Meg sat at the edge if the Forest, under a single tree that was cut off from the rest. Her doe eyes stared into the abyss that had swallowed many of her friends previously. The sun was slowly setting, casting colors of pink, orange, and purple hues across the sky. It was a rather beautiful sight, but eerie at the same time. If you payed close attention, bushes were rustling, twigs were snapping, and there was a low growling taking cover in the dark.

"Fucking November 30... Starting tomorrow, I have one month until..." Meg held her breathe and glanced away from the Forest, a sick feeling developing in her stomache.

She slowly layed back on the long grass, listening to others give orders and finish up what they needed to do. Since it was almost night, the doors would be closing soon, so she knew she should probably lift herself up and drag herself back to the dome, but having the bitter air surrounding her felt too comforting to her.

Meg slowly started to feel more and more exhausted by the second, her eyes drifting closed.

The incessant clicking rolled off of Alex's tongue like a familiar song, the only sound present from where she was trudging through the Forest. It had seemed peaceful but Alex knew that the withstanding tranquility could soon be interrupted by anyone and she did not take pleasure in such a thought. She paused momentarily as she heard a sudden snapping of a branch before continuing down the familiarized path she had embedded into her brain, her steps quicker. Alex had never had a certain opinion on the situation she had gotten herself into due to the fact that there was truly no choice to be held in the matter, she was placed here and she was keen on surviving despite the circumstances presented to her. This was what was present in her mind as she reached the Dome, glancing quickly behind her before moving ahead.

Leo Sanfara (I’m doing limited 3rd person, and note that these take place after each other.)

Leo walked back to the dome to eat before he had to go out on night duty. He’d been up in the Southwest Lookout Tower ((assuming up on the map is north)) the entire day, waiting for a fight to happen so he could do something today. Leo saw Meg sleeping on the grass near the Forest... She looked so much younger sitting there.

"Well, time for night shift, looks like the sun's going down."

Leo grabbed a flashlight from the supply area, and proceeded to patrol the places not inside the Forest.

---

James Sanfara

James had been walking around the buildings, looking for things to improve or to fix. He’d found a hole in the side of the animal pens, where some animal had probably rammed into it trying to get out… That happened sometimes. It’d only taken around 20 minutes, according to his internal clock. James began to walk to the Dome, and saw Leo near Meg around the grass… Hope they didn’t get hurt. Meg only had one month left, and after that… She’d be gone. She was one of the oldest ones here. After all, the others were gone. That, or he couldn’t remember them. He walked into the dome, looking for someone to talk to. ((If anyone wants to come up to him, will gladly converse. Just mention me.))

Nighttime, great. The perfect time for nightmares to come alive and for lives to be lost if one wasn't quick enough to find sturdy shelter. Well, at least they had the "shelter" bit of it down. As far as she was concerned, their little bit of land was the safest place in the forest. However, Sky was always a little paranoid that their haven wouldn't last forever. It had to come down someday; but, hopefully, that was long after they were all rescued.

Yes, she was that one hopeful idiot who still believed that a superhero would come. There had to be someone out there who would get them out of this mess, right? This cycle of stolen life and death couldn't last forever. Whoever was behind this had to be caught eventually. This whole thing wasn't just a thing that you could try to keep hidden without someone finding out and protesting against it. It was just...too cruel. However, even though the blonde kept these small glimmers of hope close to her heart, she refused to have her entire life rotate around them. Up until that "someone" freed them from this hell, the teenagers had to stay safe and alive.

Hence where her's and others' jobs came in.

Sky tried to make a habit of returning to the Dome last. After all, it was her job to keep everyone safe. While she wasn't as worried about her fellow Warriors, she did try to keep a close eye on them as well. Making her usual rounds, the girl darted around the area that made up their territory. She urged those who were still outside to hurry into the Dome before the sun had fully set, before moving onto the next area. Keeping a close eye on the forest, the girl became wary of any movement. Even the slightest breeze made her uneasy.

Joe slowly wandered around the perimeter of the camp, his eyes scanning the edges of the trees. Coming around the last bend in his route he spotted Meg laying in the grass, a soft smile forming on his lips. It has been peaceful lately for everyone here. Though the time was coming for the new sprouts to be arriving and...he didn't want to think of the other events that were quickly approaching. He sighed to himself, stopping and gazing over the trees at the painted sky, his mind running a million miles an hour. He shook his head and made his way down the grassy slope, stopping and sitting himself next to Meg quietly. He cleared his throat and rested him arms on his knees.

Zam sat along the edge of the animal pen, resting himself against one of the fences posts. With his nose deep in his book, he feverously put his pencil to the paper, sketching out the various animals and plants he saw in front of him. His eyes squinting to see through the growing darkness. It has been slow for him with how quiet things have gotten, not much need for a medic in times like this, he thought to himself.

One by one the medics packed themselves up and stepped out of the infirmary for the night, but not Ryne. She hardly ever stepped out of the place, aside from the occasional meal. Once, twice a day on average. Relentlessly focusing on her job is what keeps her waking in the morning after all.

Often times it would be unneeded for someone to stay the night and watch over the remaining patient's. Sometimes even the place would be empty altogether. It didn't matter to her. Ryne found the quiet relaxing, as if once sound stopped polluting the air she could finally breath. When the patients did need someone on stand by why not her anyway? Ryne was always focused and attentive, no matter her outward apathy. And she didn't mind being alone for hours on end. All in all a win for them everyone.

The only favor sound pollution and company ever did for her was keeping away droning thoughts and emotions. At night, in the quiet and the dark. Thoughts often invited themselves in, unwelcomed. Ryne could always keep her hands busy, cleaning organizing. Menial repetitive tasks others might complain of... Ryne found inviting, almost invigorating in a way. In the very least helpful both to herself, and of course in the long run others.

It came like a fierce storm, surging within her as soon as she entered the security of the Dome. Alex stumbled slightly as a wave of nostalgia washed over her and felt the same mixture of befuddlement and overwhelming sadness that she had always felt upon her return. She cursed her display of emotion before quickly uprighting herself, it was the same pathetic feeling she always had and it never seemed to make itself known. The longing for something that had never been, never would be, and Alex felt a frown slip across her features as tears steadily spilled from her eyes. She wiped at them, clearly frustrated with the human ability to be so weak and supported herself against a tree. Alex inhaled deeply before exhaling, willing herself to remain calm in the face of sheer simmering anger which seemed to be coursing throug her. This always happened, it failed to change. Alex was so tired of feeling pain.

Zack stared up into the endless blue and pink called the sky, the clouds seemingly in hiding. The moon was already hanging in the evening sky, shining down at Zack proudly. Some trees surrounded the area, the canopies of branches and leaves concealing parts of the heavens. A smile crossed his features as he wondered how the heck he ended up on his back. "Ah, that's right.." he thought as he made a move to sit up. It didn't work, of course, due to the fact he had actually fallen on his back from a tree. The boy squeezed his eyes shut, gritting his teeth as he ignored the excruciating pain biting at him. Then suddenly, with a heave-ho, he pushed the hurt aside and picked himself up. "Gahh!" he mouthed, slapping his forehead. "Eh, well, I best get to the medic for the cuts I got on the way down," he laughed awkwardly, though no sound produced from his mouth. Zack moved forward, one step at a time, for his destination: the Glass Dome. As he neared it, he could see the lanterns that hung on poles waving in the wind and he knew the lights would be on soon. He waved at a few passersby, then entered. Upon entering, he took a turn, and almost immediately found the medic hut. A grin was plastered on his face as he met Ryne, despite the numerous cuts and bruises covering his arms, face, and legs. Of course, he had anticipated the redhead being here. He had taken a liking to the girl because he believed they had one thing in common: they didn't talk. Or, in her case, not much.

Once Zach stepped into the infirmary Ryne vaguely directed him to sit down. Picking up a few basic supplies. Without any real communication or even eye contact Ryne began cleaning the cuts up on his face with a cotton swab. The alcohol stung sure, but Ryne never made comment of things beforehand. Even though most of the other medics did, she found it actually easier to not warn the person.

Ryne worked fairly quickly on Zach, primarily cleaning the wounds and not covering them. Most of the scraps barely grazed into his skin, the bleeding was virtually nothing. The only cut she covered was on his shoulder. Which Ryne easily fixed with a basic bandage. The bruises were many as well, those she had to ignore though. Nothing to do except wait and for him to be sore.

It seemed to Ryne that Zach came into the infirmary a lot, even for a warrior. Accident prone, though most of the time it added up to nothing serious. Ryne didn't mind it though, he seemed nice enough and he was the only one here quieter than her. Of course not by choice, but by now it didn't seem to hinder him much. Zack was certainly more energetic and social than her, it didn't effect Ryne enough for her to be annoyed by it. For never exchanging words once, there 'relationship' was a decent one.

Zack grimaced slightly from the stinging pain of the rubbing alcohol. The boy opened his mouth, as if to try and say something despite his handicap, but the redhead was working quickly and before he could mouth anything, turned around. A sigh would've escaped his lips, but instead he rolled his eyes, obviously annoyed. As he continued to attempt to turn her attention to his moving mouth rather than his scrapes, he finally turned else where. Looking out the door, he noticed that more and more kids were pouring into the Glass Dome by the minute. Every now and then, he'd spy a face he hadn't seen before. In spite of the rule of three kids coming each month(?), he still didn't fully know half of the kids, probably because they're scared of what's going to happen when they turn... A grim expression darkened his features, and his shoulders slumped slightly. In the end, everyone would meet their doom called the forest yonder the Glass Dome. Where they headed, no one knows. Perhaps some live, and they find a haven? Is that where we once resided? Were our parents once a part of this sick repeating? "Where do you think we come from?" he mouthed each word slowly, though he didn't care if Ryne saw or not.

After finishing up his basic ailments Ryne turned her attention back to Zach. Distracted now, in a world all his own. As he looked out to the people now flooding the dome, he mouthed something to her. Ryne almost didn't catch the words, it took her a moment. Glancing too at their peers seeping into the dome. All the people, all the chaos, nobody wonders, nobody knows...

'Where do we come from?'

Where do we go?

No, those are the wrong questions to ask. All of them frivolous, and empty. Those questions didn't matter, would they ever? Perhaps, though a cynical mind akin to Ryne's could not focus on such thoughts for long. They needed to ask the right questions first.

Where are they? Did it matter? Maybe not, but if anything more so.

So many had thought of it, the where. Including, but not limited to Ryne. The forest, it couldn't just be a forest. Memories or no, Ryne could recall emotions. The queer fear, the confusion, anger, maybe hatred. This was without question not a forest. Possibly, hell?

Ryne glanced back to Zack, attempting an answer. She had no issue with a verbal response this time, but it barely come out a whisper as she mouthed the words.

'Death.'

Not entirely sure if he would understand, Ryne didn't dwell too long. It made sense to her, that's all that mattered. Standing up again, Ryne started cleaning up her supplies.

MALAKI

HENDRIX

Like most of the other people here, Malaki had been tending to his only other job besides the most important one in the group. He was the leader, a role model to most. I mean, he was one of the first ones here, along with Meg and another who he won't name...

When he wasn't guiding some insightfully or helping someone with something, he was simply working the garden. He enjoyed the hard work you had to put in for the plants to develop right, and the fact that it provided food for everyone. The dark-haired male slowly stood up from his position of the fertile ground. He wiped his hands on his jeans, running a delegate one through his matted and sweaty hair.

"Well, that was fun. Let's see if everybody needs something from me today or not. Maybe go see Meg too..." He murmured to himself, his Cerulean blue eyes flickering back and forth on the ground as he thought about his next move. He simply shrugged after thirty seconds of long, hard thought. He would just go with the flow.

Due to severe boredom, Alex had found herself intently watching a boy work in the Gardens. She hadn't meant to impose but watching others work had always fascinated her and she was quite an inquisitive person, it helped settle the unnerving feeling within her and hold her discomfort at bay. Alex leaned against the wall, her thoughts calmed by the scenery. She wouldn't lie at how breath-taking the Garden could be at times and she was enraptured by how whimsical it all was, as if it was another world within a world. Of course, this was all forgotten as Alex moved backwards to take her leave and fell upon her face. Brilliant.

Zack narrowed his eyes down at the girl, contemplating whether all of the gears in her head had gone out of control, or if the word that spelled out on her lips was sheer wisdom. "Death," he mouthed the word to get a better feel of it, slower at first so he spelled out each letter, each syllable. The boy furrowed his eyebrows together in confusion, wondering if he had ever spoken the word. Sure, he thought of it occasionally, but in all of his years being able to talk he never really reflected on what's going to happen when they get to the end of the line. When he thought of the forest, he always tried to think beyond that, though to most it seemed nearly impossible. "I guess we're just going to find out for ourselves," he decided. And then, he mouthed the inevitable—at least, something that Zack would say. "Is it hard to brush your hair? Wouldn't it be easier to have it short?" he wondered/mouthed "out loud", tilting his head to one side as his eyes combed through her fiery flames called hair.

Again it took Ryne a moment to figure what Zach said, though this time not nearly as long. A sudden comment on her hair, his head worked fast. That could be good or bad the angle a person took to preserve it. Ryne was glad to have moved on from the dark topic, but her hair? Seemed a bit odd.

Ryne ran her fingers through her hair, she quite liked her hair. Long and incredibly red, hardly anyone in this camp had red hair. It could almost be a pride thing is Ryne cared just a little bit more. She could recall when she first got here, it was incredibly short cut. Shorter than most of the boys wear their hair now. At this point she's not touched it at all, in terms of cutting. It grew incredibly fast, and it was getting a bit long. It might not hurt to trim it up.

After a short moment she shook her head no in response. She didn't actually comb it that often, it wasn't needed. Occasionally it would be tied up, or in braids but she's never actually found it that much an issue for day to day life. Didn't matter, she liked it how it was.

Maybe if Ryne ventured in the forest more, it could catch a branch. Ryne didn't though, spending most of her time in the infirmary.

Zack rubbed his chin and mouth thoughtfully, giving the redhead a "seriously?" look. "Tell me, oh girl that calls herself a shower of water.. have you ever even been out of the Glass Dome, and where?" he asked, the poetic side of him being revealed(yes, Zack has a lot of secrets). A look of amusement crossed Zack's face as he wondered how she would get herself out of this dilemma without talking. She'd have to, of course. Everyone eventually came out of their special hiding place—Ryne was no exception. The question was where. Where exactly would Ryne seek refuge? Obviously, the infirmary could be considered her home, but what of outside the Dome? He had no clue.

Skyler

Taking a moment to rest, the girl slowed her pace, and eventually came to a full-on halt. Her breathing was a bit labored, although not as much as another's would've been in her situation. For the last half-hour or so, Skyler had been running around the entire area of the camp, telling people to move their butts and to get inside of the Dome. The only ones who really stayed out of it now were the Warriors, as well as a straggler or two that she had yet to catch.

They only had a few minutes left until the sun fully set, which kind of freaked her out; as it usually did.

Folding her hands behind her head, the blonde looked around. Her eyes did their best to pick up every detail that they could; leaving nothing out. Eventually, her gaze fell away from her duties and toward a small little area that lay right in front of her. Skyler stopped and stared, unable to look away for a good minute or two. Even though she passed by this spot on a daily basis, it was still weird.

A few years ago, she had appeared right here. A wave of nostalgia washed over her as she recalled the events from that day. Back then, she had been so afraid and quiet; not knowing where she was, not knowing who others were. Hell, the girl didn't even know who she was. No memories, nothing. Just fear and unfamiliarity.

And, pretty soon, three more unlucky souls would be put in the exact same situation.

A short and quick smile flashed on Ryne's face, disappearing without a trace. What was Zach trying to do? A boy with no words attempting to strike up a conversation with a girl who couldn't care less about sharing hers. There were many ways she could respond. Firstly, and most obviously no response at all. As if she didn't understand his mouth. The thought of lies irked her, so that was tossed quickly. Ryne could attempt an actually conversation with him, sentenced and the like. Something a normal person did. That did not strike up any of Ryne's interest though.

After a few moments Ryne sat down across from him. Supplying him with a bit of a shrug. This sort of conversation, she wondered who might give in first. As if it were a bit of a contest, and she was feeling a bit cheeky.

"The entrance," Ryne supplies simply, in compliance to her infamous two word rule. Never more than two words, most likely just one. The most Ryne could recall ever saying all at once was five words, something to the effect of becoming the medics keeper. A thought passed back over Ryne's mind, they thought once she became the keeper she would have to talk more. Didn't happen though, she ran things perfectly find in the silence. Ryne managed to give him another quick smile primarily over that thought, though it faded back to her more monotonous flat face.

Z A C H A R I A H ;

Zack's eyes widened, and he fell out of his chair, clearly taken aback by her first two words to him. Sure, she spoke every now and then to her colleagues... but him? That's a totally different story. The boy stared up at the redhead, his eyes piercing into hers. Quickly he got up, never wincing at the sore pain he was now starting to feel. He was satisfied with the progress in their friendly relationship they were getting(but, of course, this probably isn't mutual XDD), but definitely not with her answer. What kind of person didn't get out of the Dome!? Of course, there was a place outside of the Dome she had once been in, but that time was long gone. Now, he wanted to introduce her to something called: "outside." A grin crossed his features, and his eyes lit up like fireworks on the fourth of July. "Then, let's go!" he mouthed simply, reaching for the girl's hand and tugging at it.

R Y N E ;

Eyes widened on Ryne as Zach tugged at her hand, a really bold move for anyone. Most everyone ignored her presence unless they needed something. No one ever really touched her, she wasn't fond of physical contact in casual settings. Though after a moment of resistance she actually stood up.

Going outside, while night was falling? Ryne knew him to be a bit accident prone, but maybe she was wrong and he was just plain stupid. Yet oddly she didn't find herself protesting him. What did that make her?

Z A C H A R I A H ;

Zack, still clutching the girl's hand, speed-walked his way through the Glass Dome. With the entrance in sight and the sky darkening into a slight purple hue, Zack made his escape as fast as he could. Once they were out, he took in a massive gulp of air, as if being in the Glass Dome had nearly suffocated him. Turning to Ryne, a happy grin right splat across his face, he finally let go of her hand. "Welcome to the wild, dear Ryne, where there's no civilization!" he mouthed, though if he could speak, the mock tone is his voice would've been as clear as day. People were still bustling about in the crop areas, and warriors talked to each other while marching around the forest perimeter. "So, where would you like to go first?" he asked/mouthed.

R Y N E ;

Ryne glanced around a moment. The warriors, a few farmers. That's all that was left. She couldn't remember the last time she was out here. Was it really when she first got here? Those years ago. It have have been. Strange.

Ryne turned back to Zach and all she could do was shrug, she had no clue. There was nothing in her that was opposed to going out, well except for at night. She just hadn't left. No real reason, it just was. So she didn't know where at all to go given the choice.

Z A C H A R I A H ;

Zack tilted his head at her response, a confused look written plainly on his face. 'Maybe it's because she doesn't know many of the places here?' he wondered, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Alright, then, let's head to the garden!" he decided after a moment, starting in a run towards the crop area. After a little bit of running—way ahead of Ryne—he tripped over something. His body fell, but almost as quick as it happened he jumped right back up. He waved at Ryne to tell her that he was alright, and that she should follow him. Going around a building, they soon met the garden area where the farmers grew herbs and other medical plants.

Skyler

Shaking her head, the girl yanked herself back into reality.

That was the past.

She had to stay in the present.

Skyler started running around; pushing herself as hard as she could. Their time until night officially fell was quickly becoming shorter, and she needed to make sure that anyone that wasn't a Warrior was safe indoors. Over the years, she had gotten pretty good at using the sun to estimate what time it was. While the blonde never really cared to use this skill at anytime besides sunset, it was still one that she was relatively proud of.

Sprinting the perimeter of their territory at full speed, Skyler cupped her hands around her mouth. "OI, FIVE MINUTES. GET YOUR LAZY BUTTS INTO THE DOME NOW." Of course, this only went for people with any job besides hers. The Warriors were meant to protect the others; even at the costs of their own lives. While they could rarely do anything for the Scouts once they were outside of their chunk of land, they were still obliged to do as much as they could. Sky had no idea how many people were still outside of the Dome, but she wasn't taking any chances.

Dark blue irises darting back and forth across her dimming surroundings, the teenager tried to pick up any signs of movement. Even though she was out of rotation for the night-shift tonight, she was willing to break the cycle for today; if it meant corralling every stray person into the Dome. She would especially stick around outdoors if someone else got stuck outside. Hell would freeze over before the blonde allowed someone to stay outside defenseless.

Every few seconds, Skyler would repeat the same thing-- "Five minutes, get inside"-- until the very last moment. No matter how much her throat started hurting from the continuous shouting.
