Fantasy / over the dragon's gate ₊˚.༄

当关

the fish who jumps the dragon gate becomes itself a dragon. the man who drinks the water of the dragon gate lake sees his destiny rewrit... no, no, it's the man who steals the pearl in dragon gate lake who sees his destiny rewritten. or was it a seal? maybe a key? or was it the dragon itself, once defeated & tamed, that will change its master's fate? no one really knows for certain how the last master of dragon gate gained power beyond mortal reach — but they're sure it has to do with her pet dragon & the lake it keeps. hundreds of warriors have braved the dragon gate & failed; one beast laments their persistence.

you, you there, little girl. something weighs on your heart, does it not? come to me, my dear. you are wary, but i must ask you to trust me. if not in me, then these eyes of mine that trace those invisible, enduring lines of fate.

call me a hack all you want, sir! allow me time to speak, and you may do as you wish after. you only need listen.

come closer, girl. give me your hand.

something dark, when you were a babe. something you were not meant to survive, and yet you did—your first and only battle, that stole away any potential that could have been, far before your hands were big enough to hold a sword. no scars to show, but you bear many. inside of you. you fight to inherit a hefty legacy, one that weighs on this frail body of yours.

indeed sir, the girl understands i speak only truth. come, turn your hand. let us see what lays ahead.

ah... it... it is... a frayed thread, one that has been unravelling for a very long time.

you know as well as yourself, do you not? those moments where you fear light will not come to you again—

your body is breaking. you know, too, but you are afraid.

the end of the thread...

( ... )

my dear, do you really wish to know?
