Shadow Cursed
Scarlett O'Hare
Scarlett was so lost in her little world of darkness and self-loathing that she hardly had time to notice the girl running towards her charge. "Back!" She hissed and leaped mere seconds after coming so close to her. Suddenly, Scarlett couldn't remember why she jumped back. Her arms, they looked like they were holding something, but there wasn't anything. She let her arms hang limp but heard the sound of something hitting the ground behind her. She turned around to see the boy, her memory flooding back to her for a moment. "Shit!" She cursed under her breath as she leapt into his path, blocking him from tumbling down the incline. "Sorry." She managed to speak to the boy as her eyes let several drops fall onto him. She was worthless, she couldn't even just carry a person across a forest. "Worthless." The words began to flow from her as she heard her master. Pathetic, you can't even throw that car twenty feet? No dinner for three days. The memory of her training flooding her mind as she just stopped the hunter from rolling. "Mutt. Replaceable. Weak." She couldn't hold back the feelings of depression as she fell to her knees. She didn't want to move. She just wanted to rot away like a dog with no owner.
Ryuji Nakamoto
"Nightshade, my dear, calm down. You're only increasing your chances of her considering you a threat." Ryuji placed a hand on Kore's shoulder. "Some people fear that darkly beautiful nature of the wilds, so just show her the beauty." He playfully winked to her as people chimed in on bamboo. "Yes yes, those are all true for old bamboo. This mutated stuff is something spectacular." Ryuji wished he could just show Kore and the others it. "Ah! That's perfect!" Turning to face Kore he smiled. "If you want to see the bamboo forests of New-Asia, then you can come along when I return, all of you can. I'm sure my people will welcome you, as New-Asia is very accepting of abnorms of all types." He chuckled as she suddenly started off somewhere telling the group to stay put. "Well, the wandering woman can tell me what she likes, but alas, I am a man that must seek beauty."
Slipping over to a tree, Ryuji turned to Snow. "You've made your choice little snowflake." He said calmly to Snow before climbing up the tree. "Know that you've likely made an enemy of our guide. I will do what I can to aide you, but I have a mission." He stopped after saying that. His hands and feet pulling him up to the branches towards the top of the trees. Sure, Kore wouldn't like it, but looking over the tops of the branches, being close to the sky, Ryuji wanted that. He wanted the freedom of the birds. "I have to succeed, or I shall never know peace." He spoke to himself as he gazed over the patches of green against the irradiate neons of the setting sun. "Ah, Hifumi, if only you could see this." Thinking back to the one that had opened his eyes to the world of beauty, Ryuji felt a single tear roll down his cheek, thankful that nobody was around.
Rose Valencia
Not noticing much with her headphones in, Rose watched as Kore ran off. She quickly turned off her device and started after her. Their guide couldn't just leave them here to die, and besides. If she was going somewhere, that meant there was information to be gained. Running through the brush and vines, Rose kept her eyes glued to Kore. It was difficult, to say the least, but as she caught up to the girl she saw whom she was after. He seemed bat shit crazy. There was no point in talking to someone like that. If he couldn't even remember who he was then he'd just slow the group down further. "So, you left us all behind to chase after some psycho?" She called out as she walked out from behind some branches. Rose tilted her head in disbelief. "The dude doesn't even remember his own name!, not that I believe that, but still." Rose walked over to the man and looked down at him. "We should get him to the medic. Plants will help, but he needs a doctor to look at him." Rose wasn't one to just leave a person behind like this. Yeah she didn't trust people, but when it came to being weak and defenseless, she knew what that was like. "Come on," Rose put herself on the man's weak side and offered her shoulder, though she doubted that it would do much good with her height. "Right, too short for this." Rose grumbled to herself as she looked between Kore and this new person.
