Futuristic The Deep Dark: A Space-Age, Galactic Freeroam RP

I good start for one of mine would be a megacorp smuggling L-crystals
this is a good idea. My character is a smuggler so we could have a megacorp making a trade at some rough spaceport when vinnie(The red princesses) shows up and fucks shit up and the rest get, somehow, caught in the mix.

Okay real quick before I post Vinnie (who has a real long bio, sorry about that) here is an extra thing to do with her backstory.

Demians- A race of amphibians from the planet Opteak, they aren't very special. Standard humanoid race, no powerful or extra special powers. They do have a slightly odd religious traditions. They're idea of righteousness is being able to completely live underwater and live off of the ocean without any technology. Due to their biology, this is very difficult for the Demians, but many live in the water at home and on land in public. Now, of course, not all Demians believe this, but it is the traditional belief. Opteak had a large moon that a human must've realized had a very precious mineral that was used in human ship's hulls. So OIGA, knowing that the Demians were, at the time, in economic crisis, offered to buy the moon for a great deal of money. The Demains accepted. When this property was bought, there was a huge rush of humans moving to the moon in search of striking it rich. After only a few years though, there was an asteroid that collided with the mood and destroyed it, all the miners were evacuated to the planet as refugees. The Demians never liked the humans due to the fact that humans were physically unable to live underwater (and deemed them biologically immoral beings), but having them take up space when they hadn't even fully recovered from their depression made them even angrier. Humans had a hard time finding work and most never had enough money to leave the planet; many were forced to stay.

Honestly if the Rooktan had the ability to live underwater 24/7 and didn't seize it, the Demains would probably hate the even more than they hate species who don't have the capability to. Like the way they view humans is "They are terrible and evil, but they really can't help it."

It's kind of a weird belief but I try to make the aliens I come up with as unique as possible, even if it means some odd cultural difference we couldn't ever relate to that comes off as awkward. That's why I always prefer to write an alien that is like humans, because you don't have to worry about science being like "Those aliens are too normal, they'd never exist"

I could actually see it working out like that. Perhaps the Rooktan, being the generally friendly species they are, offered aid to the Demains before the humans offered to buy the moon, but turned them down because of the Rooktan's 'immorality.' Would be a nice and ironic twist.

i agree

@AlphaDraco, if you feel we need a Drakon or a Dragx I could go ahead and RP as one. I was already considering it anyways, but I was indecisive on it.

@whitefoxkiller, nice job on the Demians and Vinnie, and no worries about the whole Dusk Supply thing, it's cool. I honestly would probably prefer something like that so we can weave the story together better, make the info we've come up with thus far even more vital and necessary.

And as far as the starter post goes, assuming we have one planned ahead, we could start it off at a smuggling ring that was busted by the OIGA, as it seems we could have everybody involved in that event one way or another.

Why don't we have a smuggler ring getting broken up on a colony, but then the Devor attack en masse?

I like that. Nice and chaotic, but then we'd need to make sure that as we leave the attack or whatever ends up happening, all our characters get stuck together (I really hate RPs where people are spread apart and everyone is like "come interact with me")

General Manager @Cry U 945 , looks like you will have to find a way for... Let me see: a mad scientist, an individualistic colonian, a veteran Rooktan and his AI, a Devor commander, an OIGA agent, a bounty hunter, a mercenary, a robot and a Pirate captain to get "stuck together" somehow. It's a tricky job indeed. Good luck. I know you will succeed. (Anyone would like to help?)

Well, my Devor dude can easily be an antagonist that isn't always around. And the Colonian can be on a diplomatic mission anywhere, and mad scientist extremists can pop up in the strangest places.

If this actually starts I'll apply and rejoin

but this has taken so long to start I doubt it'll go anywhere. Sorry that's how I see it from my expeirence

That was kind of the length of time I expected it to take since everyone had to write up something for the lore.

Okay maybe it isn't necessary to get ALL of us together, but maybe like a couple groups that stick together, who sometimes bump into each other...?

Voids Portal

Voids portals are a strange technology that allows users to create portals to their own personal pocket dimension, commonly referred to as a void. Unless two or more devices creating these portals are somehow connected with one another, each void remains completely separate from one another. As such, voids are most commonly used as an infinite sized storage spaces.

The creation of a portal to a void could be compared to breaking a hole in the wall, with the wall being our dimension itself. These "holes", if not continually supported by a portal generator of some sort, will naturally be repaired after a short period of time.

So, as far as the Starter post goes I think that the Smuggling Ring interrupted by Devor is our best bet, as it allows us a reason for everybody's involvement.

@LeviathanL, Fasir can be there for L-Crystal procurement, Colony Zeta to negotiate allocated resources or other political things, and Emissary for obvious reasons, leading/helping to co-ordinate the attack.

@AlphaDraco, Taz and Zenx can be docked to sell some of the minerals they've mined.

@xMellowmint, Incoquo 002 can just happen to be there wandering.

@Quarantinetimer, Crix can be there to bust the smuggling.

Ryder, my character, can be there for a contract on someone (maybe another character to cause conflict and further character development).

@Yesman, Jared can be there for a mercenary job.

@whitefoxkiller, Vinnie can be there to stop an L-Crystal smuggling competitor or be the one smuggling them, whichever you prefer.

These are just some ideas for everybody to work with in case they can't come up with anything else. If you can come up with something else you think fits better or prefer, go ahead and do that instead.

I also, in light of determining the starter post, have suggested making a plot change to help character interaction- the Devor surge and flood the whole system of the outer colony, the first assault of this magnitude in 3 years. Due to lack of preparation because the colonies were only recently established, the territory is taken quickly and without much of a fight, effectively leaving the characters surrounded and in Devor space. They would then have to escape the system, on the way stopping to grab fuel without being detected by Devor forces, or fighting through them to get to said fuel.

We could have this sequence be the foundation of relationships later on in the RP and the best part is it easily makes sense with the plot I have planned.

I also had the idea of introducing the RP equivalent of NPCs- they'd be RPed by me, since I'm the GM, but they wouldn't have a CS as they aren't considered player characters. They'd be things like important political figures, various miscellaneous characters, and antagonists. To help the characters along with another common enemy, I've come up with an idea for a universally recurring antagonist, one that seems to have it out for most of the characters. He'd be a mysterious assassin, one that has no know affiliation and goes by the alias "Onyx".

Let me know what you guys think about all this.

PS. @Yesman, nice job on the void portals. They'll have to be an incredibly rare technology, but they fit without breaking the overall theme of things very much if it all.

May I put one on Jared's right arm? I don't want to do it without your permission because I could potentially just pull a rocket launcher out of the void or something else ridiculous

So I've added:

The right arm is equipped with a voids portal generator. This piece of technology requires a lot of power to work so Jared is only able to store and retrieve small items such as grenades, keys, or ammo clips.

Hope that's okay
