I go to San Antonio a lot to visit my dad. I feel you on the small towns. I am going to San Marcos for college and I say Austin because everyone knows where that is but I'm from Leander, right by Cedar Park and in the Round Rock area.
Surprisingly, Leander sounds familiar. Back when I was in FFA, I may have met people from there. Not 100% certain though.

I have a finished novel, though because I based a lot of the characters off images on the internet, lookwise, I won't ever try and publish it. Don't feel like dealing with copyright laws and all that.
But isn't that just inspiration for how a character looks? As long as you didn't like use a persons name or something or their identity and give that it's all fiction warning and the story is all yours, you should be good.
