specifically me -- He wasn't focused on any of you guys, otherwise he would have dealt with you all immediately after he stabbed me. I'm thinking Abbessus took advantage of him. I don't know what happened exactly, but hey, who knows? Maybe he wiped Walt's memories?" He shrugged, "I don't know what he's capable of. All I know now is that he's in trouble and needs our help."

Todd thought for a bit, then looked over at Drianne. Her interpretation of what Kolliah meant seemed likely. How the hell was going to use emotional ties on someone who he had only known for about a day? Well, he could always try talking to her. Talking the monster out always seemed to work in movies, after all. He'd ask for Drianne's help, but he'd hate to put her in such danger,

"We'll have to improvise on this whole demon-possession issue. For now we have to focus on finding Walt and getting him away from Abbessus." He told the others, then turned to the Moon Mage, "Thank you for your help." He told the hooded man. Then Todd took a step forward towards to mouth of the cave and his knees buckled from underneath him and he fell onto them, then onto his face. He was far too exhausted to move, it seemed.

"... I'm okay." He told the others, albeit weakly.

~

Walter was thrown into a dungeon-like area. He stumbled and fell onto his hands and knees, and the hard stone was not kind to either. The first thing that hit him was the metal door's squeal and roar as it slammed shut, the noise bouncing and echoing off of the walls of this new area. The second thing, which was less of a hit and more of a lead-filled-boxing-glove punch, was the utterly unbearable and grotesque smell of the place, which made him wretch a few times before his guts remembered that Walter had not eaten in a while.

Walt stood back up and glanced around the place. He could see cells and cells and cells, cells for what seemed like miles. He really was in a dungeon, wasn't he? Of course, he looked into one of the cells, and instead of seing a prisoner, the resident was nothing more than bones. So many bones. Walter gasped and took a step back in fear.

It was like Hell had reserved its own personal spot in the crazed Queen's castle.

Drianne could understand what Todd was saying. But it seemed like he'd known the guy for some time. She was finally catching on, about him not really having amnesia. Not that it mattered much now, anyway. She would have asked Todd about it, but he had already advanced... And then fell down in exhaustion.

"...I'm okay."

"No you're not! You need a rest. So do all of us." Drianne hopped over to Todd's side pretty quickly. "I would talk to you about that amnesia of yours, but we can't go out there in this condition. It could be dangerous."

"She's right." Airii said, "I'm not going out there. I'm not very strong, you're probably the only one who can protect us. And you look like you're going to faint." She added.

Todd was rushed at by his own lack of energy. He only had enough strength to roll himself onto his back. He was fighting off the urge to simply give up and pass out right then and there. Todd looked over at Drianne. Looks like she found out the truth about his whole brain damage deal.

"Alright... So I'm not an amnesiac. I'm actually from another world. A very different world from this, as well as the world I was in before." He shook himself when his vision blurred. He couldn't just sleep. Not like that. Not now, "And don't worry about leaving the cave right now -- I couldn't move even if I wanted to."

He nearly fell asleep again, but blinked rapidly in another attempt to jar him awake.

"Drianne... Can you... Can you tell me more about Chrysaorus? I'd like to know about her. The real her. She was... She was so kind and understanding with me. I think I might feel something for her. A little bit."

Drianne nodded as he explained that he really didn't have amnesia. She wasn't mad, but confused, and unsure of what to think of this new story. But there still wasn't time to worry about that-- he was already falling asleep, and fast.

"Well, Chrysaorus is a nice person. More than anything, she loves Escherisa and it's people. She always prioritized it over anything else. I'd see her studying for days on end. I'm not sure what else to say, but she is very welcoming, and sweet..."

Todd listened to Drianne, smiling a little from what he heard. The queen was very noble. She sounded almost like Lord Bibentus back in Concordia, really. A kind and gentle ruler. She got the bigger picture, the importance of her duty, of everything, really.

"... If only we had more time to get to know each other..." He said with a sigh, "She sounds like a really great person. What... What I saw of her before she was possessed... I admired. She doesn't deserve what's happened to her."

Todd ended up drifting off before he could say anything else. He slept until the next morning, and it was that morning that he woke from a nightmare. It was far too vivid for his comfort. Fur, claws, and three very dead girls. Dear god, he was a time-bomb! If he's somehow forcibly turned again, Drianne, Airii and Eirii may wind up dead! No, no they still needed him.

Todd looked down at himself. They needed him, and he really really needed clothes.

That night, the three girls had rested. Airii and Eirii sat together, near the beginning of the cave. Drianne stayed by Todd's side, not like she had the guts to leave it.

In the middle of the night, Drianne had woke up. She felt like she had to do something. She saw Todd wasn't dressed at all (probably from the transformation) and it was then that she decided to take care of that little bit. She gathered up what remaining scraps of cloth she could, as well as a few supplies from the rain foresty area next to them, and she got to work. She worked on it until the morning. When she was done, she gave a little sigh, and turned back to the group. It seemed that Todd was the only one awake. She tossed the fixed-up clothes at him, and stepped a bit more inside to sit by his side again.

Todd was startled when the clothes were thrown in his direction. He looked over at the source and gave Drianne a thankful smile. He rushed to put the clothes on, then, once he was fully clothed, put a light hand on her shoulder.

"Hey." He whispered to her, "Thanks for the clothes, but, uh... Did you get any sleep last night? At all?" He sounded a bit fatherly now. Or like an older brother looking out for their little sibling. There was concern in his eyes. He would't want Drianne to be losing sleep, especially not over him. That girl couldn't just let herself be tired if they were heading all the way back to the kingdom's castle. She wouldn't be away. She could get eaten.

Drianne expected him to be concerned. She nodded softly, "Yes, I got quite a bit of sleep." But not much. She was a bit drowsy but she was alright.

"Are you okay, though? You seem quite sweaty. A nightmare?"

Todd was a bit surprised by Drianne's accuracy as to what was wrong and why he looked so... Well, "sweaty". She seemed to not want to worry him, just as he didn't want to worry her. A bit of sleep, though, she had stated. Perhaps she was fine, perhaps he was just worrying over nothing.

"Oh, yeah, yeah. Just a kinda not-great dream. But it's okay, no big deal." He said and immediately attempted to change the subject, "So... We should wake Airii and Eirii up. May as well get a good start on the day. The faster we help Chrysaorus, the better."

He got up slowly to avoid any dizziness, then lightly shook the sisters.

"C'mon, we gotta go. I'll go hunt for some breakfast, but we've got to move soon."

Airii and Eirii budged a little, well Airii, mostly. Airii woke up with a low groan. "Uhnn, did I miss anything?" She asked, wiling the crust out of her eyes. She stood up a little, and stretched, getting all of the cramps out of her body. "Scratch that, we're going?"

"Wait, Todd, you're going to get breakfast?" Drianne asked, standing up and looking towards the three.

Todd waited for them to wake up, resting his hand on the rocky and moist wall, fingers placed above their heads. He looked down at them as they woke up, and when Airii asked her question, Todd answered without a moment of hesitation.

"We are. We have to stop Abbessus, after all." It was a simple answer, but enough of an answer, he thought, to satisfy them. Then he moved on to Drianne, answering her question as well.

"Yes, I'm going to try hunting for something. I'm good at that, hunting." He explained, "Drianne, since you know this place better than we do, could you help me find something edible?" He then looked over at Airii, "Maybe you and your sister can help collect firewood, Airii?"

Drianne nodded. That's what she was thinking. There was no way she was leaving someone from another world in charge of making breakfast; they could get accidentally poisoned. "Let's go now, Todd. We gotta hurry, like you said."

"You can count on us. Go ahead." Airii stated, giving Todd a smile.

Todd gave the siblings a salute with a small smile, then headed out with Drianne to quickly hunt down something for them to cook and eat. Their hunt was successful, and while the others were handed cooked meat (and berries), Todd preferred to eat his portion raw -- A side effect to being a werewolf.

When they were finished, they traveled all the way back to Chrysaorus's kingdom with very few problems.

There was dread in the pit of Todd's stomach. A looming sense of doom hovering over him like a dark cloud. Todd thought back to what Kolliah told him about Abbessus, how he was a "sweetie". What a joke. Though he wondered why she would say such a thing. Was he really like that, or was the goddess just ditzy?

And that left him with the question; How reliable was her advice on helping the queen?

"If everyone's ready," He told the girls, staring up at those walls that guarded the kingdom from intruders like them, "Let's save the freaking queen."

And then he led them inside.

Drianne, Airii, and Eirii had been led inside by Todd. The three of them were all worried for what could've happened in their absence. They supposed they would've found out as soon as they opened the gates and saw for themselves.

They didn't know anything could become this bad, though.

As soon as they entered, the smell of fire and smoke hit their nostrils. Eirii had been taken back the most, she just couldn't stand the smell. Houses were lit on fire one by one, in no particular order. The marketplace, that had once been a free-trade guided area, was now filled with guards. And they started taking money from those who ran the stands. You could see children and their parents running from other guards, scorched under the heat of the fire.

A scream coming from elsewhere made its way into the kids' ears, and they all reflexively put their hands up to their heads to block out the noise.

"What... Happened?" Drianne asked, looking as if she were terrified of the whole thing. She was.

"I don't see our house anymore... Did they burn it?!" Airii pouted.

Todd's blood boiled when he saw what had happened, what the guards were doing, how they seemed to blindly follow their orders. He was horrified by the fire, the destruction, the panic in the streets. It was all too much. There was just too much suffering. No, they couldn't get distracted by this. They couldn't get caught.

"C'mon!" Todd barely whispered to the other three, then run and ducked behind the houses and stands, trying to avoid the guards' fields of vision. He'd stop to help the civilians who were trapped in this madness, but that could risk getting caught, and that was something Todd knew they had to avoid. Besides, he couldn't exactly outright kill the guards. They were still people, as idiotic as they may seem for doing as they were told like robots following a code.

Reaching the castle walls, they now had to get inside the grounds. Then they'd finally be able to help Chrysaorus.

The three had followed closely behind Todd, despite not quite feeling like running away from what had happened. They had to suck it up, and continue on, or else nothing would be fixed.

When they reached the castle walls, Airii searched, quietly, for the secret door she had seen before that led into the castle. When she found it, she gave Todd, Drianne, and her sister a signal. She drew her sword, brushed her fingers along the flat end of the sword, and hit down on the lock to slice cleanly through it to make as little sound as possible. "This leads inside!" She said, with a whisper.

Todd nodded and went into the secret entrance with the others, combing his way through the darkness until they reached the other side of it. They were inside the castle once again. Todd, with the others, stumbled into the entrance hall, to which Todd saw Walter's katana lying all alone on the ground. The sight was upsetting for Todd.

"Walt...!" He exclaimed as quietly as he could, "God damnit, you better not be dead!"

He looked around. Chrysaorus was somewhere in the castle, right? Perhaps Abbessus already knew they were here. Perhaps the demon-thing was only waiting for the right moment before he made Chrysaorus kill them all. Or perhaps the queen wandered like a ghost in her own halls, too busy plotting to notice anything.

"We've got two things to do." Todd told the others, "We have to save Chrysaorus and find Walt. So, uh... Let's go, I guess."

((I can't poost anymoooreee

//Whines and flops onto a table, which she then flipped over on its side))

"Waittt!" Drianne jumped to grab onto Todd's shoulder. "Todd, there's gotta be some more servants in the halls! Atleast, I hope that is the case. They wouldn't like to be in a kingdom like this. Maybe I can talk to them!" Drianne said.

"But what if Abbessus got to 'em too? Can he possess more than one person?..."

Airii and Drianne looked at eachother, sadly.

"I don't know, I'm just really worried... I want to get through this, but I'm scared..."
