you are not alone | no one is alone
Hayden Gaines and Soren Truelson
FEDRA Civilian, FEDRA Officer | 24, 35 | Current location ;; Seattle Quarantine Zone
The silence dragged down the mood. It weighed on the air that stifled around them as Soren moved the truck. They passed scene after scene of how the world was falling apart. If the silence did not knock down that positivity, the world around them did. Soren felt like it was his job to fix it, but he didn’t know how. There was so much death and destruction. They could sometimes hear the screams of people who were no longer themselves. He could only hope that their people were not those out there. Eventually, they passed the hospital, turned down the street, and came up on the house. “You ready to find your brother?” It was all Soren could think to say.
As the suitcase closed, covering the people who were gone – mother and father and brother of a family that were his too – Hayden could feel all of that energy seep out of his body. Leave him completely. It fell away to die with the rest of the world. He still smiled. “I’m fine.” He wasn’t. “Thanks.” He stared at the nothing down there another second or so longer before walking away and towards the room. “Tired. I think… Maybe I’ll take a nap.” And close the door. Close everything out. No more people. If no one was there, no one could get hurt. No one could hurt him. He tried not to think about the bodies on the floor.
